What are all these posts, above, that are from last august?  Has nothing happened since then?

Christianity has a bogus and violent history
equivalent in intensity but longer than Islam. In a
secular democracy protecting all reasonable religious
belief we should keep our discourse secular as much
as possible. Maria CNA

David Reese,

This is just to let you know that I,for one,do share your positively and strongly expressed sentiment about Chris Hedges.

Thank you for taking the time for expressing your feeling so explicitly, with no phony but and mut. Chris Hedges certainly deserves it.

Despite a style that leaves me a bit cold on occasion I wish him well and will welcome him back.

Have a good time see you here in a month, I’m sure there won’t be much change. 0 will still gutting the Main Street citizens of the world with teabaggers/rich whining there’s just to many taxes and laws holding them back. I could go on but it’s time for wine.

If Chris were out on a book tour it would be easy to
find his nearest stop and see him in person. I write
more than a column 4 days a week and I know how
draining it can be. I hope he will take time to
reconsider what happened last week when he attacked a
pro-war, pro-violence and anti-privacy idealogue on
the contention that person is a fundamentalist, which
was awkwardly related to nihilist atheist beliefs. I
would have criticized torture and empire and
authoritarianism for what they are and then added how
shameful it is that anyone advocating for those
things would assume he can support his position using
atheism. Christianity has a bogus and violent history
equivalent in intensity but longer than Islam. In a
secular democracy protecting all reasonable religious
belief we should keep our discourse secular as much
as possible. I believe any insight Chris Hedges has
gained from his experiences was aided by his personal
critique of his native Christianity and a rebuilding
of an ethic not needing Christianity for support. He
may not understand the traumas that have befallen
him. He does understand the political and economic
dangers faced by the USA. Now that Chris Hedges has
told his war stories and his career stories I find
his accounts of injustice done to good people to be
the most important work. He should be out gathering
more. It is a shame he must thump a book of old
essays in pursuit of a payday, but that is the
contradiction most of us face. Mark Twain had the
same problem. I can be patient until Chris Hedges
develops fresh material. I’ll use the time to develop
my own. If anyone consumes uncritically for long they
are made a dupe.

Have a productive and satisfying August, Mr. Hedges.

We await your return eagerly to help us better understand our terrible
predicaments, and what we can do about them.

Man, I was hoping to read him today. Well, I hope he has a successful “book leave”. Is that book leave to finish a book or to tour? I would love to hear/see him on a tour.

AHHHGGGGH!  Not sure I can make through through August without a weekly
Chris Hedges column.  He’s one of the sanest people on the planet, and one of the
very few I respect.
