Pelosi the EnablerPosted on May 12, 2009
Nancy Pelosi is no Dick Cheney, nor a George W. Bush. She was neither the author of a systematic policy of torture nor has she been, like Cheney and most top Republicans in Congress, an enduring apologist for its practice. It is a nonsensical distraction to place her failure to speak out courageously as a critic of the Bush policies on the same level as those who engineered one of the most shameful debacles in U.S. history. But what she, and anyone else who went along with this evil, as lackadaisically as she now claims, should be confronted with are the serious implications of their passive acquiescence. Why did she not speak up, or if it were a matter of a lack of reliable information, demand an accounting from the executive branch, as befits a leader of the loyal opposition in Congress? If the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, and later House Democratic leader, lacked the authority to publicly question a policy of torture, then how can we condemn, indeed imprison, ordinary soldiers who thought it their duty to follow orders? Even though Abu Zubaydah had been waterboarded 83 times before the September 2002 briefing of Pelosi, she now claims she was told only that the practice might be used and that it had been approved by the Bush Justice Department as legal. Wasn’t that approval in itself sufficiently alarming to justify a strong and public dissent? Certainly that would have been the appropriate response when Pelosi aide Michael Sheehy, along with Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., were informed by the CIA in no uncertain terms five months later that Zubaydah had been subjected to specific “enhanced” methods including waterboarding. Pelosi admits to possessing that information, but according to one of her aides quoted in Politico, after Harman’s letter questioning the practice received “no response” from the CIA, “there was nothing more that could be done.” Why not? Does the CIA or the White House that directs its activities stand above the law without any congressional restraint, as mandated by the U. S. Constitution that Pelosi has sworn to uphold? Advertisement As the presidential commissioners conceded in their report, “We submitted questions for use in the interrogations, but had no control over whether, when or how questions of particular interest would be asked. Nor were we allowed to talk to the interrogators so that we could better judge the credibility of the detainees and clarify ambiguities in the reporting.” In short, the basic narrative of the origins and conduct of the 9/11 attack that so fundamentally perverted American politics relied on cherry-picked information that the White House and its operative in the field chose to release to the commission. As a result, we the public still know nothing of certainty about the financing of the terrorist organization emanating from Saudi Arabia and the UAE or the logistical support supplied to the Taliban and al-Qaida by agencies of the government of Pakistan. What the public was offered was not an unvarnished look at the available evidence concerning the attack but rather a fear campaign justifying an undifferentiated and illogically constructed international war on terror. As Steve Elmendorf, chief of staff to Rep. Dick Gephardt, D-Mo., the Democratic leader following 9/11, put it: “You have to remember, in the 2002 period, the whole atmospherics, it was all about scaring people every day.” That fear-mongering drove a majority of Democrats to support the president in his invasion of Iraq, the one Arab nation where al-Qaida had been most brutally oppressed by its sworn enemy, Saddam Hussein, who had nothing to do with the 9/11 attack. The “key witnesses” affirmed that reality even after being subjected to torture, which would have proven deeply embarrassing to the Bush administration were it revealed in open court proceedings. By acquiescing to the cover-up of unpleasant truths in the treatment of prisoners, Pelosi contributed to the betrayal of the ideal of public accountability that is the bedrock of our system of governance, which Congress is charged with protecting. If Pelosi was against torture, then she should be able to prove it. Surely she will have written a protest that doesn’t have to be back dated. As far as I am concerned, Pelosi is one and the same with the right-wing torturers. I have no faith in her innocence whatsoever, but will accept facts.

The only interesting thing about this manufactured hullaballou is how the wrong wingers will serpentine around the glowing hot carbuncles of their own like Bush, Cheney, Gonzalez etc who really are the ones who created and approved and had carried out torture. Now that is a sight to see.
Obama too I will watch to see how he is not going to even investigate much less prosecute war criminals. Under the laws he too is guilty if he doesn’t do those things.

Absolutely no issue approaches the significance of the looming Health Care Issue floating around in the U.S. Congress.
If you are able to read the tea leaves and see the connections, it pertains to some $50 to $60 trillion of “toxic mortage assets” awaiting bailouts. That would clearly be the last nail in the coffin for us.
That is what the Repugs and Max Baucus’s dogs are struggling to get approved and defeat One-Payer insurance. One-Payer insurance would virtually eliminate the traditional Middle Men, whom they call “private business” or “main street.” Why protect the middle men? Protect AIG’s network of agents scattered around the globe? Hell no!
One-payer is the only way to save this nation. Connect the dots and follow the money.

American style undefined freedom with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with freedom and justice for all is freedom as a TROPE, freedom with the highest standard for the American aristocracy, the second highest standard for the toadies of the American middle class singularity and the lowest standard for the 70% majority common population of the United States, which are NOT represented in the Legislative, Executive or Judicial branches of U.S. Government, and are systemically denied a political party as an institutionally accepted means of control of the 70% majority common population of the United States, so that the 70% majority common population of the United States can be used as a collective group of self-charging batteries, that the combined 30% minority of the American aristocracy and the American middle class singularity can use as consumers to generate CAPITAL for the benefit of the 30% minority of the American aristocracy and middle class singularity of insufferable toadies.
While listening to NPR this morning I heard yahoo… (benjamin nettin)... talking about educating the Palestinians for PEACE, and I thought about the 70% majority common population of the United States that have been educated for FREEDOM, with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with freedom and justice for all, that has reduced the 70% majority common population of the United States to a collective of self-charging batteries to generate CAPITAL for the benefit of others without substantial benefit for themselves, other than minimum maintenance as a battery; surely the 70% majority common population can start to wake up and do better for themselves than being used by the minor dominant classes and cultures of the American aristocracy and middle class singularity toadies as self-charging batteries to generate CAPITAL that the 70% majority common population does not share in, that is for the benefit solely of the American aristocracy and their insufferable toadies of the American middle class singularity.

