In a Wing-Nut World, Granny’s Toast

By Ellen Goodman

I am as happy as anyone at signs of an economic recovery. But I confess to having mixed feelings about the resurgence of the wing-nut industry.

    We now have “The Birthers” manufacturing myths that President Obama was not born in the United States and therefore is serving illegally. These products arrive in my inbox faster than I can press “block sender.”

    They are just following the business plan of those earlier entrepreneurs selling the idea that Obama had killed his grandma. Consider the scare-biz Internet scribe who penned the memorable line: “Obama flies to Hawaii to visit his grandmother and just a few days later she winds up dead. Coincidence?”

    But now the industry has ratcheted up from accusing Obama of killing his grandma to accusing him of trying to kill your grandma.

    The campaign of the moment is based on a small provision in the health care bill that would allow Medicare to reimburse doctors for time spent consulting with patients about their end-of-life choices.

Advertisement

    This modest idea was willfully distorted by people such as Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, who said that the bill would “absolutely require” end-of-life counseling that “will tell them how to end their life sooner.” Republican leader John Boehner offered the same flawed product, saying, “This provision may start us down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia.”

    Their views were also sold by right-wing franchise operators. Laura Ingraham warned that government bureaucrats would “come to an old person’s house”—yeah, house calls!—for scary death chats. Fox News analyst Peter Johnson called it a “kind of our 2009 ‘Brave New World.’” And Randall Terry, the Zelig of the pro-life movement, said this was an attempt to “kill Granny.”

    Panic is their most important product. The bill doesn’t really mandate anything. It simply assures that a talk about advance care planning will be covered for the patients and families who want it. As Obama told a woman at an AARP forum, “It strikes me that that’s a sensible thing to do.” But who would trust someone who offed his grandma?

    All in all, Fearmongers Inc. plays on the notion that advance directives are a sneaky way of cutting costs by cutting life short.

    Well, here’s what we know: One-quarter of all Medicare dollars are spent in the last year of life, much of it in the last month. We don’t know yet whether it will cost less (and how much less) for patients to choose high-quality palliative care. It surely isn’t the cheap fix to the health cost spiral.

    But we have some other hints. In a study of terminal cancer patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, those who had end-of-life conversations spent about one-third less in their last week than those who didn’t. And they had a better quality of life and death.

    Yes, those who didn’t talk about options had more aggressive treatment. They ended up in intensive care and/or on ventilators or were resuscitated. They not only had a worse quality of death by any measure, they left their families in more distress, and here’s the kicker: They didn’t live any longer.

    As the study’s author, Holly Prigerson, said, “Usually saving money comes at a cost to society or the patient and family. In this case it would appear to be a win-win.” The patients who got more expensive treatment, she added, “were not buying anything that any informed consumer would want.”

    Conversations about dying are never easy. Only about 20 percent of Americans have advance directives.

    This cultural silence lingers over a false and stark choice between “treatment”—the word we use to describe aggressive procedures—and fear of abandonment. Families may feel that if they aren’t doing “everything,” they are doing nothing. Patients may see the alternative to medical care as no care.

    We confuse life-prolonging and suffering-prolonging treatments. We don’t always hear about palliative care and hospice. This is precisely why we need to encourage these conversations.

    Some people will choose “everything.” Others will choose comfort care. But if we train and reimburse clinicians for the fine art of communicating, we’ll have an informed choice. And that’s what this teeny little clause in the great big health care bill does. It enables granny and grandpa and us to say how we want to die.

    So may we declare the scare biz bankrupt?

    Oh, no, what’s that I see on the horizon? “Obamacare Will Mandate Free Sex Change Operations.” More wing nuts for sale.

It may surprise you to learn that this EXACT Corporate Conservative Right-Wing tactic was used to bring down the liberal Weimar Republic of Germany by Hitler.  Here is Hitler’s words explaining how it’s done:

“It makes no difference whatever, whether they laugh at us or revile us, whether they represent us as clowns or criminals; the main thing is that they mention us, that they concern themselves with us again and again, and that we gradually in the eyes of the workers themselves APPEAR to be the ONLY POWER that anyone reckons with at the moment.”

