Former Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz in 2005.

By Robert Scheer

At least they can’t blame Paul Wolfowitz on the Jews anymore.  That’s the good news in the scandal; his lover and neocon political soul mate, Shaha Ali Riza, the World Bank official who received a lucrative transfer to the State Department at Wolfowitz’s direction, is an Arab Muslim.  She is one in a group of Arab exiles, the most prominent being Ahmed Chalabi, who clearly had as much of a role as the oft-mentioned Israel lobby in driving the U.S. to war.  Throw in the Christian right’s fierce support for the invasion and responsibility for this debacle is now proved to be quite ecumenical.

The bad news is that the decadent cronyism and malignant imperial stance of the Bush administration have been extended to one of the world’s leading international institutions, where Wolfowitz may hang on as president because of Bush’s continued strong support.

The Riza-Wolfowitz affair was an open secret in Washington for years, even before the couple became officially involved in the run-up to the Iraq war, during which she seems to have played a major role in influencing former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s top deputy. Back in the spring of 2003, a division of the Defense Department headed by Wolfowitz’s neocon crony Douglas Feith ordered defense contractor SAIC to pay Riza to figure out how Iraq should be governed after the invasion.  When Wolfowitz followed her to the bank two years later, there was an obvious conflict of interest. So Wolfowitz got his lover reassigned, with a $60,000 pay increase, to the State Department.

As opposed to the scores of allegedly gay Arabic-speaking translators forced out of public service because of the threat that their private life might be used to blackmail them, Wolfowitz was an acceptable heterosexual philanderer. It is not clear whether the Bush administration’s security checks defined the lovers appointed to high position as adulterers or merely unmarried fornicators for there is no available evidence as to Wolfowitz’s marital status.  We do know that Wolfowitz and his wife of more than 30 years separated abruptly amid rumors of his extramarital affairs, just prior to his being appointed to the second-highest position in the Pentagon.  Surely this marital instability, a potential security risk, would have shown up in his background check.

The unanswered question in all this is:  Has anyone told the president? As recently as last week, a White House spokesperson reiterated Bush’s “full confidence” in the troubled bureaucrat, stating that the president believes Wolfowitz “has done a very good job at the World Bank.” Maybe compared to the Iraq debacle, but not in the eyes of World Bank staffers, who depicted a leadership in distress even before the current scandal blew up.  Indeed, the long-rumored disarray in Wolfowitz’s personal life seems to have surfaced only recently, with the news of an exorbitant bonus for his lover, precisely because there is so much dissatisfaction at the bank.  The call for Wolfowitz’s dismissal has been raised most forcefully by the bank’s officially recognized staff association.

Hypocrisy seems to be the staff’s main charge against Wolfowitz, who arrived two years ago blasting the institution’s coddling of “corruption” and demanding a cut in aid funds to nations, such as Kenya, that didn’t meet his high standards. Meanwhile, he was playing loose with the bank’s rules and the truth.  As the ever arrogant Wolfowitz said in a speech to the bank’s staff 14 months before his own corruption scandal broke: “There has to be a lot of teething problems to go from a world where for 50 years the word corruption wasn’t uttered in this institution to actually doing something about it.”

At the core of the current complaint is a charge that has followed Wolfowitz since his days at the Pentagon—that he distorts the evidence to suit his whims.  In this case, he first claimed that he had nothing to do with feathering his lover’s nest over at the State Department, insisting that the deal was worked out with the approval of the World Bank’s ethics committee and directors.  But he now concedes that is false.

Documents released by the bank show that Wolfowitz personally negotiated the gift to his lover of a tax-free salary of $193,590, including a whopping $60,000 raise, making her more highly paid after taxes than her boss, Condoleezza Rice, before taxes. Still, that’s peanuts compared with the well more than $400,000 that Wolfowitz earns at the World Bank.  Not too shabby for a guy who succeeds by failing, to the woe of U.S. taxpayers, not to mention dead U.S. soldiers and many more Iraqis.