I am certainly no economist, but I do have a 401K, a stock portfolio, and a pension plan as well. My home continues to devalue and my health care costs are beginning to rise as well. Pensioners from my union are screaming about their rising costs as well. Further I do read the news and believe I am at least as well apprised of our economic situation as is the next guy.
I have no great hope that our government is going to do what almost every other govt in the industrialized world has done and give us cradle to grave health care. Not as long as we are a capitalist nation with a two party system in which both parties are ruled by the power of money.
The plan being debated in Congress, if true to what Obama stated during his campaign, leaves 25 million of us uninsured and is still a for-profit fiasco that will continue to provide inadequate care at exorbitant cost.
I agree that our lack of such care is bankrupting the nation almost as fast as are the financial scallywags who are stealing our treasury. Fifty percent of all bankruptcies are health care related. But urgent need comes out last when opposed by constant greed.
We will get some sort of ridiculous hash of legislation that helps noone but the insurance companies, the HMO’s and our legislators who will continue to bank those campaign checks and use their own free health care.
That is the way things will remain until we the people understand the system we endure is corrupt and in desperate need of alteration. Possibly that will be long after things have gotten much, much worse.

Getting back on track;
Pelosi just may be complicit in these crimes so far as not reporting on them. Secrecy or no, torture is a crime and it super-cedes any presidential decrees or Spook protocols. Unless the Constitution has been secretly suspended that is.
However this fixation on her instead of the ones who actually wrote the memos and used them to actually torture seems to be lost to those who are so narrowly righteous in the GOP. That is they simultaneously say it wasn’t torture an then it was torture sort of and then accuse Pelosi of not calling it torture then they didn’t. Such so-called analysis of torture i.e. enhanced interrogation methods, were done by Nazi-style jurists who warp the law to fit their own ends. [Torture had been clearly defined by the Geneva conventions and the Articles? Against Torture that the USA signed on to.] Remember that in any authoritarian dictatorship the laws are reconfigured to fit those who run and ruin it.

Perhaps you haven’t learned this “economic meltdown” is a collosal mess and what you hear and see today is the tip of the iceberg. I only wish you had more interested in putting these “issues” in quantiative terms. I have found news reporters and self-styled writers are typically very week on statistics and accounting, let alone international economics and banking. Apart from you feelings and viewpoints, please address the $60 trillion in “toxic mortgage assets” floating just below the surface that AIG, J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch are holding. The new health care program is being set up to use new bailouts to cover these trillions for the interational insurance companies and banksters. then the presses will generate the money and the hyper inflations will, eventually, kick in with a vengence.
That makes we state this plan in conress to block one-payer health care, that would stick them with the $60 million of bad bets they made. I find ordinary people have trouble grasping this, but it is very real, and it is very near. If they kill one-payer health care and continue with the samo samo, they scape of anything less and the nation goes bankrupt. USA bonds rating dropped from AAA to AA last week. Churning out trillions in currency will make the dollar worthess. Prices will spike. Nothing around comes anywhere nearly this crucial. This drafts everything else. Try to understand that this is not just another, one of many, priorities must be noted and existing Medicare makes the providers fatasically rich and represents the bulk of the national budget, every year. You can look it up. You can look back and you can project it ahead. There are reliable hard numbers for you to study, all the emotional talk doesn’t help us.

Health Care is a very important issue, certainly, but it is only one of several issues that determine whether our nation will continue to decline into third world status. They are all important issues and deserve airing and debating.
As to the “hairsplitting” about the duty of a soldier I believe accuracy and framing an issue correctly are important. For a long time the right has made much of the progressives supposed defamation of our troops and has scored points with middle America over this inaccurate portrayal of the left.
This subject, and every issue in fact. is deserving of accurate representation. I do not believe that incorrect assumptions can lead to correct solutions, do you?

samosamo, re your May 15, 10:51 —One way to reduce the BS overload is to stop watching TV. We’ve been without one for 22 years now and do not feel deprived because anything worthwhile is usually put on DVD. Though the newspapers are shrinking alarmingly, our family still gets a lot out of the NY Times, and commonly follow up on it through reading referenced books, archive and research library contents that are available to download, whitepapers, reports etc. and also look at other countries’ newspapers on the Net as well as Foreign Policy magazine, Arab Reform Bulletin, Carnegie enews, Honest Reporting—there are many ways to get what you’re looking far. But TV hasn’t been one of them since Ed Murrow’s last “Good night and good luck.” MacNeil-Lehrer and other PBS news sources are on the radio.
Oddly, the main topic of this thread has been buried under tons of superlong-posts that don’t have much to do with it. ardee and KDelphi have made some good points, but Inherit probaly is correct saying that the narrow Pelosi focus may be a red herring. We simply need to demand everything we need to know on the subject of who knew what when re torture, using the FoI Act and Cheney’s ironic use of that instrument to release classified info. A double irony: Jane Harman—recently taken to task for pushing AIPAC interesets—appears to be then only person on the intelligence committee who actually wrote demanding info regarding torture from the CIA.

......................
It is the duty of a soldier to disobey UNLAWFUL orders. Morality is a judgment call subject to personal belief. For example, some belief it immoral to terminate a pregnancy, others may think it immoral to take a life, even in battle, thus Quakers and Mennonites are excused from armed conflict for their belief in the latter.

Women Unite take on the Fight
To Win
Women out number men, and to that end their voices and votes should count for more in any kind of Democracy. But then a curious one could ask, “ Why not?”
Why should good sane sound hard workingwomen cower down to man’s brutal ways of taking care of business?
Many men from our creation have followed the Beast of mankind into wars, crimes of illicit passion robbing women of their homes, children, possessions and their rights to life in all ways. And the brute force that is used against women today, throughout the world brings about tears to my Gods eyes. WHY? I believe that from the very onset of the creation of mankind Gods ultimate plan was for man and woman to become one in the act of procreation then raising and nurturing of their children to populate the earth for the Glory of our Creator.
And now the Beast of mankind those who have the Need for Greed desires to rob again our women of all their rights to life in all ways and to set back the clock of humankind history by 3 to 4 thousand years. The Beast is few in number yet they perceive to own the entire world. They have no reverence for women, children and the sanctity of a home.
Their view of humankind is as servants—- in just one low class, remember when the pyramids were built in Egypt that is where these current Beast want to take again all humankind except the very few of them maybe 1 to 2 thousand who will be the rulers over all others. With the billions of servants having no voice no vote no rights to life in all ways and no bar of justice to protect against the Beast as they rule wrongly.
The Beast plan is by its inception flawed and the good in us will raise up to defeat the plan and them near term because near term all of them will stand trial for crimes against humankind and nature and the proof who is a party of these illicit actions is monumental.
Yet the need today is for Study because the fear that has been provoked in many has left some lifeless, listless and so full of depression the only hope is to get a clear vision of who the enemy real is and once done develop a core group plan for ridding them from our land.
The best near term Plan is Study. Once you see for yourself the hideous and devilish plan you will NOT need any more reinforcement to hard charge with your voices shouting out STOP THIS MADNESS. Once done the cowardly Beast of mankind will run and hide for they are few and we are many.
For study google David Rockefeller=neocon, blderberg, trilateral commission then study.
After that JOIN IN and work the work needed to bring a change for our Democracy that will once again empower all to have their voices heard and their votes counted.

