| His Own Worst EnemyPosted on Mar 13, 2007
The unctuous owl has hooted again. Only this time, Dick Cheney’s cave has been invaded by the sudden sunlight of judicial and congressional revelations, making him appear more pathetic than intimidating as he once again charges critics of the Iraq war with giving aid and comfort to the enemy. “A full validation of the al-Qaida strategy” are the shameless, slandering words the most powerful vice president in American history flung Monday at congressional critics of the war—including those from his own party. While he is still as dangerous as any cornered animal, Cheney stands brightly revealed as the main culprit in cherry-picking the evidence to make the case for a stupid, failed war. He has been exposed as a vindictive, inflexible ideologue, who attempts to destroy all who publicly disagree with him, such as former Ambassador Joseph Wilson and Wilson’s CIA agent wife, Valerie Plame Wilson. His extensive ties and loyal political service to energy and defense companies such as Halliburton (which now, in a burst of honesty, is moving its headquarters to Dubai), reveal him to be a man of deep corruption. Like Nixon during Watergate, Cheney is now shrilly on the defensive. “National security made me do it!” he insists, clinging to pseudo-patriotism, that last refuge of scoundrels. But it is an argument that no longer flies with a public that has caught on to the rhythm of his screechy lies. After all, this is the leader, dominating a weak president, who pushed so hard for a complete occupation of a Muslim country not linked to 9/11. A man who hung his arguments for adventuristic war on known falsehoods, such as the attempted purchase of yellowcake uranium in Niger. In fact, the recent terrorist bombing in Afghanistan that came too close to ending the vice president’s life aptly underscored just how reckless the decision was to direct our policy away from the religious fanatics of al-Qaida, based in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and instead pour our resources into overthrowing Osama bin Laden’s sworn enemy, Saddam Hussein. Of course, things have changed quite a bit since then for formerly secular Iraq. Ironically, Cheney’s remarks on Monday correctly evoke the nightmare world of religious fratricide that is the Bush administration’s legacy to Iraq. If the United States withdraws, “Shiite extremists backed by Iran could be in all-out war with Sunni extremists, led by al-Qaida and remnants of the old Saddam regime,” Cheney told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the leading pro-Israel lobbying organization. What he neglected to mention is that those Shiite extremists are militias associated with the very pro-Iran political parties that the Bush administration brought to power and sustains in the surreally isolated Green Zone, or that our presence in Iraq is the main recruitment tool for the Sunni militants who oppose the Shiite majority. The argument for troop withdrawal is that, after four years of occupation, the presence of U.S. troops on every street corner in Baghdad is part of the problem, not the solution. As the French learned in Algeria, the Russians in Afghanistan and the Israelis in the Palestinian territories, foreign occupation is the mother’s milk of terrorism. It is thus Cheney who has played right into al-Qaida’s plans, heightening tension between the U.S. and the Arab and Muslim worlds by evoking an image of U.S. imperial conquest of Mideast oil resources. His palpable disdain for civil liberties, bald-faced lies and support for torture have even tarnished the reputation of democracy itself, which has to please tyrants and theocrats everywhere. As if we needed more evidence, the conviction last week of Cheney’s former chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, provided ample evidence of the vice president’s bottomless cynicism. Surely congressional investigators will now ask Cheney, among other awkward questions, what he meant in that note he wrote to himself prior to the conviction stating, “Not going to . . . sacrifice the guy who was asked to stick his neck in the meat grinder because of the incompetence of others.” Who could have ordered Libby to break the law, other than his boss? If the occupation had gone well, of course, Cheney wouldn’t be under fire. But as it heads into its fifth year, the only winners in this war are the aforementioned radical Shiites, Iran, mercenaries, al-Qaida, oil companies and military contractors such as Halliburton, which has scooped up $27 billion in contracts paid with our taxes. Now Halliburton is making its home in an undemocratic oil-garchy so distasteful to Americans that we wouldn’t let a company from there manage our ports. Perhaps Cheney, in disgrace, can build his retirement cave there. Previous item: Fabricated Evidence, Round Two? Next item: The Real Voter Fraud Elsewhere: . CommentsAre you a Truthdig member yet? Kaos...Maxwell Smart...Agent 99 perfect! there you have it: Monolithic Communism really was just a TV comedy; not to be confused with a very real Gulag and all attendant mechanics to disappear one there; but even in Europe (where Soviet agents could easily reach, unlike Central America, for example) Monolithic Communism never posed the advertised threat GLADIO was designed to undermine though its distorting Strategy of Tension an operation directed, by the way, at one point by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lyman Louis Lemnitzer, author of Project Northwoods, which was not implemented. A project which called for various false flag actions, including simulated or real state-sponsored acts of terrorism (such as hijacked planes) on U.S. and Cuban soil.
In fact, if the Dulles Brothers hadn’t bludgeoned Truman with the Domino Myth convincing him not to accept the hand of friendship and partnership extended by our WWII ally in Southeast Asia, the nationalist partisan Ho Chi Minh, and rather ferried the French in a US flotilla back to the colony they’d abandoned in the face of Japanese aggression, the Vietnam War would never have happened.
Now the Myth of Islamofascism has been bunged up to replace the faded Myth of Monolithic Communism. It’s good to have you around, JB, to remind us of just how ridiculous was the shilling and the silly media regalia surrounding the great myth of the era of our childhood. And, to open the door to the discussion of how important it is for oligarchs to foster such myths to fabricate enemies and divert attention from their own mendacious sociopath habits pure Nietzschien craving for endless war.
The ultimate irony in the current tale of woe is Rummys having managed to convince political leaders in former East Block satellites to re-commission some retired Communist-era prisons to serve in his Torture Gulag giving new meaning to his new Europe declaration for the regimes curious coalition of the willing, of which many, by the way (Poland for example) really only joined up to try to get back some of their debt that went South with Saddam. When it was clearly gone forever, so were they from the coalition talk about Kaos?”
BTW whod dare ??? to doubt your a somewhat !!! intelligent dude, JB but, as is too frequently the case: intelligence is confused with education and visa versa Illgramaticus argumentum ad hominem not withstanding.

