How Long Can GOP Leaders Ignore Tea Party Death Threats?

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin speaks at a campaign rally for Sen. John McCain at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson on Friday.

By Eugene Robinson

Let’s not pretend anymore that the tea party movement is harmless. The right to protest is one of our cherished American freedoms. But there is no right to vandalism, no right to threaten our elected officials’ lives. Someone is going to get hurt unless those who lead the movement—and those who exploit it—start acting like responsible adults.

What are the chances of that?

It was Sarah Palin, the Eva Peron of the tea party crowd, who used Facebook to target 20 Democrats who voted for health care reform, indicating their districts’ locations on a map with the cross hairs of a rifle scope. It was Palin who wrote on Twitter: “Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: ‘Don’t Retreat, Instead—RELOAD!’ Pls see my Facebook page.”

That anyone still listens to this person is one of the most unfortunate unintended consequences of social networking.

At least 10 House Democrats have had to request additional security following Sunday’s health care vote. Someone left a coffin on the lawn of Rep. Russ Carnahan’s home in Missouri. Glass doors and windows were broken at the district offices of Reps. Louise Slaughter of New York and Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona. Vandals have damaged Democratic Party offices in Wichita, Kan., Rochester, N.Y., and Cincinnati.

Square, Site wide
And Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan, whose last-minute compromise on abortion funding guaranteed final passage of the reform act, has received a flood of abusive phone calls at his office and home. Someone faxed him a drawing of a noose. One voice mail, subsequently posted on the Internet, was left by a woman who wanted Stupak to know that “there are millions of people across the country who wish you ill.” Another caller was more direct: “You’re dead. We know where you live. We’ll get you.”

One would expect responsible Republican leaders to do everything in their power to lower the temperature. House Minority Leader John Boehner said on Fox News that “violence and threats are unacceptable.” Minority Whip Eric Cantor disclosed that he has received numerous threats in the past and that a bullet was fired through the window of his Richmond, Va., campaign office last week. [Editor’s note: The Associated Press reported Thursday that Richmond police had determined that the bullet that struck the window had been randomly fired into the sky.] Given all this, one would think these two might have intervened Sunday when fellow House Republicans were whipping up the angry tea party crowd at the Capitol.

Some of the vandalism appears to have been inspired by an Alabama blogger, Mike Vanderboegh, who trumpeted the bright idea that opponents of health care reform should throw bricks at Democratic headquarters across the country. After someone did just that in Rochester, a reporter from the Democrat and Chronicle called Vanderboegh for comment. “I guess that guy’s one of ours,” Vanderboegh said. “Glad to know people read my blog.”

If authorities tried to file any charges against him, Vanderboegh said, a trial “would certainly give me an opportunity to make my case to a larger public.” The nature of his “case” may be illuminated by a short story, titled “Absolved,” that he published on a right-wing website. His fictional protagonist fights to the death against unnamed, uniform-wearing “thugs”—apparently police—who have come to his house to confiscate his huge arsenal of guns and explosives.

On Thursday, tea party leaders around the country issued statements strongly denouncing threats or violence against members of Congress or anyone else. A number of the leaders said there was no proof that the perpetrators were members of tea party organizations.

But this strikes me, and probably will strike others, as disingenuous. The tea party movement is fueled by rhetoric that echoes the paranoid ravings of the most extreme right-wing nutcases. When tea party leaders talk about the threat of “socialism” and call for “a new revolution” and vow to “take our country back,” they can say they are simply using vivid metaphors. But they cannot plausibly claim to be unaware that there are people—perhaps on the fringe of the movement, but close enough—who give every sign of taking these incendiary words literally.

And does anyone doubt that the movement attracts the kind of people who take these words literally?

Organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center have documented the troubling rise of right-wing militia and “patriot” groups. Political leaders who appropriate and reinforce the extremists’ language—who urge angry people to “reload”—are being reckless. They must stop this madness before someone gets hurt.

On March 31st, in a spoof of Glenn Beck quoting the
words on the Statue of Liberty, I wrote, “Give me
your tired, your homeless, and I’ll send them down
to West Virginia to work in the mines for slave
labor.”  Little did I know at that time the tragedy
that would occur in a coal mines explosion yesterday
at a mines in West Virginia killing several miners.
My grandfather worked 50 years in the mines.  My
father worked 40 years in the mines.  I worked six
months on midnight shift while attending undergraduate school.  I hated every minute of it.
When I was a kid I would not go to sleep until I
heard dad talking to mom downstairs in the kitchen.
I could then go to sleep because I knew he had made
it home safely from the mines.  Just one example of
what children in coal mining towns experience.  There
are many fearful and sad families in West Virginia
tonight, especially children.  My thoughts and prayers go out to them.  Since men were killed several years ago at Sago mines about an hour
from where I was raised there have been a few laws
passed to further protect miners.  I’ll be listening
to the news over the next few days to see how the
enforcement of those laws relate to what happened
yesterday.  The men at the mine at Sago suffocated
because there was only enough oxygen to last 30
minutes.  It’s a shame we live in a nation that can
go to the moon and back and yet let men die in a
dark, dirty, dangerous coal mine because they didn’t
have enough oxygen to breathe.  I understand there
has been a law passed that now requires the storage
of more oxygen throughout coal mines.  There are
still 19 men missing.  I pray these men are found
alive because they now have enough oxygen to breathe
until rescue teams can reach them.

David Ehrenstein,

Perhaps we can address my questions another
way.

Can you explain in some details the difference
between referring to someone as a
“Rethuglican”, who should not be heard from,
and a Nigger who should know his place in
society?

-

Bigotry is defined by intolerance for whole
groups of people unlike one’s self.  Is this
not correct?

You failed to answer my questions.

