Exaggeration of Iranian Threat Could Have Dire ConsequencesPosted on Apr 20, 2010It is a dismaying reflection that the facilitators of major violence thus far in the 21st century have been lies told by democratic governments. The lies are continuing to be told, about the supposed “existential” menace posed by Iran to Israel, America and (if you believe some European leaders) Western Europe. One can say there is nothing new about lies. I would argue that the influence of mendacious official propaganda in the Western democracies is probably greater today than in the last century. There was a certain utopian innocence in the first half of the last century. The secular utopian promises were truly believed. People were made happy by believing in the romantic futures they were told would follow the seizures of power by Bolsheviks or the Italian Fascists. In Germany, Hitler offered vengeance and vindication to his people, and a future of supremacy. Those were serious matters, but romantic notions, too, used to justify the fulfillment of criminal fantasies. At the end of the century, Slobodan Milosevic promised Serbs fulfillment of the dream of a greater Serbia ruling its lesser neighbors. One might have thought there had been a lesson in the brutal and senseless murder of millions in the world wars to deter such ambitions. But again the wars of Yugoslav succession were inspired by lies—deliberately perpetuated, reawakened lies about the past, fictions about the malevolent ambitions of intimately related fellow-peoples of the former Yugoslavia, to produce the murder of still more of them. One might also have thought, at the end of that century, that Mikhail (and Raisa) Gorbachev’s inspired visitation by reason and wisdom would provide a decisive lesson about ending the lies. Gorbachev’s first liberating proposal was glasnost —telling the truth. One might have believed that we would, in the 21st century, still be breathing the oxygen of glasnost. Advertisement Next was the fiction that Hussein’s government, during the period of U.N. sanctions before 2003, was able to secretly construct nuclear weapons, despite the efforts of Western intelligence to detect them or deter him, and the presence of U.N. inspectors. There were no such weapons. Another fiction was that if Saddam’s Iraq did somehow obtain weapons of mass destruction, he could and would use them to attack Israel or the United States, despite the massive retaliatory power possessed by both of those countries, and their evident willingness to use it to avenge any attack. When people insist that this danger from Iraq was not the product of Western propaganda but a reality, or at least a plausibility, it became necessary to ask, as one does in the strategic studies business: How? Give me the scenario. Tell me how this attack could come about. Without an answer, it was necessary to conclude that Iraq was attacked for reasons having nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction. According to the post-invasion testimony of Saddam’s associates, prior to the Gulf War he was interested in weapons of mass destruction—in order to deter an attack by Iran! He feared revenge for his own invasion of Iran in 1980, and the eight-year war that followed, in which Iraq did use poison gas, and also enjoyed support from the United States. The Iraqi dictator, following the Gulf War, decided that obtaining mass-destruction weapons was no longer feasible, but he deliberately cultivated an air of mystery about his intentions as a factor of deterrence of Iran. The American invasion of Iraq in 2003 was motivated by the neoconservative illusion that the Iraqi people would welcome invasion and become a force for democracy, and friends to Israel. Instead, the death of Saddam Hussein and destruction of his government, the wrecking of Iraqi urban society and the country’s infrastructure and industry, which will take years to reconstruct, ignited anarchic insurrection and sectarian conflict, delivering the country into the power and influence of a much larger and more important enemy of both the United States and Israel—Iran. Another lesson about lies, one might have thought. U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates reportedly sent a secret letter to President Barack Obama in January reviewing the military options available if diplomacy and the new American attempt to intensify international sanctions on Iran fail to produce the desired halt in Iran’s effort, if that is what it is, to build a nuclear deterrent. If Iran does pursue a nuclear capability, once again it is to deter attack. Precisely the same objection exists to theories of Iranian aggression as to those lies put forward in 2002-03 about Iraq posing a nuclear menace to the world. Once more, the threat is a polemical invention, intended to frighten American and Israeli (and European) voters and to prompt a preemptive attack on Iran. The reason Gates expressed his uncertainties to the president is that he, too, recognizes that the conflict with Iran is constructed from fictions—which, as with the lies about Iraq, may turn into another war, whose consequences are sure to be worse for all concerned than the fiasco and tragedy of America’s invasion of Iraq. Question from the gathering: Rabbi Rabinovich, what about the various religions after the Third World War?
Rabinovich: There will be no more religions. Not only would the existence of a priest class remain a constant danger to our rule, but belief in an after-life would give spiritual strength to irreconcilable elements in many countries, and enable them to resist us. We will, however, retain the rituals and customs of Judaism as the mark of our hereditary ruling caste, strengthening our racial laws so that no Jew will be allowed to marry outside our race, nor will any stranger be accepted by us. (Note: Protocol of Zion No. 17 para. 2, states: ‘Now that freedom of conscience has been declared everywhere (as a result of their efforts they have previously stated) only years divide us from the moment of the complete wrecking of that [Hated] Christian Religion. As to other religions, we shall have still less difficulty with them.’)
We may have to repeat the grim days of World War II, when we were forced to let the Hitlerite bandits sacrifice some of our people, in order that we may have adequate documentation and witnesses to legally justify our trial and execution of the leaders of America and Russia as war criminals, after we have dictated the peace. I am sure you will need little preparation for such a duty, for sacrifice has always been the watchword of our people, and the death of a few thousand lesser Jews in exchange for world leadership is indeed a small price to pay. To convince you of the certainty of that leadership, let me point out to you how we have turned all of the inventions of the White Man into weapons against him. His printing presses and Radios are the mouthpieces of our desires, and his heavy industry manufactures the instruments which he sends out to arm Asia and Africa against him.
Our interests in Washington are greatly extending the Point Four Program (viz. Colombo Plan) for developing industry in backward areas of the world, so that after the industrial plants and cities of Europe and America are destroyed by atomic warfare, the Whites can offer no resistance against the large masses of the dark races, who will maintain an unchallenged technological superiority. And so, with the vision of world victory before you, go back to your countries and intensify your good work, until that approaching day when Israeli will reveal herself in all her glorious destiny as the Light of the World.” (Note: Every statement made by Rabinovich is based on agenda contained in the “Protocols of Zion.”)

