Soldiers of the Army’s 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, run across a snow-covered prairie during training at Fort Riley, Kan., in January. The unit is now in Iraq as part of Bush’s troop “surge.”

By Eugene Robinson

WASHINGTON—Here’s a surprise: Remember how we were told that if we just waited until the fall, we’d see that George W. Bush’s “surge” was working in Iraq? Well, now it turns out that we shouldn’t expect answers in September after all.

White House spokesman Tony Snow was purposeful on Wednesday in stomping, trampling, tap-dancing upon and otherwise giving a definitive beat-down to any expectations of a serious, fact-based reassessment of Iraq policy in the fall. Never mind that the White House raised those expectations in the first place.

The September scenario has been a rhetorical mainstay for the administration and its supporters, a major argument for ignoring all the bad news from Iraq and giving Bush’s troop escalation a chance to work. Let’s wait for Gen. David H. Petraeus, the man who’s now running the war, to submit his progress report. At that point, went the White House argument, the “way forward” would become clear.

The fog of war seems to have closed back in. “I have warned from the very beginning about expecting some sort of magical thing to happen in September,” Snow told the White House press corps, whose collective recollection was somewhat different. “No, I’m not. What I’m saying is in September you’ll have an opportunity to have metrics.”

Actually, there are plenty of “metrics” already. A Pentagon report, released Wednesday, finds that since the U.S. troop escalation began, the overall level of violence in Iraq has not decreased and civilian casualties have actually risen slightly. There has been a decline in violence in Baghdad and Anbar province—the areas where most of the 28,700 extra “surge” troops are deployed—but an increase in other parts of the country.

The rest of the report holds few surprises for anyone who has been paying attention. The Iraqi government is no closer to a political agreement that Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds can all live with (assuming such an agreement is even theoretically possible). Militias, not government forces, continue to rule much of Baghdad and the rest of the country. “Sectarian friction” is the euphemism du jour for civil war.

And that, mind you, is the assessment of the U.S. military, not some bunch of “cut and run” naysayers. U.S. casualties, meanwhile, are increasing markedly as “surge” troops deploy into hot spots. The only real non-negative news out of Iraq is the dog that didn’t bark, at least not yet: The latest bomb attack on the revered Shiite mosque in Samarra has not, as of this writing, triggered the spasm of unrestrained sectarian bloodletting that everyone fears.

In that context, it’s easy to understand why the White House would want everyone to forget about the whole September thing. It’s obvious that Iraq certainly won’t look much better by then, and may look considerably worse.

Snow said he was emphasizing “metrics” because he knew that in September, “some people are going to try to make the argument, if the job is not done and if they haven’t perfected it and if they haven’t achieved all the—then it’s a failure. I wanted to guard against that.”

Precisely. In the world of retail, this is known as bait and switch.

The thing is that no one should be surprised. On Iraq, Bush has been nothing if not consistent. Never has he given any indication of seriously considering a real change of policy. Every grudging concession, every ballyhooed initiative, every single announced change has been on the margins—dump Donald Rumsfeld, appoint Petraeus, order the “surge.” Politicians, analysts and even generals can talk all they want about civil war, about redeployment, about phased withdrawal. None of that is remotely on the president’s agenda.

Will anything Petraeus says in his September report change Bush’s determination to fight on in Iraq toward ill-defined “victory”—to “win” what has become a multifaceted mess of sectarian warfare that everyone is destined to lose? Almost certainly not. If there is a single encouraging paragraph in the entire document, Bush will seize on it as vindication.

Facts on the ground have never been the determining factor in Bush’s policy on Iraq. Facts don’t even seem to be a particularly important factor. It was considerate of Tony Snow to start preparing us for the inevitable—and, indirectly, to remind congressional leaders that if they want to change the president’s course on Iraq, they won’t do it through reasoned persuasion. George Bush can’t bring himself to question his basic vision of Iraq, and I doubt he ever will.