oops, forgot, JBs trolling for illumination OK then under the klieg lights we go, RE: “...GLADIO ring a bell?” GLADIO, operational name for the NATO-authorized, CIA-funded, MI-6 directed Strategy of Tension as played out through psuedo-gangs such as Red Brigade in Italy and Beider Manhoff in Germany, and responsible for the deaths of hundreds, is so well documented and so thoroughly exposed in Italian Parliament hearings (ca. 1990), any denial is abject proof of either complicity, ignorance or delusion.
And just to make sure it’s perfectly clear what we’re talking about; it’s FALSE FLAG TERRORISM oldest trick in the book intelligence deception weapon of choice by hegemons since Nero burned Rome.
Now, popular education to FALSE FLAG TERRORISM is important. If JB chooses to come on with prat falls and transparently phony denial as a way of drawing attention to FALSE FLAG TERRORISM, who can stop him? Our local daily is full of the sorts of liberals who leave the room when a fight breaks out. They regularly publish dreadfully authored letters by ill-informed red-necks, clearly to expose their intellectual poverty. Personally I don’t think “playing the buffoon” to make the denial look even more implausible is really the best way to draw attention to FALSE FLAG TERRORISM, but again, it’s a free country and still an open forum here at Truthdig. Now having said that it’s a “free country” doesn’t mean those trying desperately to manipulate geopolitics will not continue to do so through FALSE FLAG TERRORISM.
FALSE FLAG TERRORISM has a long and spectacular history. There are literally hundreds of documented incidents; those most notable in memorable history: Gulf of Tonkin Incident, August 2, 1964, to expand the war in Vietnam; Gleiwitz incident, a staged attack on August 31, 1939 against the German radio station to launch the invasion of Poland; a bomb, planted by Japanese secret agents, exploding under a Japanese-owned express train in Manchuria Sept. 18, 1931, to start the war in Manchuria. King David Hotel bombing, July 22, 1946: Irgun Zvai Leumi terrorists, commanded by Menachem Begin, bombed the British office wing of Jerusalems King David Hotel, hung on Palestinians, of course. The most common ingredient in all such events is IMPERIALISM, the mother of FALSE FLAG TERRORISM.
Vigilance and awareness is essential. Any of us could be sacrificed in an instant, as were those on 9/11 to a FALSE FLAG provocation. Watch out especially for drills, a simple way to covertly conduit a FALSE FLAG provocation. Just as on 9/11, it starts as a drill. Virtually all the players think its a drill, but one mole tweaks it just enough to flip it live, and suddenly its real terror a FALSE FLAG provocation, destined to be hung on the enemy. What to do? Challenge the drills. Protest the drills. Dont allow drills in your backyard. Any one could go live at any moment, and suddenly you and yours are victims in a FALSE FLAG provocation.
So, be forewarned, if WMD go off anywhere in the world, dont look to the cave, bin Laden, the laptop; dont look to the Axis of Evil, look to Cheney and Cheneys handlers.

