Obama and the JewsPosted on Feb 28, 2008
The bad side of being a new face in politics is that your enemies can treat you like a blank slate, to be filled in with lies and slurs. That’s what is happening to Sen. Barack Obama, who is being subjected to a secretive whispering and e-mail campaign that aims to alienate him from Jewish voters by linking him to Black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan and the Muslim religion. Farrakhan, a demagogic anti-Semite, is the leading character in a smear effort that is gaining in intensity as the Democratic presidential primary election between Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton approaches in Ohio on Tuesday. Clinton and Obama face each other in Texas the same day in another close contest. Bill Clinton says his wife must win both to stay in the race. Jews make up only 2 percent of the vote in Ohio, but they are committed to going to the polls and their numbers could tilt a close election. And polls indicate that Obama’s race against Clinton in Ohio is tight. But, just as important, the smears are racing through the nation on the Internet. In a milder form, they have made it to the pages of some conservative publications. The situation was serious enough for Obama to meet with about 100 members of the Cleveland Jewish community on Sunday, Feb. 24. His campaign staff gave a transcript of the meeting to The New York Sun. “Let’s just be very specific about what these e-mails have been,” Obama said. “And they have just been virulent and started very early ... they are clearly political in the sense that they go in waves. ... Suddenly they magically appear in great volume in whatever state it is we are campaigning. And the e-mails suggest that A. that I am Muslim, B. that I went to a madrassa [an Islamic religious school] C. that I used a Koran to swear myself into the Senate D. That I don’t pledge allegiance to the flag. There are all sorts of variations, but you get the general gist. “If anyone is still puzzled about the facts, in fact I have never been a Muslim ... the school that I attended in Indonesia ... was not a madrassa but was a secular school. ... My grandfather who was Kenyan converted to Christianity then converted to Islam, my father never practiced he was basically agnostic and so other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for 4 years when I was a child I have very little connection to the Islamic religion. But these are the kind of things that you deal with in politics.” Polifact, a political fact-finding Web site produced by the St. Petersburg Times and Congressional Quarterly, noted that Obama is a Christian and took his Senate oath of office on his own personal Bible. The Jewish newspaper The Forward said the e-mails were directed at “frightened, angry Jews, thousands of them, determined to stop anyone they suspect is against them. Once they get going, no one can talk them out of it. They feel powerless and vulnerable before enemies great and small, and they have the clout to do something about it. And they don’t always check the details before hitting the barricades.” The campaign is so outrageous that in mid-January, The Forward said, top officials of nine national Jewish organizations condemned the “attempt to drive a wedge between our community and a presidential candidate based on despicable and false attacks and innuendo based on religion.” Seven Jewish U.S. senators issued a similar message. Critics link Obama to Farrakhan through the senator’s minister, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ. The church’s Trumpet Newsmagazine, edited by Wright’s daughter, bestowed on Farrakhan its Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter award. Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen, noting the magazine said that Farrakhan “truly epitomized greatness,” asked of Obama, “Where is his sense of outrage?” Farrakhan has endorsed Obama. On this week’s MSNBC television debate in Cleveland, the senator was asked about the endorsement. “You know, I have been very clear in my denunciation of Minister Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic comments,” Obama said. “I think that they are unacceptable and reprehensible. I did not solicit this support.” Sen. Clinton said, “There’s a difference between denouncing and rejecting. And I think when it comes to this ... we’ve got to be even stronger.” Obama replied, “I don’t see a difference between denouncing and rejecting. ... But if the word reject Senator Clinton feels is [stronger] than the word denounce, then I’m happy to concede the point. And I would reject and denounce.” Arnold Steinberg, a Republican political consultant active in conservative and Jewish affairs, said that Obama, rather than “hem and haw,” should have quickly and instinctively used the word reject. Obama’s foes also are trying to portray him as hostile to Israel, saying he is relying on advice from Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser. Some Israel supporters consider Carter and Brzezinski hostile to Israel. “I know Brzezinski,” Obama told the Jewish community members in Cleveland. “He’s not one of my key advisers. I’ve had lunch with him once, I’ve exchanged e-mails with him maybe three times. He came to Iowa to introduce me for a speech on Iraq. ... I do not share his views on Israel. I have said so clearly and unequivocally.” A top Obama adviser, former Rep. Mel Levine of California, told me he has “very little doubt that some of Hillary’s supporters and even her campaign itself is perpetuating” the Brzezinski line of attack on Obama. Levine, a former member of the board of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said the attacks are “a problem. Some people are trying to define him [Obama] in a way that is completely innuendo. The Jewish community that know him best is the Jewish community of Chicago [Obama’s home], and they love him. That isn’t as well known outside of Chicago. ... As his record becomes more widely known, it will be less of a problem.” Rob Eshman, editor of the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, said the fact that Obama is just coming under heavy scrutiny makes him susceptible to assaults on issues such as Israel. “He’s an unknown on a lot of issues,” Eshman said. “He doesn’t have a long track record, and on Israel, a candidate’s position is put under a microscope.” So far, Obama is capturing a substantial part of the Jewish vote. On Super Tuesday, exit polls showed him beating Clinton 49 percent to 47 percent in California among Jewish voters. He received 61 percent of the Jewish vote in Connecticut and 52 percent in Massachusetts. Clinton beat him among Jews in New Jersey, Arizona and her home state of New York.
Ohio will be another test of the power of the anti-Obama campaign among Jews. If he wins the nomination, the real test will come in the fall.