Interesting concept, and seems to be the theory of many. One wonders how this thread got into a discussion about the ‘surge bait & switch’ - but actually as we know they’re all connected - which equals: “Global Domination”, both militarily & economically. Home Depots’ just sold their global warehousing biz to Carlyle Group, etc - Can just imagine how expensive buiding materials are going to get now, so The Bush Crime Family can continue making a profit off their wars; and privatize our sacred lands & water - for profit only.

I did hear a rumour from a bi-lingual friend, citizen of U.S. but originally from Argentina. Apparently, Mexico is executing some of it’s own ‘ethnic cleansing’ by forcing the ‘browns’ out of MX because they are of Myan heritage—not ‘Spanish’, as in “Spain”. If this is true, or urban legend....it seems to make sense with everything else that’s going on...along with The Bush Crime Family’s veto to heal the regular folks via stem-cell research in the name of ‘God’ and instead implies that they have other ideas, or ‘formulas’ if you will—‘to create the perfect society’.

Hard not to get gloom & doom about all this - but to remain stupid would be the biggest crime.  Right, is Bloomberg gonna hook up with LeiberBush - or will Al Gore save the day with Michael Moore, running mate?!  (I’m joking here)

peace.

To Ardee, you have been gifted with a truly unique talent. The naming of people. Are you Native Indian? They were(are)known for their ability to give names to people that were best fit them. Your comment: “slime trail leaving zombie”, priceless. The “dry drunk, and rodeo clown”, comments are classic. However,I think the last name given G.W. has forgotten himself. He still resembles a rodeo clown even though he is suppossed to be the president. Also the names airhead and brainless fit well also.

Many months before the first presidential term that G.W.BUllSHit stole, he talked about his top things to do when he got into the White House: waging war with Iraq was the very first item on that list, not jobs, health care or anything in the best interest of America, those were toward the bottom of the list ( this was reported in the local newspaper around July 2000).Too bad his priorities were, and still are, in the wrong order. Long before the gag orders and all the censorship that this administration has done to all the news media in this country, to the prefabrication of what his administration allows the news media to report to the American public, to blaming the news media for not telling the public that what they report is not the truth, the real news, that it is a fairytale made up by the Bushies BooBoo Boys. “It was the responciblity of the news media to tell the public they were being fed a pack of lies, it ain’t my fault they didn’y tell you” said G.W. Never mind said BUllSHit, we will dumb down Americans even more and to continue with the mass confusion,we’ll bring in as many illegals as possible, and don’t forget the LIES.I just love quagmires. Keep the people stired, up just add some more FEAR and shake up well.
When BUllSHit decides to do something, don’t let the truth get in the way. Manipulate it some more, that’s what I have Carl Kove for. After all I intended this war to last forever. I am doing my best to fulfill endtime prophecy. By the way, pretending to be religious and all is just a scam, it’s easier to brainwash all those religious types anyway, why do you think they call then sheep? If I tell them something they will believe me, I go to church,I got GOD on my side, besides God told me to kill all those strangers over there in Iraq anyway. It is his will that I am doing.
While I am at,lets turn America into a dictatorship as it is much easier to control Americans if America was a dictatorship(from the mouth of G.W.BUllSHit in the documovie “Bush’s Brain” while he was partying with his cronies). That statement from G.W. should have been enough to have him impeached. A true traitor to America and all those who gave their lives for the freedoms that this president thinks so little of that he has already taken away over 60% of the Bill of Rights that we are aware of.
Don’t expect this president to vacate the White House even when this term is over. He is just low and underhanded enough to declare martial law or suspend the elections forever just to stay in office and continue to destroy America from within. After all, he wanted this war and for us to be in it “for the long term”.
The"surprise" was no surprise to me, and anyone who has half heartedly listened and researched this mess we call the Iraq war. It has been a pack of lies from well before the start going back to several months before election 2000.

