To paraphrase Thom…
“Voting isn’t enough. You have to get involved with the process. Call your congressmen, engage your local politicians, talk to friends and neighbors. Get involved.”
“Democracy starts with you. Tag, you’re it!”

One of the books I shall be looking for. I have posited the same thing he is saying. Only I don’t have the research he has done. As in Star Strek, which in their history they had to go through a Eugnics War, then World War III then barbarism but then came out of it in 150 years a unified earth. One where cooperation and the removal of all racist and sexist tendencies. We need to do that too, though without the 150 years of horror to do it. It could happen for real at any time for us. Gene Roddenberry was an optimist about the human race.*
My fear is that the Dominionists are wanting the gov’t to fail so they can swoop in to be the new gov’t and be an empire. Much like with what happened with Rome. If they succeed in toppling our gov’t but fail in taking over we could have a world too much like in Argentina or even Darfur of today.
*The “Mirror/Mirror” episode showed the worse kind of outcome with the free marketers of the Ayn Rand persuasion won out after WWIII. Milton Freidman rules along with Machiavelli.
Which will we get? Right now the empire is winning over the republic. They cheat and by hook or by crook they want to win.

I appreciate Thom on so many levels but, talking about solutions does not fix the problems we face.
As Thom often says, we must get involved in the democratic process to make the changes needed. Until that happens it’s just talk…signifying nothing!

I listen to this guy every morning on KTLA in Los Angeles. He’s one of the most articulate, thought-provoking, well-researched and most decent progressives out there. Kudos to Thom.
