Kucinich Tilts at ImpeachmentPosted on Jun 11, 2008By Marie Cocco WASHINGTON—It is not politically correct to offer a good word about Dennis Kucinich, the elfish, left-leaning congressman from Ohio who regularly runs for president only to drop his quixotic campaigns for the White House so that he might continue representing his working-class district near Cleveland. Kucinich can be an annoying gnat. He buzzes around the Democratic cloakroom with ideas his party leaders may well agree with in substance—promoting a single-payer system such as Medicare to deliver universal health insurance, for instance—but which they refuse to embrace because they believe them to be too politically risky. Kucinich’s latest gambit is his introduction of articles of impeachment against President Bush—35 of them, to be exact—laid out in a five-hour floor speech that was probably heard by no one save the C-SPAN technicians and perhaps a few hundred viewers at home. The charges have no chance of being taken seriously in Congress, where Democratic leaders will dispose of them quickly in a parliamentary move. There is no benefit in throwing the country onto the pyre of partisan flames with Bush set to go quietly away to Crawford in just seven more months, they reason. And this is certainly sensible. Nonetheless, you cannot find a more complete and compelling indictment of the Bush administration than Kucinich has presented in his articles. They range from the exceedingly obvious, such as those detailed in his Article III: “Misleading the American people and members of Congress to believe Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, so as to manufacture a false case for war.” To the specious, presented in Article XII: “Initiating a war against Iraq for control of that nation’s natural resources.” Kucinich gives us a bleak road map through seven years of deceptions and misjudgments, incompetence and malevolence. There are clear constitutional violations—Article XVII, for example, spells out “Illegal detention: Detaining indefinitely and without charge persons both U.S. citizens and foreign captives.” Then there are the torture and abuse of detainees and the use of secret “black sites” abroad; no one really knows what happened to suspected terrorists once they were sent there. Advertisement The pathologies that Kucinich recounts extend to the administration’s persistent myth-making. There is the matter of misrepresenting the death of former football star Pat Tillman, in which a cover-up was launched to hide the truth that Tillman did not meet a heroic end but was killed by friendly fire. There is the Jessica Lynch fairy tale, in which the former Army private was said to have been brutalized and then saved in a dramatic rescue, a story that also was fabricated. Besides Iraq, the war on terror and the warrantless wiretapping of American citizens, Kucinich lays out many other stunning abuses, everything from the effort to keep a Medicare actuary from relaying to Congress accurate cost estimates about a new drug benefit, to the U.S. attorney scandal in which top prosecutors were pushed out of their jobs for their apparent refusal to bring political prosecutions that would please Republicans. Kucinich does not rant, but instead relies almost exclusively on the government’s own documentation of wrongdoing—accounts from inspectors general, congressional testimony, memos that surfaced or were subpoenaed. Some of Kucinich’s charges truly outline high crimes; others just a blatant disregard for the public. And, politically speaking, they are at this point in time irrelevant. But if you really want to know “what happened” in the Bush era, take a pass on buying former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s new book. Read Kucinich’s articles of impeachment in the Congressional Record—for free—instead. Elsewhere: . CommentsAre you a Truthdig member yet? Login now, or register with Truthdig. Add Your Comment

TALIBAN UPDATE!
Now that the Taliban is “gone” they’ve sure been busy in the news! Here’s a headline from today’s AOL home page (must’ve been another misprint):

Ah Brusays, you’ve outdone yourself with this excellent post, (#163774). I thoroughly appreciated it. Not only did I find it very entertaining, but informative as well.
I was unaware of the Khadafi’s turn against al-Qaeda, though presumably, that might very well have assisted in preventing them from ever rising to the threat level that they eventually became. (especially with some acknowledgment from the then Clinton admin). Then again, I think it’s worth evaluating just how much of a threat al-Qaeda was and how much they continue to be. I’ve never believed them to have the overwhelming capacity to threaten the ‘world at large’ that Dick Bush has claimed.
Anyway, thanks again for the post. I’m taking lessons from you.