On a lighter note I am researching to see if I can legally change my birthday not for any illegal reason. It’s just that I unfortunately have the same birthday as G.W. and since he has been the cause for so much damage, hatred and negativity in the world and across the country,it just ruins the whole day for me every July 6.
Even if G.W. were impeached, unless he was outright fired, he, unfortunately would still be president. However,it might be for the best as Cheney is worse off with his own view of la-la land versus reality. Any other job you would have been fired in a heartbeat.
As to how G.W. got his MBA(Master of the Bullshit Artist degree). Why his daddy paid for it, thats how.

Gloom and Doom Hadley?

It just is not profitable for China to bankrupt and destroy the economy of the USA, so why would they? If we are too poor to buy their goods then they are poor as well.

I am not disagreeing that our economy is suffering under the dry drunk, deserter, frat boy, rodeo clown. Its just that , with our ten trillion dollar GNP the rest of the world needs a healthy US economy as much as we do.

We need to return to fiscal sanity, for the sake of our workers, our infrastructure and our children of course. But preaching the sky is falling is going a bit over the top.

So, Humble Servant is still out there I see, and telling us that it’s time to put up or shut up. Seeing as he has no power to force anyone to do either, I guess I’ll keep talking.

All the things that HS want’s us to email the Marines about, are things that most of them already know. Or, even if they DON’T know that they are there to work for Halliburton, and Dick Cheney, and all of the others of the Cabal, they ALSO don’t have any other valid reason for being there.

So, when they started asking a few years back, WHY they were actually there, and what it was that they were supposed to be doing, and who the “enemy” actually WAS, and what the “goal” was....ZIP. No answers...no answers that any rational mind can comprehend. Because, there IS no reason, other than the real reasons. The pursuit of profit and hegmony by the limited few that sent them there. They’ve been there long enough to know that the Iraqis aren’t “our” enemies. They’ve been there long enough to know that they aren’t “defending” US, or our Constitution, because we don’t need to be 6,000 miles from home in a foreign soverign nation, in order to “defend” the US. These soldiers and Marines have already figured out, that neither they, their families, or the rest of their fellow citizens back home, are going to receive ANY of the loot from the bounty of oil that they are there to get, on behalf of Halliburton, or any of the other transnationals.

They know these things, even if some are slower learners than others.

The only thing they are waiting to hear from us, is when we’re gonna get them the hell out of there.

It has grown tiresome to see apologists for this administration’s ill-conceived foreign escapades to disparage criticism of said policy as “not supporting the troops.” Convenient though it may be to those who utilize such a premise, it is more a failure of the realization that there is no longer any cohesive and justifiable argument in favor keeping our troops in Iraq any longer.

Supporting the troops isn’t about sitting on some stupid computer in your mother’s basement talking about how great they are, and how great the foreign policy is they are pawns of, or, how, no matter what, we’re behind you, because we’re behind BUSH!

One way of supporting the troops is to DISSENT. To put pressure on this delusional administration to keep our troops unnecessarily out of harms way. I am by no means a pacifist: we in NYC are still recovering from the emotional scars of 9-11, and we all recognize that there are people out there who would like to see that fateful day repeated.

But to blindly follow the path that has been put before us since then, in light of what the facts and history has shown otherwise, is plain folly.

The apologists (yes, YOU) who clearly do not have the facts on your side, still try to justify your views by your supposedly superior moral clarity. In fact, as you have so clearly illustrated here, you seek to suppress any opposing viewpoint by shielding your misbegotten dogmatism with the honor of our troops. Surely, you cannot actually believe that any criticism of this war is a direct attack on our troops? Is there no line between the policy and those that die for those policies?

YOU are despicable. Posting that link here in attempt to shame those who would disagree with your viewpoint. You merely expose yourself as a creature of politics, who, just like the Imbecile in the White House, is willing to sacrifice the troops to that self-serving end. THAT, my friend, is more disrespectful to those who serve in the uniform than anything that has been said heretofore on this board.