Read today’s NYT Op-Ed for Frank Rich and Mo-Do.
This is all a red-herring to divert attention from the real culprits: The Bush administration and their comrades in Congress who ruled both houses during the years in question, when Pelosi was NOT Speaker. Even today, on Face the Nation right now, Cong. Peter King (R-L.I.,NY) is STILL defending the Bush/Cheney bullshit line—and accusing the ACLU of preferring “terrorists” to Americans.
The BEST thing to do is as Frank Rich suggests: For President Obama to simply open up what went under the 8 year long attempted coup. That way, when we see just how far the infection went, what Pelosi knew and when she knew it will be minor.
Meanwhile, this is playing into Re-thug hands and shifting focus from THEIR crimes while they trash the Speaker.
Even in defeat the Re-thugs are far, FAR better at dictating the direction and speed of the debate than Democrats EVER will be.

After doing your personal study you will come to the same conclusion that many have today—- that just a few of those that worship MONEY——want to rule the world—-and take away our rights to life in all acts of equity with justice as the rule of law.
The study is going to be time consuming——I suggest open a Page in word—- that you can use to copy and paste subject matter that you find most compelling—along with the Webb sites address so you can return for more consideration.

Speaking of the economy getting worse, here is an article from “Money & Markets” that shows that the downturn in the economy has only just begun as an even bigger Ponzi Scheme than Madoff made off with has been uncovered by the SEC:
“Money Market Mayhem Continues! by Nilus Mattive 05-12-09
Although Wall Street has been partying like it’s 1999 or 2007 or some other happy time, I recently saw yet another stark reminder that our recent financial crisis did in fact just happen … and that the dangers were real and long-lasting and still far from over.”
“No, I’m not talking about the fact that half our big banks still need more money. Or the fact that they’ll be issuing a bunch of new stock to try and raise that capital.”
“Instead, I’m talking about the fact that the SEC has formerly charged the father of the money market mutual fund industry with fraud.”
“It’s the latest turn in a fascinating story, and as I’m going to show you today, it proves that we are still just beginning to learn how unsafe — and unsavory — even some of the so-called safest investments have been throughout this crisis.”
“Let’s start from the beginning …” http://www.moneyandmarkets.com/money-market-mayhem-continues-33676
We haven’t heard anything about this at all on the news, and we should, but the news isn’t the news anymore. I hardly watch television anymore at all, except for the political shows and even those are all leaning heavily to the Right, but sooner or later this will have to come to light, because how could one keep an SEC lawsuit quiet.

Scanned your basic sitution and will look more carefully, later. My first reacton is what has been flitting in and out of my head for weeks, that is, the idea of the Musical Chairs.
Your situation at this stage depends so much on fool’s luck due to nature of our governing system. While it seems fair that nobody deserves a free ride from the government, I am convinced it is unethical and downright immoral to ourright juggle the formulas fleece the seniors who must retire from the frey and are expecting what they were always promised. If they government revoke COLA and, simultaneously, print trillions of currency to cover the bad bets by banksers and, now, the huge insurance companies, all retirees will be facing a virtual massive cut, via hyper inflation.
I hope you understand this basic economic principle and take any counter measure you can. For one thing, the Health Care Bill is being teed up to save the insurance aristocracy, first cousin to the global bankers. The insurance elite like AIG laid off the bets of hedge fund traitors like George Soros etc. They want their money and that is why you saw Bush turn it over to Paulsen to sort out.
If you want the exact nitty gritty, I have it. But all that another day.
Again, I see your situation as very, very typical. Millons and millions of cases, but the trouble is the damn timing! Bad luck, eh? We must get our chins up and manage a laugh, what else? I just wish I had paid closer attention while this economic meltdown was developing. Inattention and procrastination can be costly.
So many people left out without a chair when the music stopped. I grew up hearing about The Great Depression, studied the details of the Wall St. Crash of 1929. Should have known better. I have long know about orchastrated “bubbles” and Ponzi schemes. But somethings happen that people tend to disbelieve. We a living through something are bigger than the Wall St. Crash of 1929. There are people in high places who make Adoph Hitler and Bernie Madoff ($50 billion) look like juvenille delinquents. What we have here is The Crime of the Century. I do believe that if they are able beat down the public outcry for one-payer national insurance it is not only the seniors who will be crushed. It means an undefined bailout for the likes Marice “Hank” Greenberg, retired CEO of AIG, but will ensure the elite banksters and insurance giants will have permanate power and control.
The new insurance bailout disguised as the national Health Care bill will be the last nail in our coffins. If I were again young and strong, I would do anything to stop them. If that failed, I would immediate emmigrate with friends and family as my ancestors did long ago. We are very close to the brink. Only some partriotic insiders can save the day, I am afraid.
If the the truth is revealed, only then, will the heads roll. Still, stiff upper lip and all that. They can do no more than makes us suffer before they kill us. They are very accustomed that sort of thing, if you think about.
Accept reality and do what you can.

Call and send e-mails is all I am able to do, and I do, every which way I can.
I am disabled and finally on Medicare, and supposedly will have 100% of my health care paid when I need to use it, but not without personal cost; it will costs me $212.90 each month from my small retirement check for Medicare and Medicare’s private insurance coverage: I have chosen Medicare Part A and Part B with Medicare Supplemental Part D and Medicare Supplemental Part F.
Medicare Part A is FREE Hospital Room and Board ONLY; Medicare Part B is NOT free, Part B costs $96.40/mo. and pays 80% of doctors’ bills and medical services, Medco’s Supplemental Plan D costs $36.50/mo.for mail order generic medicine for prescriptions that the doctor orders at $6/subscription, and Mutual of Omaha’s Supplemental Plan F costs $80/mo. to cover the difference that Medicare won’t pay on doctors’ bills and services hopefully to equal 100% of the bills; so, although uncertain, it appears my medical care will be completely covered, but takes away a lot out of my fixed income each month, which I cannot afford, but in this capitalist society must afford to keep myself from total medical bill bankruptcy.
This is my 1st year to be on Medicare and my yearly personal cost for health care insurance coverage, not including dental, which I don’t have, will be $2,554.80 a year, which doesn’t seem like much to big bailout bankers, but it is a whole heck of a lot of money coming out of my meager fixed income.
I am of the opinion the United States should have FREE Dental and Medical HEALTH CARE for ALL CITIZENS, like Canada, England, France and Cuba does; it doesn’t seem too much to ask as it works well in those countries. Dental and medical care should be a right for all citizens of the United States.