When you look in the mirror each day are you
aware of your hatred and intolerance toward
those unlike yourself?  Are you consciously
gathering whole groups of people together and

it more a deeply rooted, subconscious,

I have a question in which you seem well suited to address: Does a bigot inherently know he or she is a bigot?

In other words; when you, personally, look in the mirror each day are you aware of your hatred and intolerance toward those unlike yourself?  Are you consciously gathering whole groups of people together and condemning them as lesser human beings or, is it more a deeply rooted, subconscious, pathology?

Just curious.

Greetings, DE —

And what could be more fitting for a “PR Save” than a photo gallery of the 3/20/10 DC Tea Partiers? Check out my “lying eyes” at my latest post:

I am having difficulty deciding how The Tea Party
should present their candidates.  Should it be
Sarah Palin for President and Glenn Beck for Vice-President or vice-versa?  I taped Rev. Beck’s program
yesterday and have been watching it for a few minutes
until I fell asleep.  As I drifted into unconsciousness I could hear Glenn’s voice repeating
the words on The Statue of Liberty, “Give me your
tired, your poor, etc.”  Suddenly, I awoke!  Glenn
was being deceptive again.  He left out the important
words, “Give me your tired, your poor. Send these,
the homeless to me and I’ll send them down to West
Virginia to work in the coal mines for slave labor.”
That sneaky little deceptive Glenn Beck.  I caught

I photographed the 3/20/10 DC Tea Party as a freelance photographer and can
say that racism did NOT characterize that rally, the people, or the day’s entire
events — and certainly does not characterize the movement. Any such
incidents that may occur at the Tea Parties are isolated, although you wouldn’t
know that if you weren’t there or had to rely on the mainstream media to report
accurately about the Tea Parties.

I posted three blog posts, including photos and an audio slideshow, regarding
the 3/20/10 DC Tea Party addressing the Tea Party people, the health-care
reform bill and the charges of racism. My latest blog post is titled: “Are Tea
Party Conservatives Racists?” and can be found at:

http://912photos.com/are-tea-party-conservatives-racists.html

A full photo gallery of the 3/20/10 DC Tea Party is coming up in the next post.
The photos reveal spirited citizen dissent — not racism or bigotry.

A review of the comments in various forums reveals clearly the folk who are interested in genuine comments and factual information. Comments of propagandists typically engage in the pattern of israeli scapegoating, a pattern that has been adopted by non-israeli pimps who sit in cubicles opposite each other in various underground locations, and increasingly, above-ground locations.  “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”
—William Casey, CIA Director (from first staff meeting, 1981) as recorded by the great American investigator/historian, Mrs. Mae Brussell.

The factual info presented on this thread by Go Right Young Man, March 29 at 12:35 pm., plus that by wiseowl, March 29 at 1:31 pm, same thread, adequately cover the factual status of “information,” and the murderous plan of the world´s “elite dozen”  for what´s left of the USofA.  Lindsey Williams delineates the plan of the “elite dozen” rather accurately.

Added thereto might be the destructive effects on the red-blooded population of the entire earth by mobile-telephone re-transmitter stations, plus the focusing-in of harmful electro-magnetic beams by US satellites on specific locations, the “seeding” of contrails/clouds with particles that are toxic to humans, the effects of the HAARP on world weather, and the planned, forced-injections (alleged vaccinations) of toxic viruses and chemicals into American children and adults, via the recently-passed, “alleged health reform” garbage.  The World Health Organization´s recent plan to wipe out a generation of native African youth via injections of the toxic, “polio vaccine” should also be added.

The combined efforts of “Democrats” and “Republicans” in the passage of the recent “health-reform-fraud” demonstrates that differences between the two exists largely in names of the two “groupings.”  The majority of both seem to be victims of the CIA MIND-CONTROL- MKULTRA program. One may postulate that these efforts have resulted in the loss of logic ability, or in general mental retardation.

Congratulations to Go Right Young Man, for having presented such pithy comments as to have won the pseudonym of “GRYM” from those propagandists who hate truth and accuracy.

Most people paying attention to this issue have seen the YouTube Clip you shared here.  Would you be kind enough to point out the people calling others the N-word?

And, for my benefit, would you point out anyone being violent at this event?

Also might you hold an opinion as to why Nancy Pelosi led her members to “symbolically” march directly through the protesting crowd? - Some of my most ardent critics here will never attempt an answer.  All I ever get are lazy and cowardly Hit and Run attacks.

Monsanto: Bush/Clinton venture; destroying the environment is only the TIP of it folks! READ: “seeds of deception”; IT IS TO COVER UP THE TRUTH OF THE MALNUTRION of the PEOPLE, with what THIS “elite” so called has DONE to the FOOD LINE! not only HERE but GLOBALLY! (watching Karl Rove on Charlie Rose excitedly saying the USA was in Somalia, and Yemen, and taking THIS SYSTEM EVERYWHERE! EVERYWHERE! EVERYWHERE! as if having an orgasm) if you EVER THOUGHT this system was GOOD: better THINK AGAIN!
THIS system they call “for the greater good”: means warehousing meds, food, water: in Haiti & everywhere else it has “taken” it: telling those in charge to guard it with weapons supplied by the USA GOV: and force the PEOPLE to pay more more more. THIS is what “democracy” means.
**************WE NEED TO END THIS MONOPOLY and get BACK to the BASICS: of nutrition; our HOMES are full of TOXIC WASTE: drywall, tiles, carpeting, EVERY AREA and ARENA of our lives are ALL GEARED to HARM US MEDICALLY. THIS is NOT a GOVERNMENT at all!
So UNSUPRISINGLY: not ONE SINGLE GOV AGENCY is doing the JOB it is supposed to DO. SIMPLY creating an “illusion” that it is.
What is NEEDED and NECESSARY: is simple: we need a GROUP of MEN and WOMEN: who are as DEDICATED and DEVOTED to doing GOOD: as these folks are to filling THEIR pocketbooks by harming EVERYONE: in their CITIES, their COUNTIES, their STATES, FEDERALLY and GLOBALLY.

