Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski (ret.), a veteran of the Pentagon with firsthand experience of the administration’s cherry-picking of intelligence, reveals why Bush thinks he can win a war with Iran, why few politicians are serious about withdrawal and why “when they call Iraq a success, they mean it.”

JAMES HARRIS: This is Truthdig. James Harris sitting down with Josh Scheer, and on the phone we have a special guest. She is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, formerly working for the Pentagon, The National Security Agency. Needless to say, she knows a lot about intel and a lot about what took place and what went on before we went into Iraq and what went on with that intel. Many questions have been asked in recent weeks, obviously in recent years about what we knew, what was fabricated, what was made up. On the phone we have somebody who has been vociferous in her effort to out the wrongdoings of people like Douglas Feith and people like Donald Rumsfeld. So, Karen Kwiatkowski, welcome to Truthdig.

KAREN KWIATKOWSKI: Thanks for having me.

JAMES HARRIS: It’s our pleasure. I want to start, not talking about Douglas Feith, but I want to get your opinion about Iraq. We know that British troops and Tony Blair have decided that they’re out. We’ve seen the commitment of other nations drop by 17 countries and our biggest partner, England, is now out. Why do you think they’re out and Bush is still in?  Well we know why Bush is still in. Why now?

KAREN KWIATKOWSKI: It is towards the end of Tony Blair’s long, long term of duty there as the Prime Minister. And the other thing is, the British very much oppose, in spite of the fact that there are some Rupert Murdoch newspapers in Great Britain, some conservative papers, pseudo conservative I should say, not truly conservative. Truly conservatives, true conservatives have opposed this adventure from the beginning. But in spite of the small, loud pro-war faction in London, most people in Britain recognize this for what it is. They have some experience in this kind of thing with, both in Middle East, particularly in Iraq years ago when they left in dishonor. Another time when they tried to occupy Baghdad, years and years ago, and also their experience with terrorism and movements of independents or what have you with Ireland, much more recent memory for many of the people in Great Britain. I don’t think Britain’s economy can afford it. Certainly they see the writing on the all, why get, why not get out now while George Bush is still there than be stuck with, stuck holding the bag when a Democratic president takes over and pulls the troops out abruptly in 2008, 2009. So I think there’s many reasons why they’re doing it. Some people say it is, it is because of Tony Blair’s concern over his legacy. If he doesn’t bring the troops home, his legacy will be that he left Britain in a quagmire. They are in a quagmire now and maybe he doesn’t want to leave office with that being on his record, a lot of reasons. Mainly it’s the right thing to do, the people of Britain want those troops home. And I guess their government is listening. Unlike ours.

JAMES HARRIS:  The highly speculative people have said they’re out because we’re going into Iran. You might’ve read the news…

KAREN KWIATKOWSKI:  Well yeah, I don’t… I had not seen that connection made, but I certainly am alarmed at the daily signs that indeed this country is getting ready to instigate an attack on Iran. All the signs are there, the suggestions that Iranian bombs are killing American soldiers, that’s not true, but it’s certainly been made in, I think every American newspaper, the suggestion that Iran is somehow killing Americans. The suggestion that Iran has nuclear weapons, is imminently close to nuclear weapons. That is not true but that’s been, those claims are made, even by this Administration. The idea that we have two carrier battle groups currently in the region and in fact I just saw today, Admiral Walsh, one of the big guys in the Navy said that we’re very concerned about what Iran is doing even more so than Al Qaeda.  So there, all the signs are there that we are being, we’re going to wake up one morning soon, very soon, and we will be at war with Iran. We will have bombed them in some sort of shock and awe campaign destroying many lives and setting back US relations even further than we’ve already done it with Iraq.

JOSH SCHEER: I want to continue on Iran. You spent obviously many years in the military and you talk in those kind of terms that many people maybe not know about. Can we not just politically, and not just in the region, but can we support another war in another country? Right now we’re in Afghanistan, we’re in Iraq. Can we feasibly actually go into Iran, or is this going to be a shock and awe campaign?

KAREN KWIATKOWSKI: You know, I think the, one of the big reasons that Bush and Cheney think they can do Iran is that they believe, well, they’re hearing from the Air Force and the Navy, two of the three main branches of our military, the two that have been left out of the glory of Iraq, you see. And those guys want a piece of the action, and so they’re advertising to the Administration and publicly, I mean you can read it for yourself, the Air Force and the Navy have targets they believe they can overwhelmingly hit their targets, deep penetration, possibly nuclear weapons, I mean, nothing is off the table as Dick Cheney says “nothing is off the table.” And the delivery of these weapons, whether they’re conventional or nuclear will be naval and Air Force. They’ll be Navy from the sea and Air Force form long range bombers and some of the bases that we have around the… so I don’t think, certainly, I don’t know, I’m not in the Army, wasn’t in the Army, I was in the Air Force, I don’t think the Army could support any type of invasion of Iran and they wouldn’t’ want to. I’m sure that they’ve, they’ve had enough with Iraq and our reserves are in terrible condition. We’ve got huge problems in the Army and in the Reserve system. So I don’t think there’s any intention to go into Iran, but simply to destroy it and to create havoc and disruption and humanitarian crisis and topple perhaps the government of Ahmadinejad. We want to topple that government. Yeah, we’ll do it with bombs from a distance. I don’t know if you call that shock and awe, we’ve been advertising it for a long, long time. It will not be a surprise to the Iranians if we do it.

When the so-called american state citizens wake up and remove their heads from where the sun don’t shine, maybe they will realize that ‘their’ government has run amok.
The Federalist Papers described in detail how the government should function and they abhored a democracy; however, look where we are today!

George Santayana said that unless we learn from the mistakes of the past we are bound to repeat them, and we have not learned a thing from the past!