Zealots are found in the stands at high school football games and, long ago, when the crowds screamed for sparing the gladiator and awaited whether Nero would give the thumbs up or thumbs down. The fruits of igniting mass hysteria. No different than a pack of excited baboons fighting over food.
For once, ignore the red herrings and propaganda spewing from mainstream media, short of an invastion from space aliens in coming weeks, nothing comes close the importance of this health care bill in the U.S. Congress. Nobody is more important to scrutinize today than Max Bachus and the stealth Insurance Industry.
This collosal insurance bill can open the door to re-establish AIG, cover the trillions run up by those who bet on “toxic mortage” certificates and ensure the accelerated demise of the dollar and certain hyper inflation—we are, indeed, poised on the peripace of hyper inflation just as happen in pre-war Nazi Germany.

WHAT IS THE TRUE TEST
WHO IS FREE
WHO IS HELD IN THEIR OWN PRISONS OF DESPAIR?
It is unto all humankind to live with each other.
The few that want to retreat and live inside of themselves are to be pitied. How ghastly can some become when in a trance like state trying to mediate toward a new one?
The roads to personal freedom and living are a full life of giving back to others.
And that can only come about by getting in and staying in the game of life.
All who runs to possess sound sane sanguine and stridently said kind and gracious words and good moral actions in civility will have a life full of freedoms.
Internal introspection that can sometimes be an escape once discounted as not needed does bring about a new thrill for ones own family friends and kin, allowing all to chime right in to all acts needed for freedom to be shared.
Once, Situation Ethics aspired to and learned, can make each moment the clock ticks, a new driving force in each of us, to do the rights in life and shun the wrongs. Then again to do so, one must commit to a life of learning. Subsequently at each step of the learning experience one will gain more personal insight to avoiding the many pitfalls of having a Selective Memory.
For once a person finds themselves in a retreat from the present to their selective memory from the past for needed data to know how to respond, the moment of bliss that could have been, is then long gone.
And that same sequence of thought does occur to those who have a need to live in a futurist state that they have created and then the same becomes true. They look out far beyond where that moment in time is and assess what they would do in the future.
Thus they again some miss that moment of bliss that they could have had, and shared it with another, if only along through life they had learned to live with their conscience using Situation Ethics.
For one thing that most people like to see out of others is spontaneity. Meaning a quick grin- a crisp hello, solid handshake, compliments that burst like a flower unexpectedly, meant for one to show outwardly that they rejoice in life for that moment and that moment alone.
Leaving nothing UN said no need left UN fixed and living that moment, as that was all there would ever be.

It will always be “us” vs. “them.” Just as in the ancient allegorical tale of rebellious angels being tossed out of heaven.
Know it, believe it, live it. Let us laugh, not cry, about this fate. Choice? Free choice? If that is all there is, well, strike up the band and let’s keep dancing!

Jeremy Scahill, Counterpiunch:
But contrary to Pelosi’s assertion, The Washington Post reported that Pelosi and other Democrats were “given a virtual tour of the CIA’s overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk:”
Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.
“The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough,” said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.
[...]
“Among those being briefed, there was a pretty full understanding of what the CIA was doing,” said [Porter] Goss, who chaired the House intelligence committee from 1997 to 2004 and then served as CIA director from 2004 to 2006. “And the reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement.”
Only a complete and independent investigation by a special prosecutor could get to the bottom of all of this with any credibility. In his Op-ed, Hoekstra wrote:
Any investigation must include this information as part of a review of those in Congress and the Bush administration who reviewed and supported this program. To get a complete picture of the enhanced interrogation program, a fair investigation will also require that the Obama administration release the memos requested by former Vice President Dick Cheney on the successes of this program.
While one must take anything Representative Hoekstra and his belligerent, torture-loving colleagues say with a grain of salt (to put it mildly), he has a point—even if he is making it in that Dick Cheney kind of way. All of the documents relating to this torture program should be released and the role of everyone involved should be brought out into the light of day to determine who is responsible for every aspect of these heinous crimes from top to bottom.

Martha, please try and understand the whole picture here…You are making an assumption that may very well be based upon faulty intel; that Pelosi was actually briefed upon torture used in interrogation. Bob Graham, Diane Feinstein and Jay Rockefeller, all former members of that committee, state firmly that the briefings were in the most generalised forms, were never specific about techniques and that this entire nonissue is a distraction by the right wing to lead the public away from the desire to see investigations commence…Why do you so easily allow yourself to be led in the fashion?

You are suggesting that it is cover for Pelosi because she possibly wasn’t briefed about the content that the briefing was about? Max Baucus and all the Reps want to protect their friends in the drug, hospital, ama and insurance rackets. Both parties are deep into these corps. Baucus rakes in millions from them, almost exclusively. A one-payer system is better than anything they plan.
Hell, late today the news is that Obama mistated the lobbyists acceptance of a $2 billion cut. What will Obama say to that? Actually, it doesn’t matter. They will do as they please, no matter what.
The same thing is going down with the new credit card rules and regulation. Oopps, they misspoke, didn’t mean it.
Isn’t it obvious that a President is essentially powerliss? But with all its blemishes and warts, that bill really needs to become a one-payer plan because the insurance pigs will be hard put to gooble like they have for more than a decade.
One-payer? Well, it is a solution that can always be corrected. The insurance lobbyists’ are a well defined evil. All to often some people want someone to shame then blame when things go wrong not right. Thus is the case for most civilized so-called life today. But could that kind of mindset be civilized. I THINK NOT.
Name just one of the many civilizations that have come about——where a high potentate, king or president—- the biggest BIG SHOT in charge led the people to a civil existence. STILL WAITING.
And we in America today are still trying to emulate the old forlorn and mostly forsaken Roman Empire. They had a SENATE composed of the BIG BARONS that had the great wealth of the nation bestowed on them———to watch over the BIG SHOTS, how can that be done? And likewise we still have the same twisted, convoluted ideas of political rule today. IS——WE JUST DUMB or WOULD WE RATHER have A SOMEONE else to shame and blame?
If so are we really civil? Civil means communal and that for sure we are not. Are we a tribe that is banded together by the RULE OF LAW? I THINK NOT. Our rule of law in America since our birth has been the crooked and perverse lawyer-ing of the SEE SAW YAW of the LAW.
Bottom line: When a people forsakes the principles in words and deeds done to rule themselves——-the tyrannical will take over and promise they will do that job for them. Then just one more repeat of HISTORY comes upon them. That is a pretty dim view [but historically correct] of how civilizations come and go and all are made to suffer in the end by their inactions to rule themselves and thus all turn loose then lose their RIGHTS to LIFE.