Andrew Breitbart is UPPING THE STAKES: $100K to United Negro College Fund if Rep Lewis shows evidence of anyone yelling the N-Word at CBC at last weeks Capitol HCR protest.

-

Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri charged that a protester had been arrested for spitting on him. But here’s the thing; no one was arrested that day.  Video of the alleged incident shows a protester yelling at Cleaver, but not spitting on him or uttering racist epithets.

  1. Cleaver’s office initially stated that the ‘spitter’ was arrested. The Capitol Police said this wasn’t true.

  2. Cleaver’s office said the ‘spitter’ was detained, but that Cleaver declined to press charges. The Capitol Police said this wasn’t true.

    3. Cleaver’s office said that Cleaver was asked by the Capitol Police to identify the detained spitter, and he declined to because he didn’t want charges to be filed. Again, according to Capital Police, this also isn’t true.

The fact is not a single arrest was made that day.  That’s fairly odd since the entire media world is scared to death after the violence and the unruly protests of the day.

-

As House Members decided to undertake a “symbolic” march, purposefully and directly through the crowd of protesters, congressional aids were seen to be video taping the entire march.  I find it fascinating that not one filming aid, not one media outlet present, captured anyone yelling racial epithets or spitting or violence of any kind.

Here is what we do know: Rep. Andre Carson told a reporter that as he left the Cannon House Office Building with Rep. John Lewis, a leader of the civil rights era, some among the crowd chanted “the N-word, the N-word, 15 times.” Both Carson and Lewis are black, and Lewis spokeswoman Brenda Jones also said that it occurred.

So, basically, the entire media charge that protesters were yelling the N-Word comes from who?  Three democrats but nobody else?

Perhaps Mr. Robinson, who has been charging widespread racism against Mr. Obama since before the 2008 primaries, should have asked, why?  Why did Nancy Pelosi and a handful of democrats take the highly unusual step of doing a “symbolic” march directly through the protesters?  The slightest bit of critical thinking would have raised many red flags in regards to this entire incident.

Can anyone here show some type of evidence, anything at all, of a pattern of violence, other than the well documented violence against protesters, to date?  I for one would like to see it.

In the mean time I still believe the Robinson article above is the most idiotic and racist columns I have ever seen him submit.

Who needs foreign moles from outside the U.S.A. to do the U.S.A. in ?
The concept, that Mrs. S. Palin - or any political personage NOT currently in power - will remove rights of Americans - is artificially contrived by the propagandists who want to prevent her being elected, more or less “unbeknownst,” as the Patriot, Jesse Ventura, former governor of Minnesota was elected.
The rights of Americans were removed via administrative decree by G.H.W. Bush Jr. and the various “Patriot Acts,” subsequently approved by the U.S. Congress.  The concept against Mrs. S. Palin may be classified as propaganda generated by the system that has threatened various US Congressional representatives with assassination if they did not vote for certain bills.  Which threats are simply evidence of the NAZI/CIA/MOSSAD machine at work.
In his speech, July 2008 in Colorado Springs, Mr. Barak Hussein Obama called for a national, civilian security force, equal to the US Military, but not sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution.  This force has now been authorized by senate revisions of the
recent “Health Bill,” Subtitle C, Sec. 5201-5210.  “Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 204) is amended to read as follows: SEC. 203.
COMMISSIONED CORPS AND READY RESERVE CORPS.”  Sec. 5209. Elimination of cap on commissioned corps.”
The person in the US presidential position makes the decision of how many, and can increase it to more than the constituency of the total U.S. military forces, which are sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution, whether they are doing it or not - - .  Talk about violation of the U.S. Constitution.  And penned by certain members of the U.S. Senate?
Neither a Mrs. Sarah Palin, nor persons allegedly organizing this artificially-contrived concept, except perhaps propagandists who are using it as a distraction, had anything to do with the alleged, “health care” bill, which undermines not only health in the USA, but also the U.S. Military.
DICTATOR-ENABLING changes in the recent “health reform bill,” made by alleged “representatives” in the U.S. Senate were approved by the U.S. Congress; naively disregarding the authority bestowed/required of them by the U.S. Constitution.  Meanwhile, propagandists were distracting via attacks on Mrs. Sarah Palin, and the propagandistic concept of anarchists organizing a “tea party.”  Who needs foreign moles from outside the U.S.A. to do the U.S.A. in, when congressional “representatives” are doing a marvellous job if it from the inside ?

My problem at the moment are racists like Eugene Robinson and the open bigots on this thread who used to court Michael Moore, or snooze about books and movies suggesting scenarios of killing George Bush, who turned a blinds eye away from violent discourse and toward wild, always unproven, accusations of every crime known to humans are suddenly worried about uncivil discourse.

My problem is the hypocrisy you and others here practice yet seem completely unaware of.

My problem is with those who preach on peace, unity, and inclusiveness as long as you agree with them.

My problem is with everyone here who can, apparently, ignore the blatant race baiting on MSNBC but rail against a very small number of whack-jobs amongst lawful and peaceful protesters.

I trust I have made myself clear on what my problem is.  Racism, bigotry and hypocrisy.

Sarah Palin has been reckless and irresponsible in her rhetoric since the early
of her sorry VP campaign, and as documented by Alaskans who followed her
career rise in their state.  It is one of the reasons why, even Republicans, were
afraid of seeing her a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.  Not to mention her
complete ignorance, to the point of not even knowing that Africa was a
continent!