He does, however, serve one purpose here in that he verifies the incredible ignorance of those who buy Bushs’ lies. Some of the garbage he posts could be from The Onion, that bastion of sarcasm and humor.

He might be made aware that, every day, veterans of the Iraqi invasion are criticising the Bush administration and the war effort louder and louder.

If he was truly what he thinks he is we might see the responses to the questions posed, or the facts in refutation of the almost mythic ignorance of his political citings, but, alas we dont. You don’t like the fact that I say you hate America.  Here’s your chance to prove me wrong.  Black Five blog, http://www.blackfive.net/main/2007/06/roundtable_with.html, had an article on how you can email the Marines overseas.  Please tell them how they are fighting an illegal war.  Tell them how they are fighting for a lie.  Tell them how you support the Dems insulting the military.

Mike the Dick, tell them how they are abetting the enemy.  I bet they would really appreciate knowing that.  ardee, please tell them how they are oppressing the Iraqi people.  Crimson Ghost, tell them how they are committing war crimes.  felicity, tell them how they are inflicting suffering on the Iraqi people.  QuyTran, tell them how you do not want them finishing their job.  Mudwollow, tell them how they are fighting for the military complex.  Steve Hammons, tell them how they are fighting for Halliburton.

Here’s the email:  RCT-6lettersfromh at gcemnf-wiraq dot usmc dot mil

Ask them to read your comments here and see if they think you support them or whether you care about this country.  I’m sure they will realize how much smarter you are then they.

Boxer and Feinstein actually campaigned for Lieberman during the primaries in Vermont and Clinton raised money for him as well. I remember emailing both of my Senators expressing my chagrin at their support for someone who refused to support them in the Senate. Collegiality aside this is very difficult to understand, especially as Lieberman is not only a roadblock to Democratic action but threatens the tenuous majority.

When Joe first ran for the Senate he ran against an eighteen year incumbant. He said it was “time for a change.” Ironic that, after his own eighteen years, he only changed parties.

For G. Anderson...I don’t have any argument with you on most of this stuff, including Feinstein. I can think of other’s that probably need to go before she does, (I mean, looking at the overall picture) but I’ll agree that the immigration law is only to protect the corporations, and continue to provide cheap labor for them.

And, it’s not “immigration” that feeds the gang problem in LA, it’s uncontrolled “illegal” immigration, because the US Corporations have long since made it impossible for these people to make a living in their own country. That’s why they come here to begin with. And, it’s not like they have to come from far away, since they’ve pretty much been in the general area for centuries longer than the rest of us.

It’s a problem because the urban and economic environment has already deteriorated so much, that the addition of all of these EXTRA people, (without a means to support themselves) begin competing for jobs and resources that are already in short supply. It’s not actually a new phenomena.

Gangs are an outgrowth of the larger picture.... A depressed society. When we see that a more overall distribution of the economy would fix this, then maybe it will be fixed. I don’t hold out a lot of hope on that, because I believe the Oligarchy will simply never die.

But, as long as have 80% of the population competing for 10% of the resources,(which is all that’s left for them to divide up, because the wealthy have the rest)gangs are gonna be a problem. They’re gonna run drugs and steal in order to survive, and that’s the stuff that generally leads to gang activities.

It wasn’t a problem when it only affected the black and brown communities, because nobody much cared. (except of course the people trying to LIVE in those communities) But now of course the hijacking of our government has spread the strife to include the formerly middle class white communities as well. Ergo, there’s a “problem” now. The immigration law won’t fix that, since it is in fact punitive.

I don’t see anything wrong with locking up general criminals though. The problem is that the police force in the L.A. area is not historically known for being able to tell the difference between a person perpetuating an act of gang violence, and a black or brown person just walking down the street minding their own business. So, a “gang injunction” is likely to be equally worthless, since the only thing likely to come of that is more gang violence.