Wow, Rus7353. We gotta get you a job working in the Cherry Tree orchard. Your cherry-picking is commendable!
And I am heartened and amazed to learn, as I’m sure others on this blog are, that the Taliban is gone. I will ignore news reports of Afghanistan prison breaks orchestrated by Taliban supporters. I will plan my next vacation for two weeks in Afghanistan as soon as the U.S. Department of State removes its “critical” travel warning. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_2121.html
I am equally heartened to learn that Khadafi’s turn against Al Qaeda was a result of our stern stance on Iraq and its WMDs. I’m sure his 1999 public statements to fight Al Qaeda (which, admittedly, were ignored by Clinton) were media misprints.
It’s interesting that our efforts in Iraq have led to improved womens’ rights in so many Mid-east nations. Perhaps one day those improvements will work their way BACK to Iraq and, once again, women there can remove their scarves, attend co-ed schools, drive cars and young, unmarried women can attend events unchaperoned.
Also wonderful to hear is the unqualified success of Iraqi elections. Perhaps one day they will undo their movement to a theocracy from their previous status as a secular government. Perhaps one day the Sunnis will choose to fully participate in their government.
I’m sure the “latest intelligence estimates” judging that Muslims the world over are turning away from the murderous radical Islam is accurate. (That cherry must’ve been a hard one to pick!)
And oh, the joy of hearing that after losing 4,100 soldiers in Iraq the U.S. has not been attacked since 9/11!
Yep, Bush certainly HAS been a complete disaster.

Stephen,
Thanks for the input on Pelosi in this whole process, and what she COULD have done, and didn’t do, which is why it may sit now, in committee. (though it doesn’t have to).
I didn’t know she was your rep, (so you’re right up the oastal road) but since she is, you know that she’s been squashing, hammering, suffocating the active voices among the House democrats for years..long before she even became Speaker. I’ve heard nightmarish stories of her intimidation.
Sounds like Atila the Hun. And yes, I’ve no doubt she DOES have the ‘resources’ to fight off any challanges to her seat unless the citizens take on the responsibility and civic duty of defying the tyranny. Considering Marin County, that could be tricky, but still doable.
And, that’s what I’m hoping. It’s long past time.

Louise, this says what we have to do, and why. Let me say that this has been the hardest thing for me to do in the past several years now, because I know too many people who have buried loved ones because of Dick Bushs lies. It is the most painful thing for someone to accept this reality, when they have lost a loved because of it. Yet, I keep reminding, and yesterday, I did this again with Vincent Bugliosis interview at Democracy Now!
Hes the passionate prosecutor with the oratorical skills to pump people up, and thats why I did it. (though it has to be a painful reminder). No matter. Right after I made my last comment, I heard from a friend who had to pawn her computer and her TV to come up with enough money to put gas in a borrowed truck to move her family into the home of a friend.
She’s one of those housing bubble victims, who never had reason to believe the Real Estate Agent and the Real Estate Broker and the Title Company and the banks Mortgage Broker had inserted lies into her mortgage application to help her get into her home. After all, as they all tell us in their advertising, THEY are the experts we need to count on, to get it done right.
Anyway. She can’t afford long distance yet and she hasn’t got access to the Internet and she had no idea Kucinich had introduced articles of impeachment and asked where she could sign on. So I need to get her over here so she can read, and then send emails and Fax’s and make phone calls. And I’m wondering if maybe we don’t all know someone in her situation and shouldn’t we all be doing the same thing?

