Hedges Will Return Next WeekPosted on Jul 25, 2010Chris Hedges’ column, which normally would appear in this space, will return next week. He is finishing work on a book. Advertisement New and Improved CommentsWe are launching a major overhaul of our comments section. In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread. Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts. Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with. Gebibis on a Cheese sandwich (thank you Nemisis)
Cursing through TD, I saw this and realized I did not even know Chris Hedges was gone? It is sort of like Hedges has been replaced by a guy named Bob!
I was gone last week and nobody gave a shit!

That the latest Oval Office occupant is also (like his predecessor, and his, and his, and his) just going through the motions of going-through-the-motions, is getting more difficult to deny everyday, even for such recently-enthralled disciples as Mr. Robinson here. Yet no one among them seems eager to “dig” into the “truth” of exactly why that’s true.
Could it be that the die is cast, it’s come-up “craps,” and there’s not a damned thing anybody, even the supposedly “most-powerful-man-in-the-world,” can do about it? So he hits his marks and speaks his lines on-cue (just as they’ve all been doing all-along), because even with the “Global” theater burning-down around the empire, “the bloody show” must go on.
“....first as tragedy, then as farce.”

He has no “thing” about atheism, but about fundamentalism.

Great to see Chris is going to give us another gem soon!
I hope he touches on a lot of the topics he’s been covering here like the Greek riots and global warming.