“One can never count on protection on the part of the authorities; on the contrary, experience shows that it ALWAYS and EXCLUSIVELY benefits the DISTURBERS.  For the sole actual result of intervention by the authorities—- that is, the police—- was at best to dissolve, in other words, to close the meeting.  And that was the sole aim and purpose of the hostile DISTURBERS.”

“If through some sort of threats it becomes known to the authorities that there is danger of a meeting being broken up, they DO NOT ARREST the threateners, but forbid the others, the innocent, to hold the meeting, and what is more, the run-of-mill police mind is mighty proud of such wisdom.  They call this a ‘precautionary measure for the prevention of an illegal act.’  Thus, the determined gangster is always in a position to make political activity and efforts impossible for decent people.  In the name of Law and Order, the State Authority gives it to the gangster and requests the others please not to provoke him.”

It worked before, the Right EXTREME is hoping it will work again.

SteveL: No, it’s really not “Unreal that Social Security and Medicare recipients are showing up to disrupt meetings…” It’s the power of fear.  First, Americans in general don’t quite seem to “get it” that, when they rail against “government programs”, they are railing against their own Social Security and Medicare (not to mention funding for schools, police and fire departments, military, etc.)—the very programs upon which most people depend.  Thanks to liberal government social programs, we have such things as good subsidized housing for senior citizens and the elderly.

The Republican strategies we see, most recently in the planned disruptions of town hall meetings, really has little to do with government spending and programs per se.  After all, Republican administrations have proved to be outstanding at out-spending Democratic administrations; the big difference is that Republicans use public dollars to expand war/military and to cover the costs of tax “relief”, grants, etc., for the wealthy/corporations, while Democrats include spending on common-good programs, like class rooms and job training programs.

Yet too often, senior citizens assume that Republicans represent the best interests of older Americans. Indeed, Republicans have put quite a bit of effort into outreach to senior citizens in recent years, using scare tactics that are appalling, causing needless distress.

The problem is simple ignorance (and in general, Americans tend to be less informed than those in the more modern nations).  Republicans have taken advantage of this. It’s up to all of us who keep up with politics and policies to share what we know with those who haven’t had the time or ability to become informed.

And while you’re at it, tell your legislators what you think of politicians who lie to our parents or grandparents, causing so much anxiety, in hopes of “winning” a vote from them.

The whole subjective “framing of the innocent as determined gangsters” dialog by the Right to deny objective reality is straight out of the Play Book of the Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST Republican Party, “Mein Kampf” by Adolph Hitler.  The only pertinent question relative to the RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVE EXTREMIST REPUBLICAN dialog of Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, the birthers, the determined Democratic Party disturbers and all the other minions of sophist propagandists of the RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVE EXTREMIST REPUBLICAN PARTY, is whether or not democratic opposition is dumb enough to be sucked into Conservative RIGHT-WING use of Progressive subjective framing to DISTORT OBJECTIVE REALITY, and when caught be allowed to change the topic, make a plethora of new subjective accusations to DISTORT OBJECTIVE REALITY and start the whole dumb show all over again; this is what Adolph Hitler did and it worked well for him.

The question that we all have to ask ourselves today, at the start of the 21st Century, is whether or not we want to do the whole destructive Adolph Hitler dumb show all over again——We know where it leads and I don’t think anyone other than a fool would want to go there.

Clearly the problem here is how ruthless the special interests who benefit from the status quo are, and how completely without scruples.  The money that is being spent to foment these astroturf campaigns is obviously coming from the pharmaceutical and insurance industries.

People are rightly concerned that the complexity is beyond comprehension and a healthy dose of skepticism is definitely indicated.

However, the debate has been suborned.  This ought to cause people to be clear about what is going on, but a lot of people are not sophisticated about how crowds can be manipulated as a mere tactic for political advantage.

The astroturf campaign has actually been working.  The reform effort in Congress has backed off of even talking about the “single payer” system as an option.

It is obvious if you travel very much at all, that in every city in this country, the tallest, flashiest buildings are insurance industry offices.  Where does this much money come from?

Does anybody notice stuff like that or are we a bunch of cows that can just be led this way and that by the barking dogs?

