I worked as a production assistant at Ramparts for the better part of a year, and
remember Hinkle well, although I was so politically unconscious that I don’t
remember any of the other famous and infamous people who worked with and for
Ramparts…I was doing a lot of acid and mescaline in those days and drawing
really weird pen and ink drawings, some of which were published in Ramparts and
the even shorter-lived Sundance Magazine in SF, run by Ken Kelly, who recently
died.
I don’t dispute what smedley says about the power structure taking over any news
Report thisoutlet they consider too progressive, but to name the fairly progressive magazine
The Nation instead of Marty Peretz’s pathetic The New Republic is a mistake…

That’s easy, it’s basic informationwarfare. What did Stalin say? “How do you handle dissent? Easy, you lead it.” The government saw what Ramparts did, so they took its purpose over. What do you think The Nation magazine is?