For what it’s worth, I watched Feinstein, holding hearings on Gangs in Washington, with Bratton, and Villagraosa..

She was trying to get funding for anti gang legislation, a bill she’s working on.

I found it a contradiction, that she supports the Amnesty bill, because one of the driving forces behind Gangs is immigration.

This fact has been observed for decades in L.A., that immigration feeds Gangs.

The Amnesty bill, doesn’t really help anyone, except corporations who will benefit from keeping immigrants under their thumb, if we’re going to bring them into our country, then we should treat them with respect and not make them struggle for 7 years to become citizens.

We should make it happen in 6 months to a year and let them compete on an equal basis with every other American worker.

But we’re not going to do that, because this bill is designed to expoit them, it talks out of both sides of it’s mouth.

It says we’re a nation of immigrants, but they came here illegally so they have to be punished, that’s just a lie, it’s all about making sure they work for slave wages.

Diane has her priorities all wrong, her priorities in Iraq and here in California.

She is a professional politician, much like Gray Davis, who is out of touch with what’s happening to the people here in California.

This was in response to the Feinstein critics. I was just curious, because I wasn’t aware of this “support” for Lieberman, vs Ned Lamont, from all of these other CALIFORNIA, NY and Illinois Senators. I mean, unless any of these Democrats hold dual citizenship between their home states and Conneticut, I’m not sure how their “support” for Lieberman over Ned Lamont could be “tallied” or otherwise calculated, unless you look at their vote.
And, unless they are voting in Conneticut as well as their own states, how else would we know if they supported Lieberman? And if any of them are voting in Connecticut’s election for Senate Representation, then something is even more seriously wrong than we’ve already discovered.

Meantime, I’m still curious about how you know that these people have all “supported” Liberman the slime, over Ned Lamonte?

Humpwhole servant. You sure get a lot of nasty responses. Good on you for stirring up liberal pansies. Liberals are more reprehensible than conservatives. Liberals are the ones who just can’t quite bring themselves to consider something as nasty as impeachment. Conservatives on the other hand have no problem lying through their teeth and stabbing their best friend in the back. I love conservatives. Even though they wouldn’t recognize conservation if I were wrapped in dollar bills.

regarding “the surge, bait and switch”, june 15. condi rice has referred to a “new middle east”. google it and you will get to a map drawn up by an army historian showing a radically different middle east.  iraq is divided up into 3 mini states. so, how to get iraq to do this?  topple the government, disband the secuity forces and military, fire the bureaucracy, allow the ministies to be destroyed, (except for the oil ministry), allow the cultual heritage to be looted and destroyed.  destroy the infrastructure, create conditions that force the well educated to flee and stir up sectarion conflict and provide insuficient forces to quell the violence, forcing ethnic cleansing and defacto partitioning of the country. This will create three weak miny states in need of foriegn security forces to protect them. then grab the oil. the destruction of iraq has been the goal all along and everything is going to plan: oh yeah, it’s not incompetence.

Here we haven’t even reached September, but the Democrats are waving the white flag saying the surge has failed.  Can liberals do anything else than surrender?  Guys, we are at war!!!  A war the Dems voted for.  Libs whining about the war only emboldens our enemies.

The quickest way to end the war is to defeat our enemies.

Goodness, (not at all) humble, Are you simply content to spout the party line regardless of truth or actual fact? Does it give you some kind of warm (possibly sexual) sensation to memorize and cite that which is lie, distortion or half truth? Are you so desperate to feel a sense of belonging that you would ally yourself to those who care not one whit for you but use you shamelessly to further enrich themselves at the expense of our nation?

You have a longish history of simplistic and thoughtless citing of propaganda that fails the test of accuracy, I wonder why?

Citing fact is not at all “waving the white flag”, in fact refusal on your part to understand what is occuring in Iraq is a far greater surrender, that of surrendering everything our founders fought and died to achieve.