Mr.Wolfowitz (ex deputy secretary of defense) does not represent America. Everything he does is in the interests of “Israel”.
HE was the architect of the Iraq war (representing the interests of the “American Israel political action committee”.
America is now fighting a war to defend Israel.
Israel also gets millions of dollars per year in US aide .
Through the auspices of the AMERICAN ISRAEL POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE. they also lobbied to elect George W Bush.
(the results of big money changing hands) (therefore Iraq)

**** good recommendation: http://911review.com - there is loads of disinformation around 911 that needs dissembling - that’s the goal of 911review - psy-ops are very complex. For example, serious researchers make clear that as much goes into creating “legends” for the “patsies” as into “plans” for the “professionals.” Likewise for the “moles” and the “cover up” — all essential to the operation. e.g. the numerous Oswlads, showing up around the world and attracting attention in various ways; not unlike Atta. As for the “moles,” just look at all the warnings and investigations prior to 911 that we’re told were simply cocked up or mysetriously dropped — incompetence in dealing with blowback is the “limited hangout.”

Probably the most pronounced disinfo agent was Ward Churchill, who broke across the MSM shortly after 911, denouncing anyone trying to expose the 19 patsies, accusing them of racism for not accepting that Arabs could really do it and then calling the victims in the towers “little Eichmans.” Now there’s something to dissemble. Look into Ward Churchill’s background with the SDS. He even wrote books on Cointelpro, more “limited hangouts.”

What’s really going on with the Global War of Terror is a virtual copy of Gladio and the Strategy of Tension designed to discredit the entire Left in Western Europe at the height of the Cold War...and reinforce the myth of Monolithic Communism, now replaced by Islamofascism. Gladio was fully exposed in Italian Parliament hearings (ca. 1990) as a NATO-directed black-ops/psy-ops program. At the time we saw the Red Brigade credited for terrorism all over the world, just as we now see Al Queda, a well-documented CIA asset.

For those who find study of this stuff to be too spooky and “insignificant” as Noam Chomsky as chosen to dismiss it, please consider the effects. Black-ops/psy-ops and other forms of false flag terrorism serve to distort geopolitics so severely, genuinely informed decisions become impossible. This cynically lethal tool must be exposed and destroyed.

You have to register first, Hugh, if you want these things. I find “the order of comments” quite accepable but it could have a reverse button function as that would help.

Certainly, trying to drag one’s way through 100’s of comments on some of the more popular topics is almost impossible - they should be stacked in pages as well and so that one could simply click on the numbers. This is possible.

What is just as bad is that there doesn’t seem to be a way of going back over one’s individual posts (the relevant function under “articles” doesn’t work). It should be possible for everyone to review each others’ comments on all subjects. This can be done, too.

Apart from that, it is not necessary to receive an email for each posting in the same topic. It is possible to receive only one and then no more until you return to the topic. Whether all of these things can be done with TruthDig’s blog software is another matter, though.

It is possible to assume that he was expressing sorrow for something other than his World Bank caper but if so he didn’t say - besides which his apology followed right on the revelation in question.

Nobody cared about Wolfie’s girlfriend until he used his influence to get her a huge amount of money from the public purse.  Despite the millions spent sniffing Clinton’s shorts, no public funds were alleged to have been diverted to Monica.

And to the degree that there is comment on the adultery aspect at this point, Wolfowitz may or may not want to disavow his association with those who were so obsessed by the 42nd Presidential Member.  I’m waiting....

I viewed the video you recommended and found it interesting but inconclusive.  Next, I surfed the Internet for other websites with information about aircraft wreckage found at the Pentagon.

The following link might make your rethink the conspiracy theory.

********* the Fall 2006 NY Times/CBS poll showed the unqualified belief in the “official” conspiracy theory to be below 20% with about 50% convinced of government complicity — as for a conspiracy of thousands, not necessarily so; especially if the operation is being run through military drills, of which there were roughly 15 up and running 09/11/01; not the least of which was one simulating the crashing of hi-jacked airliners into buildings.

Again, if you’ve any serious interest in 911 truth, the recommended source is Webster G. Tarpley, arguably the world’s most thoroughly researched, published specialist on state-sponsored, false flag, terror. Tarpley’s investigation, commissioned by a member of the Italian Parliament, led to the broad Parliamentary hearings, exposing Gladio in the early 90s, in the wake of his book “Who Killed Aldo Maro.” The Gladio Strategy of Tension model is clearly what’s in play with paired myths of Global War of Terror and Islamofascism.

