Though it was toss up, whether to comment on 1. Noam
Chomsky’s assertion(Chomsky 10 Yrears After 9?11),
“That Washington was bent on fulfilling bin Laden’s
fervent wishes…”, relative to what is now well
known to have been the republican’s intentions to
use 9/11 attacks to launch a world wide political and
economic plan that would allow them to remain in
power indefinitely,,, In Noam Chomsky’s case, why
can’t enlightenment, unwavering sincerity and genuine
concern for the common person’s welfare be
recalcitrant? Or on the 2. “reverse remembrances”,
listed in Robert Scheer’s piece (How Little We Know
About the Origins of 9/11),  relative to how the
misrepresentation of the 9/11 attacks had demolished
our culture and other innocents,, “nations were
invaded, trillions of dollars were wasted, hundreds
of thousands of civilian and military lives were
lost, torture became acceptable and the public has
come to tolerate a daily governmental assault on
privacy as normal”. Or 3. comment on the by piece
Stanley Kutler(How Not to Commemorate 9/11), “We
fashionably compress our commemorations of 9/11
events into a neat triangle to include the
Afghanistan and Iraq wars. But in accepting this, we
terribly distort our history, for any link between
9/11, the present Afghanistan War and the Iraq War is
patently false”..

I suppose I get frozen in the middle of the 3, on one
side (1)Chomsky was able to come out of the gate with
the correct answer,, that the republicans and/or
right wing would use the 9/11 attacks as an
opportunity to implement, on a grand scale, their
designs for our culture and the world,,,, to bankrupt
generations of any conventional means of resistance
to a right wing republican, prolonged and
unchallenged reign.  On the other side, (2)great all
the journalistic effort by Scheer, after the fact, 
to constantly remind us of the lies and distortions
the republicans have used to secure power, by
manipulating politics and economic policy. And yet on
another side(3), in so many words, the description of
the “simulacrum” by Stanley,,, a copy that does not
represent the reality of the original or the truth,
and this copy is intentionally distorted to make the
viewer or understander believe it is the original.
Once action is taken in the name of a “simulacrum”,
and later entered into the history books, it does not
matter anymore that it was just some made up
reason/event, a copy that had no original basis,
because from there on out future action will be
considered in its’ name.

I suppose what I am saying is, are we going to be
satisfied with the good, compelling and inescapable
reasons to have a revolution or are we going to be
satisfied with actually having one. I suppose Noam
Chomsky’s response to MR Fish, a while back,
“Covering conventions isn’t dissident journalism.
That’s playing a role in creating illusions about how
the political system functions”,, is expressing my
view that knowing how grotesque our leaders have
behaved to the detriment of their own society, and
humanity in general really does not seem to matter
anymore.  We went way past the Watergate threshold,
“that the truth will set us free, and put others in
prison, on the run or in the least ousted”. 

People, the republicans have bankrupted, by design,
all the conventional means to resist their madness,
and left the Democrats spineless.  But you know, from
what I have read, a revolution against this level of
societal repression, this depth of human deprivation,
this extreme absence of cultural cohesiveness, well, 
such a revolution to remedy these ills cannot be
enacted conventionally, since that would imply the
bad guys would see it coming, understand it, even
agree with it, because convention always speaks the
language of the oppressors. 

The republicans got us all, “playing a role in
creating illusions about how our society functions”,
At this level political and economic impropriety we
should all be dissidents,, not democrats, not
liberals, not progressives, those are the roles the
republicans are having us play.

So then these days, what is appropriate to consider
is that, “The simulacrum is never what hides the
truth—it is the truth that hides the fact that
there is none. The simulacrum is true.”

Just because there is no objective reality, does not
mean we need to subject ourselves to this grand
republican and/or right wing simulacrum, a reality
made up with false premises and lies. We have allowed
the simulacrum of a bankrupt, fearful and under siege
culture to become all too true.

I offer two document to back up his claim.  In these two documents(fatwas), Bin Laden states his reasons for attacking the U.S.  As I understand the Muslim tradition, before attacking an enemy you are required to notify them as to their transgressions and allow them correct their ways.  These documents were published years before the 2001 attacks.

They told us that bin Laden moved around all the time, didn’t stay in one area very long.  They told us they knew where he was.  Then for days they told the Taliban to turn him over, before finally invading Afghanistan. 

To me, that doesn’t sound like a scenario where they actually wanted to catch him.

