By Deanne Stillman

Letter From the West is a monthly series by Deanne Stillman that explores what is going on in our wide open spaces and what we do to one another and all that lives there.

Let me put it to you this way: Bears hibernate during election season.

That’s just one of various things that show that Sarah Palin and her comrades—the self-professed Mama Grizzlies among the nation’s aspiring tax-funded representatives—have nothing in common with our ursine sisters.

Here’s another: Mama Grizzlies protect their cubs and in fact are known for their fierce defense of young offspring. Palin has made her motherhood a political issue, but in doing so she has exposed her young. Remember when she was running for vice president and passed her Down syndrome baby Trig around at the Republican Convention a couple of years ago, to thunderous applause and under the heat and glare of more than a thousand points of light? This would be a sensory overload for any 4-month-old baby, but according to the testimony of various mothers of Down syndrome babies at the time, children with that affliction are particularly sensitive to such stimuli and it is not wise to subject them to such an experience. You can be sure that a true Mama Grizzly would have put many miles between her baby and a roaring crowd.

And here’s one more: Like other wild animals, Mama Grizzlies hunt to live. Of course, Palin and many others who like to hunt and fish eat the animals and fish that they kill—and we all, or at least a lot of us, eat the animals and fish that others kill for us. However, trophy killing is not part of the Mama Grizzly program. Nor do Mama Grizzlies wage war on their own cubs. Let’s revisit Palin’s record on this front, something that seems to have been lost in recent coverage—and it was barely covered in the first place.

Square, Site wide
Thanks to veteran wildlife columnist Ted Williams, we have a record of exactly what Palin has done to wildlife in Alaska, in particular bears and wolves—and, we can surmise, would do to wildlife in the rest of the country if she and her fellow travelers had the power to do so. In the July-August 2009 issue of Audubon magazine, while Palin was governor of Alaska, Williams wrote this: “Persecution of wolves has been going on in Alaska since the gold rush. Palin has escalated the war. And now, in addition to wolves, the state is facilitating the slaughter of large numbers of bears—blacks as well as grizzlies, both of which occasionally include a newborn moose or caribou in their omnivorous diets. Even cubs and lactating sows are being targeted. Palin’s seven-person Board of Game—which hatches regulations and sets policy for the state Department of Fish and Game—has been more than happy to do her bidding. Six members belong to an anti-predator, trophy-hunter-funded outfit called the Alaska Outdoor Council, and the seventh is Palin’s close friend.”

Williams goes on to report that although wolves and bears are safe if they remain on land units that are managed by federal agencies other than the Bureau of Land Management, “on six state predator-control areas covering 70,000 square miles they’re dying en masse. In virtually all of this area wolf populations are to be reduced by 80 percent and held there indefinitely. In the 11,105-square-mile Predator Control Unit 16, west of Anchorage across the Cook Inlet, black bears are to be reduced by 60 percent.” In addition, he writes that in March 2009, the Board of Game “legalized the long-banned practice of ‘same-day airborne hunting,’ in which hunters take the ‘fair’ out of ‘fair chase’ by locating bears from the air, then landing next to them and blazing away—this in the 8,513-square-mile McGrath predator-control unit near the Kuskokwim River in interior Alaska.”

Taking on the argument that it’s just a bunch of outsiders from the lower 48 who don’t have a clue about what’s going on in Alaska, let alone the right to talk about policy in someone else’s backyard, Williams cites local figures who understand exactly what’s going on in the woods and what it means for wildlife—which, in the end, belong to no one but their own tribes. For instance, Mark Richards, at the time the co-chairman of the Alaska chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, wrote to Williams via satellite e-mail due to the lack of phone service in a remote area, and stated that “political meddling” has “never been so blatant and detrimental to our system of wildlife management as it is under the Palin administration.”