Now we also see one of the fewer and better qualities of John McCain—his
“spirit of bipartisanship”—vanishing as all Republicans cave in to the loonies
in their ranks who demand total obedience to their fanaticism—or else, as
shown in their behavior towards Stupak (a Democrat who temporarily pleased
them)—“watch out!”

Anyone who thinks you can “please” a teabagger by demonstrating a partial
agreement with them on issues—in order to “reach out” and “find
understanding” or perhaps, move towards a better understanding, is gravely
mistaken.

They are militants concerned with power and conquest.

THE US WORKERS HAVE 2 OPTIONS: RUIN OR REVOLUTION, SOCIALISM OR BARBARISM, ANARCHISM OR ANNIHILATION

The anarchist Murray Bookchin noted that the hierarchical structures of modern capitalism threaten human survival through nuclear war or ecological catastrophe (he wrote before global warming became so obvious). “No longer are we faced with Marx’s famous choice of socialism or barbarism; we are confronted with the more drastic alternatives of anarchism or annihilation. The problems of necessity and survival have become congruent with the problems of freedom and life” (1986; p.62). In the event of a nuclear war, we would be lucky to have barbarism!

This analysis does not change the basic argument: in a social system which both creates the possibility of a free and productive society (what Bookchin calls “post-scarcity anarchism”) and which has drives which threaten catastrophe, socialist-anarchism is not inevitable. But it is needed (by the most modest of moral standards, such as, it is good for the human species to survive)

Therefore the workers and all oppressed people need to become aware of the danger and to decide to make a revolution and build a new society. (Unfortunately, Bookchin did not quite draw this conclusion, since he had come to reject the centrality of the working class and the need for a revolution, rather similarly to Cleaver the Marxist.)

Ruin or revolution! Socialism or barbarism! Anarchism or annihilation! These slogans (of Engels, Luxemburg, and Bookchin) are central to understand the alternative we face. (The libertarian socialist and ex-Trotskyist Cornelius Castoriadis, in the 1950s, called his French grouping “Socialisme ou Barbarie”; Cleaver, 1967/2000.) One of these choices (ruin/barbarism/annihilation) will be the outcome if capitalism is given its head; if the bourgeoisie is allowed to blindly run it into the ground; if the system is permitted to follow its innate tendencies (objective laws) to their bitter end. The other (revolutionary socialist-anarchism) requires that the working class become aware of the danger, conscious of the possible alternative to disaster, and decides to take the choice of freedom, cooperation, radical democracy, ecological balance, and internationalism.

I discuss three possible approaches above (inevitability of revolution, subjectivity, the interrelation of the objective crisis and the subjective choice). Which is the “correct” interpretation of the Marxism of Marx and Engels, I do not know, or much care

Some things need to be cleared up here, the original Tea Partyers were Ron Paul supporters, they want no War in Iraq or Afghanistan, no Financial bail outs, they want to End The Fed, they are libertarians. Then out of the blue it gets hijacked by Palin and the Neocons. My thought is Palin and the Neocons were terrified by the original TPs, and decided to mess it up by sending in thugs and racists. I hope that the original TPs sit down with some of the Progressive elements, because they share views on War and Corpocracy.

Robinson and others on this thread can make the Tea Party crowd all about racism and bigotry all he wishes.  But he will continue to miss the point of what these people are protesting.  All it would take is a genuine desire to authentically listen.

Imagining this crowd to be made up of conservative republicans is the epitome of blinding bigotry and foolishness.

According to an MBC/WSJ poll more than four in 10, 41%, of likely voters said they had a very or somewhat favorable view of the Tea Party movement, while 24% said they had a somewhat or very negative view of the group.

Meanwhile the Democratic Party, has a 35% positive rating compared with a 45% negative rating.

The Republican Party identifies closest to the Tea Party movement’s ideology, but the group has also caused splits within the GOP. Republicans currently hold a 28% favorability rating compared with a 43% negative one.

According to the poll 61% of Tea Party participants are self proclaimed independents. -  The people who actually decide national elections.

Robinson and most on this thread are making, not only a wholly bigoted mistake but, a hugely foolish mistake.

Any specifics or details to help us understand what ‘the Democrats” have done that would fall in the ‘incredibly awful’ category?  I mean, can you narrow it down a bit more than just ‘incredibly awful’?  I’d be really interested to know, since I’m one of them Dems, and so if I’ve ‘forgotten’ this, it’s probably because we haven’t done anything ‘awful’. Still too busy trying to clean up the shit the Repugnicans put us in over the past 3 decades, leaving the former Thug Regime of the Dick Bush Era to virtually wipe us out.  And….that’s what they did. So the only thing ‘incredible’ that the Democrats have done, specifically in terms of what we hired the Obama Admin to do, is to actually manage to keep us half-way afloat as we attempt to dig ourselves out of a disaster that I thought for sure would leave NO survivors.

In fact, now that I think about it, there has NEVER been a time in the history of the USA, when our nation has been as close to complete collapse as it was when Barack Obama assumed the office in Jan of 2009. And that’’s a fact!. It wasn’t this bad when Roosevelt took over in the Depression, because we ‘ve had far, far, far, too much damage done by so many decades of repugnicans driving us and the country into the proverbial ditch.  Politically, our original form of government as a Constitutional Republic (AKA Democracy) was riding on fumes, twisted grotesquely into a near Totalitarian State/Oligarchy. Cyrena, I’m with you 100%, but the Dems (and I am one) have THEIR share of responsibility, too.  Our Congressional delegations in both Houses have been spineless jellyfish afraid of their own shadows for years, allowing such atrocities as Alito and Roberts to be confirmed.  Even when they recaptured BOTH houses in 2006, they acted as if they were in the minority.  Since B.O. took office they have been terrified of 40 Re-thug Senators.  Simply amazing.