So that is where we all are today——“Hey we got is a good idea how to take America back——but it is down yonder in a mix of confusion no one in charge all running hither and thither and some out of steam but it is tied up real good we think down yonder in the poke.

MATH COURSE FOR THOSE THAT FLUNKED
GM and Chrysler is going to do some bad things may already have but the good thing is that 90,000 to 125,000 good folks will be right with us every step of the way.
How about AARP how many will they come to the table——got a clue—-I do—-try 5 to 6 million. Do the math.
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Consumers Union how many could they bring to the table—-got a clue—-I do—- 3 to 4 million. Do the math.
We are many they are few.
Long haul truckers how many of them would kick right in—-got a clue—-I do—-1.5 million .Do the math
So what is our set back from just running dead over our big center when 4th and 1 don’t know. Maybe some body should tell me.

Baker how do you know that? Privilege brings on wealth—-wealth brings about waste—waste lets low the gates of protection. Always has and always will. Genius comes about from and by folks who work—-the privileged do not do that. So they are dumb but are in seemed control.
One piece that I compiled today was our Great American Ship called Freedom is full of pirates and we must push them over board. And the singsong, chitchat and nonsense that is heard on the press and sometimes here on TRUTHDIG must change to focus on just that.
Once done that will send a bloodcurdling chill down their yellow backs. And all it takes is some hard muscle on our bones. And that is just around the corner but we must stay put –not fear—hard charge—-like it is a tied game—-4 and 1 on the goal line with 2 seconds on the clock.
You have Lived in the trenches all your life and so have I, and many other millions are out there that have done the same. When throwing hand grenades at me I pick up and throw them back.
We have the Star Power and all else to get this done in record time but we must be about doing it NOW.

I read I agree.
I have comments about where I believe we are by the signs that are being seen in acts of Providence.
What must come about and soon is a meeting of the minds that can agree on the HOW TOO. And discus all the known and un-known at this time that might be a fly in the ointment or be the end of the rainbow full of a pot of gold. WHO KNOWS? Not me.
All in our crowd is speaking from Providence as the truth. Yet in the end few if any have an idea how to GET IT ON.
I believe far to many of us are still in a state of continued shock. Hell for 30 years for me and some of the younger just 10 or 20.
Until we have a real POW WOW and get a feel for all others knowledge then we are shooting with a crooked stick.
IE: who has the number and names of those in Congress that would support such a move? The same in the Senate, the same in the retired Generals and Majors that would aid in all ways. We move smart quick take just one by surprise lock him/her/it up like you said they would all duck tail and run. And we can do that legally for we do have the power to do so at this time. But that would take good legal advice smart lawyers that need us—- that would work for the delight of saving our nation like the rest of us.
Shut down the Internet I think is a HOAX. Kind of like the swine flu—-or buying duct tape to put on our houses. It is all just a fear factor.
Back to the bigger deal is the need for a POW WOW. You are smarter than me and more connected so just take that on you to do it list.
Some of our Billionaires are not of the club. Many good folks live in Beverly Hills. I am not rich but if I have to hitch hike to get there I will in record time.
So the problem is not as complex as most think it is. Just one or two locked away and the rest will fly away in a heartbeat. The Sociopath fears loosing control more than anything other. And behind bars is a good loss of control.

WHEN
WOMEN manage the Household
WOMEN manage the Democracy 1-2
By Dwight Baker
May 15, 2009
To bring the microscope down real close to our American Society, our focus is to bring awareness to our good and morally sound females ages 25 to 45. Those many that has maintained and stayed in mainstream of current events and who have families’ friends and kin to make a way to co-exist.
Therefore it is in that group of empowered women that manage the lifestyles and finances in our Democracy that we need to become a contributing member of the WTPA.
The intake process of We the People Advocates has three basic entrance levels.
Dwight Baker 5/15/09 Copyright
FIRST THRUST of the plan is to publish on the Internet. With hopes reach those who would JOIN IN our Grass Roots actions needed to attract people to work in the actions needed to give us the power in people and contributions to go forward. That grass roots group of folks we have named the TRUSTED WATCHERS ON THE WALL Directors and Donors Or TWTW. To enlist as a member and contributor the charge for a Life Time Fully Vested Voice heard and Voting member would be from [free to $25 per month] pursuant to the rules in the in-take process. This group is expected to represent 95% of our financial and grass roots political persuading strength that is needed to birth the concept that it can show it value to all others in the or Democratic Republic. And it is unto that group that all our appeal is being designed. Those millions moms, dads, plumbers, tile layers, construction workers, longshoremen, nurses, auto mechanics, truckers, union workers all of those good to the core American people that we adore and want to make their lives more abundant and blessed as being an American empowered citizen. The TWTW has many expanded enrollment positions that can greatly increase the member’s intelligence and job preparedness as they take on different systems of the organizations functions. Therefore we have predicted that our paid staff in the groups, districts and regions will exceed 25,000 jobs with another 25,000 on as volunteers.