If the faux Mama Grizzlies move into positions of power, they will amp up the war on the animal whose name they dishonor and we will all be saying hasta la vista to bear nation. The animals are already listed as threatened in the lower 48 states. And we’ll also be uttering farewell to the Endangered Species Act, and the animals, plants and fish covered therein, something that various constituencies including the “sagebrush rebels”—now back under various other monikers, including “Mama Grizzlies”—have been trying to take down since Ronald Reagan was president. As it stands now, those protections are under siege, with the Obama administration reportedly considering changes in the Act.

It is comfortable to speak of the ignorance of
others. And about candidates, who if elected, will
become “politicians,” as though friends, who if
elected, will perhaps NOT become “politicians”?

Moving to a state where a friend may possibly be
elected, as though the friend, as governor, will be
able to deter the effects of the Patriot Acts, the
control of FEMA, and the tasking of NORTHCOM?  Will
he prevent the MOSSAD-controlled “see-thru” machines
from being installed at major airports?

What about the repeated placing of “explosives” in
targeted buildings - now diverted to “cargo packages
from Jemen”?  Which subterfuge established the basis
for the NAZI/US machine to overtake Jemen?  Similar
to the WMD fairy-tale cast over Sadaam Hussein?  The
CIA/MOSSAD and their mercenaries are really
expert at placing explosives?
Does the order to place the explosives
originate in D.C., or the huge,
residential compound in Texas ?

Has everyone forgotten the naive, little African who
was secreted aboard the airliner in Holland, by the -
executive-type in the black suit who got him onto the
airliner WITHOUT a PASSPORT?  A first for a european,
international airport!!  With the alleged explosives
affixed to his underdrawers? Around whom were four
CIA/secret-service operatives sitting, to insure that
only his crotch-hairs burned, but nothing exploded?
Plus the female operative who had a canned speech to
give to the press, immediately after the dumb, little
chump was downloaded from the airplane?

Viewing the video by the former CIA chief, in which
he reveals the sinister, illegal actions of the CIA
over its about fifty years of history, clarifies any
and all questions about “who and what” was/is behind
the destruction and turmoil in the world.
His video vilifies the “Chronicles of Chip Tatum.”

Only, the string-pullers are inadequately identified.
Does the chief-string-puller still reside in
a U.S. Taxpayer-supported, residential
compound in Texas?

Well, earlier I tried to relieve the tension with a
joke but it looks like the joke is on America.  It’s
slightly after 10pm, EDT, and I have been watching
the gloating on FOX News about the Republician
landslide.  The narrator(don’t know his name. I
don’t spend a lot of time watching FOX) referred
to the election results as “miraculous.”  Well, we
will see how miraculous the results will be over the
next two years.  You can thank many television
ministers for contributing to the election results.
They have access to millions of voters.  I think these
false teachers have only demonstrated how close we
are to what the Bible calls “the great tribulation.”
They like to talk about abortion and homosexuality
but for some reason they fail to hardly ever mention
“greed.”  It looks like Scott is going to be governor
of the state where I presently abide, Florida. The
man is ignorant.  On a television commerical he said,
“What’s wrong with America is the politicians.” I
about fell out of my chair. I thought, “Doesn’t this
guy realize that if elected he will be a politician?”
At least my friend, Joe Manchin(Democrat), looks
like he is going to be the next senator from West
Virginia.  I’m thinking of enduring the long cold
winters by leaving Florida and returning to West
Virginia. I hate sounding so pessimistic but I’m
afraid the future looks bleak for the common people
in America.

After I voted I told the guy working the polling
station the following joke:

I heard a story about hillbillies living up
in the mountains talking about their wives. The first guy said, “My
wife is so stupid she bought a refrigerator and we don’t even have
electricity.” The second guy said, “I ...can top that. My wife is so
stupid she bought a washing machine and we don’t have running
water.” The third guy said, “I got you both beat. My wife is so
stupid she dropped her purse and lots of condoms rolled out and
she doesn’t even have a penis.”

The U.S. Constitution requires the U.S. president to
have been born in the U.S.A.  What is silly about
this requirement?  Especially, since the current
occupant has used all possible resources to
circumnavigate the issue. When the former custodian
of birth records in Hawaii said there was no birth
certificate for “Mr.” Obama.