The Re-thugs, even with slim majorities managed to get things done they wanted.  Shitty things, evil things, but the point is they GOT their agenda through with far less clout than the Dems who wasted a YEAR on the HC plan.

On that charge, the Dems are, sadly, very guilty.

If the comment that described Lady Palin as, ” not

is reasonably accurate,
then she fits in perfectly with our presidential

simply indicates to me that Madam

Tea partiers are dead men walking.  They are clustered on the trailing edge of history where everything they once had is slipping away from them and sadly everything they hope for is in the past.  They are sclerotic, old and confused. They depended more than most on government programs like social security and medicare because during their productive years they were stuck in the old economy which didn’t permit them to amass retirement savings.  And yet the very government that is providing them with their wherewithal is the recipient of their hatred.  Like adolescents, Tea baggers resent the parents who provided for them.  Their problems arise from psychological factors and not political factors.  They resent the new world that is being born around them, which is multicultural and multiracial and whose benefits will be communal as well as individual.  And the old people drinking tea cannot adapt to the new world.

As always, a well written piece by Eugene. The Republicans, as David Frum so candidly pointed out, have created this monster, but now the tail is wagging the dog. I think the Republicans have utterly no clue what to do about this, so they deny it is a real problem. When asked to make a joint statement with the Dems, the Party of No mentality immediately takes over. The Republicans are eating their own moderates and forcing themselves into a position where they are a fringe party. Maybe if this lasts another twenty years we can correct the nightmares of domestic and foreign policy that have come from Republicans in the White House for 20 of the past 29 years.

David Rockefeller in a speech THANKED THE NEWS MEDIA in the USA for KNOWING all along WHAT was going on & keeping their discretion: for if the LIGHTS of PUBLICITY had been SHOWN on what was going on they never would have gotten away with it as the PEOPLE of the USA would NEVER have put up with it. It is RUN from Fed, (our CONGRESSMEN) to St, to county to city: in each place: a group of men dedicated & devoted to HARMING their country men: for THEIR personal profit & personal gain: backed up by judges.
LAWS are NOT followed by Congress: judges, nor anyone else: the PEOPLE are LAW ABIDING for the most part: and the LEADERS are NOT!
ARE the PEOPLE of the USA like the FOLLOWERS of Jim JONES? He hobnobbed with Pres, politicians: and had his “followers” drink poisoned kool aid: and he planned on taking off with all their loot (just like our politicians & their “corp” friends;)
HEALTH wise: nutrition was removed from sugar, salt, flour: by ROCKEFELLER, working with DOW: by CHEMICALS: to cause diabetes, high blood pressure, and cysts & more; DOCTORS were “promoted” via MEDIA: as Rockefeller owns 93 per cent of the huge pharmacutical; docs are PAID to meet prescription costs and the insurance companies do NOT have to pay a thing: IF it effects their “profits”: FEDERAL LAW. Insurance coverage STOPS when the PEOPLE get ill; The ones who DO THIS: insurance companies are part of what THESE criminals & crooks CALL COUNTRY. Those who are AWARE, WORKING WITH, and profiting GREATLY by harming what WE the PEOPLE call COUNTRY!!!!
They are X RAYING all food, adding chicken manure to hot dogs to make them more appealing, and worse; http://www.naturalnews.com; http://www.motherearth.com; & others TELL THE TRUTH!
They have surpassed the Nazi’s in “torture” which they call “enhanced” interrogation: and it is ONLY for their own “SICK” viewing pleasure. http://www.billmoyersjournal.com; http://www.torturingdemocracy.org; http://www.truthout.org; and many others.
SO dedicated to HARMING the PEOPLE first HERE in the USA then on to GLOBALLY: Don Rumsfeld, author of “we are a force for good” bought a home called Mt misery. googling his name & Monsanto ONLY gets you almost 2m hits; asparteme & his name will get you many more.
Not ONE single Gov agency is DOING the JOB it should be; they are only there to CREATE AN ILLUSION that they are doing SOMETHING POSITIVE; they are NOT!
SOOOOO: DO NOT LET THE so called “republicans” or so called “democrats” STOP: what has to be done. DOING AWAY with this CRIMINALLY RUN SYSTEM that is DEDICATED to HARMING US the PEOPLE!
Food inc; exposes a PART of it; it is a SYSTEM of LYING and DECEPTION: they USE the MEDIA to create ILLUSIONS and cause DISTRACTIONS and DIVERSIONS.
BASIC GOVERNING: is DOING that which is MOST BENEFICIAL to the PEOPLE: which includes the PLANET as well.

“Nearly 350 right-wing protestors crowded a New Mexico town’s busiest intersection yesterday to protest President Obama’s supposed anti-gun agenda and the “government takeover of our health care system.” While the event mostly looked like any other recent right-wing rally — complete with signs reading “replace the communists in DC” and “the sky is falling! A black man is president!” — what set this protest apart was that there “were plenty of handguns and rifles displayed.”

Your attempt to divert this issue to a discussion of Eugene Robinson’s supposed bigotry, and MSNBC’s bias is very typical of you.

Sometime in the future we’ll be able to discern whether these right wing lunatics were just a brief aberration, or the vanguard of fascist thuggery.

Manufacturers of ammunition are unable to keep up with demand. The Oath Keepers claim 40,000 members, and they are spoiling for a fight, any fight. The anger and hatred coming from the right is obvious.

Responsible people from the left and right need to speak out against this lunacy, and not turn this phenomenon into another partisan debate, and not deny the reality of what is currently happening.

As i see it US system not only allows but demands that some people prosper more, much, and very much more than other people.

Once, in my eyes, this iniquity had been institutionalized; i.e., enacted and backed by army-cia-fbi-police echelons and most of their subordinates, the iniquity cannot ever bring fruit.

It is actually not the system that does this but people who initially set it and people who now maintain it.