“Terrorism to the extent that it is a crime, should’ve been treated like a crime, but instead we made it a war.”

A group of young affluent well-educated Saudis hijacked several planes on 9/11/01, and this CRIME became the justification for the “war on terror.”

The magnitude of this offense, and the rush to validate this crime as grounds for “war” has fueled the skepticism and cynicism surrounding this event.

“They believed what they read in the papers, and what they read in the papers, particularly The New York Times and The Washington Post had been, for the most part, planted by The Administration.”

The overwhelming news stories, TV coverage, and pundits who pounded the public with deceptive information, and let’s not forget, Collin Powell a highly respected official, who gave the speech of a lifetime at the U.N. and compromised his soul for eternity.

Replay it if you can, and you will be stunned to see his “performance” and how he prostituted a lifetime of principles in one afternoon in a trip to Manhattan.

“Congress has never been asked to declare war on Iraq. And they won’t be asked to declare war on Iran even though we will conduct that war.”

And now that those “guys” have had their way with us, and their premeditated agenda has been executed, we are left with a modified version of the U.S. government; a version that for those who are still cognizant of political affairs,  find rather sinister and disturbing.

What is so alarming, is how fragile a democracy is and that one or two shocking events, create the foundation for its demise; it has also demonstrated the powerlessness of the American public when confronted with a moneyed corporatocracy; a formidable military; and a dangerous media fueled by political ideologues; how easily we allowed our Constitution and Bill of Rights to be ransacked.

What makes this insane policy toward Iran politically possible?

    Is it oil?

No. Don’t blame it on Americans who “want to keep driving their SUV’s”. Everyone knows that initiating a war against Iran will drive gas prices into the stratosphere. This will make it economically impossible for people “to keep driving their SUV’s”.

No, it’s not oil. It’s Israel. The infernal Israel lobby, powered by the insane passion of millions of delusional Zionists - both Christian and Jewish - generates the political pressure here.

Great. Everybody’s PO’ed about the war, neocons, illegal aliens,“free trade”,H1B visas,Ike’s military-industrial complex, etc.,etc.. And yet fewer and fewer of us who even bother voting anymore keep putting the same crew of cowards, draft dodgers and crooks back into office come election time. Short of another civil war, the only solution that I see to this mess is to vote out every incumbent in every election until these guys get the message that they work for us and not Exxon or IBM.

Who cares what this liberal discontented former military employee has to say. She said nothing while employed. Now she decides to spill her guts. She is a coward and got to her former rank without real military experience but by affirmative action for women in the military.
She is just another one of those employees of the military that has no understanding of the need to get rid of brutal dictators and their regimes. Just look at Hitler and other infamous men of the past who murdered millions of people. It was the same type of pacifist liberal mentality that allowed them to carry out their plans of world domination.
President Bush did the Iraqi people and the world a favor getting rid of Sadaam Hussein and his regime. Now he has Iran crapping in their pants and maybe they will come to their senses through peaceful means. If not, then it is time to militarily eliminate that regime before they become too powerful with nuclear weapons.
Screw Scheer and her for their cowardly behavior and uninformed views of what needs to be done to get rid of evil in this world.
Iran is the main source of terrorism in this world. It is also looking to develope nuclear weapons which would be very dangerous with a radical Islamic regime in power. Their regime needs to be stopped. If it takes military action, so let it be.

I absolutely agree that the only way to stop these people is to stop giving them money. I have stopped paying taxes and I will not pay taxes until I see some leadership that respects the US constitution. Bush and crew are fascists. We are no different right now than those folks in Germany as Hitler took control of their lives. We are committing an Arab holocaust and trying to take over the world. Please, please try to wake your friends and associates up. That is what I am trying to do.

#56080 Leo Brux touches on something…

Not only China but also Russia and other very powerful countries and groups of countries are viewing the US aggressions with increasing alarm.

Putin has started to rebuild Russias military and other countries and groups of countries, including the EU, aren’t going to let the US tyrannise the world.

You know, the leaders of the rest of the world aren’t stupid.  They’ve seen megalomaniacs in motion before and they know how to deal with insanity run wild.

If bombs start getting lobbed we’re all in harms way.  Except our glorious leaders who already have their deep seated bunkers in place for them to cower in while the world goes up in flames above their stupid heads.

    #56122:
“We are the only country with bases in every continent, and every major counrty. Take your pic, Japan, thailand, Korea, England, Australia, Iceland, Panama, Germany, Italy, turst me the list goes on…. . No foreign bases are within our borders.”

The gist of your comment is right, though that’s not entirely true—Germany in fact does have a base within US borders, the Fort Bliss camp in Texas (which is German Air Force IIRC).  Also, German pilots train at the Holloman Air Force base in New Mexico.  The locales where they train are considered to be sovereign territory for Germany, and the trainees are German citizens under protection of German laws, analogous to US forces abroad.

Still, German military forces aren’t training there as preparation for launching invasion against oil-rich Middle Eastern countries, it’s just a matter of taking advantage of state-of-the-art training facilities.

So, your point is still very much valid.  The USA has bases in something like 65% of the world’s countries, and in the majority of those places—where there’s an element of arrogant intervention with their nations’ policies—the residents of the other nation vehemently do not want us there.  This was the main casus belli for the 9/11 attacks, after all—it was the rage about the US bases in Saudi Arabia, being used to launch bombing raids on Arab farmers in Iraq.  We can’t just militarily colonize the world like this, it only invites fury against us in return.

Shocked at these bases? I found out yesterday on Democracy Now that the US has 737 permanent military bases in 120 countries. The President of Ecuador ordered the closing of an AFB last week saying that when Ecuador is allowed to open a base in Miami the US will be able to have a base in Ecuador.