Extrapolation.
When historical record is available, I see no need
to extrapolate, or “guess” what may, perhaps,
possibly, be done by a candidate.

Accusing GHWBush jr. of being responsible for the
current state-of-destruction of the USofA is
somewhat justified.  However, that his sire began it
while he was the secretive head of the CIA, at the
time of the murder of JFKSr, requires consideration.
Also, the former chief of the CIA, who reveals the
truth about the CIA, reveals the actions spawned by
GHWBushSr, not the man born as GHWBush,Jr. “Junior”
simply was a good boy and did what his sire told him
to do.  Just as his brother did, in falsifying the
election results in Florida in 2004.

Still, no one has the intestinal fortitude to
critique the political history of Hillary Clinton,
since her “dirty deal” for John D. Rockefeller, when
she was a lawyer in Arkansas, at which time he
promised her the eventual U.S. Presidency.  Which,
suggests to me that the critiques of Palin are done
largely by hired pimps of the current
administration, with an occasional uninformed
critique mixed-in.

If you go to The Charleston Daily Mail.com(I haven’t
learned enough about computers to make it red so
people can click on) you’ll see a picture of John
Raese, Sarah Palin, and Ted Nugent, together at a
rally in Charleston to support Raese’s attempt to
become the first Republician Senator in five decades.
It was the day before Halloween but Sarah had her
wicked witch of the north mask on.  She was even
giving the “hook-em-horns” sign for the previous
cowboy idiot who got us into this mess.  Ted Nugent
was wearing a cowboy hat.  I’m not sure they realized they were in West Virginia not Texas.  I
submitted the following comments following the story:

I’m too old to know Ted Nugent. His comment “we’ve let
the rats move in” intrigued me. Since he and Sarah just
moved into West Virginia I assume he must have been referring to himself and Sarah. If you young folks are
wasting your money on Ted’s music you are doing just that.
wasting your money. In the picture Sarah was out of touch
with reality as usual. It was the 30h and she was already
wearing her wicked witch of the North halloween mask a day
early. They think people from West Virginia are stupid.
They tried to blame our current problems on President Obama. We know who to blame the problems on. The cowboy
from Texas who just about ruined our nation in 8 short years. Did Ted and Sarah speak at the memorial in Beckley
on April 25th in honor of the 29 deceased miners? Absolutely not. However, President Obama and Governor
Manchin represented the miners, families, and friends of
the miners quite well. I was very proud of them. They
love people not money.

Thanks REDHORSE.  I thought it was funny when I
first read it.  I immediately thought of the recently
departed Sen. Robert Byrd.  He screwed the people
of West Virginia for YEARS.  He was a puppet for
the oil and coal companies.  He brought a few projects to West Virginia in his old age.  As he
was approaching death I think he started feeling
guilty.  As the coal and oil operators use to say,
“A Byrd in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

Well, drbhelthi, I couldn’t agree more with your description of the current (and former immediate) administrations (well, except for the silly Birth Certificate comment). But if we extrapolate a bit, I think this article wants us to imagine what the Alaskan Hillbilly WOULD do if given the chance and, in my opinion, the carnage with that Rapture-waiting, nut-job in the White House would be horrific (or, even more horrific - if that’s possible).

Sarah Palin endorsed Ilario Pantano for congress. Pantano emptied his M16 at point blank range on two unarmed Iraqis, then he pumped another 30 rounds(bullets) into them. A very cold blooded murder. As a result of Bushs courts he was released and is now running for congress in North Carolina 7th district with Sarah Palins approval. Sarah Palin to horrible for hell.

Thank You!! CHRISTIAN96. I’m still laughin’.