Judiciary-congress-WH being just the tip of the iceberg of actual power in US; being in effect a kind of show business.

As i have said a few times before on many sites, the wars agaisnt buffalonia had ended, but the wars against 4-5 neo-indians are just begining.

No one knows what those thar mountains and valleys of asia contain, but those people who control america with an unprecedented grip really don’t care-the wars must go on and hope there is a lot of oil, gas, molibdenum, nickel, titanium, iron, and other goodies there.

Meanwhile, medical care, right to be informed ab these wars, right to an education, right to be represented in congrees will just have to wait.
Yes, even if it takes another century or two. But most likely never, anyway.

Anyhow,as i say-think: Let go and let god xy7-relig’n xy7 take care of things! tnx

JDmysticDJ, - “Insighting hatred and fear would be very difficult in a five second clip. I think you’re overestimating the power of video. One can not be very insightful in a five second video clip.”

-

It wasn’t the five second clip that gave so many people alarm - even today TruthDig regulars are writing about he gun toting and potentially dangerous “Tea Baggers” yet never having actually witnessed one.

The five second clip, edited to show the man only from the rear and only from the waist down (to highlight the holster and handgun), was continuously looped all the while Olbermann and Robinson spoke, very passionately and specifically, about the dangerous “White”, “Conservative”, “bigoted”, gun toting “racist”,  rednecks amongst the Tea Party crowd.

Has anyone here actually seen on of these dangerous, White, Gun Toting Tea Baggers?  Even in a video clip?  I would like to see that myself.

-

CNN, no harbinger of the Right, ran a story this morning of Harry Reid and his re-election.  There was no mention of the Tea Party protests and no mention of Sarah Palin.  Yet the story was titled “Target - Harry Reid’s Re-election”

We’ll see if Robinson includes CNN on the list of loony conservative white bigots who incite fear and potential murder.

Of course my take on Robinson is that he simply doesn’t like conservative white people.  If true that makes him a racist and a bigot who has played a very direct roll of deceit (the gun toting “White Tea Bagger”) in order to bring others to fear and distrust conservative white people.

-

There is very little evidence that the bulk of Tea Party protesters are either racists or dangerous.  Just as there is very little evidence that Bush critics and protesters were dangerous racists.

This remains one of THE most idiotic and bigoted columns I have ever seen Robinson submit.

Don’t forget, Capt. Ron: Palin is playing to a racist crowd and A-Rod is clearly NOT White. (Actually, genetically, he’s probably more than half-White, but in America, that’s still “not enough” to be considered White).

So a joke about her daughter getting knocked up by a handsome millionaire superstar Latino-Black athlete is more upsetting (to Palin) than the reality that her daughter got knocked up by a White trailer-trash thug.

Comparing them to the Brownshirts of the nazi era is stupid. Also the conservatives referring to the dems as pure socalist is also dumb.Over the last 30 or so years I’ve heard the phrase lets reload and send new blood to Washington numurous times. You know as well as I do Mr.Robinson that Sarah Palin or the Tea Party are not making death threats,You’re just trying to whip the left into a frenzy to distract from that bad piece of legislation called Obamacare.

Wasn’t it Palin who tried to get David Letterman fired and run off the air for making an innuendo joke about her 18 year old daughter at a Yankee ball game getting knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez during the 7th inning stretch. Letterman was wrong in showing a picture of the 14 year old with Giuliani during the joke, but the innuendo about the 18 year old being pregnant, out of wedlock was a fact even if not by Rodriguez (Palin is very religion conscience you know). Seems she has a bad tolerance of innuendo daughter jokes, but no moral responsibility to another’s well being. Especially members of Congress particularly the Democratic side. No, she didn’t say go shoot them, but the innuendo was there, and she condones this from others. David Letterman, I believe you would have a case to attempt to throw her off television as well, PLEASE!! I feel like Palin, at least where the best way is abstinence, so Ms. Palin please abstain from orating your opinion until you are believable.

“I asked a set of questions on another thread concerning Mr. Robinson’s last bigoted diatribe regarding the Tea Party protests.  So far no one has taken the time to tackle this issue.  I’m sincerely curious if anyone on this post will address the issue.”

I’ll address the issue.

Send to:
Peaceful lawfully Assembled Gun Toting Black Man
c/o peacefully assembled loony protesters
At: Health Care Town Hall Meeting and Gun Show, Loonieville U.S.A. 8675309

“Why did MSNBC decide to repeatedly air a 5 second video clip of a gun toting “Tea Bagger” at a protest last summer or fall, however, the network went out of it’s way not to display the man’s face?”

He was in the witness protection program?

“Why did MSNBC go out of its collective way to edit out all the film that would have shown that he gun toting protester was actually a peaceful and lawfully assembled black man?”

Everyone knows the people at MSNBC are a bunch of collectivists, Duh? What do you expect?  Combining two subjects (A gun toting protester and a peaceful lawfully assembled black man, in this case) is an old collectivist editing trick, but I think that Robinson specifically said “he gun toting protester” (Indicating the gun toting protester, not the peaceful lawfully assembled black man.)

“Why, do we suppose, did Olbermann and his producers, with Eugene Robinson right there in the mix, choose not to display 5 more seconds of that clip while Olbermann and Robinson, for several months, publicly discussed the “bigoted, conservative, gun toting white people” frightening Americans?”

I don’t know what everyone else will suppose, but I would suppose Olberman and Robinson are camera hogs, who don’t want anyone else in the mix. Their producers have to go along with the demands of these self absorbed superstars, you know. Didn’t you say he was black? Why would they show a black man when they had been discussing bigoted, conservative gun toting white people for so long. A peaceful lawfully assembled black man would not be appropriate for the mix. Also, is there any proof that the peaceful lawfully assembled black man was a bigot? It’s a truth in broadcasting issue.