nothing happens in a vacuum !! “if” the government did do as you say, they would have just sank a cruise liner or aircraft Carrier, like the “Kennedy” that they just decommissioned” they could never keep it secret for somin like that would haunt the accomplisher’s and at least one would tell all !! were is he or she 6 yrs later ?? they would not have caused so much havoc in Manhattan !! the economic heart of the nation (and their money) that’s why the terrorist picked it, and tried to do it in 92 (did you forget 92) on top of that, any top secret “NWO” undercover tyrants, willing to be so evil, and kill so many innocents, for their own goal of world conquest, and personnel profit and power, would not allow people like you, to say so, about them !! a site like this, would have been shut down yrs ago !! you and all the rest of the conspiracy theorist, would have been killed off, one by one, or ten by ten !! we would not have had the 02, 04, and 06 elections. hell ?? they would just have a coup and be done with it !! your logic makes no sense, if you follow it through !! if the evil empire and Darth Vader caused 9/11 far more than a understaffed feckless invasion of Iraq would have been next !!! so no matter which angle you look at, your theories, from every angle, points to it being pure foolishness, with no logical rational, behind yours, and others, ridicules accusations !!
i don’t know why i bother, but i will say again !! anyone who is going to blame the US government for blatantly planing and causing 9/11 has lost his sense of reason !! this says volumes about your mental makeup, and tells all who you say such things too, that your out there and not to be taken seriously !! many will never say such to you to your face, but i will using this medium, give it up you point blank wrong !!

Ah Europa...such fond memories...I feel it calling, drawing me there, probably forevermore before too long, before the petro-arms-drugs dollar fully collapses converting all assets to Euros is the smart move many finance oligarchs are making that move, but thats neither here nor there. Ah Europa where every little berg from mid-sized town on up has an opera house, symphony, exquisite dance companies and more theatres than you can imagine...great cuisine, great wines, museums are virtually free, great public transportation, public heath care and public rest rooms in every city (imagine that) and so many fewer TVs. Much easier to avoid their vapid din. My God, why am I still here? Oh, I forgot. Im trying to improve it. Sorry, my mistake. It seems impossible.

>>> I guess you mean proof
Angel is next.....
Here’s Tarpley’s take on it…
WT: Look, this is a forgotten clue of 9/11, which seems to me is the most important, because this is when the invisible government speaks. You may remember that at one point during the morning, 10:00 probably on 9/11, a death threat against Bush came into the Secret Service, saying, Angel is next. It essentially means, Air Force One will be shot down as the next step in these developments.
Angel is next. Implies the top-secret codename or codeword for the Presidential aircraft, Air Force One. I go into intelligence agency reports, now let me just make a parenthesis, (9/11 didnt occur in a vacuum, it occurs in a world in which there are others watching. Whos watching? Well, Russias watching, Israels watching very much, the French are watching, theres Germans, Japan ), what I found is 3 separate reports, one is the Réseau Voltaire which is obviously benefiting from leaks from French intelligence. The Réseau Voltaire version, which came out September 20th (or) 25th, says that the Angel is next. phone call came complete with top secret codeword, across a variety of agencies, suggesting that the people that were behind the attacks were a powerful faction inside the US intelligence community and government in general.
And that secondly, they had the nuclear launch codes in their possession. This report goes on to say that the Bush team thought during most of the day, that they were the target of a military coup. And it was only somehow later in the day that the situation was recomposed. Now what would it mean?
Essentially it means that the invisible government force behind 9/11 tells Bush that he must respond by stating that its Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, the Arabs, the Islamic world, and that whats gonna happen is the invasion of Afghanistan, and above all the beginning of the war of civilizations that Samuel Huntington writes about. An open-ended aggression of the United States against the Arab and Islamic world.
If not inclined to read Tarpleys 911 Synthetic Terror - Made in USA, heres 5 minutes on the topic of the Shadow Government, of Iran-Contra vintage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1FFcHN6RJI&mode=re lated&search;=
Tarpleys lecture - long version here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2699841318334 319800&hl=en
Tarpley is clearly the most incisive analyst on this issue. 911 Synthetic Terror - Made in USA was at the top of the Amazon.com book sales rankings last fall. You dont see interviews with him at Truthdigg, Democracy Now or Charlie Rose simply because his thesis, that false flag terrorism is at the heart of the strangelove neocons Global War of Terror, with 911 as the lynchpin to it all, is still the media 3rd Rail. Anyone in the MSM discussing 911 seriously (i.e. beyond the coverup) is immediately fried and their funding is ended. And, in this way freedom of speech is silenced in our so-called democratic republic.
Glad you asked for this, Jeff. It needs to get out.