DRBHELTHI: My paranoia about Baboonus Washingtonus centers around what I think of as moral evil. For me, that’s politicians who knowingly make decisions for personal/special interest profit that violates the trust of and harms the American citizens they represent. My rage often gets the best of my reason so I try to “reality check” myself from time to time. Your fear of the potential these political thugs possess is probably justified, but they don’t exist in a vacuum. The enormity of the machinations you suggest would surely at the least be observed, discovered and voiced by our European neighbors.

My view, is that International elements of crime, finance, corporate enterprise and military profiteers have merged and subsumed American Democracy for the sake of personal power and gain. It has created a shadow world of spooks, informers, mercs and assassins to serve it. The resultant destructive cause and effect reality experienced by the average American tends to make one believe it must be intentional. Perhaps, but the simple truth reality is, they just don’t care. It’s visionless desire for money and power.

Palin is a marionette and represents the worst elements of the American Shadow. Blind ignorance and prejudice define her. Her attitude toward wolves and bears is important because it reflects the attitude of those who raised her from zombieland toward the environment. Wolves and bears are the Canaries in the ecological coal mine. They perish-we perish. That’s why we’re discussing the threat named S.Palin. As a Westerner I easily observe and experience the effects of GCC.

I look forward to the authors next article.

This article may be an accurate description of
basically two elements of Mrs. Palin´s deportment
while occupying the governorship of Alaska.  What
about other elements that affect human life?

In comparison to the alleged “leaders” who occupy
top positions in the U.S. Presidency and the U.S.
Congress, how does Mrs. Palin compare ?

Has she displayed a genuine, American birth
certificate that has been verified? Or has she used
political cronies to provide three years of deceit?

Did she have a hand in more-or-less “donating”
230 nukes to the foreign, political party
that calls itself “Israel,” whose PR extension
in the U.S., AIPAC, smothers democracy?

Did she have a hand in the destruction of
the Twin Towers plus the 3rd building, and the intentional murder
of over 3,000 inhabitants of the Twin Towers?

Did create the artificial “war on terror”?
Did she
support the WAR in Iraq, or Afghanistan, or did she
increase the number of troops in Iraq, Afghanistan,
and grant contracts to Blackwater and its string of
names, while saying she is withdrawing U.S. Troops?
Has she supported the machine that caused the repeat
of the depression of the 1920s in the U.S.?

Apparently, no one has the guts to critique Mrs.
Hillary Clinton, from the time of her lawyer days in
Arkansas up to the death of John F. Kennedy, Jr.

He would have been a winner for the senatorial seat
into which the machine placed “Hillary Clinton.” If
he had not been murdered by a carefully-placed bomb
in his airplane.  The “official cover-up story”
cannot refute the eye-witnesses who saw his airplane
blow-up in the sky.

The quasi-evil, political actions of Sarah Palin, in
comparison the history of Hillary Clinton, the
history of the current occupant of the U.S.
Presidency and the history of individuals he has
appointed, equals ZERO, in comparison.

Supporting a lobby that murders wolves and bears is
not the same as supporting a machine that murders
millions of indigenous folk in foreign countries
where “we” have no right to be. Sacrificing the
lives of Americans to support the lies and fraud of
foreigners who occupy the U.S. Administration, while
murdering an occasional famous athlete such as Pat
Tillman, who wants to reveal the truth about what is
going on?

Sarah Palin does not even qualify for membership in
this group of evil personages!

A little humor best describes elections:

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the Senator.

“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”

“Really?, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the Senator.

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, “Now it’s time to visit heaven…”

So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.”

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell…

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.

“I don’t understand,” stammers the Senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil smiles at him and says,

“Yesterday we were campaigning, Today, you voted..”

With regard to the unconscionable display of her Down’s Syndrome child, she should be referred to Child Services or whatever agency takes care of such matters, so that the boy can be removed from Sarah Palin’s household and put into a foster home with real loving parents, not the child abuser that she so deftly proved that she is.
As far as her malicious hunting habits are concerned, Ms. Palin’s bloodthirsty rampage against the animal kingdom are outrageous and uncalled for.  I’m not against hunting for food, it’s hunting for sport that I find so abominable.  Especially shooting from the air shows her contemptible inhumanity, and it is tantamount to animal abuse.  Both crimes are punishable in most states by imprisonment.  But, then again, riding just below the clouds kind of puts her above the law, doesn’t it?