Louise, first, thanks for setting the (congressional) record straight. Nancy happens to be my representative; so I can tell you that, in her case, it has gone much further than electronic mail and telephone calls. Since assuming leadership, she has had to face challenges for her seat from progressives even within her own party, not to mention endoresements from media that are off the mainstream. I think it is important that she has those challenges, but it is clear that she has the resources to prevail over them. Still, I agree with your strategy in general. Even in the elevated world of the Capitol, there are still “grass roots.” Those in the best position to influence impeachment are those whose representatives are “mere members” of the Judiciary Committee, rather than Conyers (the Committee leader) or Pelosi (the House leader). Those members have as much of a voice in setting the agenda as the leadership does!
Report thisBy Louise, June 14, 2008 at 12:45 pm #
Actually to avoid an up or down vote that might result in the articles of impeachment being voted right out of existence, the best thing to do is what Kucinich did. Ask the impeachment articles be sent to the Judiciary committee ... and it was KUCINICH, not Nancy who called for a vote to do that. No one else ... just him. And that’s where they went and that’s where we should be directing our frustration. To the House Judiciary Committee.
Nobody knows better than Kucinich, the contempt House leadership has for what they see as a teeny handful who want impeachment. And nobody knows better how overwhelmed and sadly uninformed a lot of the representatives are. And none of them, including Kucinich have time to peruse all the posts and articles on the internet that could explain to them what we the people think about what they OUR representatives are doing, or not doing.
So in case nobody picked up on it, there’s a couple of clues here.
Leadership in the House believes it’s only a teeny handful that wants impeachment, so obviously while millions may want it and millions may be saying so on blogs and in the kitchen, those millions are NOT communicating with their representatives, because if they were, the volume of demand would overwhelm them.
So what’s up here? How come they aren’t getting millions of emails and phone calls?
My Senator has said on more than one occasion, the most powerful lobby in America is We the People. But we the people are not getting through to our Senators and Representatives. How come?
The media isn’t covering the story? Well duh ... since when did we count on the media?
They aren’t listening to us? Well how many of us are talking to them?
They really believe impeachment is not in their best interests?
Maybe we the people have failed because we’ve allowed them to forget, their best interests are OUR best interests. How can we remind them of that simple truth? Comes right back to the same thing.
Quit believing our demands on the Internet are getting through to them, because unless those demands are translated into phone calls and emails coming into THEIR offices .. they aren’t!
How out of touch are they? A good answer to that question came out of Kucinich on democracy now yesterday. Seeing the look on his face and the incredulous tone in his voice when he responded was worth a million words!
AMY GOODMAN: Congressman Kucinich, the head of the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean, said voters did not hand Democrats control of Congress two years ago in order to impeach President Bush.
REP. DENNIS KUCINICH: Is that what he said? Well, you know what? Howard Dean ought to check with the people where he lives with in Vermont, because the people in Vermont understand this.
http://www.democracynow.org/2008/6/13/despite_opposition_from_his_own_party
Vermont has led the nation in demanding impeachment.
Nancy’s excuse that it could backfire and give Bush sympathy indicates how little she’s hearing from the public. No thinking person, including a republican, who has buried someone killed in Bush’s war is going to feel sorry for Bush and Cheney if they know everything that led to their loved ones death was because of lies deliberately created by Bush and Cheney, to lead us into war for the personal gain of Bush and Cheney.
If that is proved by trial of Bush and Cheney on the impeachment articles introduced by Kucinich, every person who has suffered a loss will be forced to see that, and sympathy will go right out the window. Along with a few congress folks who voted for war.