The Gaza Bombshell
By David Rose
Vanity Fair
April 2008 Issue
After failing to anticipate Hamas’s victory over Fatah in the 2006 Palestinian election, the White House cooked up yet another scandalously covert and self-defeating Middle East debacle: part Iran-contra, part Bay of Pigs. With confidential documents, corroborated by outraged former and current US officials, David Rose reveals how President Bush, Condoleezza Rice, and Deputy National-Security Adviser Elliott Abrams backed an armed force under Fatah strongman Muhammad Dahlan, touching off a bloody civil war in Gaza and leaving Hamas stronger than ever.
“A Dirty War”
The Al Deira Hotel, in Gaza City, is a haven of calm in a land beset by poverty, fear, and violence. In the middle of December 2007, I sit in the hotel’s airy restaurant, its windows open to the Mediterranean, and listen to a slight, bearded man named Mazen Asad abu Dan describe the suffering he endured 11 months before at the hands of his fellow Palestinians. Abu Dan, 28, is a member of Hamas, the Iranian-backed Islamist organization that has been designated a terrorist group by the United States, but I have a good reason for taking him at his word: I’ve seen the video.
It shows abu Dan kneeling, his hands bound behind his back, and screaming as his captors pummel him with a black iron rod. “I lost all the skin on my back from the beatings,” he says. “Instead of medicine, they poured perfume on my wounds. It felt as if they had taken a sword to my injuries.”
On January 26, 2007, abu Dan, a student at the Islamic University of Gaza, had gone to a local cemetery with his father and five others to erect a headstone for his grandmother. When they arrived, however, they found themselves surrounded by 30 armed men from Hamas’s rival, Fatah, the party of Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. “They took us to a house in north Gaza,” abu Dan says. “They covered our eyes and took us to a room on the sixth floor.”
The video reveals a bare room with white walls and a black-and-white tiled floor, where abu Dan’s father is forced to sit and listen to his son’s shrieks of pain. Afterward, abu Dan says, he and two of the others were driven to a market square. “They told us they were going to kill us. They made us sit on the ground.” He rolls up the legs of his trousers to display the circular scars that are evidence of what happened next: “They shot our knees and feet—five bullets each. I spent four months in a wheelchair.”
Abu Dan had no way of knowing it, but his tormentors had a secret ally: the administration of President George W. Bush.
A clue comes toward the end of the video, which was found in a Fatah security building by Hamas fighters last June. Still bound and blindfolded, the prisoners are made to echo a rhythmic chant yelled by one of their captors: “By blood, by soul, we sacrifice ourselves for Muhammad Dahlan! Long live Muhammad Dahlan!”
There is no one more hated among Hamas members than Muhammad Dahlan, long Fatah’s resident strongman in Gaza. Dahlan, who most recently served as Abbas’s national-security adviser, has spent more than a decade battling Hamas. Dahlan insists that abu Dan was tortured without his knowledge, but the video is proof that his followers’ methods can be brutal.
Bush has met Dahlan on at least three occasions. After talks at the White House in July 2003, Bush publicly praised Dahlan as “a good, solid leader.” In private, say multiple Israeli and American officials, the U.S. president described him as “our guy.”