By most accounts Israel has 400 nuclear bombs or one nuclear bomb for each 100,000 Israeli Jews.
To achieve parity Itan needs 6,800 nuclear bombs and the rest of the world needs 650,000 nuclear bombs
There is also the matter of parity in missiles, fighter jets, submarines, white phosphorous bombs, etc, etc.

Raimondo is a libertarian, Balkas, and like myself, believes the solution to this country’s problems is a new birth of real freedom—not the sham freedom handed down from on high such as the US government pretends to give its citizens, but freedom from the grassroots up.
I suppose you and I can agree to disagree on some things, but that the scourge of perpetual war must be brought to an end—hopefully we’re in agreement there. I can worry about what a post-militarist USA might be like after the whole bloody, poisonous system of perpetual war is dismantled.

sorry, but justin does not posit even one known cause fro all of the ills that befall us. Nor does he postulate a cause or causes for our troubles.
So, may i do it? The initial cause for all ills that happen to us on interpersonal or int’l levels, was division of people into more-valued and less-valued.
From just this iniquity;still extant in much of the world all ills befel us: warfare, slavery, serfdom, poverty, rebellions against ‘our’ rulers, lying by clero-politico-educational ‘elite’, joblessness, etc.
Illusion of grandeur, lying, and thus lust for power are known causes for our maladies.
All these causes were caused by the initial iniquity of dividing people; which caused further divisions into socialists, asocialists, methodists, catholics, muslims, clergy, laics, pols, etc.
And being so divided or running in all directions, just a dozen very evil people [with lotsof money, tho], but strongly united, can rule mns.