TropicGirl We already have rationed care and patient dumping! Also limits on what treatment you get and its not the doctor it is the corporate health insurance company flunky who is whispering in the ear of the doctor rejecting that treatment you need to stay alive. It is cost cutting already and for the Death Care industry having you die is cheaper than keeping you alive. The fact that the majority of the money spent is in death care final hours is telling. I wonder how many people wouldn’t be dying in the ER if they had timely and at that stage much less expensive treatments?

My problem with the Health Care Bill, other than its enormous size, over 1500 pages, and the fact that the so-called writers of the bill don’t know and understand its full contents, is that single payer is off the table, and there is no debate or explanation of it. It might come in some way from the back door with a gov’t assist clause. That is just a maybe. The opponents label it as such for it would crater the Death Care industries immense profits. The other Death Merchants.

CONSERVATIVE EXTREME Political DISTURBERS & THREATENERS of the UNITED STATES Contrasted with ADOLPH HITLER’S POLITICAL DISTURBERS & THREATENERS

Town Halls Gone Wild: In one incident of right-wing outrage, protesters surrounded Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY), forcing police to escort him to his car.

ADOLPH HITLER SAID:  “If through some sort of threats it becomes known to the AUTHORITIES that there is danger of a meeting being broken up, they DO NOT ARREST the THREATENERS, but forbid the others, the innocent, to hold the meeting, and what is more, the run-of-mill police mind is MIGHTY PROUD of such wisdom.

Determined Gangsters Making Political Activity Impossible:    http://www.alternet.org/healthwellness/141811/health_c are_town_halls_"gone_wild”:_right-wingers_on_the_ramp age

“Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops and congressmen fearful for their safety” have marked the ugly scenes that have become the rule in recent days, as normally respectful meetings between representatives and their constituents have been inundated with right-wing protesters focused on killing health care reform. Over the weekend, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became one of the more widely publicized victims, when a mob of protesters chanting “just say no” to health care followed him out of an event. These encounters are being orchestrated by the same lobbyist-run groups—Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks—that brought together the tax day tea parties in April.

While trying to give the appearance of a “grassroots” uprising, the demonstrations are cover for a corporate-lobbyist engineered harassment strategy that encourages participants to “yell,” “stand up and shout,” and “rattle” elected officials in favor of reforming health care. Their goal—recently outlined by an influential lobbyist as “delay” then “kill”—is apparent: Having successfully delayed a vote until after the August recess, lobbyists are seizing on town halls to ambush lawmakers in an attempt to fool them and the greater public into thinking there is wide opposition to health care reform. Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs took a “hard line against the Tea-Party organized disruptions,” labeling them a “Brooks Brothers Brigade,” a reference to GOP staffers staging protests during the 2000 Florida recount.

The Memos: As with the tea parties, these town halls are “lessons in how political interests enlist human and technological resources to build political pressure while those responsible remain safely behind the curtain.” Last week, The Progress Report obtained a leaked memo from a volunteer with Tea Party Patriots, a website sponsored by Americans for Prosperity (AFP) (led by a former associate of Jack Abramoff) and FreedomWorks (led by former Republican Majority Leader and current lobbyist Dick Armey). The memo detailed how town hall goers should infiltrate meetings and harass Democratic members of Congress. The memo said activists should “stand up and shout out and sit right back down” so the representative is “made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.” The overall goal, said the memo, is to “rattle” the elected official. Earlier this week, a FreedomWorks volunteer, who doubles as a Tea Party protester, published another memo that outlined a strategy “for his fellow activists—a playbook of sorts for protesters seeking to disrupt and harass members of Congress during town hall forums in their districts.”

CONSERVATIVE EXTREME Political DISTURBERS & THREATENERS of the UNITED STATES Contrasted with ADOLPH HITLER’S POLITICAL DISTURBERS & THREATENERS

(Part 3 of 3)