To clarify, I should have written (in the first paragraph) that an ideologue “can never be wrong on the fundamentals” and (in the second paragraph),” that, while the faithful may make mistakes, the faith itself can never be mistaken.”

Another dazzling commentary by Bob Scheer. The whole point, though, with folks like Dick Cheney - and Bush, and Condi, and Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz, and all the others - is that once you have equipped yourself with an ideology - a “political religion” - you can never be wrong. You are always in the right, no matter how badly you foul up.
As someone brought up in a “regular-religion” which specialized in absolute truth, handed down from one high, I’m accutely aware that the benefit of such a creed for the faithful is that, while the faithful can be wrong, “the faith” itself never can be.
So it follows that there is no need to do a reality-check, so long as you are, so to speak, “armed” with what your “political religion” tells you is the only thing to do. Such reflexive, stereotyped behavior is, of course, a powerful benefit to one’s adversaries internationally—Bush and company always telegraph their punches to whoever happens to the the “U.S. Enemy of the Month.” That it has been so often said of the reactionary old guard since the days of the French Revolution that they “forget nothing, and learn nothing.”
When fascism was ascendant in Europe, and American adademic philosopher, Ralph Barton Perrry (renowned for his two volume biography of William James and for his devotion to principle. He was investigated by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee in the years just before his death) wrote that the philosophical school of Idealism had been in large part responsible for the rise of totalitarian ideologies of the right and left, because in such a worldview, the standard one looks to in “checking” what is right to do, is a verbal one (the “authoritative” works of Hegel or Kant or Marx or Giovanni Gentile, or whoever among the intellectual progeny of German Idealism propounded the theories backing up your ideology) not to the world of experience. You consult the “sacred books” instead of surveying the results of your actions.
The opposite position is pragmatism—or, if not pragmatism, instrumentalism, which is Dewey’s version - and it was usually associated, at least in America, with liberalism.
But the problem with liberalism is that in the political arena, it is no more than an ethos, and in America since 1980, it has faced a creed or an ideolog which holds that it has the right to abolish its oppositon, which is always illegitimate. No one in the modern era has ever spelled out just what an American liberal believes in. So the field has been left the ideologues of the right, with their reactionary political ideology, to appropriate to themselves all the symbols and myths related to “What It Is To Be An American.”
And, a general deterioration in education levels among Americans - especially education in civics and politics, hasn’t helped here either.
Over and over, I see announcers on Fox News speaking of Bush as “The Commander-in-Chief,” as if he is every American’s “El Jeffe.” One Fox announcer even used the phrase while interviewing Supreme Court Justice Bryers on the latter’s new book. Justice Bryers, a liberal, did not challenge the Fox News announcer.
But the constitution says he is only commander in chief of the armed forces - after being told what to do by Cheney, of course.