While this Op-Ed speaks the truth, it only speaks to information that has been obtained from “captured al-Qaida members” held and tortured at Guantanamo Bay. It does not address the lack of a proper crime scene investigation, the rapid removal of physical evidence from the rubble at the site of the twin towers and WTC-7, the lack of independent sworn testimony of Bush and Cheney, the restrictive ground rules that prevented a proper investigation of the crimes, the immediate promulgation of an asserted true narrative of the events of 9-11 without any vetting of the story,  the physical evidence that could not be made to disappear that all points to controlled demolition of WTC 1, 2, and 7.

When you consider all this, the testimony of people held and tortured at Guantanamo is really small potatoes.

Reading these conspiracy comments is making my eyes
hurt.  What we need is a televised trial of people
involved with planning 9/11.  If we can televise
O. J. Simpson day after day we can surely televise
trials of people who planned 9/11.  If the government doesn’t kill them first.

Let’s go back to the actual content of the story for a moment:  Fact is, the coverup is continuing, even under a Democratic administration and Congress that campaigned on “Change!”

Why would that be?  Normal politics would say you try to trash the other party.  If any of us are right, the truth about 9/11 would knock the Republicans out of American politics for a long time, and maybe get some of them lynched. At the least, it has to be really embarrassing for the Bushies.  The Dems could do that with their halos on tight:  “We’re just releasing the TRUTH.”  Why wouldn’t they do that?

There’s really only one possible answer, which also explains Obama’s refusal to prosecute even their most obvious criminality:  they’re in it together.  Not so much the actual 9/11 attack, regardless of the details, but the 2-party system itself.  They prop each other up, because without their pretense at competition, new players would enter the political stage with a wide-open opportunity.  And, of course, most fundamentally, they’re both working for the same funders.  The only real competition is for the booty.

At the moment, a solid majority of Americans would like to clean house completely, including their own “representatives”, and Obama’s poll numbers are dropping into “unelectable” territory.  Polls also show a solid majority ready to support a “third” party (in reality, there are and will be quite a few).

We have a rare opportunity to shed the 2-Party straitjacket.  Now all we need is some serious guts.

FBI probe into Sarasota home’s link to 9/11 hijackers wasn’t reported to Congress, commission

MIAMI — Just two weeks before the 9/11 hijackers slammed into the Pentagon and World Trade Center, members of a Saudi family abruptly vacated their luxury home near Sarasota, Fla., leaving a brand new car in the driveway, a refrigerator full of food, fruit on the counter — and an open safe in a master bedroom.

In the weeks to follow, law enforcement agents not only discovered the home was visited by vehicles used by the hijackers, but also phone calls were linked between the home and those who carried out the death flights — including leader Mohamed Atta — in discoveries never before revealed to the public.

Ten years after the deadliest attack of terrorism on U.S. soil, new information has emerged that shows the FBI found troubling ties between the hijackers and residents in the upscale community in southwest Florida, but the investigation wasn’t reported to Congress or mentioned in the 9/11 Commission Report.

Former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, the Florida Democrat who co-chaired the congressional Joint Inquiry into the attacks, said he should have been told about the findings, saying it “opens the door to a new chapter of investigation as to the depth of the Saudi role in 9/11. ... No information relative to the named people in Sarasota was disclosed.”

The U.S. Justice Department, the lead agency that investigated the attacks, refused to comment, saying it will discuss only information already released.

The Saudi residents then living at the stylish home, Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii and his wife, Anoud, could not be reached, nor could the then-owner of the house, Esam Ghazzawi, who is Anoud’s father. The house was sold in 2003, records show.

For Graham, the connections between the hijackers and residents raise questions about whether other Saudi nationals in Florida knew of the impending attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people…....”

Another thought…rarely brought up:  If, as we were told, this was the extraordinarily well thought out plan that could get through NORAD surveillance and the great defense system in place that day…. If that were true, wouldn’t it stand to reason that these ‘terrorists’ would want to inflict the greatest number of casualties possible?

So, all they had to do was plan the attacks to hit the towers fifteen minutes later than they did. As it turned out, MOST people had not yet entered the buildings, which would have housed more than 60,000 employees.  The planes hit fifteen minutes before the work day - thereby reducing the casualties to a minimum of less than 3,000 - including the hundreds of first responders who remained in the buildings because their radios failed.

I agree.  The government of the U.S. refused to allow the 9/11 commission members access to critical information and, as such, the report itself tells us nothing of value.

Unfortunately much of the debate over the “truth” about 9/11 has deteriorated into a brawl between engineers some of whom claim that “obviously” explosives were placed in the WTC buildings in advance of the plane crashes, and others who denounce those claims. 