cyrena, you are quite right that articles of impeachment are “processed” by the Judiciary Committee; but this may be a case that pushes the envelope of those normative processes. Unless I am mistaken, it is the job of the Judiciary Committee to INTRODUCE articles of impeachment (after due deliberation, of course). Once the articles have been proposed, the House votes on which ones get taken to trial in the Senate. Kucinich had the CHUTZPAH to take on the job of the Judiciary Committee by himself; and I am not sure that “normative procedure” has anything to say about whether the Committee has a role once a set of articles have been placed before the House. Presumably, in the absence of any explicit rules, it is up to the Speaker to determine how to proceed. She COULD have called for a vote on the articles themselves, but instead she had the House vote on whether further action should be preceded by a review by the Judiciary Committee. This vote was taken, and the House so decided. As Al Jazeera reported, it is now unlikely that the Judiciary Committee will schedule this review before the end of the Bush Administration. I do not think there is any procedural reason why the House could not have voted on the actual articles and the initiation of impeachment proceedings, but Pelosi’s actions are consistent with her feelings about this whole business.
I also disagree with jeffm over whether or not this is “grandstanding.” I am pretty sure that Kucinich knew that Pelosi would not allow his articles to come to a vote, and he knew she had a legitimate way to do this. However, since the Judiciary Committee had never scheduled ANY consideration of impeachment, there was no other way to bring a set of articles to the House floor and introduce them to the Congressional Record. I doubt that he expected more than making those articles a matter of public record. He did so within proper House procedures, and they are now there for all the world to see.

Ya know .... If bush was kicked out after his first 100 days it would have saved jobs, trillions of dollars and all the lives lost on 911 and since. We hear a count of the KIA’s in Iraq but we don’t add to that total those that were wounded and have died from their wounds or those that will die because of their wounds. Face it and say what a lot are thinking… the present administration should be tried for war crimes and eliminated along with their wealth as traitors to the American people.

Not so, not so. Not with impeachment. No, no. Actually, not with any series of these kinds of charges. They must ALL be listed.
To the contrary, if they only choose ONE, and ignored all of the others, THAT would be an indication of not being serious. Starts to sound very much like some sort of a plea bargain.
That can’t happen on federal charges, even aside from impeachment. Take a look at some of the standard indictments from nearly ANY federal prosecution. They ALWAYS indict for all of the charges, and the juries have to decide on each and every charge.
To do some sort of a jerry-rigged operation for something this serious would be the worst sort of cynicism. Seriously. To do any less than the proper procedure, (and especially this late in the day) would be a mockery of the entire system. (and we’ve had enough of that.)

Umm, jeffm,
This vote to send the thing to the Judiciary Committee is exactly what HAS to happen! THAT is the victory so to speak. The articles of impeachment can ONLY be processed from there. This was the ONLY next step.
This is what they could NOT accomplish in April of 2007, when Dennis K introduced the same process against Dick Cheney. Ron Paul prevented a vote to send it to the Judiciary Committee, which essentially tabled the thing. In other words, it HAS to go to the Judiciary Committee, which is exactly why every single democrat voted for it to do that! Its just the proscribed process for impeachment. Nothing can happen until it gets to the House Judiciary Committee. Then theyll do their part. If they impeach him in the House, then it will go to the Senate.
So, this was the INTENDED outcome. IE..this is GOOD!

One of the problems with the impeachment movement is the long list of impeachable offenses. It sounds too much like a bunch of sore losers griping. Choose one offense - the one that makes the best legal case - and keep at it until you have to be heard.
Sending everything up the flagpole to see what flies is not serious. Everyone senses this. Kucinich surely knows it too, so we can probably conclude that this is all just grandstanding.

The American public already voted for “change” once in 2006 when it gave the Democrats a majority in both houses of Congress largely because voters wanted an end to the Iraq war and mistakenly believed that Democratic politicians were actually going to stand up to Bush. Unfortunately, what voters didn’t count on is that it’s hard to stand up when you don’t have a spine. Will electing Obama as President bring a much-needed dramatic change of direction from the Bush years? Don’t hold your breath.