I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa in the 60’s. I served in Viet Nam in 68-69. I found out more than I ever wanted to know about what our government has done in the world. But the shrub and his handlers have really gone over the top. If we drop a nuclear bomb in Iran you better find yourself a gun as we are either going to have to have a revolution or we are going to have to fight the rest of the world as they will not tolerate our continued bad behavior. It will be goodbye USA, we hardly knew ya!

Karen has been in the spot light before.
“Like sunspots, eruptions of extreme violence are part and parcel to the continued existence of a nation, or two or three. Our own Thomas Jefferson remarked on this, in his reference to blood spilled periodically by patriots and tyrants.”
Later in the article: “There may yet be some good to come from this most recent example of illegal, costly and deadly preemptive war, drummed up by this administration through a series of lies to Congress and the people, in pursuit of an agenda never fully declared. Perhaps in taking back their country, Iraqis will show Americans how to do it here.”

I hope everyone will urge Karen Kwiatkowski to run for president.  She’s a longtime Libertarian Party member, she spoke at the LP’s 2004 convention, and she’d be a great LP candidate.

    * The media LISTEN to her.  Left and right, mainstream and libertarian, she is RESPECTED across the political spectrum (neocons excepted).

    * She was THERE, in the Pentagon when the Iraq war was planned.  She has experience in defense issues, a major qualification for a presidential candidate to be taken seriously.

    * She is a PATRIOT, as evidenced by her military service.  No one can call her a coward or anti-American.

Were she to run for president, she’d attract much favorable media attention, not only to herself but to these important issues.

    Run, Karen, Run!

    continued from post above…

Well, the bohemian guys, are show, on film chanting to the statue, and the priests, yes, priests, offer up a wrapped up body, or at least what appears to be a body, and they are chanting “burn him” “burn him”, over and over, and you hear screams as the thing burns. Taped screams, as the local fire guys attend because a few years ago word got out that some belived actual people died there and so now they have covered themselves by having the local fire marshal. Now consider, WHY would our elite, include bush, clinton, heads of industry, and media, top money and power guys, do this?
What in the world does “burn him” mean?
Well, anyone that rats on the group, is threatened with firey death. Have they killed?
Well, you only have to look at 911 to say yes to that one, If you have reviewed the 911 data yet.
So, tell me, I can understand the impulse to try to organise the planet, to make it so we dont kill all the animals in africa, ect, and limit our population ect, however, do guys that act like they do in front of that statue give you confidence that thier moral basis is solid?
Nixon said that he went to that place, and “it was the most faggoty thing you could possibly imagine”  Numerous stories are available to read about how young male prostitues are there in generous abundance. These globalists come at this planetary dominance goal with baggage that must be noticed. They have a tyrannical impulse, and since you are reading here, you are not one of the elite, so, YOU are not going to be in that elite ruling class. You, and you descendents, will join my kids and grandkids or great grandkids, in some form of unescapable serfdom. CHristianity will be tolerated, since -obey your masters- is written into the Paul writings, however, you can forget about changeing “the order”.

    The new world order.
You have a decision to make.

After various inputs, this is the vision I see.

Always, and everywhere, men do the domination thing. Seeking dominion over the uncertainties and problems of life, men always form groups of some structure to impose self interested order.

We are now witnessing the fruits of a very long effort of a continuous running club of men who are rich. Read the right history, and you see thier hands in many of the wars. All the details have not come my way but enough to be able to say that you can find for yourself plenty of history on the web that will fill in some of that story.
I would ask you to look at the group that goes to that bohemian grove club.  There are 95 different clubs in the grove membership, how much they share info amongst themselves is uncertain, but as usual, there are insiders, and then there are really insiders. This long running club has had designs and worked towards goals that, whatever thier various reasonings, add up to this present effort that does in fact have an end game goal. I regret to say that the following info is not fantasy, and you can find it as I did. It is all on the web in various locations. Search google and also surprisingly, youtube, for video on -bohemian grove- masonic activity, nine eleven, and there are links from there. Also, a definate is Arron Russo interview.
Anyway, the game plan is to fight a permanent war on terror, and in doing so, cause attacks, stage attacks, so you can change the landscape of how we all live. Henry kissinger has said, “there will come a day when the citizens of Los Angeles will welcome the troops of the UN.”  Now what do you suppose they will have to do to cause that, and putting aside the various scenarios for a moment, the question is, WHY would anyone have a plan that makes them say that? Well, these boys have said they want to halve the population, of the planet, and microchip all the people so that you are identified where ever you are on the planet and computers already are capable of handleing the job of tracking billions of people and are just waiting for the people to get chipped.
They have announced chips that can be injected with your immunity shots as a kid. The big boys have admitted to having given up on nationalism, and are going for a global, tightly controlled, one world power, where the rich people rule, and the rest of us are there to work and serve. And have lives of course, however, they dictate the morality, and, say you are uppity, well, they just identify your location via your chip, and send out an assasin team to follow a beacon, and you are gone. Forget the pesky court system, forget getting out of line and starting a revolution, the model is first, Rome, then when they fully control us, it becomes the new egypt.
Where the god king and the elites, rule all, and the population spends lifetimes building monuments to death. The masons and the bohemians grove is decorated with Masonic symblism, and that is all from egypt and babylon era god statues. This next info is filmed, and can be seen on the internet, some bbc guys, i think the website is infowars, snuck extremely fortunately, past multiple layers of gaurds at the bohemian grove club, and filmed some parts of it. There is a 35 foot statue of the babylonian god, i forget his name, and you can look his name up on the internet, and see that he was a god where you sacrificed young lives.
    next post below, it continues….

    Bravo Col. Kwiatkowski!

This war is about the oil, and the permanent bases are all about the oil.