WHEN
WOMEN manage the Household
WOMEN manage the Democracy 2-2
The SECOND THRUST of the plan is to reach out to those who could assist with the primary funding of the concept we have named those our BRIGHT STAR Founding Financial Advisors Directors and Donors such as Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Foundations, Think Tanks, Charities, AARP, Consumers Union, Labor Unions, School Teachers Unions, ETC. $1,000——$5,000———$10,000——-$100,000——————$ MILLIONS. In the form of donations and grants. Beyond the donations and grants is the fact that WE NEED YOU. We cannot and will not be successful in this concept without the many that have all to offer in all of us doing this job. There are countless thousands that have the skills, education and right mind of directions to lead our people and country out of this delusional and convoluted time that we all live. Those few mentioned we perceive to be the best of the best but they are just a few, many more of our comrades are out in America WHO WE NEED to step forward and help us all get the change in our Democracy that is long overdue.
The THIRD THRUST of the plan we have and remain to petition and plea with many in the public lime light now—- in all forms of media—- that have the goals of saving our rich heritage as we do——to come on board to be a contributor to the cause as they have proven to be——to take our near and long term goals to completion. We have named that group our Founding STAR POWERS IN ACTION our Directors in Media. The list of those to contact that have proven their will to survive in these past turbulent times and that recognizes the synergy in what are concept can do will make sense to them and they will enlist JOIN IN. That number of folks that met those objectives is long varied, wide and deep with intellect, personality, name recognition therefore we need to reach out best as we can for all to help to give freely to get the ball rolling——for the timing is right in our generation—- and all is in place to get that done in near record breaking time. Some of those many prospective Founding STAR POWERS IN ACTION our Directors in Media and donors/ actors may see the need to combine their present efforts with the WTPA by bringing there hard ware and/or software and some people to aid in the promulgation of the mission to our Office complex in Washington DC that will be the home of our group of Constitutional Lawyers and legal specialist, staff, media folks. And in that cooperative group effort all will begin bringing in the will of the People then making the lawful matters published that is needed for the People in America to convey to our Politicians to the redress of laws and edicts and the changes needed NOW. And from that same group of folks plans will be made to broadcast the real NEWS not views on CSPAN nightly.

FRIDAY 437 PM/CST DFW/USA
REF: DWIGHTBAKER
Your mention of “townhall meetings” might, indeed, be a new meaning at this stage of our enormous tribulation in America. I am considering what new tactics might make it successful. It would not work by simply scheduling meetings at the usual city halls and county commission buildings throughout the nation. That actually excludes too many people.
In the black communities, the black churches have been far more effective. Other creeds cannot organize that way. It will require more thought. I suspect it must done through secular networking, or else, there is a built-in clash.
The web is very important but “they” will soon enough find some means to diminish or completely eliminate this good vehicle. I won’t mention all the parallel, historical examples of counter measures.
For one thing, there needs to be a quick solution that will maintain some effective network should a counter measure against web communications be suddenly compromised as in certain other countries.
Everything from traditional snail mail, email and smoke signals must be put on the table. But do not pull the trigger until you see the whites of their eyes. You are so right to remind us that we are many and they are few, but ever so wealth and wield such power.
I remind you with full emphasis, the most important survival strategy and tactics “they” employ is budgeting and investing billions to control mass communication. You cannot underestimate how vital this is to those few with so much wealth and power.
It is the achilles heal of the unscrupulus wealthy elite. When The People unite with the hue and cry for justice and equality, these “aristocrats” will run for their lives. They must prevent communications and unity at all costs.
The decrupting of their propaganda is your crucial function, and mine, and everyone who is able tell their children, their elderly relatives, those who are not able or are just unaware. There are still millions of patriotic Americans who simply find it impossible to believe the truth of what is happening before their eyes. They just cannot believe AIG, Goldman Sachs and the “club” could be so daring and bold. It remains unthinkable to millions.
“Who would dare do such collosal crimes,” millions of decent, loyal, God-fearing citizens think. Well, you know, and millions of We the People, have no doubt that this Bubble was no accident, nor was the one in 1929. A lot of farms and real estate change hands in 1929 and shortly thereafter, as is being repeated this very moment. This “club” gets you coming and going.
Hell, their idea of the perfect business is owning the water supply and setting prices for every cup. Wasn’t that once a problem in Los Angeles? Wasn’t there a man named Mulholland (sp?) who tried that?
No accidents, just a relentless quest for for wealth, thus, increasing power, pride and glory.
As used in the punchline of many jokes, “It feels good to be king!” Yes, I bet it does.

Lulled into a Deep and Foreboding Sleep
May 15, 2009
The few in numbers but much in money and seemed power have with intent lulled many to sleep.
But not us, we have kept an open mind, with many more questions that idle talk. We the many have thought of ways, taking our county back, seizing our vested powers in our Constitution the Rule of Law to once again as planned many years ago, to have our voices heard and our votes counted.
We are the many, not the few, we love our families friends and kin, we work the work of keeping all inbounds and in-between the fence rows we do what is right and shun the wrong—-we are Americans.
At this time our Great America Ship called Freedom is under attack by pirates we must fight back. Those tyrannical few who have wage the battles against our solvency and sovereignty must be thrown overboard.
Good things that have been done by man have been simple not complex. On this day we must get back to simple things.
Town hall meetings must be restored with the use of our great Internet so that each one will have their voices heard and their votes counted. We all know that is democracy.
The lurid derogatory press has tried their best to bring fear each day on us. With just one smoke screen after another. So my Meet the Press comes when I chat with Jane, Jack, and Joe at the grocery store.
My Dad was a simple man, he said, “Son when a person lies just once they will do it again”
The term used to describe the American consumer has been BUYER BEWARE.
Glad to see all of us doing just that turning off the TV.
Those full of fear from the Bush Bunch Years listen to some Patriots and get their zeal hold high the Laws in our Constitution. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/621.html
The WTPA Plan to begin again Town Hall meetings keeping it simple.
We The People Advocates WTPA is providing the only HOPE in saving our Great American Ship called Freedom. So JOIN IN and ENLIST TODAY to serve with your VOICES being heard and your VOTES being counted and moved along to our lobby group in Washington DC to power push the peoples needs, wants and wishes in our cities, states and Federal Government for all Americans to have the rights to life in all ways in equity adjudicated by the Bar of Justice.

1. in history, there are patterns, always and an indicator.
2. bush/cia never denied “torture.” the public hue and cry was to beat the truth out of the capture rebels. only pelosi has denied knowing nothing, absolutely nothing, like sgt. schultze. (Hogans heros).
3. Why would anybody believe either of those involved in the corrupt tyranny of the so-called “two-party system.” Today, I am more attuned with the old saw, “neither a borrower or lender, be.” Likewise, neither a Democrook or a Repugnant, be. It’s the system, stupid.
4. As for being born at night or day, you can only trust what they told you. For instance, all my family tells me I was born on the 26th, they are adamant on the fact, but the state records show the 27th? I try to always take the “truth” with a grain of salt.