But whether there were explosives is irrelevant to the bigger questions.  For example, why didn’t our government do anything to protect the citizens of NYC after the first plane crash?  Going back before that, why were CIA agents (reportedly) told to back off the al Queda network, and why were al Queda-allied agents allowed free run inside this country.  Why was the August of 2001 memo to Bush simply ignored by intelligence departments?  Why were the Saudis flown out of the country so quickly. 

With all the laws controlling bank deposits (supposedly aimed at drug dealers) is it really plausible that a bank teller would “notice” that Elliot Spitzer took out extra spending money every week, triggering a massive FBI/Wall Street joint task force to take him down, yet not one person noticed all the money being transferred from Saudi Arabia into this country to finance these operations?  Gimmeabreak. 

Here is the truth.  When the people implicated in possible crimes are the same charged with investigation and enforcement of the laws, it means you need an independent prosecutor, and independent citizens’ grand jury set up with subpoena power to call and interrogate anyone they deem fit to determine whether charges should be brought, and what those charges should be.  We need that for not just 9/11, but also for all the financial fraud and corruption in connection with these wars, and in connection with Wall Street’s fraudulent theft and deceit which has crashed not only our economy, but that of much of the world.

As long as the two parties control the “investigation,” we will continue to receive dishonest whitewashed half-truths.  What happens when the people no longer believe the government?  It fails, and usually what comes after that is a period of anarchy and suffering.  Yet both parties continue to insist that there is nothing to see here, move along.

You guys who are all twisted up about discovering the truth about 9/11 ... ain’t goina happen. Know why? You’ve accused both the Democratic party (Clinton) and the Republican party (Bush/Cheney) of complicity in the conspiracy. You’ve also implicated the military. So, let me ask a simple question: who’s going to actually commission an investigation into all your “facts”? Please, take your time. It won’t be anyone in the US government. According to you, everyone is guilty of something. It won’t be any foreign countries ... they want to maintain friendly relations with the US government. So, again, who’s going to do this investigation? The FBI? CIA? NSA? Homeland Security? They’re all guilty according to your theory. Hows about an independent, blue ribbon, bipartisan commission? Oops, they are all guilty too. You’re wasting you time. Just as we’re still waiting for another investigation into the JFK shooting, you’ll all be dead long before anyone looks at this again. Sorry ...

My thought is that the “official ” version of what happened is the biggest conspiracy at all. The Commission was a joke, a whitewash.

There are lots of bones to pick with the cover story but for Condy Rice and others to say they had no idea this was about to happen is preposterous and a pure lie. That others, including the British and Mossad, had warned us in pretty specific detail can’t be in dispute.

Then there are the strange changes, just months before, barring pilots from carrying firearms and changing the US policy in responding to planes off course.

In the end the Bush presidency was on life support before this “New Pearl Harbor”....do the math.

When deadly events such as 9/11 happen, there’s always the myriad of conspiracy theories and obcession over “what REALLY happened.” For the most part this tendency to fixate on conspiracies has little value. JFK’s murder is still being debated to this day…and what difference has it made? It certainly has made a lot of money as a cottage industry but no “truth” has been uncovered and I’m not sure any conspiracy has been either.

So, let’s turn to 9/11: For me it’s simple. I heard it stated by another commentator on a similar story. Here’s the “truth” about 9/11:

The answer to this question lies in the redacted portion of the 9-11 committee report.  There is ample evidence to indicate that this portion of the report describes how individuals in the Saudi family supported the 9-11 terrorists.  The Saudi family is quite large, but not all are involved in the government——it is this segment of the Saudi family that is supportive of Jihad and helped to finance and support the 9-11 terrorists while in the USA.  Why was this redacted——because oil is thicker than blood!

911 was a Big Event. Probably engineered by the same interests that funded The Big Event of the Kennedy assasination.

When Nixon resigned he did so not because of the Watergate break in, but to stop any further investigation into what the break in was meant to conceal. That was information linking Nixon to Operation 40, and the Kennedy assassination.

Those same intersts continue their control over our government now. They used 911 for their own evil ends. They could care less about what happens to the people of this country.

The Truth will come out eventually, probably not in this country but elsewhere.