A Broad Strategy: Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, has endorsed the strategy of staged protests, telling Politico the days of civil town halls are now “over.” In a memo to House Republicans, Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) promised “anger” during the August recess: “Americans’ anger will be on full display in the weeks ahead as Members of Congress leave Washington and travel the nation listening to the voices of their constituents.” The published memos are similar to talking points being distributed by FreedomWorks that push an anti-health reform assault all summer. Patients United, a front group maintained by AFP, is busing people all over the country to protest health care reform. America’s Health Insurance Plans, the trade group and lobbying juggernaut representing the health insurance industry, is also sending staffers to monitor town halls in 30 states. Meanwhile, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights (CPR), led by disgraced hospital executive Rick Scott, is running a national campaign against a public health care option. Yesterday, the group took credit for “helping gin up the sometimes-rowdy outbursts targeting House Dems at town hall meetings around the country, raising questions about their spontaneity.” Earlier in the week, a representative of CPR “sent an email to a list serve (called the Tea Party Patriots Health Care Reform Committee) containing a spreadsheet that lists over one hundred congressional town halls from late July into September.” And last weekend, CPR announced it will send staff to “confront” lawmakers at town halls and then transition to negative ads.

Town Halls Gone Wild: In one incident of right-wing outrage, protesters surrounded Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY), forcing police to escort him to his car. In another, anti-health care protesters hung up an effigy of Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) outside his district office in Salisbury, MD. The city was the site of a recent symposium on the dangers of “government-run health care,” sponsored by a group called “Patients First,” a project of AFP. Two nights ago, Reps. Steve Kagen (D-WI) and Steve Driehaus (D-OH) had to face down angry mobs. Kagen, whose town hall was targeted by the Wisconsin chapter of AFP, was “repeatedly disrupted” by “incomprehensible” shrieks and shouts from conservatives. And just last night, Fox’s local Houston affiliate reported that at a rowdy town hall hosted by Rep. Gene Green (D-TX), some attendees admitted “they don’t live in the district.” Still, Democrats are vowing not to let the disruptions stop health care reform. “I hope my colleagues won’t fall for a sucker-punch like this,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) told The Progress Report. “These health insurance companies and people like them are trying to load these town halls for visual impact on television.” Doggett agreed. After his town hall was ambushed he declared, “I am more committed than ever to win approval of legislation to offer more individual choice to access affordable health care. An effective public plan is essential to achieve that goal.” And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) promised Democrats wouldn’t waiver: “In spite of the loud, shrill voices trying to interrupt town hall meetings and just throw a monkey wrench into everything, we’re going to continue to be positive and work hard.”

ALL A SHOW TO WIN HEARTS AND MINDS TO THE minority POWER OF THE RIGHT and diminish the MAJORITY POWER OF THE LEFT in the peoples minds to render them defenseless in their minds.

This article does nothing to allay fears of killing grandma.

The American public is to smart not to realize that “cost cutting” and “end of life decisions” should NEVER be in the same sentence.

Euthanasia and fears of treatment of old people has a HUGE basis for worry. And, if you think that abortion is an issue with people, conservatives usually, euthanasia and variations of it are an even bigger fear. Francis Schaeffer spent just as much time on that issue as he did on abortion. (He is the scholarly father of the evangelical political movement).

This just might be the stupidest thing Obama ever did, to include this in the so-called health insurance reform bill. But, one of the writers of the “health insurance reform bill”, Rahm Emmanuel’s brother, DOES have some weird views on rationing health care and he has documented them. And we have been educated that Michelle Obama and David Axelrod participated in what is being called by many, “patient dumping.”

There is reason to be concerned.

I am a radical when it comes to this topic.  I believe that all humans have the right to determine the time and method of their death.  I know that religious dogma is opposed, but I don’t care at all.
We treat our pets better than we treat our parents.
Why shouldn’t someone get impersonal advice from an uninterested third party concerning death planning if they want it.  That advice should come from someone who has nothing to gain from that persons decision.
The problem here is that we think we have to choose between keeping Granny alive for another month and care for sick infants.  This is a false choice, because we have PLENTY OF MONEY to care for both.  We have an endless supply of money for wars on this or that, don’t we, well why not endless supply of money for healthcare.
Everyone dies and everyone will have to confront death planning at some point.  Shouldn’t that planning happen in a responsible manner. If that planning includes options to have physician assisted suicides, then SO WHAT!!!
People are entitled to dignity throughout their lives, including their deaths.
The religious dogma concerning this is just trash.  Family members assist their elders in dying all the time, they just don’t talk about it.  Its the biggest open secret in America.