Congressman Kucinich has distinguished himself and history will hold him in high regard for his commitment to uphold his oath of office..
Impeachment is enshrined in our Constitution in truth it cannot be “off the table” with 35 Articles of Impeachment if only half or one third of them is upheld even one then Impeachment as there is no remorse or contrition on the part of this President then Impeachment is warranted..
There are among these 35 Articles direct violations of the Constitution and malfeasance that is unprecedented and with this collusion not simply incompetence but direct collusion with both the Bush White Hose but also the Vice President who Kucinich already filed Impeachment Articles against..
The saddest thing is that we have become so numb to abuse of office and even nearly immune to it that our cynicism passes for what many would have you believe is sophistication when it is actually a decent into thuggery…
There is also still plenty of time left for both G.W. Bush and Dick Richard Cheney to get harm to our nation, it’s army, it’s economy and it’s standing in the world, such as the very possible or even likely attack upon Iran..
If this occurs we will rue to day that we did not hold true to the foresight and wisdom of our Founders vision and design and intent and Impeach G.W. Bush and Richard “Dick” Cheney and the fault will be our own, along with our disloyal myopic unethical suspect Speaker of the House under who’s own personal abridged version of the Constitution we now simply exist as if serfs, and citizens and participants in a democracy no longer..

Kucinich has been blocked again by a vote on the House floor
Ive been tied up trying to find the legal points/arguments regarding all of these air strikes that the US military has been engaging in. Air strikes that allegedly target terrorists but inevitably miss the supposed terrorists and just kill civilians.
So, Ive missed the block (again) from the House, to pass this on to the judiciary committee. Last I heard, (from Louise on another thread) was that they were sending it on to the committee. So, I must have misunderstood. Maybe that was just a decision to allow for a vote to decide whether or not to send it to the judiciary committee.
So on this:
My guess is that the number of people who voted NOT to consign his impeachment bill to the Judiciary Committee makes for a very short list. Does anyone have that list to hand?
Im likely to agree with you that this had to be a very short list, but I dont have it. If Louise has been following closely, (as she usually does) she may be able to provide it. Ill check back in in a bit, to see if anyone else might. Otherwise, Ill try to track it down myself after I finish this next part of my project and take a break.

This kind of thinking plays into the corporate thinking of America’s media. To call Kucinich left-leaning is to affirm the corrupt neocon establishment’s attempt to label anything smacking of democratic rather than imperialistic is not patriotic and is far to the left.
Like Marie too many Americans have bought this propaganda, propagated quite effectively through well-financed neocon think tanks, utilized by Karl Rove Republicans, and supported by the corporate media.
The articles of impeachment are a necessity to stop the corruptions and abuses of the Bush administration from spreading to the likes of John McCain or anyone else in the future.
The illegal powers that Bush has pushed through, including martial law, camps to imprison dissenters, and torture—all weapons to use against Americans who think—have never been revoked.
It is like inviting a tyrant like Bush to finish the corruption he so ably started.

Kucinich is a hero.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on taking the speakership in 2006, announced that impeachment was “off the table”—like a new sheriff riding into a lawless town and announcing, don’t worry, nobody’s going to jail under my watch.
Pelosi has argued (and indeed, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer argues today) that impeachment would be a distraction for the country, and would detract from House business that the Democratic leadership believes is more pressing.
More likely, they are concerned that impeachment proceedings against Bush will re-galvanize the right and jeopardize their party’s chances of increasing their majorities in the House and Senate—and taking the White House.
But the legal precedent they set by not acting sets the stage for future disaster.

Yep. Ive mentioned this as well like yesterday. The flip cynicism from Marie and others like her are the example of propaganda poorly disguised as journalism. It ISNT! Nor is it cute or entertaining in the least. Its an insult to the principles of what we allegedly hold dear, and a mockery to the system of democracy as we are trying to practice it.