Congress holds up $150m. in aid to PA
By HILARY LEILA KRIEGER, WASHINGTON Updated Mar 6, 2008
Nita Lowey, chairwoman of the US House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, has placed a hold on $150 million in economic assistance to the PA until the State Department provides further clarification of how the money will be dispensed and until it has certified that a single treasury account for the funds has been created, among other requirements.
Lowey also expressed displeasure with PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s suspension of negotiations with Israel.
“President Abbas’s recent statements cast doubt on his willingness to take the steps necessary for peace with Israel,” she said.
Other members of Congress also weighed in on the situation in Israel Wednesday, overwhelmingly passing a nonbinding House resolution condemning Hamas’s continued rocket fire on Israel.
“For now, the attacks are continuing unabated, and they are destroying what hopes remain of Israeli-Palestinian peace. That is why this resolution unambiguously recognizes and reaffirms Israel’s sovereign right to defend its citizens and territory,” declared Howard Berman, acting chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in a floor speech in Congress Wednesday.
He pointed to the support Hamas was receiving from Iran and Syria and called on Egypt to crack down on the smuggling of weapons into Gaza.
He also said, “As we show our support with this resolution for the people of Israel, we also express our sympathy with the overwhelming majority of Gazans who only want a decent life but whose terrorist leaders have contemptuously sentenced them to mayhem.”
Israeli Ambassador to the US Sallai Meridor welcomed the passage of the resolution, praising it for recognizing Israel’s right to act in self-defense, as well as the strong support Israel enjoys from America.

Congratulations edkar (mamzer)for your hairsplitting techniques! I know quite well that the Balfour declaration was in 1917 and that the Holocaust was dated between 1938-1945. Chronological dating of events was not intended in my post. Even with your observation, the essence of my point is still valid. The Balfour declaration, however, was not implemented but after WWII, and that’s a proof that the plan to evacuate the Jews from Europe and plant them as a political and military colonial entity in the heart of the Arab world was there long before the actual Holocaust. The Holocaust just provided a cover to give the devilish plot a nice humanitarian face.

And that is why your stale leftist “colonial” dogma just doesn’t work. Israel is the homeland, not a colony. It is the epicenter of Jewish spiritual, cultural, and historic life. Always was and always will be.
There has only been one people to exercise sovereignty in Israel, and that has been the Jews. Not Arabs, Abdallah, and Israel existed almost two thousand years before Mohammed was even born.

Though the Balfour declaration was issued in 1917, it was only put in effect after WWII. And that is in itself a proof that clearing Jews from Europe and planting them as a colonial entity in the heart of the Arab word was an idea that preceded the Holocaust. The Holocaust served as an opportunity to put a human face on what was otherwise a devilish plot.