“Why did Robinson and Olbermann, along with MSNBC producers and film editors, willfully go out of their way to report on the gun toting conservative white “Tea Baggers” all the while knowing that the man with the holster and hand gun was, in fact, not a white individual but a man of color?”

It happens, when editing, it’s sometimes difficult to be sure what you’re looking at on the tape because of lighting problems. They were probably unsure if it was a: Gun toting conservative white Tea Bagger, a peaceful lawfully assembled black man, a white individual, a man of color, (Colors are often distorted because of lighting problems,) or a man with a holster and hand gun.

“Was this intended to insight hatred and violence toward people they simply do not like? Was it an attempt to incite people to fear the Tea Party protesters?  Was it an attempt to paint the crowd as something other than what they were?  Was it an attempt to discredit the crowd?”

Insighting hatred and fear would be very difficult in a five second clip. I think you’re overestimating the power of video. One can not be very insightful in a five second video clip. Ingmar Bergman could have done it, but these people are just broadcasters of political commentary.

It is possible to incite people to fear individuals, but it would require someone with the skills of Alfred Hitchcock or possibly a Steven King in just a five second clip.

This could be the answer you’re looking for; maybe the clip was an example of avant-garde art, used to paint these people as something other than: A gun toting Tea Bagger, a peaceful lawfully assembled black man, a man of color, a white individual, or a man with hand gun and holster.

Avant-garde art is very difficult to interpret, and I’d have to see it in order to determine if it was an attempt to discredit.

“What are the chances that each of those involved at MSNBC didn’t realize the man was actually black when they edited out his face, arms and hands from the clip?  Was it an honest and harmless mistake to report that the man carrying a gun at a protest was a dangerous, white, conservative bigoted white man with a gun?”

Clearly all those involved in the editing would know that the peaceful lawfully assembled black man was black if they were involved with editing out his face arms and hands. It would make for an interesting clip though, a sort of mix between Picasso and avant-garde.

You’ll never get them to admit to a mistake, you know how these big egos are. Perhaps the dangerous, white, conservative bigoted white man with a gun made a mistake. Maybe he had intended to go to a NRA meeting instead of a political town hall meeting. (Why did you wait so long to drop him into the mix?)

“Everyone here can research the issue and decide the intentions of those involved.”

That sounds like a fun project, should we share our theories?

I actually agree that calling Obama names is no different than calling Bush names—and I have no problem with it.  The only problem I have with Obama as the Joker is that white-face on a Black man is a coded racist image.  That it’s The Joker is by and of itself OK, even if I PERSONALLY find it repulsive.

Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that the racism,
hate and violence, especially the “killing the
messenger” pattern, did not begin when the israeli
false-zionist leadership tossed in with the Hitler
following.

Nor was the subsequent manipulation of “heil und
sieg” types into all important US Gov positions,
except the “Federal Reserve,” an accident.

Simply look at the manipulations of AIPAC and the
Netanyahu tribe. That is, currently Netanyahu.
Different name, different face, same hate, racism
and violence, while calling all who disagree
“racists”. Who is historically more accomplished at
racism, hate, and violence than this tribe? And at
mouthing, “I am doing God´s will”. How many innocent
Palestinian women and children were murdered this
week? Can´t blame the Caterpillars, which do not
drive themselves.

And where did the concept of “keeping it in the
family” originate? A tribe that was dispossessed by
its own God, murders the messenger, and is hell-bent
on hate, racism and violence, ruining the western
world while ruling it, yet aiming at the eastern
world - - .  Who wrote that Hitler´s father came
from a rabbinical background? That would explain a
lot of things.

A great deal of this “story” is being fueled by the 24/7 propaganda machine commonly known as the Media that, along with it’s corporate masters and think-tank buddies, have managed to pollute the airways with a flurry of lies and misinformation never seen in modern history.

It’s only a matter of time when the Timothy McVeighs will be in the news with cries of “I love my country but I fear my government” as their moral basis. It will only be a matter of time before lunatic fringe groups start barricading themselves with piles of guns and children and the Tea baggers and hate groups will scream about liberty and that it’s Armageddon!

Go Right Young Man:

Doesn’t it feel great when the tables have turned?!

There is a difference between what the left has done under the Bush administration and what the right has done under the Obama administration.  Under the Bush administration, anyone who disagreed with Bush regarding virtually any decision he made was branded a terrorist lover.  In fact, the people that you seem to defend blamed feminists and gay people for 9/11.  So, yeah, that is going to upset some folks.  No one likes to be called “un-patriotic” or “un-American.”  Those are among the worst of insults one could say.  People on the right called people on the left such names for several years under the Bush Administration.  You must have forgotten?

Today, it seems that it is members of the right who, under the guise of free speech and free expression, believe it is ok to threaten assassination of politicians and to not adhere to any protocol.  Currently, right-wing people conveniently love the USA Constitution, now that they are no longer in power; while they agreed with their poster boy that the USA Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper while in power.  Nice!  Oh and by the way, what would have happened if a congressman called George W. Bush a liar inside Capitol Hill while he gave a speech?  The right-wing politician who called President Obama a liar is lucky that Obama showed mercy to him!  Real lucky…

Remember Go Right Young Man, Barack Obama is the President of the United States of America whether you like it or not!  Members of the Left had to deal with George W. Bush for eight years and conservative dominant USA for several decades.  The right can’t handle it when they have been out of power for merely over a year?!  Crybaby…

Hell members of the right are even saying that our President is not even an American and calling him false names like “socialist”!  At least the names hurled at George W. Bush by members of the left were true:  He kind of did look like a chimpanzee!  He could not speak proper English worth a damn!  He did invade sovereign nations under false pretenses! THAT is the difference…