The presence of foreign troops in Saudi Arabia was becoming intolerable to islamic fundamentalists, so we pulled them all out. The NeoCons’ big gamble was that the more secular Iraqis would accept the presence of foreign troops better than the Wahabi’s in Mecca.

Nice in concept… but they may also have been counting on Iraq fracturing along ethnic lines.

Their goal is to keep the government in Baghdad utterly dependent on U.S. troops - to keep the “injuns” out on the frontier under control.

They want an Iraqi government that is too weak to resist predatory contracts with western oil companies, but just strong enough to enforce those contracts.

The British ruled India this way for a hundred years… never quite finishing off the “bandits”, always having to maintain a garrisons to protect the feeble local princes (and maintain British trade advantage).

The NeoCons are still living in the 19th century. The 20th century’s history of anti-colonial movements seem to have no meaning for them.

Michael Parenti defined imperialism as, “the ruling class spending a billion dollars of the taxpayers’ money in order to collect 50 million dollars for themselves”.

Well, now it’s trillions spent so ExxonMobile and Halliburton can collect billions… but it’s still a scam that Americans - conservative and liberal - should be furious about.

Too bad the Republicans all drank the kool-aid.

We have four immense military bases in Iraq and we intend to keep them in place indefinitely. We are building the largest embassy in the world in Baghdad and intend to keep it in place indefinitely.

The French built the Maginot Defensive Line after WW1 to protect from any future invasion from Germany. The cost of the Maginot Line was astronomical and nearly bankrupted France. When WW2 began in ernest the German Panzer Divisions simply did an ‘end run’ through Belgium and around the Maginot Line. The ML was totally ineffective against the German onslaught and was soon surrounded and cut off from its supply lines.

A similar fate may await our ‘enduring bases’. The only way US bases can endure in Iraq is if the insurgency is quelled and we install a government in Iraq that is at least somewhat friendly to the US. Otherwise the insurgency will attack our enduring bases during inclement weather (sandstorms, low cloud cover, etc.) and the bases will become a living hell for those trying to defend them.

If all US troops in Iraq are withdrawn into the enduring bases and out of harms way, not conducting patrols and sweeps of towns and hamlets, then the insurgency will move into positions to attack our bases during bad weather, when our air cover cannot fly support missions. The insurgency will build up their weapons capabilities and place them in positions to shoot down any coalition aircraft attempting to support the bases. The insurgents have time on their side. They dont have to wipe out our bases in some limited amount of time but can chip away at them untill its no longer feasible for us to hold on.

So, the major oil companies are attempting to jam a PSA oil law through the Iraq administration that is usereous (to be kind). This brings to mind a question: How are we going to protect the oil companies that are attempting to drill, upgrade run down facilities, and pipe oil to the port of Basra 200 miles to the south while our forces are all inside enduring bases? If we cannot secure the 12 mile road from the green zone to the Baghdad airport I seriously doubt we can protect a 200 mile pipeline and any oil company attempting to upgrade oil facilities and export oil.

I see another zillion dollar debacle on our horizon. Its going to be similar to Vietnam. We built immense facilities in the Nam and when we left the facilities stayed.

Too bad we didnt spend some of the money that was blown on enduring bases on the infrastructure of our own contry.

This entire Iraqi adventure is FUBAR.

I agree with very much of what Karen is offering here and it is great to be able to draw from her expertise.  However, she says that terrorism stops when political solutions are offered.  I don’t believe that for a minute.  Author Sam Harris has done a great job recently reminding us that Islam has a side that respects, encourages killing of unbelievers, and embraces martyrdom, and this radical side is drawing more people form within that faith.  The 9/11 hijackers were well educated, had no real complaints other than their perception that the west is an enemy of Islam.

I had another one of those “Meanwhile in Baghdad” moments when I turned on the TV today, my first day back home again in Indiana from the front lines of the political war in Washington. CSPAN is running video of hearings that are more than a month old while the Mainstream Media is running live coverage of a hearing about, you guessed it, Anna Nicole Smith. And I am baffled. They are airing live, in real time, a hearing about what will happen with the remains of a person who is famous for being famous, sending out national news alerts that the Judge presiding over the hearing wept when he rendered his decision. Here’s the baffling part. For a solid month, activists and Women For Peace have been in hearings in our nation’s capital. Standing up, quite literally, for our democracy, our rights as citizens and the human rights of others all over the world. True, we did not have a gallon jug of methadone in our refrigerator in the CODEPINK house on Capital Hill—organic cheese and left over vegetarian soup are more our speed. But we, too, have wept in hearings, and we also created quite a ruckus on our last trip to a hotel.

That’s where the similarities begin and end, though. No one waited an inordinate amount of time to call 911 for us. We could see the secret service out on Connecticut Avenue counting up the six floors to pinpoint our location and put an end to our partying. Our idea of fun was to drop a 40-foot pink slip from the sixth floor of the 6 star Mayflower Hotel while George Bush was speaking in a ballroom downstairs. Pink slipping George was one of many highlights in a month filled with actions and opportunities to work for Peace.

The past month of living and working in D.C. with CODEPINK has been an invaluable experience with many victories, both large and small. The women of CODEPINK have experienced both excitement and frustration at trying to move Congress to end this war in Iraq and prevent another in Iran. As a small town, mid-western woman with only a couple of years of activism under my belt, the leadership and mentoring provided by all in CODEPINK has been of incalculable worth.

With the change over to Democratic Party Leadership in both the House and the Senate, each day on the Hill offered challenges with dealing with Legislators and finding the line with Capital Police. What was once arrestable is sometimes no longer even chided. What was once unwelcome opinion and treated as disrespectful behavior is now tolerated as part of the exercise of free speech. Do not think that things have changed so much that the path to peace will be a cake walk. It will not be. Congress will not step out onto any limb until they know that not only will their grassroots break their fall, but will grow to support the limb they have climbed out upon and prevent it from cracking under the weight of the issues.