Like most other people, the sight on TV was both shocking and unbelievable. Something about it just didn’t look right.
Your link should be spread around as much as possible. Even the details of the financing behind the Twin Towers suggest fraud. You point to real examples but they are atypical of the subject under discussion. At Neurenberg, the focus was understandaby on high generals. Commonsense would direct anybody but the worst fools that everybody down in the ranks were, indeed, following orders. But some people, some bitter and hateful people never forget and demand their own notion of “measure for measure,” a pound of flesh.
Today the BBC reported that 92-year-old Ivan Denyonvitch had arrived on his stretcher for another trial. He is the alleged death camp guard that Zionists have hounded for decades, even though the records indicate something different. Eventhough he was found not guilty in Israel and return to the USA. Zionists attorneys, like Dershowitz, have hounded him, he has not been found guilty. He is a dying man, records are murky, but the relentless hatred lives on. The cry for revenge and institualized hate is cultivated from generation to generation with the cry of “never again.” It is not rational. Only the wildest Muslim terrorists screaming “Jihad” compares to this sort of thing. It smacks of japanese kamakazees, suicide bombers and the most zealot of extreme Zionism.
Americans are very slow to comprehend such thinking and behavior. But they are waking up. Once the “sleeping giant” rises to its feet, there will be hell to pay.

No nomcom or grunt can be charged if they were following their orders.
........................................
Errr. no Foggy, you really gotta read more:
In fact, under Article 90, during times of war, a military member who willfully disobeys a superior commissioned officer can be sentenced to death.
Seems like pretty good motivation to obey any order you’re given, right? Nope. These articles require the obedience of LAWFUL orders. An order which is unlawful not only does not need to be obeyed, but obeying such an order can result in criminal prosecution of the one who obeys it. Military courts have long held that military members are accountable for their actions even while following orders—if the order was illegal.
“I was only following orders,” has been unsuccessfully used as a legal defense in hundreds of cases (probably most notably by Nazi leaders at the Nuremberg tribunals following World War II). The defense didn’t work for them, nor has it worked in hundreds of cases since.
The first recorded case of a United States Military officer using the “I was only following orders” defense dates back to 1799. During the War with France, Congress passed a law making it permissible to seize ships bound to any French Port. However, when President John Adams wrote the order to authorize the U.S. Navy to do so, he wrote that Navy ships were authorized to seize any vessel bound for a French port, or traveling from a French port. Pursuant to the President’s instructions, a U.S. Navy captain seized a Danish Ship (the Flying Fish), which was en route from a French Port. The owners of the ship sued the Navy captain in U.S. maritime court for trespass. They won, and the United States Supreme Court upheld the decision. The U.S. Supreme Court held that Navy commanders “act at their own peril” when obeying presidential orders when such orders are illegal.
The Vietnam War presented the United States military courts with more cases of the “I was only following orders” defense than any previous conflict. The decisions during these cases reaffirmed that following manifestly illegal orders is not a viable defense from criminal prosecution. In United States v. Keenan, the accused (Keenan) was found guilty of murder after he obeyed in order to shoot and kill an elderly Vietnamese citizen. The Court of Military Appeals held that “the justification for acts done pursuant to orders does not exist if the order was of such a nature that a man of ordinary sense and understanding would know it to be illegal.” (Interestingly, the soldier who gave Keenan the order, Corporal Luczko, was acquitted by reason of insanity).

School yard bullies graduate into the big time when they gain a position of power in the workplace. A sadistic boss can make the lives of his employees miserable by constantly threatening to fire them. But unfortunately some bullies get absolute power when given the job of torturing prisoners of war. Their first job is to make sure their victims are well fed and kept healthy. This gives them the opportunity to interrogate them endlessly. Confessions of guilt do not end the torture. The sadist stays with his victim until there is no resistance. A broken prisoner is of no use to the grown up school yard bully

Everyone in the armed services. Everyone. Is training on the universal code of conduct and the convention. Torture is clearly laid out and the actions that teh legal memos laid out and much less is well known to be torture. Please ref to the Red Cross’ report on torture on US captives.
Also, everyone of the Armed Services IG said that what was been asked is torture.
And I understand that over 400 people have been convicted of abuse by the services.
IT IS NOT that people do no know what torture is. They did and do.
Now it is up to the rule of law to handle EVERYONE that was involved. The King of Jordan indicated tha tif the US does not do something bad things could happen.

LOGIC:
1. IF WMDs were not found why did we linger?
2. Bin Laden was never the primary objective.
3. Why do so many millions suspect 9-11 was set up?
4. Who cannot see that the MIC is the nation’s primary profit center?
5. Who cannot see the vital role that banking and arms makers is the core of what this nation has become, just as Dwight Eisenhower warned!
6. Who cannot see that our militant leaders only wave the flag, praise the troops they routinely kill and maim, indirectly, and work to preserve their core industry, their glorious Military Industrial Complex.
7. The Military Industrial Complex come wrapped in the flag, hold up the cross and the star of david etc., constantly create new enemies of the people and rely on the Mainstream “News” Media to lay down cover fire and smokescreens.
OMG, the congress just approved $95 billion for another vague slush fund for more f’ing war activities in either Paki or Iraq, or anything else they choose. The pass bills like this to spend huge sum on any damn thing they want. They approved a blank check for anything they want, anything! That is another $95 billion!
They now return back to the hair-splitting distraction of the dangers of water-boarding OMG!
It appears, most ordinary citizens just listen to the mainstream media and just cannot see the forest for those damn trees.

No nomcom or grunt can be charged if they were following their orders.
The prime example of this during Nam was the conviction of Lt. Calley. It was a stinking deal. Always, the Pentagon will strive to lay blame on the lowest man on the totem pole as the public will allow. In the case of Lt. Calley, the blame extended to the highest level. Lt. Calley took the hit but was paid to do so.
It is a long standing policy that should be eradicated. The philosophical argument for sacrificing someone lower, is an aristocratic rationale without moral basis. Just clear corruption by those in power.

All of this fits in with the new procedure that the higher ups are never accountable for their underlings ‘crimes’.
Seems to me that in earlier years if a colonel or higher made a decision that costs lives or harm noncombatants, they would be court marshalled, but now they are free to order crime and not worry about answering for them, just pass is down to some private and there you go, what’s next?
Eternal vigilance. All the distractions thrown at us have decreased our attention span, increased our ‘attention deficit disorders’ and shut down that eternal vigilance that used to keep those in high positions honest, but it isn’t an honest world anymore, is it?