True many democrats voted for the invasion of Iraq, something that all progressives should deplore. But the intelligence reports were so falsified, at the behest of Cheney and Bolton, that Democrats were operating under false information. Those two execrable individuals were reported to have visited CIA analysts daily, pressuring them to twist the facts to suit their purpose. Many of those folks, some with over twenty years of service, quit rather than commit such dishonesty.

I do not give the Democrats a pass but place the real blame where it obviously belongs, upon those who actively lied and by lying gained what they should not have been otherwise able to achieve, a war to further profit and to scare us all into allowing the subversion of our constitution.

Your stuff is designed to do exactly what, I wonder? Your every post is filled with garbage long ago dislosed to be bull shit, frankly, thus the obvious conclusion is less than favorable to your own intellect. Are you really such a sheep as all of that?

The plan is:

We stay in Iraq (then also in Iran, Syria, etc.),

destroying and occupying Arab and Muslim countries,

to advance Israel’s vainglorious strategic goals,

forever -

or until we are destroyed

(whichever comes first).

The fact that Iraq is no closer to not having an independent government after almost 5 years of occupation says it all. It was never “bait and switch” - there’s nothing to switch to. It’s all about delaying long enough to hand this mess off and put the next poor bastard who takes office into a Catch-22 situation. No matter how it turns out Bu$h will be able to say I told you so.
Congress - anyone not willing to impeach these scumbags now, get the f**k out, resign. You represent no one but yourselves. Imagine putting your country ahead of your party, I don’t think many of you can. It’s up to everyone to vote out anyone who refuses to act. Pelosi resign, for not even considering impeachment, you’re part of the problem, not the solution.

The problem with the Bush and Radical Republicans is they have no plan. The are people that are very well educated and they have yet to come up with a plan for their actions.
We are going after the terrorist is not a plan.
Support the troops is not a plan.
Not putting enough money to cover the known cost of

You call this a surprise?  How naive!  I’ve said it over and over again:  GEORGE BUSH HASN’T THE SLIGHTEST INTENTION WHATEVER OF LEAVING IRAQ in his lifetime, no matter what is happening there.  The only thing that will ever get the U.S. out of Iraq is the complete depletion of the oil reserves.  Although, if Darth Cheney’s stock in Halliburton takes a nose dive, that might point us in the direction of the exit.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who pays attention that BushCo uses all the tools of propaganda to accomplish its purposes. Karl Rove sees no need to demonstrate an integrity he never had. Machiavelli methods have been rendered obsolete as Rove has risen to a new level of justifying any amoral action with the goals of BushCo. Keeping control over Iraqi oil was always a goal that BushCo will not forsake. The focus on protecting oil over Iraqi lives was always tantamount in Bush policy. The embassy and the bases in Iraq are proof of his long-term goals of remaining there for the oil.

Moore called Bush the fictitious president for a reason. From the get-go, this has been a bait and switch administration. Dreamed up and played well by Karl Rove no doubt. And why not, the news media and much of the public continues to buy the same old bait and switch tactics over and over again. The idea that George Bush and his administration are incompetent is really a bait and switch tactic. We are incompetent, it wasn’t our fault. We are in charge so get out of our way or we’ll squash you. Compassionate conservatism is the bait. Unbelievable cold heartedness is the switch.

Mike, if you’ll check the record Senator Feinstein has been a champion for democracy, and for a fair and balanced approach to our foreign policies.

Unlike Boxer, Reid, Schumer, Salazar, Obama and Clinton, who all supported the newly freed neo con artist Joe Lieberman over the anti-war voice of Ned Lamont.

WaPo and others are a little behind in their ‘bait and switch’ analysis.
Last week, Lieutenant-General Martin Dempsey the outgoing head of U.S.-led efforts to reconstruct Iraq’s security forces over the past 22 months gave a much more candid and bizarre assessment.
On the one hand he says “..Iraqi security forces should be in a position to take control of 14 of Iraq’s 18 provinces by year’s end, although they will not be ready to fight on their own for some time”
-in essence he’s saying “we gave them guns but they don’t know how to shoot yet.