Despite resistance from Dems and Republicans alike, women have been fighting valiantly in the war against the war, taking CODEPINK’s anti-war message from the curbside to Congress in a sustained non-violent movement that has been picking up momentum and making a distinct difference in our government’s handling of war issues. There can be no doubt about our effectiveness, though. Whether we are attending hearings, speaking out and being removed from those hearings, being arrested in Congress or in Legislative offices, or executing actions that spark the imagination and awareness of the public, the women of CodePINK are at the forefront of the peace movement. The momentum gained from the kick off of the occupation project must be sustained. The ground we have gained in the halls of congress must be maintained. Fighting for it, standing up is the only way peace and justice will be obtained.

I feel honored to have worked with so many who have given so much of themselves to the movement, and look forward to my return to D.C.

RE: Comment #56139 by Jeff Badura

Jeff, your inability to comprehend what you hear or read is becoming a daily event.  Today’s missive shows that you did not comprehend the facts that Lt. Col. Kwiatowski related concerning the Office of Special Plans being an operation run by political operatives to bypass traditional intelligence analysis and require the Near East South Asia desk at the Office of the SecDef to pass along the talking points issued by the Office of Special Plans.  A simple Google search turns up plenty of corroborating information showing the political nature of the OSP to further the neocon agenda for invasion.  The weapons inspectors were telling us before the invasion that there were no WMD’s in Iraq.
If you do a little more research you would learn that in response to the UN resolutions, Iraq allowed the weapons inspectors back into Iraq.  However, since they were not finding any WMD’s or WMD programs, they were not with the program and were ordered out by Bush so he could start his war.  The Downing Street Memo (July 2002) shows the British were alarmed that the administration was fixing “the intelligence and facts ...around the policy.”
And yes, Jeff, it’s great that we have the military bases to continue to spread freedom.  Our bases in Saudi Arabia seemed to spread lots of freedom to the Saudi people.  Oh, now I remember, Saudi Arabia is a kingdom run by the house of Saud.  Guess we gave them enough freedom to incide fifteen Saudi nationals to help fly planes into the Pentagon, WTC, and a farm in Pennsylvania.  Exactly where else is freedom on the march thanks to our overseas military presence?

Scenario of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki ... may not be revived in Iran in real sense but plans for dropping of deep penetrating bunk buster bombs to make a cave like holes and then driving the precision guided nuclear arsenals through those holes to attack deep down on the well hidden Iranian nuclear assets, are in the offing.

Although United State suffered an acute humiliation in Iraq and American public has totally rejected the Neocons policies in Iraq; but Conservative are still clinging to their failed policies; as the executive power and White House key administration posts still rest with them. Under the present situation and with the history of committal of series of blunders and set backs in Iraq; Conservatives are the most desperate lot.

To leave from Iraq with a legacy of defeat; this scenario may not be liked by out going Conservative Chief; It is but certain to bring about, some odd scenario which can change their earned shame into some fame. Some thing; which gives at least victory like silhouette for the returning armed forces.

To eliminate, destroy the declared ‘axis of evil’; Iran, may be the only option to scale down the anarchy in Iraq and to turn the shame into fame.

Redeployment of new naval fleets in Persian Gulf and induction of additional troops to over swell the presence of forces; is an act of Brinkmanship that; seeing the display of arms rattling and threatening plans of US Forces being widely discussed in the media; Iran will eventually budge and surrender to the American will.

But to force Iran into some agreement on US terms at the negotiation table may not be the aim to satisfy the required out come at the moment. Neither a regime change option may be the priority. Eliminating Iran completely may be the ultimate option to mark a sure success in Middle East.

Destruction of few nuclear sites may push the Iranian programmes few years back but it may not eliminate their programme all together because they may save, hide their assets before hand. To destroy Iran Armed forces and their capabilities and reduce them effectively or scale them down to a lowest depleted level; for which targets in thousand, deep in side Iran will be selected.

Israel prospective in this scenario is also to be kept in mind. Israel wants to bury the pains of her humiliating bog down and retreat of Israeli forces from Lebanon- Israel, 34 days war is still very fresh. Israel has the earnest desire to re-establish and restore its deterrence as an invincible force in the Middle East. Israeli chief of staff, General Dan Halutz has recently resigned (owing to his ill planning in the above war) and Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert may be the next in line. Attacking Iran and eliminating it, is but desire able.

In both the cases; reducing Iranian Armed forces to their least potent level and size; plus destroying its nuclear sites is the only easy option for US-Israel joint operation to mark a wished victory and regain the lost US glory in the Middle East.

    But Iran being at the helms of affairs has some, certain obligations to their land, to full fill them;

In order to escape a catastrophe waiting to happen and avert an annihilation of its country and loss of lives of millions of people; Iran to stop check the US onslaught and create lasting deterrence; is certainly left with no option but to declare it self a nuclear power and test (prove) its effectiveness of long range delivery system.

It will save lives of millions and make the peace a lasting possibility in the Middle East.
The lives it may save; may not be only of millions and millions of destitute Iraqis and Iranians; but also of American, Israelis and of many more; being prepared to be put in as fodder of planned inferno of war, in and around the Middle East.

What is being done in Iraq is what has been done to Diego Giarcia.  It is the anexation of sovern territory for the building of American bases, the only difference is that the population of Iraq cannot be removed so easily, so the bases must remain separate to the country where its not possible to expel the population(ergo Diego Garcia).
To quote Dick Cheney (He’s refering by the way to Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline) “it is a tool of intimidation and blackmail”, that is what these bases are, tools of intimidation.
In this way they destabilize, if your country is named in an axis of evil, in which you see your neighbour accused of developing WMD’s and supporting terrorism then invaded(Iraq).  When these same allegations are made against you(Iran) would you be encouraged to have a nuclear bomb to aid negociations?