Cyreniac: Person-of-color running for the Presidential nomination, Obama says he will NOT talk to Hamas because they want to destroy Israel, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said clearly that he believed anti-Zionists were ipso facto Anti-Jewish. Don’t wave your person-of-color flag expecting to hide your pathetic Jew-hating groove. Many of us—progressive and proudly pro-Israel Jews—were neck-deep the civil rights movement when it was a very high-risk occupation but we did it because we believed color or lack of pigmentation in an individual is not as important as what lies under the skin, and it’s hard to watch this election’s bloc voting reaffirm the old ideas that race defines a man or woman.
Fadallah: What can one say? You, Hamas, Hezbollah and others of your ilk are death-loving fascists who make it a point to violate the Geneva Convention’s Article 51 (paragraph 8), the one that makes it criminal to deliberately draw fire on civilians by fighting and launching rockets from residential neighborhoods. Then you celebrate because 1)the Israelis are too damned civilized to carpet-bomb Gaza while celebrating because you think it a weakness when 2) Israel attempts to target your militants and bomb factories rather than just blasting away willy nilly at the civilians you hide behind. How low can you go? (You’re right that Western anti-Semitism exists, but that doesn’t excuse or explain Arab anti-Semitism, in which otherwise sane people decide they’d rather blow themselves up than build a society.)

Unfortunately, the Israeli Jews are somewhat like the Scots and the Scots Irish who were equally as unwanted by the English some centuries back. They were slaughtered in their homeland and then forcibly evacuated to Northern Ireland to be used as a wedge for the further subjugation of Ireland and to resist French colonization.
Both from Scotland and Northern Ireland they came to America and formed an influential part of white “settler society” helping to eradicate the indigenous inhabitants from the “wild West”. They then went on to be the one of the main motivating forces in the USA’s conquering the world with the threat of nuclear weapons.
Now it would seem that Americans are equally disposed towards having Israel (through AIPAC) assert itself as some kind of dominating force in the world. Thus the lack of genuine morality in the past has come home to the USA. Their “Its either them or us!” imperative of “settler society” has re-appeared in the Jewish state and its usurpation of Palestine.

In the Middle East, the Second World War has not ended.”
How true, Robert Fisk, is the above statement, with which you ended your tragically sad account on how the Middle East has been made the theater for using the West’s weapons of mass destruction.
Every time I hear about the violence in Iraq and Palestine my blood boils up with anger and hate for the legacy of Western wars and their colonial enterprises in the Middle East. Take, for example, the over sixty-year tragic situation in Palestine. The West hated so much the Semitic Jews and the result was the Holocaust. Then they continued hating them to the point that they devised the Balfour plan to get rid of the survivors and send them to Palestine under the pretext of helping them. But in fact, this was a racist imperialist plan whose real purpose was to get rid of the largest numbers of European Jews and plant them in other Semitic people stolen land in order to set up two Semitic groups against each other, in a perpetual conflict, while they continue to provide weapons of mass destruction to both sides, on the hope that they will finish each others.
If Arabs and Jews think about what white Europeans’ real intentions were and continue to be, they might wake up to the reality of the need to reconcile and put an end to the merchants of death not-so-humanistic plans for the mostly Semitic people of the Middle East.

Hungarian Jews called to register for class action
Peter Wolz, who describes himself as an attorney for Jewish survivors of Auschwitz and their heirs, is appealing for Hungarian victims of the death camps and their heirs to contacts him over a possible class action.
Düsseldorf-based Wolz says he has already filed a class action for $40 billion against the US government at the Federal District court of Colombia, in Washington DC. The class action concerns the failure of the Allies to bomb the railway bridges between Hungary and Auschwitz during the Second World War. Wolz believes the bombing of the railway bridges could have saved more than 400,000 Hungarian Jews life during 1944. He put the number of Budapest Jews who escaped the Holocaust – people like financier George Soros and the late Congressman Tom Lantos – at about 120,000 only.
“The responsible Federal judge drew a summons, which was delivered to President George W Bush,” Wolz told The Budapest Sun via email.
“In his reply the President declared, ‘The US accepts the well-pled allegations of the complaint as true,’” the attorney claimed.
Wolz’s call for Hungarian survivors and heirs to register with his IPAS (international project group Auschwitz Sammelklagen (class action)), organization, for either further punitive class actions at US Federal Courts, or for settlement out of court, follows Bush’s visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Israel this January.
Evil exists
Speaking at the site, the President was quoted by the Associated Press as saying, “I wish as many people as possible would come to this place. It is a sobering reminder that evil exists, and a call that when evil exists. we must resist it.”
Wolz, who says the President also said “We should have bombed Auschwitz,” at the memorial, insists that the US Air Force, which controlled the European skies in 1944, could easily have bombed the railways and the bridges bringing Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz. But the camp and its supply lines were taken off the final list of target proposals and never were bombed.
“Auschwitz survivors and heirs of victims are called to register by post with I.P.A.S., Bahnstr 24, D-42781 Haan-Gruiten,” Wolz said.