Then he says.."I’m a little concerned about ...[the remaining four provinces] Baghdad, Diyala, Salahaddin, Anbar.”

Wow! Just a little concerned is he?
Those four provinces house over 11,000,000 of the most militant Iraqis in all of Iraq’s total population of 27,000,000.

And what of Dempsey’s successes over the past 22 months supporting the logic behind ‘the surge’? --The surge of more Americans lives apparently needed to hold up the limp bodied Iraqi’s and pull their triggers for them?
“...the first “tranche” of Iraqi soldiers had been “frankly disastrous”.
“Not enough of them decided to deploy, they left more than half the unit behind. But we did not prep them very well. We asked them to go to Baghdad, but we didn’t tell them why very well, we didn’t tell them how long they would be there.”
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSCOL04729620 070610?pageNumber=1
At least he shows concerns for the Iraqis troops morale and welfare.

And I can’t finish this without throwing in the worst bait-and switch tactic ever by the Democrats in Congress.
Back in March the new Hoyer and Emanuel run Congress removed the Iran provision from another spending bill, requiring Bush to seek Congressional approval before an attack on Iran, on the grounds of strengthening the troop withdrawal provisions and benchmarks.

Since then they’ve not only approved the surge for more troops and stripped all troop withdrawal language, in its grandest switchaaroo of all, at leader Hoyers insistance, they sided with Bush and Exxon to steal Iraqis’s oil.

And that’s the despicable truth of it all..

well, what do you expect? congress has discovered that if they talk tough with w, et al, they can get on the trough and the regular feedings too!, seems like there is very few congressman that really care about the troops, just give’em the money, lower the bar on campaign contributions, we just need to keep all those troops over there so that oil production can be held down from iraq, and saudi arabia, or better know as bush cheney oil group, can control the industry and charge high prices for it, sweet what? just remember this, those guys getting up and speaking how great the immigration bill is are lying through their teeth, so we will have replacements for all the troops losing their lives in iraq, what a concept!

So, because of our military leaders, our children are getting chewed up in Iraq.

It’s all someone else’s falt. I can’t believe that our military leaders are going to keep taking it from an admistration, that doesn’t have a firm grip on morality. That still thinks it can lie, cheat and steal it’s way to victory.

Bush has run the military into the ground, then he turns around and blames them for what he did.

Then shame on you, shame on you!  There should not be one more word spoken unless it is a call to action!  Fuck all of the rhetoric!!!

Look it up (the word “action") in the dictionary...it is obvious we like to beat our gums but we do not like to actually DO something.  Doing something means getting off of your ass and “doing” something otherwise known as action!!!

Get a grip and look at what’s going on here!  For the first time in my 62 years; I see a real possibility of us losing our very real freedom...no shit Sherlock!

You can piss and moan about a lot of crap...but who of us is really ready to give up our hard won freedoms?  That would dishonour every soldier and civilian who died in WWII...that’s about 30 million people...do you really care about that or do you just want to piss about?  This is the time...it really is the time...make a decision...or just shut up and go away...do something useful in your life for once!

From a psychological perspective, the Bush/Cheney administration and its neocon allies succeeded in promoting the misguided and destructive war in Iraq by targeting our core concerns about vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness. Looking ahead, they will likely try to sell us a continuing occupation of Iraq—or an attack on Iran—in much the same way. I examine these warmongering appeals and how to counter them in a new 10-minute video entitled “Resisting the Drums of War.” It’s available for viewing on YouTube HERE.

Anyone who believed the occupation of Iraq might come to an end quickly after September is terribly naive. The occupation will go on long after September with the whole-hearted support of the Democrats, who will sell out once again, as they always do, loosen the purse strings, and give Bush whatever he wants. Our sons and daughters will continue to die in a country torn by a civil war we fostered. There is no end in sight.