In Fact if Obama doe snot at least come out Publically to commend Rep Kucinich in his efforts in the House, I probalbly wont be voting for him either.
You mentioned this yesterday, and since then, Ive tried to find the quote from sometime back, when a constituent asked Obama about impeachment, and he answered with something like, That is an available legal remedy that can and should be considered. That was a paraphrase, and Ive not been able to find the exact quote, to put it in context with the rest of his remarks at the time. I will keep looking.
In the meantime, I personally will be satisfied if Obama supports this move LEGISLATIVELY, since thats all that matters. I dont need to hear from him on it until it reaches that stage, and since Ive been personally involved with this effort (impeachment) for years now, Im hoping to see that day relatively soon.
Meantime, you also mention this.
If Push comes to shove Im voting for Paul! Along with every Independent, Libertarian, Green Party..Candidate on the Ballot.
I understand the frustration. However, I wanted to point out a bit of reality minus the emotion that has swept us all away. (and intentionally created by the fascists I might add). If you remember, Dennis Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment, or a resolution of such, against Dick Cheney about a year ago, give or take. His efforts at the time, were legislatively BLOCKED by none other than RON PAUL. So the action was tabled so that it could at least be addressed again at some point. And of course were now seeing the persistence of Dennis Kucinich to do exactly that.
So, I said that to say that if youre considering other options to the candidates in the fall, PAUL has not come out publicly to endorse this, but rather has come out on THE RECORD, to OPPOSE it!! For me, (and I think it should be the case for all of us, but thats just my opinion) what these politicians and legislatures say..ON THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD is what matters.
Cynthia McKinney IS on the record for impeachment, since she also submitted a similar proposal as (articles of impeachment) just prior to leaving the House when she lost her seat in the 2006 race. Her efforts were pooh-pooed as symbolic by the media.
Nadar has also called publicly for impeachment, (since as far as I know, he doesnt have a legislative voice) so thats good. According to the wikipedia entry on him, he is the ONLY candidate to do so
Be that as it may, my point was that we need to match the rhetoric with the fine print when we make these decisions of great importance. And, I think its a really good idea to avoid making the same important decisions on SINGLE ISSUES!
This is exactly what I hear coming from all of the Paulites, and all of the other avid supporters of ANY candidate! Yes. Ron Paul is against the war on Iraq. This is good. Hes ALSO opposed to ANY form of birth control! This is NOT good.
Do you follow me?

The Founding fathers inserted High Crimes and Misdemeanors as a recognition that any wrongdoing that could or would threaten the safety and sanctity of the Constitution of the United States, the freedom of the citizenry guaranteed in that Constitution, and the government as set up by them in that Constitution, could be determined to be a crime punishable by removal from office.
Thereby preserving the three branches of government, none of which could operate independently or above any of the others.
They did not lay out each and every single thing that might potentially constitute that threat. Rather they relied on the wisdom of Congress, as representatives of the people and having sworn an oath to protect and defend that Constitution, as being ever watchful and ready to take action to prevent that threat from becoming a reality. The tool they chose to give the House of Representatives was the tool of impeachment. Charges that when proved could lead to the removal from office of a sitting president. The tool given the Senate was removing the president from office if the Impeachment charges were found by a simple majority to be true and correct.
When we elected a majority democrat congress, impeachment hearings should have been the first thing they did. Because as you will discover when you read the charges, a great deal of what is documented there we already knew, hence they already knew. They have no excuse, except their excuse of wanting to stop the war, which they haven’t because they haven’t really tried. It could have been stopped in a heartbeat. All they had to do was stop paying for it. They have no excuse.
I think the founding fathers knew well, how easily and quickly a body of people can become utterly corrupted by power. As has been the case in the republican controlled congress and now appears to be the case in the body of the democrat controlled congress. Their corruption being, they have decided their respective elections are more important than the Constitution, or the freedom of the citizenry guaranteed in that Constitution, or the sanctity of the three branches of government as established by the founding fathers.
In other words, they stand poised to shoot themselves in the foot, unless they follow through on the very real and very legitimate impeachment charges Kucinich has read into the congressional record. Stopping the utter destruction of Constitutional law is mandated in the oath of office they swore too. And as they ALL very well know, the whole concept of a “unitary executive” is unconstitutional at it’s very core.
This may look like “tilting” to Marie. But that’s probably only because she’s not accustomed to seeing an honest man represent the best interests of the members of his constituency. For no better reason than he actually honors his oath of office.
It is a rare sight indeed.