Exactly ten years after 9/11 the disguised global corporate/financial/militarist Empire that has taken over our former country by hiding behind the facade of its bought and owned TWO-Party modernized ‘Vichy’ sham of faux-democratic government has so far dodged its Stalingrad downfall, and continues to be successful in fooling all the people all the time, expanding its Empire with the “Pentagon’s New Map”, and is only likely to collapse when its PR lie of “Globalization” is recognized for what it really is—- ‘global Empire’.

There remains no substantial recognition that our former country (and others like U.K. Israel et al) has been captured by a disguised global corporate/financial/militarist EMPIRE, which hides behind the facade of its TWO-Party modernized “Vichy” sham of faux-democratic government——just as the occupying Nazi Empire hid behind its far cruder single-party “Vichy” regime.

‘Globalization’ is simply the branded and polite marketing term for global EMPIRE!

This disguised global empire is the causal cancerous tumor that creates all ‘symptom problems’ like wars, economic oppression, massive inequality, environmental destruction, and all other ‘issues’ that are used to divide and distract resistance from attacking the core of the Empire.

“Nobody does it better”——lying about the Empire——certainly not the Nazis, nor the Soviets:

Obama’s speech immediately reminded me of the old James Bond “Spy Who Loved Me” song, “Nobody Does It Better” — in that nobody does disguised global Empire better than the US and its new “Open Globalization” pitch-man.

Yes, Obama is a wonderful spokesman (better than even Ronald Reagan or Thomas Friedman) in promoting the appearance of a promising “Globalization” and looking forward to democracy for all, while glossing over the fact that the forced march to globalization by force of arms is essentially just a cover for the reality of “global Empire”.

The PR skills of the corporatist media and Obama are the only combination that can promise the advertising illusion of such ‘hope for change’ under the implied mantel of “democracy” and free market economic “Globalization”, and yet deliver the reality of deceptive, disguised, dysfunctional, and unsustainable “Global Empire” — Nobody does it better.

As Nobel economist George Akerlof more presciently diagnosed as far back as 2001, “This is not normal government economic policy, but a form of LOOTING”.

Who will tell Americans the truth; that 9/11 was a perfectly orchestrated event to divert the growing attention on ‘American Empire’, to engender patriotic sympathy with American victim-hood, and to thus cover-up the real 21st century post-nation-state global corporate/financial/militarist Empire which has taken over our former country by hiding behind the facade of its modernized TWO-Party ‘Vichy’ sham of faux democratic government—- similarly to the patriotic sympathy engendered by the Reichstag fire and the subsequent ploy of installing a crude single-party ‘Vichy’ government in Europe to cover-up the spread of the global strategy of the fascist/corporatist Nazi Empire.

Heavyrunner asks all the questions that need to be asked.  In this column Mr. Sheer tiptoes around these questions, coming close but never quite crossing that line that separates truth from fiction.  About the only thing that might add to Heavyrunner’s comment is that to believe the Cheney/Bush junta’s explanation of 9/11 requires rejection of the laws of physics.  Exposing the truth of the events of 9/11 will be a huge step in righting the ship of America driven so far off course by the “day that changed everything”.

We—most of us—know about the manufacturing of consent. Since 9/11/01
something very similar, if not simply the same phenom, to manufacturing consent has been going on; namely,
the manufacturing of myth. Annual commemorations of 9/11 have been and
will continue to be reinforcement of but one myth among many others; i.e., bi-
annual elections enshrouded in yet another myth: the one of freedom here but not there (anywhere else).

America is the greatest nation, place, people, whatever, in all of history—end of story, no ifs, no ands, no buts. Everyone knows it and so it never need be questioned. (Those who don’t know it or deny it must hate America—according to “patriots,” aka, swallowers of myth hook, line and sinker. And for the noun, “America,” one could insert, “free-market,” itself already a myth.)

The greatest myth—that of the greatest “democracy” in the history of the
universe—is maintained by reinforcement of sub-myths, if you will. Of which, 911 has become but one more.

But we hardly know the causes of whos and whys in elections either—
gerrymandering or the electoral college or secretary-of-state racketeering or
back-room wheeling and dealing or private-sector pay-offs, all sorts of
corruption that is never allowed to surface—hardly anyone is ever so much as
detained, let alone arrested, in countless cases of election fraud. (Or banking
fraud or any other kind of corporate crime, Enron one very rare exception,
though the full story has yet to be revealed.)

Might just as well be conspiracy, certainly one of silence. Which is why
Wikileaks both panics and enrages power. Wikileaks, unlike anything before it,
exposes myth for the patent fraud it is.