If so then it is in concert with the death care corporations who would still be in business and still get the bucks for deciding who lives as who dies as they do now. If you look to Massachusetts you find that it is corporate health care out of the barrel of a gun.  It is ugly and it is attacked as “liberal health care” even though it was done by Mitt Romney! Gov’t mandated health insurance. Not single payer by any stretch.

They don’t just straddle the fence, the jump from one side to the other as they will to ‘win’ their argument at that time.

But I think the bottom line is that We the Ordinary aren’t as stupid as the media implies. I’m on Social Security and Medicare, and live in housing for seniors and people with disabilities. Most of us have been around long enough to recognize scare tactics and straight-out wingnuttery when we see it. We are knowledgeable about the programs, and the politics. I don’t personally know a soul who has fallen for the “Be Afraid!” strategy. Time has shown that the Democratic Party protects Medicare, while the Republican Party has consistently (for decades!) railed against Medicare and Social Security. If your very survival depends on Medicare and Social Security, which party would you trust?

Not all of it is “wing nut” anyway. But being that you are well schooled in psychiatry and self named “voice of truth” then we should listen eh? The MAFIA hit in the crowded elevator or bomb on an airplane works every time as long as you don’t care who else dies does it?

Now what were those wing nut items that places like MSNBC and Pacifica Radio are promoting now? You can’t find any unless you mis name those items like Mumia Abu-Jamal as a conspiracy. And we are told constantly that conspiracies of any kind, unless it is approved by the gov’t as illegal activity, should be dismissed out of hand. Again simplification of the complex is fraught with error.

As for the crack at Keith Olberman he is way beyond you in depth of understanding of politics and history. That is what has impressed me over most of the talking heads on places like Fark News. I wonder how many of them didn’t get that “aggressive treatment” paid for by their Health Insurance company? Since the cost cutting applies at their end as a number cruncher decides what treatment you should get—-not the doctor. The cost of life and death are in their hands, not ours! Don’t hear them talking about that do we?

Voice of truth [sic] only partly right. Here is where I disagree with your list.

—-O.J. was guilty but the police threw the case by using false evidence so the jury let him off. Do you blame the jury or the police?
—-The supreme court acted illegally by ruling on “Bush v Gore” instead of returning it to Florida as is constitutional.
—-Heterosexuals are less likely to contract AIDS as gays but not that much less. [In whites it is harder to get infected even if exposed.]
—-Tawana Brawley was shown to have lied about being raped by white police officers, Al Sharpton was wrong.
—-G.W.Bush did shirk his duty in the National Guard, there is no evidence of what he was doing for a year. It had been destroyed per his orders.
—-The spectacularly guilty Mumia Abu-Jamal was framed; yes and the evidence is there with retracted witness coerced testimony that sent him to death row, the racist judge who sentenced him was brought out of retirement to make sure he didn’t get a trial. There are many more. [See Leonard Peltier for another example of a political prisoner.]
—-The Diebold Corp. secretly stole thousands of Kerry votes in 2004; start with 1996 when they won the election for…(?) in Nebraska, amazing all of those blacks who suddenly voted for him.

What prompted this list and those particular items and why do you consider them on the same par?

It also bothers me that you lump so much together, the important and the inconsequential and any who disagree with all of them, any of, are “nut jobs” in your practiced eyes? You demand us to seek the important from the trivial but you can’t yourself!

Seems to me having an election stolen in 2000 does rate real high. The one stolen in 2004 was through vote counting fraud in Ohio as per the governor’s promise. That too is vastly more important than John Edward’s marital infidelity. You can discern relative importance can’t you? By your list I don’t think so. One is like the other to you

Just remember that if conspiracies didn’t exist we wouldn’t have specific legal charges that address “criminal conspiracy” on the books would we?

—Sarah Palin’s infant child, Trig, was actually the child of her daughter; (no)

—Justice Antonin Scalia threw the 2000 election to Bush so that his son could get a legal job with the Labor Department; (no, but the Supreme Court decided in Bush’s favour, and all the GOP-appointed judges concurred.)

—The spectacularly guilty Mumia Abu-Jamal was framed; (yes, by the police, who collect the evidence and have quite the history of executing Black leaders)

-The Diebold Corp. secretly stole thousands of Kerry votes in 2004; (neutral, although making Ohio voters stand 10 hours in line to vote accomplished the same thing.)