In their investigations the Democrats are only skirting around the edges whereas they should be focusing on connecting the dots regarding the many unanswered issues and inconsistencies left by the “911 Report”.

Is it just coincidence that barely more than a half of a year after the Bush 43 regime took over the White House PNAC got their wanted “new Pearl Harbor” to rally American support for their imperial plans for the Middle-East? And what about the long time relations between the Bush family and the Saudies. Most of those named to be connected with 9/11 were Saudi nationals.

    Racist war.
What has been overlooked here, is that this deliberate occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq is a combination of racist and religious war, racist as it is against the “Other” world , and religious, as it is an anti Islam crusade,  a continuation of the Christian crusades against Islam,  from a thousands years ago.
The attack of 9/11 inflamed a racial hatred by the overall American public against the Native peoples of Afghanistan, (for their support of Bin Laden)  and those who carried out the attack came from an Arabic background. (Saudi Arabia )
And it arrived just in time as America was looking for a new Slogan, to replace the old enemy we called “Communism”  (Cold war against the communist East) . And so the “War on Terror” was invented.  Of course this is a nothing but a racist crusade against what we now call “Radical Islam” .
Unfortunately this racist war on terror found great acceptance in England and even more so in Australia. (the 3 coalition of the willing) and the local population embraced it with delight.
America and the coalition of the willing wanted racial vengeance (not legal justice)  on all those connected and even those not connected, with the attack.  That’s when the mass murder in Afghanistand and Iraq started and we all danced and applauded in delight of seeing the “Enemy” massacred.  That countless (will be over a million soon)  innocent men, women and children died was a delightful bonus to satisfy our racial hatred as a revenge for the attack of 9/11.

Col. Kwiatkowsky’s words reflect what a small number of us face every week here in Lincoln, NE.  Nebraskans for Peace hold a peace vigil every Wednesday afternoon in front of the Federal Building along one of Lincoln’s busiest streets.  Anywherre from 15 to 30 people show up for this, holding assorted signs and messages such as “Bring the Troops Home” amd “Don’t Bomb Iran.”  Our numbers have not increased over the past year, despite more and more revelations about past Bush administration decisions, the growing threat of further war, or the “surge” in Iraq.  Yes, many people in passing cars give us the victory sign, and we get fewer “middle-finger salutes” than we did in the past.  But no one gets out of their cars to join our demonstration for peace.
We see the same thing throughout the country: so-called liberal Connecticut voters overwhlemingly return a war-monger like Lieberman to the Senate, Jimmy Carter is effectively banned from the mainstream because he dares to question U.S./Israeli tactics, the Congress feels it cannot discuss cutting funding for the war, and most Americans just keep driving without stopping to object to the Bush administration’s policies.  What will it take to stop the collapse of the United States into an unbounded fascist state?

I think the way to ‘win’ the ‘war’ in Iraq is for Bush and Cheney to be impeached, and sent forth from Washington, along with their patrons.

The Chair Force is supposed to have like, smart people in it, and stuff. Credit where credit is due, they are trying some alternative fuels. I do remember a time, I think I do anyway, when the Chair Force did a lot more flying, and a lot less bullshitting. And, to my view, that’s about what this lady’s full of. The war’s about oil, it’s always been about the oil, it’ll continue to be about the oil, and the sooner they pry the Precious out of Cheney’s fingers, the better off we’ll be. Nuff said.

While I appreciate Ms. Kwiatkowski’s efforts toward reining in the neocons in their tour of destruction, I find it somewhat troubling that she has no problem with Ronald Reagan. This is because he only invaded Grenada? The same neocons were present in his administration and were active in arming and supporting death squads in Central America. This was done behind the back of Congress, as was his dealings with the Iranians to ship them military spares. Based on our previous MO with the Phoenix program and the Contras, it would not come as a shock if we eventually find out that our government is actively supporting the death squads in Iraq that are torturing and killing Sunnis.

My Turn: We deserve honest answers

    Source: burlingtonfreepress.com

    Published: Wednesday, February 28, 2007
    Doug Dunbebin

In the name of 9/11, our government has invaded, detained, tortured, and spied. It’s undermined the Constitution and shredded the Bill of Rights. And it shows no signs of stopping.

Skeptical? Ask yourself, without the 9/11 induced “war on terror,” would the Patriot Act have been enacted? Habeas corpus suspended? Torture legalized? Without 9/11, would the American people have allowed the president and Congress to illegally invade a sovereign country, spending billions of dollars there while ignoring major issues like healthcare, global warming, and the growing gap between rich and poor?

Maybe you’re hopeful that a new Congress will right these wrongs. But bear in mind, the president’s agenda has enjoyed bipartisan support. And, it remains unclear whether growing opposition to the war is because it’s illegal and unconstitutional, or simply because we’re not winning.

If we hope to reverse this administration’s agenda we must first know everything we can about 9/11 — the event that made that agenda possible. We must get truthful answers to these questions: What did our government know? When did it know it? Was it involved? And could it have prevented the attacks?

Some may think we have the answers — that the 9/11 Commission fulfilled its aim to provide the fullest possible account. But, isn’t it possible that an administration that lied about WMDs, torture, and illegal spying, is also lying about 9/11?

On March 6, Burlington voters must decide whose assessment is more believable — those with second-hand knowledge who say the 9/11 report is “thorough” and “complete,” or whistle blowers with direct knowledge who say it’s seriously flawed and its recommendations fail to get at key problems, and family members who call it “pathetic” and say 70 percent of their questions were glossed over or went unanswered.