Thus it’s obvious that Iran must fall. Let’s assume that they’re not stupid. They must know that attack is sure, by subornation of treason or by violence, or by both, Iran will be attacked,is being attacked. Rfidler, I would be perfectly happy to assume they have none, but this is the Israelis we’re talking about and they do have nuclear weapons, we know they do. Israel is a nuclear armed state and has been for a long time so what are you trying to say? That at Dimona they have beehives full of honey bees buzzing around? What absolute nonsense. You also still aren’t addressing the main point, which is that Israel is nuclear, has not signed the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and while Iran has not attacked anyone, Israel has attacked a number of someone’s including its 2006 invasion of Lebanon where the IDF used phosphorous bombs on civilian apartment buildings and bombed and shot car conveys of fleeing civilians to pieces: they also bombed hospitals and a United Nations building. They lost this so-called war but still managed to spread millions of cluster bomb submunitions all over Southern Lebanon in the last three days before they withdrew. An act of sheer bastardry, that had no military purpose except to blow up Lebanese civilians and Lebanese children.
Then in Gaza they carried out an attack of absolute barbarity on unarmed civilians and shot down entire families including grandmothers and their grandchildren and burned babies to death with phosphorous bombs. So horrific was this attack that a Jewish judge,Justice Goldstone, who headed an inquiry into what happened in Gaza found Israel had committed war crimes in Gaza. As usual, Rfidler, you’ve missed the point. There is an Israeli nuclear facility at Dimona and NO ONE INCLUDING ME KNOWS WHAT NUMBER OR TYPE OF NUKES THE ISRAELI’S HAVE: that’s the point. What I do know is that Israel pulled out of Obama’s nuclear disarmament conference because word leaked out that Egypt and other Arab countries were going to raise the question of Dimona. I know as much about depleted uranium as you do, not much in other words, except that the US used it all over Iraq and especially in Fallujah where a lot of horribly deformed babies have been born as a consequence. I hope I don’t need to tell you about Hiroshima and Nagasaki and what that did to Japanese civilians and their unfortunate offspring.
Israel is not a democracy under any definition of democracy I’m aware of. It’s a military/intelligence/theocracy or to be more exact it’s a polyarchy- a state that is run and ruled by an elite. An elite of unscrupulous, nuclear armed fanatics who only allow the voters to vote for other fanatics and assassinate anyone, like Yitzak Rabin, who actually tries to make peace. “Israel’s air force is already larger and technologically more advanced than that of any NATO power, (the US excepted)according to IDF analysts. Washington is now providing the IDF air force with more than a hundred advanced jet bombers, F-16’s- for which there is no credible defense need” according to Noah Chomsky who is, I suppose, according to you, a self-hating Jew for telling the truth about Israel. He also writes, that “The Israeli press adds further that the US is providing the IDF air force with “special weaponry” (“himush myuhad”...there can be little doubt that Iranian and other intelligence services are watching closely and probably giving a worst case analysis: that these might be nuclear weapons”.
The fact is, if you apply the standard to America and Israel that they want to apply to Iran, a country that has attacked no one and has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which neither the US or Israel has signed, then the UN inspectors should be sent to both countries immediately and sanctions on both countries should be put in place post haste.

I have heard much talk that if any nation is going to drop bombs on Iran, it would be Israel. I bet many USA citizens believe that it is ok if a nation drops bombs on Iran, so long as it will not be the USA.
You see, the USA society in general is more or less war weary - even those who were believed the propaganda about Saddam Hussein and thought the invasion of Iraq was justified. What I believe some in the international community does not understand is that IF Israel drops bombs on Iran, regardless of justification, Israel will be hated the world over moreso than it already is. Also, more than likely, dropping bombs on Iran would be the beginning of WW3; ironically, Israel would be blamed for that moreso than Iran you see.
Some people believe that Iran is justified in having nuclear power - especially being surounded by five nuclear armed nations. Plus it is legal for them to create and use nuclear energy for civilian purposes per the NNPT. By the way, how many nuclear armed nations surround the USA? Iran even says time and time again that they are not building nuclear weapons. Even if Iran does make a nuclear weapon, or buys one, it is not as if Iran will use it anyhow. I do not think Iran is that stupid. If it turns that Iran was making a nuclear weapon all along, it would be for deterrence purposes. I mean… Iraq and Afghanistan flanks Iran on each side and both are being invaded/occupied by the USA. It is not understandable why Iran would be concerned about this scenario?
Anothr reason why the USA is so reluctant to drop bombs on Iran and/or invade/occupy Iran is because the USA is unable to financially afford to. It would upset important nations. Gas prices in the USA would go sky high. Plus, the USA nuked another nation in the past. These are reasons why I believe that if any nation is willing to drop bombs on Iran, it would be Israel. I hope this does not happen, for everyone’s sake.

America is the only country in the world that has actually dropped nuclear bombs on another country and has used depleted uranium weapons all over Iraq and Afghanistan. America has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and Iran has. Israel has nuclear weapons at Dimona, its secret nuclear site and not one person in the outside world knows what goes on there or what they actually have. Add to that the fact that Iran hasn’t attacked anyone in around 200 years and you can see what a lie this whole Iran hysteria is: it’s exactly the same as the madness that went on before the invasion of Iraq. The difference is that Iran is five times as big as Iraq and has the power to send the oil price into the stratosphere, destroying the entire economic recovery that we hope is taking root. Israel has probably told America that if they don’t bomb Iran, Israel will, and that is the dilemma Obama faces but the whole idea that Iran intends to attack Israel is a lie on a par with the “smoking gun in the shape of a mushroom cloud” and Iraq’s ability to launch a nuclear attack, with no nuclear weapons (really clever), in fifteen minutes.
It also has to be remembered that the neo cons always intended to attack Iran, it was on the list of Middle East countries that should be attacked to effect regime change to unleash a tsunami of democracy that would change all Middle East countries - except Israel, which is a theocracy and a military/fascist state and not a democracy and would continue to be so.