In the distance drums are beating for our demise. Many hear them many do not. Each day those drums beat gets louder and closer. The call has gone out BEWARE take HEED Stand up Shout out Stop the Madness Mr. and MS politician, yet few have heard it and many others have called it one more conspiracy theory [a term started by Dick Cheney called a talking point]. Most of us know why Cheney needed to cause some smoke conspiracy theories because behind the scenes he had many fires a blazing. To cheat rob lie steal and kill our Great American Ship called Freedom.
So for the past several days smoke has been billowing out all around clouds of it has been seen in the stratosphere and confusion to the max drawing our attention away from the fires a blazing. Now we can all see just one of the many reasons the smoke clouds were made by our inside the belt way political foes.
The Credit Cardholder’s Bill of Rights was voted down in the Senate. While the chambers were filled with the high paid lobbyist form the big banks that we are bailing out and many others supporting the rights for big business to cheat lie rob and try to kill the American Populous with outrageous un-regulated lending practices. We simply had NO ONE there for us. Regardless of what you think your Senator should have done he or she did not in most cases for the vote was NO.
So now we know—-so we call all get mad as hell and debate the many reasons who did what and why and complain bitch moan and groan go out side kick the dog throw a fit and more but what is done is done and again on our watch. But we had NO ONE on our watch. Thus there is the rub. The burr under all our saddles that makes riding the range of life most unbearable. Why just figure it out for you self no need to explain it is as evident as having egg on your face.
Thus why were we drawn away from the need to Stand up Shout out Stop the Madness Mr. and Ms inside the belt way Politician?
We simply did not have enough WATCHMEN on the WALLS to put out the warnings.
Now, many of us have a fire burning in us to save our Great American Ship called Freedom that will not be put out——but others need to have that same fire ignited in them. And that is our jobs to do just that. We the few maybe 3 to 5 million strong must champ to the goal needed to start our own lobby in Washington DC to write our laws, put all on notice we will be taking names and publishing the real NEWS not VIEWS and in doing will change the face of our Democracy.
Life in our Rich and Abundant America today is in the troughs of being changed. We have been played the fool for a long time many generations have fallen into the same trap, great grandfathers, grandfathers, fathers, sons and then it all starts over again.
The hideous tyrants of old the Bilderbergs have laid hold of the plan to do us in. We must put a halt to their plans. And we can.
The PLAN—- We The People Advocates WTPA are providing the only HOPE in saving our great nation. So JOIN IN and ENLIST to serve with your VOICES being heard and your VOTES being counted and moved along to our lobby group in Washington DC to power push the peoples needs, wants and wishes in our cities, states and Federal Governments for all Americans to have the rights to life in all ways in equity adjudicated by the Bar of Justice. WHO MUST BE WATCHING? 2-6WE THE PEOPLE LOST————-THE BILDERBERGS WON AGAIN JUST AS PLANNEDWashington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Chair of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC), and Senator Charles E. Schumer, Vice Chairman of the JEC, released a report showing unfair credit card practices are sending American families further into debt and undermining the economic recovery. The report, “Vicious Cycle: How Unfair Credit Card Company Practices Are Squeezing Consumers and Undermining the Recovery,” outlines how the economic downturn and financial crisis have accelerated the adverse impacts of these practices on consumers, small businesses and our economy as a whole.
Report thisBy DWIGHTBAKER, May 14 at 8:02 am #
WHO MUST BE WATCHING? 3-6Chair Maloney: “The evidence is clear, consumers need protection from the unfair, deceptive and anticompetitive credit card companies’ practices. As families struggle to make ends meet, these unchecked practices reduce the amount of money that families have to spend on new purchases because they are servicing their old debt. This report shows why the Credit Cardholder’s Bill of Rights is essential to assisting our economic recovery. I proudly look forward to the day President Obama signs my bill into law.”Vice Chairman Schumer: “This latest JEC report is further proof of why we must pass the credit card legislation that is before the Senate this week. Credit card issuers cannot be allowed to continue to pay for their own poor business practices on the backs of average American families. In this record-low interest rate environment, it is indefensible for card issuers to be charging struggling American families record-high interest rates, and their attempts to do so explain why so many people are so angry with credit card companies. Families already straining to make ends meet should not suddenly be required to fork over more of their hard-earned money to credit card issuers because of unexplained rate increases and questionable fees.”Highlights from the “Vicious Cycle” Report:· As credit cardholders and small businesses struggle in the economic downturn, significant increases in credit card interest rates have the same impact as price increases, further depressing demand for goods and services (and economic recovery). The average interest rate on credit cards went up a full percentage point from the fourth quarter of 2008 to February 2009, even though the Federal Reserve’s targeted federal funds rate – the cost of money for the banks – was lowered to between 0 and .25 percent on December 16, 2008.· Like subprime mortgage lenders, credit card issuers have been seeking to maximize their profits by lending to those who are financially vulnerable and then spreading the risks by selling off securities based on credit card receivables. But as charge-off rates increase and the supply of credit falls because of the financial crisis, credit card companies have increasingly made up losses by raising interest rates to all borrowers, effectively charging creditworthy borrowers to make up for growing deficits.· Creditworthy borrowers cannot simply switch to a new card when confronted with abusive practices because the unfair, deceptive, and anticompetitive practices identified in the legislation increase costs to card users of searching for and switching to a new card. These practices, which are nearly universal in the credit card industry, trap cardholders in a cycle of debt.· A growing share of consumers’ disposable income, which largely determines consumer spending, is being diverted to service credit card debt rather than to help economic recovery. As of March 2009, U.S. revolving consumer debt (almost entirely credit card debt) was about $950 Billion. In the fourth quarter of 2008, 13.9 percent of consumer disposable income went to service this debt.· As household wealth has declined in the downturn; more American families are facing financial distress due to high debt burdens. In 2007, before the recession began, 14.7 percent of U.S. families had debt exceeding 40 percent of their income.· Personal bankruptcy rates were up almost 30 percent in 2008. Penalty interest rates, which raise interest rates on balances by 15 percent or more, can trigger bankruptcy on financially constrained families.

While not in the same league as BushCo, imo Pelosi IS an accomplice to torture and war crimes, in her abdication of her oath of office to protect and defend the laws of the land. She’s No. 3 in the entire gov’t. If she sees something suspicious or illegal, it is her responsibility to call attention to it, or at the very least, refuse to participate. She did neither one, going along for the whole ride, which continues to this day.