What has struck me the most about this whole affair is that Al Jazeera appears to be the only institution of journalism with an English-language outlet (unless you count Gore Vidal, who may be an institution unto himself!) to treat this as serious news:

It’s true. They’re not irrelevant, they’re POLITICALLY irrelevant. The politicians are not in the least bit interested in doing anything about it.
While Iraq turns into a black hole, Afghanistan is spiralling downward into one and Dubya is beating the war drums for Iran - with quite a bit of success - nobody is listening to what Kucinich is saying.
And they’ll pay for it.
The endless navel-gazing of the beauty-contest presidential race is all they care about. If the things that Kucinich spoke about aren’t dealt with now and prevented from ever happening again, it won’t matter who’s president.
Obama is no messiah, no saviour, no great leader. He’s a guy who’s already shown signs of pandering to AIPAC, anti-Castro Cubans in Florida, religious Christians of every type, and other special interest groups.
Unless the U.S. puts its military endeavors on hold and deals with this mess, nothing much is going to change. Mickey Mouse could be in the White House and do as good a job.

Just look at the action taken by the British Parliament this week regarding habeas corpus and you see how far we are from the rule of law. There are American citizens who have been held for up to 7 years without being formally charged with any crime.

One major reason why Congress won’t impeach is not because over 60% of the country want it but because the lapdog media including so called truth seeking editorials like this one say so.
Report thisThe idea that Bush and Cheney are going to now slip off in to the dust is ridiculous. They are scheming right now how to continue their blood bath for their conquest. Bush and Cheney have every investigation gagged and Pelosi and Hoyer know it. What’s really happening is that Pelosi and Hoyer are benefiting from the war and the impeachment would reveal this. I hope the people in their districts realize this and vote them out.
Kucinich is the real hero of the 21st century US and to paint him as a loner instead of a representative of the majority in this country that he is says alot about our future.

If we don’t impeach it means we approve of the actions this president has taken and we hope that the next president is as dictatorial.
Frankly, my dear Marie, if you can’t recognize the gravity of the situation you need to find another job. If the newspapers of this country had any balls whatsoever, the headlines would scream “Impeach Bush” every single day. Alas, our newspapers are in the hands of the corporatists who believe in Bush’s brand of business as it helps the bottom line.
And that is the same position of this so-called Democratic congress.
Personally, i’m with Purple Girl, I will not be voting for a change in rhetoric or Bush III, but will be voting for anything else. You will not receive the change you want from Democraps or Repugnicans.
Obama will only end the rule of the Neoconvicts of PNAC and deliver us into the hands of the Trilateral Commission. Which only means that instead of attacking countries that can not defend themselves (for the sake of Israel) we will attack countries that can, like China & Russia.

Obama cannot win the election if he were to endorse impeachment. I wish I were more optimistic regarding our citisenry, but just as Americans overwhelmingly supported Bush in the lead up to invading Iraq, they also do not want their nose rubbed in the fact that they bought all of the lies and are implicated in war crimes.

It never ceases to amaze me how accurate and right Dennis Kucinich is on virtually every issue he brings up. The fact that he gets absolutely no respect, more than anything else, reflects the acute state of denial that our country is in. We have let ourselves be so culturally manipulated and spiritually enslaved by corporate interests that we simply refuse to recognize even the most obvious truths. Don’t give up, Mr. Kucinich. This country may eventually open its eyes.

“And, politically speaking, they are at this point in time irrelevant.”
Marie, why don’t you and Pelosi go take a hike to Canada and get married. Nothing is more relevant to this nation at any time than the upholding of our Constitutional LAW. If we don’t impeach, it will be a carte blanche for an even worse administration to come.
You are a traitor as bad as Pelosi!