As for the coup, about 10 AM that fateful day, the POTUS was targeted by a threat to have Air Force One blown out of the sky as it took off from Sarasota fully plausible with no fighter coverage for 45 min, the nation under attack and reports of perhaps a dozen hijacked airliners. The threat was made in the well-documented call: Angel is next, accompanied by enough top-secret code to convince the POTUS team that the coup plotters could actually start a nuclear war, i.e. launch missiles. This is why Bush jetted to Offut to take physical control of the arsenal. This is why he called Putin, as per the coup plotters instructions, to report that the US is taking over the Middle East and Russia must not interfere.
Not to let him off the hook, so to speak; on the contrary, 09/11/01 President George W. Bush surrendered the nation. The point is this: Ranting over Bush/Cheney is somewhat irrational. NWO operatives direct the entire Global War of Terror. The MSM (Main Stream Media) is manipulated primarily through extensive false flag terrorism total distortion of geopolitics. e.g. Who can disprove a so-called suicide bombing? How much of the presumed bomber is left to be examined? And who dares question the authorities? There is plenty of terror, but the Global War of Terror is a total fraud. The goal is to fail all states whose despots do not follow NWO orders. At this point in time its all to salvage the collapsing petro-arms-drugs dollar. Complete analysis by Webster G. Tarpley in 911 Synthetic Terror - Made in USA, Progressive Press - http://www.amazon.com/9-11-Synthetic-Terror-First/dp/0 930852311
If she lives long enough, watch very closely what Sibel Edmonds has to report about all this. Moreover, since the 911 coup is an open secret in DC, the scramble is on to rein in the madmen before they start WWIII without blowing the cover up, triggering the biggest constitutional crisis since the Civil War and precipitating a global financial meltdown.
This is all very spooky stuff. Dismissing it with wacko conspiracy theory is, by now, just a common cliche. Even Noam Chomsky and Alexander Cockburn use it. As from them, its obvious what they have to protect: marginal careers, salaries, benefits, etc. At this point, 911 Truth is still the MSM and academic 3rd rail. Besides, how can they admit theyve been so wrong for so long about blowback? If the response to pursuit of 911 Truth is yet another cliche, give it up already, no, no, no. Its the regime that cites (as per NWO instructions) the lessons of 911, every time it curtails another liberty or expands the aggression in the Middle East. The 911 Myth must be exploded. The NWO must be denied false flag terrorism as their weapon of choice.
Finally, consider this: Could this regime lie about literally everything except 911? The 911 criminals and cover-up coconspirators must be brought to justice.

Are you aware that the United States government not only supplies miltary protection, It affords financial protection directly! Investments overseas are guaranteed by the US, if for some reason something should happen to them. Through many programs which I forget their names at the moment,....From risks such as becoming nationalized as many American companies overseas were during the 20’s and 30’s ( see Mexico, Japan etc.) China now.
Isn’t that sweet? What risk? You lose your job and become the co-signer on the investment that helped move it overseas!...But you don’t share in the profits....no, only the losses.
That’s when big business wants to share!
Course you could buy stock? You think the government should get a piece of the action for carrying the risk...but they didn’t negotiate those terms.
So I guess it’s just the taxes and cut Social Security for us instead.

As a veteran, that is one of the things that irritated me the most - politicans who did not serve denigrationg those who did and who were heroes, and then they have the gall to pretend that they are expert war strategists. Times have changed greatly since WWII. Returning vets who ran for public office used their service as a badge of honor and the public respected their war service.to Of all of the neocons who planned this war, I believe only Rumsfeld had active military service.

I disagree with those who claim Cheney lacks courage. Giving gung ho, bellicose speeches to veterans by a draft dodger indicates he dares to do what few of us would dare to do. I was previously baffled by the success he and his cohorts had in getting us into this midadventure in Iraq. However, with the recent disclosures of how our maimed veterans are treated in our service hospitals I realize we Americans are now living in a far different world than when I, and 16 million others, served in World War 2. Then war heros were honored and respected; today the most admired are those who avoided serving in combat and this is proven by the veterans who have lost recent elections to those who never served. I do wonder how much support this war would have if our media gave more coverage to those male soldiers maimed by losing their genitals which is the most unmentioned war wound today?

But he wasnt smart enough to learn Boyds military strategy, since, Boyd died in 1997, to apply to Iraq. Anyone whos read Boyds Patterns of Conflict knows Boyd was the greatest holistic strategist since Sun Tzu and knows that Bush&Cheney;and the neo Candy Ass Cons have no military game.