Actually, Fadel makes a good point. The Old Testament is a FAR more “violent” book than the Qur’an. And I have read both numerous times. For sheer number of passages in which war, violence and murder are carried out in “God’s name,” the OT beats the Qur’an by quite a bit.
That’s simply observation and fact.
However, he is wrong about Hitler, who was a self-proclaimed “Christian” in name only, and “used” the few passages from the NEW Testament that could be twisted to support anti-Semitism (including the overall - and completely bogus - claim that the Jews murdered Christ).

Carl Rove’s signature is all over the Democratic Primary.
A large number of Diehard Republicans and Christian Fundamentalists voted for Sen.Obama in California, Oregon and to be the same for other big states like Texas,Ohio…
By using the Democratic Party’s Primary Election Rule which allows all voters to vote for democratic candidates, the Republican would eliminate Sen.Hillary Clinton who would capture the votes from the white, hispanic and asian male republicans who are in dismay of Bush and the current republican policies.
While I have a lot of respect for Sen.Obama, I think he won’t survive an attack from the republican strategists by playing fear of his arabic heritage and threat of terrorism into american public mind. While his stance against starting the Iraq war was a bonus during the Democratic Primary, it would be a fatal blow when connected to his cultural heritage.
I am so disapointed of the head of Democratic party for not seeing this coming in order to have the best candidate for this election.

To edkar! More pain-causing memories to enjoy! What about some theology of murder and unbound savagery from your most sacred book:
“Shout; for Jehovah has given you the city (Jericho), and the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to Jehovah for destruction; only Rahav, the harlot and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she hid the messengers (i.e. spies) that we sent… So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people raised great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city, both men and women, young and old, oxen, sheep and asses with the edge of the sword.” (Joshua 6:15-21)
“And Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and smote its king with sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all those kingdoms. And they put to the sword all who were in it, utterly destroying them; there was none left that breathed, and he burned Hazor with fire. And all the cities of those kings, Joshua took, and smote them with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded. And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the people of Israel took for their booty; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they did not leave any that breathed. As Jehovah had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that Jehovah had commanded Moses.” (Joshua 11:10-15)
Is that enough for your theology of savagery, murder and terrorism. Hitler must have read these passages, and decided to give your terrorists a taste of their own medicine!

Obama says US should not meet with Hamas
‘You can’t negotiate with somebody who does not recognize the right of a country to exist,’ Democratic presidential candidate tells reporters during campaign stop in Texas
Reuters
Published: 03.04.08
SAN ANTONIO - Democratic US presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday backed the Bush administration’s policy of shunning contact with the Islamic militants of Hamas in its Middle East peace diplomacy.
The Illinois senator has said he would break with President George W. Bush’s stance of declining to talk to some other international adversaries but that stance does not apply to Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and is committed to the destruction of Israel.
Obama has said in the past he would be willing to meet with leaders with whom the Bush administration strongly disagrees, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Cuban leader Raul Castro.
Obama, hoping to win his party’s nomination to face likely Republican nominee Sen. John McCain in the November presidential election, said his willingness to meet with foes “does not include Hamas.”
“You can’t negotiate with somebody who does not recognize the right of a country to exist so I understand why Israel doesn’t meet with Hamas,” Obama told reporters during a campaign stop in San Antonio, Texas.

Religion may be part of the problem, I am not a mid-east scholar, I look at it like the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland, a hate filled war sponsored by religion, because of religion, for religion. Here in the USA, religions seem to be used as a tool to keep the masses dumb, supported by Mass Media and he rest of the crap on television. Blind faith of fables offered as fact, enhances ignorance, which has only one direction to go but lower.