So, Mr. Hugh E. Scott, if it’s your perceived journalistic integrity that’s holding you back, it’s probably just as well you let those with less fragile careers do the initial heavy lifting (much of which has already been done) then swing onto the trolley after it’s safely under way. But, it sounds like you want your work to count for something, in which case I would remind you of this: no charges of mendacity, fraud, violations of international conventions on the prosecution of war or even war crimes has measurably slowed the juggernaught that is this regime of Nietzschien madmen. The lynchpin is the 911 myth. It must be exploded.

To Douglas Chalmers,

As for 9/11 being an inside job, that is a complicated and extremely controversial issue with many false assumptions flying around the Internet.  Here is one example.

Having been a Delta Air Lines B737-300 simulator instructor after retiring early from Continental where I was a B727 line captain, I can assure you that it is quite easy to train novice Piper Cub pilots to operate a twin-engine jetliner after it has taken off and is in cruising flight.

Also, by using a portable PC and Microsoft Flight Simulator for the B757, those same beginners can become experts at flying into fixed ground objects such as the Twin Tower buildings, which I did numerous times with my own laptop as a test.

The only real mystery to me about 9/11 is how the NYC buildings came down, particularly #7.  I have watched the video many times and still don’t understand how a controlled explosion could NOT have been involved.  At the same time, I am a serious investigative journalist obsessed with protecting my reputation.  So before starting my forthcoming Bushwhacking book, “LIAR-in-CHIEF,” I made a conscious decision to sidestep 9/11 conspiracy theories, even though they fascinate me, and focus instead on Bush’s immoral, dishonest and corrupt character

Also, while 70 million people believe (and perhaps rightly so) that 9/11 was an inside job, 200 million Americans don’t feel that way, which is an audience too large to ignore or alienate.

One more thing.  If there was a 9/11 cospiracy, it would’ve involved hundreds, if not thousands of American traitors --from ATC controllers and USAF pilots to NYC building inspectors.  Treason aside, you’d think one of “conspirators” would have sold their story to the National Inquirer by now for a million bucks.  Unless, or course, the Inquirer was part of the conspiracy, too.

I applied the same logic to my investigative website King-George.biz—the only one with hardcopy proof of White House corruption.