Obama’s become part and parcel of myth too, as are desperadoes running for his job
and for several hundred other such jobs. “Winners” of elections don’t so much
get themselves elected to offices as the offices choose them, depending in part on their reliability
to assist in maintenance of myth. Candidates who get elected or appointed disappear into the offices they assume, seldom to be
heard from ever again as the individuals they were before being chosen. Myth consumes them like AIPAC consumes them. (Actually, they were consumed by myth prior even to being allowed to run for office.)

The official story of 9/11 has become myth (or propaganda) and so cannot be
tampered with no matter the stack of laws—national and international—broken and the actions taken before
and after the event by a host of participants from the U.S. to S.A. to Pakistan and Afghanistan and probably 10 other countries.

Look at the places hit and supposedly to be hit
during the attack. (1) Twin towers, (2) Pentagon,
and the plane crashed in Pennsylvania was alleged
to be headed for our nation’s Capitol.  The attackers seemed to know something about big business(Twin Towers), American military(Pentagon) and
our American government(Capitol).  What did they
know or presume to know?  Since Osama Bin Laden
was killed instead of captured we’ll never hear directly from his mouth. Living in a supposed
democracy our citizens have the RIGHT to hear testimony in an open trial which would help us to understand the perceptions of the perpetrators of
9/11.  If our national media can cover daily the
trial of O.J. Simpson they surely can cover the
trial of the perpetrators of 9/11.

The “dangers” our society faces are entirely home-
grown.  9/11 was an inside job, a US military false-
flag operation under cover of 15+ US military
exercises and US drills occurring that day.  A
complicit media, a cowardly press, a spineless and
morally bereft president, a lawless government… all
have contributed to strenuously avoiding asking the
correct questions, including those posed by
HeavyRunner, among many others.  Ample evidence
exists that the official conspiracy theory is a pack
of lies, which even the so-called progressive
columnists (Scheer included) eagerly accept,
demonstrating a profound lack of intellectual
integrity and a stunning willingness to put doctrinal
myth before honest inquiry and rational thought. 
These are the times of universal deceit that Orwell
spoke of.  We live in a perpetual 1984.

This is a good piece. Everything is behind closed doors and we never will know; we are left to assume the worst. The Saudis are allies and their oil flows to us so we won’t criticize them. Israel is untouchable. But Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan? Take it. It would seem the actual history and policy is unfit for the public eye; thus it must remain hidden. Writing history as they say - minus the ugly stuff of course.

There is a lot more that we don’t know. What or who caused the U.S. air defense to fail that day? How did asymmetrical airplane impacts cause buildings to collapse symmetrically into their own footprints? How could the FBI have lists of the hijackers’ names within 48 hours of the events of 9/11 when none of their names appeared on the passenger lists? How can it be that several of those people named were actually still alive? Why did Building 7 collapse into its own footprint at free fall speed despite not having been hit by a plane at all? Why was the steel from the wreckage found to be in pieces cut to convenient lengths for hauling away? Why was the steel, which obviously was important evidence at a crime scene, trucked under heavy security to waiting barges which took it to China to be melted down before it could be examined? What caused the micro spheres of iron found in the dust from the buildings? What caused the molten steel that was found in the wreckage? Jet fuel cannot burn hot enough to melt steel so where did the molten steel come from? Why was thermate, an incendiary used in controlled demolition, found in the dust? Why were there no wing marks on the wall of the Pentagon? Why did the FBI confiscate the surveillance video from businesses near the Pentagon which likely show the impact of whatever hit the Pentagon and never released? How did amateur pilots fly huge commercial jets at high speed into buildings with expert accuracy which numerous professional pilots say is impossible? Many witnesses, including first responders, reported hearing and feeling bombs and explosions. Why have those reports not been fully examined? And, as Scheer points out, why has no one been brought to justice in a court of law for the crimes? Why was no one in the military who was responsible for our air defenses that day been punished or demoted? Why was the Bin Laden family flown out of the country when the rest of U.S. aviation was on lock down? Who were the Massad agents who were arrested in New Jersey and then later released without charge who were seen celebrating outside their van as they watched the Twin Towers come down from across the Hudson? Why was Bin Laden summarily executed instead of being brought to trial?

Yes there are many important questions about the events of that day that remain unanswered ten years later.

Bin Laden made it plain that his objective was the ousting of American military from Arab nations, primarily Saudi Arabia. Considering the callousness and indifference with which we the people of the USA refuse to come to grips with our empire building and looting of natural resources, primarily but not limited to, oil, the motivation of these guys seems obvious enough.