Environmental cataclysm IS. A realignment of modern technology to support natural ecosystems and resources, restructured social systems to accomodate this and a reasonable International dialogue to begin bringing our exploding World population down to environmentally healthy numbers is the sane and necessary solution.

Corporate business and its lap dog Baboonus Washingtonus calls for “modernity” and “progress” but in fact only represents visionless greed. If they held any actual business acumen the American Industrial Base and the greatest economy in the World wouldn’t be gutted. Political frankencreatures like Palin represent a moral void. Evil Rovian necromancers tapped the darkest aspects of the American Shadow to raise these zombies. They are a front that with the help of the MSM prevents meaningfull dialogue and carries us ever closer to actual apocalypse, environmental, financial and otherwise. Look where Bush and Rove have already taken us. Are you afraid of Palin?  No. It’s the vicious thugs she fronts for. She’s a marionette.

The corruption is total. International Banking, Black Market Criminal Enterprise, Baboonus Washingtonus, International Corporate Business and the MIC represent an “above the law” ONE. They’re dangerous. But, if Neanderthal. less than superstition Christian goosesteppers, a Corporate for hire whore press and manufactured Koch loons like the Tea Party are the best they’ve got they’re already done. The reality coming down the pike is just to big. The Amazon is already failing. Our Colorado River is failing. It will completely fail by 2060. Look at L.A., social systems bankrupt and failing as the result of the huge imporatation of illegal labor. Its new Socialist roots stretch directly to Che and its International ties to Black Market Enterprise define it. If Baboonus Washingtonus couldn’t save New Orleans what’s it gonna do when L.A. has no water. There’s a better than even chance we will break into two or perhaps three separate countries by the end of this century. And some people are pushing for it. (Not just my opinion.)

The North Pole (as we knew it) is pretty much gone and the Polar Bear is fading fast. Palin and Corporate Baboonus Washingtonus believe they’re cutting our throats but in fact have doomed themselves to extinction. Don’t let them take you with them. World Consciousness and World Ecology is reordering itself. The American people, their Constitution and Bill of Rights will stand. Enlightenment and the Human Soul, no matter how vicious the tyrants, always prevail. Let the dead bury the dead. Join hands with the living.

Rigor:

Don’t think the writer is suggesting this baby stay hidden.  I had a downs syndrome cousin and she was fine most of the time but got absolutely crazy when the house filled with people or too much excitement was thrown in her face.  Down syndrome kids are easily excited and can be frightened by events we all take for granted.  The whole point she was trying to make is that Palin, who is an egomaniac by any definition, uses her kids and anyone else she can find as a prop for her own ego.  That bothers me a great deal along with a million other issues with this crazy woman.  You may find her candor refreshing but, in all honesty, do you want another Bush lite to run this country?  The last one we had pretty much ran our country into the ground and made us the laughing stock of the world.  At the very least, our next president should know where all the major countries of the world are located, their political structures and the names and faces of their leaders.

As for the animals, do you really want to live in a world that is barren of wildlife and only inhabited by humans and their domesticated brethren?  Sounds like a world I’d not be too interested in.  Anyone who would shoot an animal from an airplane needs to be drawn and quartered.  Let all these hunters face a grizzly with just a hunting knife.  Now that’s sport!

governing hunting and fishing, and since it’s obvious

A wonderful, courageous viewpoint.  It takes guts to point out Palin’s questionable motherhood ‘tactics.’  I would venture to say that dragging her grade school age children around the country to rallies on school nights and school days shows a lack of respect for the continuity of their education.

Also, the fact that none of her children have embarked on a college education indicates a satisfaction with her own ignorance as well as abdicating parental responsibility by not encouraging her children to widen their perspectives.