Questions like: Why did secret service agents leave the president, and the children he was with, exposed to attack for more than 20 minutes after the twin towers were hit? Why did the Pentagon give false testimony to the Commission about its failure, for nearly two hours, to intercept the hijacked aircraft? Did the government receive warnings from other countries of the impending attacks? Who funded the alleged terrorists? And who profited?

Additionally, scientists have raised credible questions about physical anomalies — including the unprecedented collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. And if you agree with Dan Rather and Peter Jennings that the collapse looked like a professional demolition, then surely the 9/11 Commission should have wanted to know more. Yet, despite calls for further investigation, the Commission failed to even mention Building 7 in its final report.

It’s time for a real investigation. One with teeth. Congressional hearings. Or perhaps a special prosecutor with full subpoena power. What ever form it takes, it must be truly independent — directed by someone who is not a Bush administration insider. And, like any proper investigation, it must consider all of the relevant forensic evidence — including previously ignored procedural, scientific and physical anomalies.

    Part I:

Karen, nice that you have spoken out. I had no idea about the extent of our presence in Iraq and its permanence. In a way, it’s a masterful plan – we now “own” the Middle East, all its resources, and can plunder at will. That’s just what PNAC had in mind, as others have pointed out.

So we are now closer to the truth, thanks to you and Truthdig. But please STOP pretending that the gov’t account of 9/11 is accurate. The official account is that the gov’t either had no warning, or mixed signals among agencies prior to 9/11, so we couldn’t prevent the attacks. But within a couple of HOURS of the attacks we were told that Osama was in charge and were shown the names and photos of 19 hijackers, their modus operandi (box cutters). Osama, a known CIA asset, had nothing to do with 9/11. As of 6/06, the FBI no longer has him on their wanted list for 9/11 crimes. His confession video is fake:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk519bkcLjg

Furthermore, nine of the alleged hijackers are still alive:

    http://www.welfarestate.com/911/

We were asked by our gov’t to suspend belief: 1) that our air-defense system failed (FAA and NORAD) to intercept planes gone off course; and 2) that the WTC 1 and 2 “collapsed” when it is obvious that the buildings exploded. Yeah, right, our trillion-dollar defense system failed. And steel-frame buildings can disintegrate due to hydrocarbon fire and the impact of being hit by objects they were designed to withstand, collapsing perfectly into their footprints (despite asymmetrical damage), at near free-fall speed.

Another building, further away from the Twin Towers, also “collapsed.” Watch:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4556787288866368337&q=wtc+7&hl=en

WTC 7 was not hit by a plane and had only small fires. Buildings in between the Twin Towers and WTC7 did NOT collapse, despite suffering enormous damage from debris and fire. Larry Silverstein (who purchased a highly unusual ‘terrorist-attack insurance rider’ after leasing the WTC buildings in the months prior to the attack) is also shown in the above footage (from a BPS documentary) and says that they decided to have the building “pulled” and then “we watched the building collapse”:

Curiously, we see that CNN and the BBC had information that the WTC7 was going to “collapse” (and incorrectly transmitted that the building had collapsed 26 minutes beforehand). See article with embedded video:

    http://infowars.com/articles/sept11/bbc_wtc_7_911_coverup_unraveling.htm

Like Buildings 1 and 2, Building 7 does what no other steel framed building had ever done as a result of fire, it collapsed at free fall speeds, perfectly emulating controlled demolition. The top Dutch demo expert said Building 7 was a controlled demolition:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgoSOQ2xrbI

What was in WTC7? Private companies & gov’t agencies. Private companies included: Salomon Smith Barney, among others. The gov’t agencies housed at 7 World Trade Center were the Secret Service, the Department of Defense, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management, the Internal Revenue Service Regional Council (IRS), and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Might this have been the “command center” for the 9/11 attacks? Certainly, SEC investigations of Enron (many Bush cronies) were suspended.

    Part II:

Rudi Giuliani, by his own admission, was warned to evacuate:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hNmf76GUCw

There were other slip-ups in the official propaganda machine. Rumsfeld said that flight 93 was “shot down” over Pennsylvania:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Xoxaf1Al0

Rumsfeld also said in an interview that a “missile” hit the Pentagon:

    http://www.the7thfire.com/Politics and History/Missile-Not-Flight-77.html

    See also:

    http://www.democrats.com/node/5056

Bush slipped up, too, twice, when he declared that he saw the plane hit the North Tower:

    http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/bushlie.html

More evidence of foreknowledge of the attacks comes in the form of insider trading:

    http://911research.wtc7.net/sept11/stockputs.html

What more do you need: What are you waiting for? It’s time for a real investigation, followed swiftly by indictments and prosecution. Remember Waco, Oklahoma, TWA flight 800, Ruby Ridge, Gulf of Tonkin, Pearl Harbor, USS Maine, USS Liberty, etc., etc.

Don’t wait for any god to help you. Help yourself. Take charge of your life. Stop paying taxes. Leave the country. Stage a march and/or strike. Refuse to pay one nickel to the NYTimes or the Post. Waiting for a pretend man in the sky to rescue you is the height of idiocy. If there was a god, and he/she gave a shit, we wouldn’t have had 9/11 in the first place!

A comment on 55956 posting, I was sickened to see such a bunch of vile masquerading as political commentary and it is people who say such criminal and stupid things, should be identified for and prosectuted for their crimes of encouraging violence.

I have never understood how the right wing crazies can make Jesus a poster boy of their vile behavior. If the old testament says one thing and Jesus says another than I would think Jesus trumps the old testament every time. He is either God or son of God depending upon who you are listening to.