—Duke lacrosse players gang-raped a stripper; (unsure, but jocks have a history of sexually abusive behavior)

—Bill Clinton did not have sex with “that woman”; (yes but so what?)

—Heterosexuals are just as likely to contract AIDS as gays; (are you referring to HIV or Acquired Intelligence Deficiency Syndrome?)

—John Edwards didn’t have an affair with Rielle Hunter; (yes, while hiking the Appalachian Trail)

—Bush invaded Afghanistan so that Unocal could build an oil pipeline. (partly, but in Perpetual War this is a good target, being unwinnable)

—Tawana Brawley was raped by white police officers as Al Sharpton claimed. (it wouldn’t be the first time.)

—The World Trade Center was blown up with explosives, not taken down by terrorists in airplanes. (no, but the investigation was flawed and should be revisited, properly. The way Bush & Co. used this to establish a police state is more pertinent)

Voice of truth, remember next time to use heavy-duty aluminum foil for your hat.

Question
If the ‘devote’ Holey Rollers have so much faith in Gods will- why do they insist on every ‘bell and Whistle’ be dragged out to extend a loved ones life?
(Granted there are those like the asshole who wouldn’t let his child be treated for cancer, recently.)
But more often than not it seems the Zealots ‘choke’ when the time is at hand. Brain Dead - throw on a ventilator for 20 yrs. Perhaps God is Calling and you are blocking the line.And if God is merciful, why be afraid? if you fucked up and led a ‘sinful’ life- you got no time to make up for it now anyway.
Having Worked in Long term Care as a social worker- most feel they have lived longer than they should have - or wanted to. Most have lost their families, spouse,friends and even kids. My Grandmother cried because she thought God was punishing her by not taking her earlier.
I suspect most those who are doing the ‘Grandma’s gonna die’ Bit have never really discussed the subject of death and dying with a senior.
But this topic is not just about Grandma, it’s about all of us. So realistically it is the Repugs who are being the Ageists here. All adults should have ‘Advanced Directives’, should discuss their wishes with loved ones and medical professionals.
Besides considering these are the same folks who wanted to put Social Security on the Stock market, who have tried for decades to gut Medicare and distest such ‘Welfare’ programs like Medicaid (which pays for long term care for many Seniors)...Who’s been Trying to kill of Granny????

@voice of truth

First of all, your name is pretty arrogant. You have a high opinion of yourself, don’t you?

Second, I don’t know a single person who believes any of these items in your laundry list. The very fact that you can conjure up such a list, however, tells us all a lot about you. You would surely lose your proposed bet.

Lastly, you claim to deplore the use of “emotions” rather than facts. In that case why not refrain from using such loaded language like “Left Wingers” which clearly plays to… wait for it… EMOTIONS.

Have you no sense of irony?

But I confess to having mixed feelings about the resurgence of the wing-nut industry.

Not me. Time to start having fun again!

Funny how the only places that I see anything on these so-called “birthers” is from the left wing!  However, I’d be willing to bet a vast amount of people who regularly visit this site believe:

—O.J. is innocent;

—Bush shirked his National Guard duty;

—Sarah Palin’s infant child, Trig, was actually the child of her daughter;

—Justice Antonin Scalia threw the 2000 election to Bush so that his son could get a legal job with the Labor Department;

—The spectacularly guilty Mumia Abu-Jamal was framed;

—The Diebold Corp. secretly stole thousands of Kerry votes in 2004;

—Duke lacrosse players gang-raped a stripper;

—Bill Clinton did not have sex with “that woman”;

—Heterosexuals are just as likely to contract AIDS as gays;

—John Edwards didn’t have an affair with Rielle Hunter;

—Bush invaded Afghanistan so that Unocal could build an oil pipeline.

—Tawana Brawley was raped by white police officers as Al Sharpton claimed.

—The World Trade Center was blown up with explosives, not taken down by terrorists in airplanes.

Need I go on?  There are nuts on all sides of the political spectrum, they should be taken for what they are.

As I said in a different post yesterday.  Lose the hypocrisy and blinders, use facts rather than emotions, and then, just maybe, the adults in this country can have a real debate over where we are headed, or need to head.