Cheers, Hugh E. Scott

I actually believe ONE thing bush has said -
the American education system needs work; comprehension skills seem to have been overlooked for years.  Nothing to blame but our own procrastination, ignorance, self-absorbtion and disinterest.  The nazi professor was right when he said “suddenly - you see what you have become, what you did and didn’t do.  too late, you are compromised beyond repair”.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men, their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism, and religious dogmas.”
-- Brock Chisolm, UN Director: World Health Organization
The most powerful clique in these elitist groups have one objective in common-- they want to bring about the surrender of the sovereignty of national independence of the United States. A second clique of international members of the CFR comprises the Wall Street international bankers and their key agents. Primarily, they want the world banking monopoly from whatever power that ends up in control of global government.”
-- Rear Admiral Chester Ward, former CFR member 16 years
The age of nations must end. The government of nations have decided to order their separate sovereignties into one government, to which they will surrender their arms.”
-- THE UN WORLD CONSTITUTION (Well, there is a small part of the charter.
Q. When did the US and these nations decide this? And why was not it in the papers?)
The CFR is dedicated to one-world government, financed by a number of the largest tax exempt foundation (i.e. Rockefeller), and wielding such power and influence over our lives in the areas of finance, business, labor, military, education, and mass communication media, that it should be familiar to every American concerned with good government and with preserving and defending the US Constitution and our free-enterprise system. Yet, the nation’s right-to-know machinery, the news media; usually so aggressive in exposures to inform our people, remain silent when it comes to the CFR, its members and their activities. The CFR is the establishment. Not only does it have influence and power in key decision-making positions at the highest levels of government to apply pressure from above, but it also finances and uses individuals and groups to bring pressure from below, to justify the high level decisions for converting the US from a sovereign Republic into a servile member of a one-world dictatorship.”
The cold war was extended by the Zionists in order to keep the weapons flow going to Israel. Of course, there is more to the puzzle but that is a crucial piece of it. Thank you, KNOWBUSH. I totally"missed"the connection. Why from 24 years in and around gov’t and then move on to head the World Bank? To set up the Iraqis by lending them more than afford to repay and then call in the loan. Q: What do they have to clear the debt? A: OIL. Control over their oil supply is a great motivation. And what better way to accomplish this deed? The World Bank. Brilliant! No wonder his nomination was “barely” reported in the national media. No wonder the Europeans,and others, were leary.
As most of the bloggers here are considered conspiracy theorists/fanatics by the neocons, we are really conspiracy “recognizers/identifiers”. We take very little that they say on merit and the notorious “grain of salt” doesn’t do our beliefs justice. Face it neocons, we simply do not trust you. At all. You have given no reason(s) for us to do so. What you, and your actions, have done is create a belief that there is nothing you say, or do, that we can believe. The 911 truth makes me want to find a strategy that puts you all in harm’s way. Not loss of job,nor place in society,nor living in disgrace...the only answer is not living...in disgrace, or in society. I think it’s time (or past time) to WAKE UP AMERICA and make an example of these people. Work towards the following plan. First, and foremost, remove them from causing any MORE damage against America. Then, go through some legal machinations that can be percieved as fair treatment (we wouldn’t want those Red states crying foul, now would we smile )BTW...RED STATES? Interesting how the neocons favored states have that color,seeing as how RED always used to be the color of the “commies”. After the theater of justice we then get down to business. We don’t “turn the other cheek”. We get, justifiably” angry and act on that anger. How, you might ask. Easy answer. If these “amatuers” want to act like the Mafia (i.e. they lend you money that you can’t pay back and they get your business in return), so be it. They should be treated as the players in that game are. Dissapearance comes to mind. But not,initially, theirs alone. Family and friends first. True punishment involves your loved ones first. That adds tremendous guilt to the pain. I’m not a masochitic person folks, I’m actually pretty calm and anti-violence. But this group has me incensed. Either we find a way to stop all PACs and $ influence on our electoral process or we get “down and dirty” about the problem. Apathy here is national suicide.
The Internet allows for “real time” discussions and the ability to mobilize. I welcome anyone to join me in this endeavor. Forget about Big Brother, if you really care. The goal is worth the risk, if you catch my drift. Sorry if I’m too wordy, but I’m getting more pissed off by the day.
Quote *blog dog: “...Able Danger actually ran the 911 terrorist patsies who could never have pulled it off...”
I think we all saw the WTC planes but what I dispute is whether anyone could ever have hijacked them in the first place unless they were properly trained passenger jet pilots (military or civilian) with a working knowledge of the interior layout of 747’s.