Today, members of the right are walking a fine line in claiming that the President is not a USA citizen and is not born in the USA.  Not only could this qualify as libel and/or slander, but also members of the right may be demonstrating unethical and possibly treasonous forms of discourse if THEY do not eventually cease and desist!  Remember, the right is not in power anymore and it is high time people such as yourself, Go Right Young Man, remember that!  Seriously…

Would members of the right want to the Patriot Act used against them, even though it was THEIR own invention!?  I did not think so…

We are in the early stages of our “Union” being dissolved. Hmmm, maybe not
so ‘early’ after all. The Republican’ts forment sedition and seem quite content
with that. The Democraps are too stupid to lead and there is one gaping
vacuum of a scar on the American psyche. The Bushco war criminals were
never and are never to be held to account and so it goes. Propaganda passes as
“journalism” and the wars grind on and on and on. Torture is now an American
value and so, we come apart at the seams. About one more national nervous
breakdown and America is done. The American people can’t find jobs, we lose
our homes to the “mortgage crisis”, big banks get bailouts, and ‘we the people’
get to pay for all of it. Anger has very little restraint when channeled by
demagogues. It would seem that open bloody violent civil war is our fate.
However, martial law WILL be slapped on America and that is a given. Maybe
we are destined to be witness to a military coup d’état. That also seems
inevitable. To bad the Obama couldn’t be a man of his word. We are at present,

Amazing! Absolutely Amazing!  This level of violence we have seen is aimed at duly elected officials of the United States Government - not political parties or corporations - people, real people, with real families.  I have read the list of violence committed by radical left-wingers listed here by one poster, and they are as abhorrent as what we are seeing now, but nowhere have I seen so much directed hate at specific individuals being condoned by a single party, either directly or indirectly.  Nowhere in that list did I see mention of a single Democrat protesting Bush or Cheney while wearing a gun.  Nowhere in that list did I see a single Democrat attacking police, except in self-defense.  Nowhere is it proven that those who went after AIG employees were solely Democrats - many were in fact Tea Partiers who had lost their savings, their jobs, and their homes.

This country is on the edge of exploding and as long as one side of this argument - which was conspicuously silent while Bush and Cheney ran this country into bankruptcy and war - have now decided to act like vigilantes based on lies and filth spewed by FOx News, we are all in trouble, because the rest of us are angry too and we have stood by for 8 years watching as this country was driven into the ground under the boot heels of the GOP and their leadership.  Yes, Democrats are going to fight back now - what exactly did the GOP think was going to happen?  Do we want to? No, but we also do not want another 8 years of GOP insanity because unlike many on the right, we can see where this is heading and it will be fatal to this nation.

This entire cycle of violence has been generated by one source - FOX News and their daily cycle of hate and bigotry and conspiracy theories.  This is irresponsible and is far beyond the exercise of free speech because these people know the power of words and they are using them like weapons to target the American way of life.  It is one thing for the GOP to all the media left-wing, something I have always contended was not completely accurate, but now we have a media organization that is so far to the right that they have become news makers, not news reporters, and they are an entertainment outlet masquerading as news. Go to my blog http://blogs.alternet.org/issuesandrants/is-a-new-freedom-movement-possible?-yes-it-is-if-we-try! and read my suggestions on what we can do stop this hate machine from further crippling this nation.

Free speech is a right I cherish, but it is at risk of being co-opted by those who hide behind to spew hate and bigotry across this nation like a poison gas. It must be stopped and we have the power to stop it if we try.

various pro-life and tea-party organizations and individuals who are
considered a threat to domestic security, continuity of government operations,
and to the lives of lawmakers and their families.

”While published reports confirm that Capitol Police have been contacted and
are addressing security concerns of lawmakers and the incidents of vandalism,
the involvement of federal agencies has not been publicly disclosed, nor will it
likely be on any official level. The reason, according to this source, is that high-
level discussions between top lawmakers and agency heads are “exploring the
application of the Patriot Act against any right-wing individual or group that
poses a danger to government operations.”

He added that “threat assessments and security measures for public assemblies
at the Capitol, specifically focusing on conservative groups are being re-
evaluated at the request of the White House and Democratic lawmakers.

”Dissemination of the list is obviously limited to avoid another “MIAC” episode,
referring to the release of a document leaked from the Missouri Information
Analysis Center (MIAC).””

See thinkprogress.org.  Their top story this morning is about a guy going out of his mind at the sight of an Obama bumper sticker in Nashville.  He rammed into the back end of the car which had the sticker on it and continued pushing the car uphill and off the road before fleeing.  A man and his school age daughter were in the vehicle.  The guy was apprehended and charged with reckless endangerment.  Yes people are going to get hurt if something isn’t done about it.  Tea baggers are like the people in the anti-abortion movement who think it is their duty to kill doctors who perform abortions.

In a country that hadn’t gone a day w.o. a war for over 200 yrs, one wld expect at least some people to behave as teabaggers behave.

First there were buffalonian indians to take care of. Then it was indians of c. and s.america to subdue and now there are new indians in afrika and asia to either kill off or to enserf them.

So, what’s up ab the furor of a few mns of americans in comparison to nuking japan, slavery, iraq, afgh’n?
Just a storm in a teapot?!

If we wld raise a storm ab US wars and more of its coming wars, it wld make much more sense. Meanwhile, let’s laugh at teabaggers?

Of course, one can always expect a MSM collumnists to talk solely ab warts and a tiny ones, too, rather that the causes of those symptoms.

Now, it is thsee teabaggers i don’t laugh at or with!  tnx

Mr. Robinson,

Let us not forget the Tea Party protesters who were beaten with baseball bats by SEIU members during last summer’s Protests.

Let us also not forget that one of those peaceful protesters had the tip of his finger bitten off by a purple shirted SEIU member.