Americans need to pawn their TV sets. Television is responsible for brainwashing the United States like no other country has ever been brainwashed.
They do it not only with outright propaganda---perhaps some of the most insidious junk they feed us is the steady diet of commercials that turn us into jello-brained CONSUMERS who are taught to only want more, More, MORE!!! We’re never even taught to really stop and appreciate all the benefits of America; no, they simply turn us against each other and make us feel inadequate if we don’t have the newest, most expensive gadgets & toys, the perfect bodies, the perfect partners, etc.
They get us so insecure and dejected that we don’t even trust our own instincts anymore. Americans have been dumbed-down for a long time now. They want us filling our minds with sports statistics & other asinine trivialities---maybe if Americans paid as much attention to politics as they do to sports, we wouldn’t be in our current mess.

My question, is why not go after the bunch by saying....Look, we can prove the electrion win was based on fraud in both 2000 and 2004, vote rigging, purging voter lists,, taking away legit voters right to vote on purpose, machine tampering, not counting votes etc. etc. Thus these people have no legitamte claim to power and therefore no impeachment is needed. Since he is not an elected Pres.,and neither is the VP truly elected.
If that’s the case why should they have pardon powers or any other powers of those offices? How can pardons be handed out,as were likely to see, if they are not legitamate office holders? Let’s just have an annulment type approach. Didn’t belong here in the first place so everything else gets approached from that perspective? Just a thought that needs more work. I don’t think there’s a statute of limitations on this type of Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization Act type crime.

Cheney is on track to accomplish exactly what he set out to do and that is to destabilize the mid east causing the fracturing of the Muslim countries by civil wars fought along religious, tribal, ethnic and familial lines.
The neo cons, including Cheney of course, thought that the mid east countries were ripe for civil wars because their populations were suppressed by dictators that were placed and maintained in power largely by America. Iraq, Iran and Syria are exceptions becuase we had no direct control over their dictators and thus they made the ‘axis of evil’ list.
I believe the neo cons original plan was to fracture Iraq into three states with a weak federal government and a stooge in power taking orders from America. With Iraq oil in the hands of western oil companies we would have the power to influence the world price of oil. OPEC would no longer have the power to set the price of oil on the world market. Western oil companies have already dictated the new Iraqi oil law and its all about PSAs. Basically PSAs are a theft of Iraqi oil resources. Malaki has said that he has untill June to pass the oil law or he believes that he will be ousted, and he is probably right. Right now it doesnt look as if the Iraqi Assembly is going to pass the new oil law.
So, we come to the real ‘plan b’. Leave Iraq mired in a civil war that will rage for years untill all sides are exhausted. Mean while we instigate through overt or covert action more civil wars in the mid east. Iran is most likely our next target because they also have large oil and gas reserves. Saudia Arabia could easily become involved in this inferno as would Syria.
Where does all this end? Why would we do this?
Only 12% of our oil comes from the mid east. 14% from Venesuela, a like amount from Columbia, more from Mexico, more from Canada, some from Nigeria, etc. Bush just returned from a trip to South America where he was most interested in importing ethanol made from sugar cane into the US. Its cheap and available.
The developing countries of China and India and the developed countries of Japan and South Korea are very dependent on mid east oil. A conflagration in the mid east will cripple their economies and slow their economic rivalries with the US.
The neo cons believe that when the mid east wars stop the once powerfull OPEC nations will be a bunch of mini states and Israel will be left as the strongest regional power.
Will it work? I dont know and I dont think anyone can predict the outcome of such an endeavor. There are too many variables.
I detest the entire plan and the people that devised and set it in motion. I am living in an America that I hardly recognize. But for Cheney, the neo cons and their Christian and Israeli Zionist pals its just another day at the office.

How could we have imagined the botched 2000 election would bring us the horror of the misguided bunch led by Cheney. (I shudder as I recall another with that sir name who terrified millions on the Silver Screen.)
But impeachment is NOT the answer at this point; it will only take Congress’ focus from things that absolutley requires its attention and action. However, we must prosecute Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, et al for their crimes against humanity once they’re out of office.