If anyone has seen inside a cockpit, they will know what I mean. There are literally dozens of dials and levers and even flying a light aircraft is nothing at all like driving a car. What is more, how could an inexperienced person even find New York from the air never mind identify the right building to hit. Also, the two planes each succeeded in hitting a separate tower of the WTC!!!
Its not easy to get into the cockpit, either. Unless you’ve been there, you couldn’t even find it on a 747 and there is more than one door to go through. And you have to get past the navigator and other crew in that area as well. The hijackers would have to have had some equipment to use to break through those doors - or a key or pass code!!!
There’s no way a couple of ordinary guys could have done any of that with mere “box-cutters”. They would have to have been armed and it would have to have been a military-style operation. And, since when could anyone have ever found “box-cutters” in such a crash site and attributed them to the hijackers?  Even the crash of the third airliner would have strewn wreckage over a couple of miles.
No, 9/11 surely was planned and executed far better than we have been told by the authorities.
Yesterday, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Pentagon, under the direction of arch neoconservative Doug Feith, got Shaha Riza a job with DOD subcontractor Science Applications International Corp (SAIC).
Back then, like now, she was the mistress of Paul Wolfowitz who, at the time, served as DOD Under-Secretary before joining Riza at the World Bank.
And what is Science Applications International Corp?
From SourceWatch: SAIC was founded in 1969 as a “scientific consulting firm with a handful of government contracts for nuclear power and nuclear weapons effects study programs.”
Over the years, the company expanded into national and homeland security programs, non-nuclear energy studies, health care systems, environment-related businesses, information technologies, high-technology products, telecommunications, transportation and eSolutions services and products for commercial and government customers.
In 1990, SAIC was indicted and pled guilty to 10 felony counts of fraud on a Superfund site, called “one of the largest (cases) of environmental fraud in Los Angeles history.” In 2006, SAIC had some 44,000 employees and took in $8 billion.
Reported Vanity Fair in March 2007, SAIC is “larger than the departments of Labor, Energy, and Housing and Urban Development combined.  SAIC’s largest customer by far is the U.S. government, which accounts for 69 percent of its business,”
Vanity Fair also said that SAIC executives have been involved at every stage of the Iraq war—from pushing WMD claims to helping “investigate how American intelligence could have been so disastrously wrong.”
“Under yet another no-bid contract,” reported Vanity,“ SAIC created the Iraqi Media Network, supposedly a free and independent indigenous media network that quickly became a mouthpiece for the Pentagon.  Eventually, the network was turned over to Iraqi control.  Today it is a tool of Iraq’s Shiite majority and spews out virulently anti-American messages.  Moreover, SAIC’s work on the Iraqi Media Network was criticized by the Pentagon’s Inspector General as having ‘widespread violations of normal contracting procedures.’”
I could rant forever about SAIC and their treasonous neocon associates, but here are two tidbits worth closing my comment with : (1) David Kay, the former UN weapons inspector hired by the CIA in June 2003 to to track down Iraqi WMDs, works for SAIC and (2) Robert Gates is a former board member.
Hugh E. Scott, editor of FreedomCentralUSA.com, an investigative website dedicated to the destruction of domestic fascism (neoconservatism) using truth and the Internet as WMDs.
I also edit King-George.biz—the only website with hardcopy proof of White House corruption.
I resent the comment that Wolfie looks like a wolf. Wolves are noble creatures. This guy is a bottom of the barrel scumbag. While he’s making rich his mistress, people around the world live on less that one dollar everyday. Yeah, yeah, I know a dollar buys you more abroad. But that is still not enough to feed a family or to drink clean water. We need leaders, not losers who have to pay their women to stick around. This is fancy prostitution. Illegal.
When history looks back at the former and present neo-con members of this administration there will be one true constant thruout that describes each of them, bu$h, Cheney, Rice, Wolfowitz, Rummy, etc...that they were all pathological liars. They apparently feel no responcibilty to the american people ( or anyone else ) to tell the truth. Its one synical deception after the other, as if they are competing with eachother in who can deceive the most people the longest. It is this constant barrage of lies that erases all credibility in this administration. Unfortunately we still have the liars in charge and a democratic leadership that refuses to pursue the ultimate accountabilty, IMPEACHMENT, followed by INDICTMENT.
This guy is a major player in the “evil cabal” that was a primary voice in the planning of the 911 atrocity. As “evil” as any of that group(Paris) that “sacrificed” all of those American lives in our American Trajedy. He was a major voice in the “conference” that decided that their group needed another “Pearl Harbor-type” event to mobilize Americans and get the “acquiesence"of the American populace to back the “retaliation” against those evil people who were attempting to change all of our lives in America. We would, by this plan, back any/all actions that retaliated for the death & destruction of 911.Just like with “Pearl Harbor”.
Unfortunately we can’t call for the impeachment of a private citizen that doesn’t hold public office.But, through our vaunted legal system of justice, we can call for his head, and body,and that’s what we all need to do. A warning meeds to be issued...You cause damage to our country, you pay a price. Right? I believe we should make a “Major League” example of this “Major League Bad Guy”!
Let’s push to have his corrupt & condensending butt sent to one of our “finer” penal facilities. In fact, let’s “push” to introduce all similarly disgusting elitist assholes to our well-established facilities. When these “rich” guys get a taste of that kind of life(ouch)it may serve as an effective “warning” for them to realize that there’s a price to pay (ouch)when you screw with the American citizenry.We need a “poster child” guys, and(in my opinion)Mr. Wolfowitz is perfect for this role. Don’t worry, he’ll be given the basic “touch your toes” training to make sure he’s prepared.And he can writeletters to all of his friends of his new,and great,life experiences.
I have been reading some of the calls for the media-types to address the 911 disgrace and....I absolutely agree. Those guys (like Bill Maher and others)need to find the “courage” to address the facts that have been surfacing,in their respective venues. They should be allowed to take the “safe” course and expect continuing support from those Americans who demand the truth.I think that, if the true facts are verified, impeachment is the least of Dubya&Company;’s problems. In my opinion, I would vote firing squad. Hanging is second. Lethal injection seems lacking in the"the punishment fitting the crime “requirement.
As an FYI- I work with a guy, and older guy, that has a saying....If you’re looking for a reason “why”,9 out of 10 times, the answer is money. But,if you really look at #10, it’s also about money. Filial piety is the oriental sayiny for “respect the elders”.As long as money is the reason, do not look any further for people’s motivation. Shallow? To us, yes. To them, that’s ALL THAT MATTERS. Let us all try to “connect”, and mobilize, to start taking back the country we all love. Peace.
It’s nice that the World Bank is attracting a great deal of attention by its corruption, but we should notice the World Bank is playing an important role in the U.N. Millennium Development Goals.
Unfortunately, our political leaders are not making enough commitment to make it happen. We should put pressure on our leaders to achieve the plan they already agreed to, the plan to end world hunger.
The plan to end world hunger is underway but receiving very little support from U.S. political leaders. Without the world’s agenda-setter making the Millennium Goals a global priority, according to The Borgen Project, 600 million people will remain in poverty that otherwise could live healthy, productive lives.
It’s not so hard if we really try to make it work.
This kind of thing would have been prevented if there was accountability in politics.  When former President Ford died one of the stories that was discussed was Fords pardon of Nixon and “How that was the right thing to do.” We should remember that a lot of people in the Bush White House were staffers for Nixon and of course Dr. Kissinger is still around.  If these people, including Nixon would have went to prison during Watergate, they would have been felons and would not be serving in the government today.  We as a nation cannot afford to let anyone be above the law.  Everyone, including and especially Presidents should go to jail when they get caught in breaking the law.  The people of the United States must insist on this.
Wolfie’s expensive business suit seems too big for his frame. It just doesn’t sit right. Try as he might he can’t fill it. This sartorial problem of Wolfie’s is only one example of the “challanges” he faces. Basically, he just isn’t big enough for the great post he takes on; he just can’t cut it!
Now, this wouldn’t matter much if he small store selling books about politics and economics, history or military affairs. We could live with Wolfie’s bookstore, he’d get by and so would we, and everything would be just fine. But, but, but; Wolfie is not running a little bookstore which would suit his abilities down to the ground, no, Wolfie is running the World! And is he humble about the great trust we place in the men who run the world? No, he isn’t. Wolfie thinks he was born to run the world! These neoconmen mix towering arrogance with collosal ignorance in equal measure. They puff themselves up like preening “intelectual” peacocks and really believe they are superior to the rest of us. They think they are the sheppards and we are the sheep. Now this would be funny if Wolfie was in his bookstore and we were just chewin’ the fat with the guy. We’d all say, yeah, yeah, that’s just old Wolfie, guy’s a bit nutty, but kind of harmless.
But, we all know it isn’t funny at all, because Wolfie is running the World! People with enormous Power and great armies actually listen to Wolfie! Not only do they listen to him, they follow-up on what he says! It’s crazy. Like a nightmare. Someone please wake me up! Wolfie, yes old Wolfie, yes, the guy from the corner bookstore, has sent thousands of young Americans to their deaths. He’s destroyed whole countries, levelled cities and the dead and wounded are piled-up in mountains! Because, somehow the world has been turned upside down, and old Wolfie is running the world!
Look closely at the face of this scumbag, the countenance of a leader of the neocon zionist cabal, and consider the ugliness of the mind that it conceals.
The ugliness that helped create the deplorable deceptions that lead to the Iraq holocaust, the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent children, women, and men. That put Iraq under the bootheels of an occupation resulting in the equivalent of 36 Virginia Tech catastrophes happening daily. (They lose three times that number of victims daily, and are one-twelfth our size) That caused families eating their meals, in their homes, in constant fear of bombs or door-busting invasions, to often be decimated by un-improvised explosive devices. That created millions of refuges, reminiscent of WWII.
Consider all that ugliness, internal and external, and recognize the necessity of his having to pay for pussy.
But also recognize that this obscenity deserves to be banned from contact or influence with humanity.
Wolfowitz Finds New Position for Imus
Following his successful placement of his friend, Shaha Riza, World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz undertook the task of finding a new job for radio host Don Imus. Mr. Imus’ contracts with NBC and CBS had recently been terminated and he was in need for a new platform for his message.
Taking advantage of his connections with the U.S. government, Mr. Wolfowitz has successfully placed Mr. Imus in a major position with the Voice of America. This newly created position will feature Mr. Imus in a daily news program to be called “Imus to the World” While the format has not been completely designed as yet, the program is expected to include interviews with politicians, celebrities, and TV pundits, as well as American country music.
The Imus program will be simulcast on radio and TV.
While details have not been released, the contract negotiated by Mr. Wolfowitz is said
to be by far the most lucrative for any Voice of America employee. The content of one provision has been made public: Mr. Imus is required to direct his offensive language only to enemies of the U.S., such as islamists, and to bureaucrats employed by the World Bank.
This is the predictable outcome and not the first or only example of the criminal arrogance of this Republican Administration. It is the same dynamic that has allowed no bid contracts even though there hasn’t been an excuse for these wasteful contracts, probably not even at the time they were instituted.
The none oversite of the way the publics money is being spent. The stacking of “facts” to disturb the working of justice. The appointment of religous fanatics to administer the laws and direct the inclusive programs of the government, all things these people hate and wish to destroy.
And, why do they hate them? They hate them because these things empower the poor and the helpless. Any moral or political validity the Republican party ever had was disappeared, bought by corporate America.
Another effete Neocon, managing with the convenient distance of a bubble in a tower, is amazed at the taste of dirt.
Paul Wolfowitz’s affair, and accompanying overpay for him and attached weasals, are slimy, of course.  But the more intriguing story, as touched on by Karen DeYoung in the WaPo on Sunday, April 15 ("Wolfowitz Clashed Repeatedly with the World Bank Staff"), is Wolfowitz’s pushing for accelerated lending to Iraq.
This is the man who said the war would pay for itself.
In this push, can’t we now see why Bush(CHENEY) appointed him to the World Bank?  To get money for his friends, the contractors?  To tie the Iraqis down (as if he hadn’t already created enough punishment) with impossible debts for decades to come, perhaps to further give reason for Iraq to have to forfeit its ownership of its own oil?
These are most foul deeds.
But, there again, this is Wolfowitz, of the Office of Special Plans, of the Project for the New American Century, of the University of Chicago—student of Leo Strauss.
So often, it would shed a great light on all we see if people understood what that meant, what Leo Strauss taught.
For an astonishing flash course on NeoCons and Strauss, Google to get to Seymour Hersh’s article, “Selective Intelligence” in The New Yorker, way back in May 2003! It was posted on May 5, published on May 12.  And spread the word.
For a more thorough, and dark, adventure into Strauss, NeoCons and our war on the Middle East, find the BBC 3 part documentary “The Power of Nightmares”.  Both video and transcripts are available.
Wolfowitz’s just desserts aside, it appears here that Robert Scheer is recovering the “hard-hitting” form for which he became justly famous at the now (journalistically, at least) defunct L.A. “Times.” We’ll have a clearer picture on that score, though, the next time he has occasion to reference the events of 9/11/01.
Meanwhile, the A-team of regular writers on the site have considerable incentive to step-up their already pretty good game.  There’re sure no percentages anymore, if ever there were, in pulling any punches.  It’s for damned sure the rogue regime on the Potomac and its cheerleaders in the “press” haven’t been, nor do they look like starting anytime soon.
Isn’t giving ‘em hairy hell, in the from of the unvarnished truth, the “mission statement” here?  So what’re we waiting for?
Billions of $$$ are squandered on pure lies on the Iraq war & thousands upon thousands of people have lost their lives.
In the meantime, Wolfowitz has been playing Romeo & arranging for a $60,000 raise for Reza at the State Department. Apparantly the money is not coming out of Wolfowitz pockets. Its the Ole American taxpayer’s money funds!
We Americans are like a bunch of sheep. We are not doing much to hold these scumbs accountable to their corruptive records. We need to get rid of these parasites who are sucking our nation’s blood dry.
It’s over - one more bites the dust. It appears once the Straussians made it to Valhalla, proscriptions more fitting to mortals were off the table, so to speak - in the end such a venal demise for the once fearless Nietzschian somehow serves up a farcical reward better than most playwrights could have penned - where does it end for Wolfie? Will there be a guest house on the Uruguay Escape Ranch, or will they all turn their backs and leave the “odd” couple to a tawdry bungalow hidaway in a desperate Miami suburb?