While I believe all religion is suspect and of limited utility, posts such as this confirms my disbelief and suspicions. I am descended from earlist white settlers and probably have American Indian blood too, judging from appearances and the fact they were pioneers of the earlist age. I am American, but I have a great doubt that people who would spue such hateful evaluation and then credit their opinion to Jesus who, even though I don’t think he is divine, still Jesus had very pointed things to say about the “RICH”, ignoring the poor and mean spiritedness. The Bush Cheney Republicans are not worshipers of Jesus. They could not do the things they do if they were.

Thank you for this interview! It taught me some new things. Most of all about the four “Enduring Bases”.

    Six questions about them:
    1. There may come an Iraqi government which will demand their closing. - Will the USA be capable just to say: No, we will not close them! We will stay!
    2. There may be efforts of a future Iraqi government to stop any supply for theses bases: close all roads, and send some missiles against planes which may try to feed the bases. - Could this amount to a probable “threat” to these four bases?
    3. There may be such an intense wish of a majority of the American people to withdraw from Iraq compeletely that a future US government and congress will be coerced to close the four bases. - Is this a probable outcome?
    4. It is likely, I think, that the hatred of the Arab people toward Israel & USA will surge to a degree that this hatred will become part of a broad religios crusade - now not only of a minority like Al Qaida, but of a crusade of the broad mainstream against the USA. Then, f.e., the pro-American governments of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi-Arabia, Kuweit, UAE and others will be replaced by sharply antiAmerican governments there. - Could such a trend become a reason for the USA to change course in the Mideast and adopt a more suitable and acceptable strategy there?
    5. What about China? Provided China’s rise will continue: Couldn’t China use this extreme US unpopularity in the Arab world to support antiAmerican trends, and maybe deliver missiles which can hit and damage the four bases?
    6. With the four bases in Iraq the US army and empire is placed where they wanted to be placed. OK. But maybe the costs of this placement will get higher than the benefits; the costs in terms of money, reputation, political leverage in the Mideast. Could the whole thing prove to be a misconception even (even!) for the NeoCons and the US Corporations who back them until now?

America, and American’s have all been taught to be, consumers, and to only think of life in terms of what you can “get”.

This is why Iraq and Iran works so well for the administration, because Americans are no longer political animals, but instead consumers, who only become disturbed when their consumption is somehow limited.

Our political parties, and our lives are dominated not by our consciousness, but by the products we consume, and the brand names we buy loyally. For many even our identities are tied to those brand names, while we have forgotten how it feels to be connected to people, and to value the lives of others.

This seemed to work as long as our corporations were only interested in selling more and more.

So the question is who can oppose the corporate attempt at erecting a totalitarian plutocracy?
American’s no longer own an authentic “self interest”, outside of the corporate one.

We are lost….and Iran will be next on the list for New world order conquest, and exploitation.

How much you want to bet that Bush and Cheney, once they leave office in two years time, end up on the Iraqi Oil and Gas Council that they have demanded that the Iraqi government create to oversee Iraq’s oil and gas?

Forget Harken Oil (Bush) and Halliburton (Cheney). Controlling Iraq’s oil and gas through controlling membership on the Iraqi Oil and Gas Council will pay much, much better, especially with so much Iraqi oil yet to be discovered and plundered. A mini-OPEC setup in Iraq, and controlled by Western oil executives.

The ultimate in “revolving-door” political corruption. A bunch of corrupt politicians raiding another country, grabbing control of that nation’s energy resources, having the propped-up puppet government set up a council to manage these resources, and after this bunch of corrupt “oily” politicians leave office, they get their Western oil company crony pals to appoint them to the council controlling the invaded nation’s energy resources, following which Bush and Cheney give themselves yearly multi-million dollar bonuses…a perfect retirement package (though highly illegal, nefarious, corrupt, insane, criminal).

To attain an anchorage in Baghdad is the ultimate aim. Why to bother about the country side of Iraq or the Iraqis.  Stay in Baghdad (for a long time to come); secure its immediate environs. Thanks to our British ally they are giving us a secured Basra with its ports to open sea of Persian Gulf. Only 300 miles stretch between Basra and Baghdad is to be taken care of. Sure enough; our forces should be capable to look after this stretch of route at least. The government, the oil and our mega bases in the green zone; all is secured and in control. Billions of dollars are sure enough a fund available in the name of re-construction of Iraq, to live on; and to be dished out to our Neocons contractors of Halliburton, KBR,  Fluor and all the other war profiteers.

Now the real game starts; all is being set to invade now ‘axis of evil’; Iran. A dream game of… victory.
To start with; (or restart with) we are witnessing the tightening of noose and elimination of Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army Militia and blaming Iran for fostering al-Sadr. Same old rhetoric; that insurgents are not Iraqi but foreigners… Al Qaeda members; backed by Iran and Syria?

Moving outward; In order to stretch it further for the next move; we are about to see the usual suspect Pakistan being finally blamed for harbouring the Al Qaeda and running its nefarious camps. President Musharaf will be made to go down. Most probably the Islamist government will be installed there and in turn Pakistan will be declared, an epicentre of Terrorism. Under the usual universal pretext of terrorism; US lead forces will move in to take over the Pakistan’s atomic assets and arsenals.

Any how; hold your breath, save your heart. We may see many more lands, turning into Iraq…one after another.

But drop scene of this ‘Surge’ is; ‘that sun may not shine in the Middle East which may bring the rays of peace and hope in the fore yard of destitute people.

I have listened/watched Karen Kwiatkoski on Democracy Now and read her interviews on other sites. Thanks Karen, for telling it like it is!

Our neo-con led government has embarked on a resource war for oil. We intend to control the oil of the mid east countries and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that task. We also intend to do the same in Africa, where many new oil finds are being made, and we are in the process of setting up a Centcom for Africa.

I dont believe that the American people have the will or means to stop our new imperial governments ambitions and our congress certainly doesnt seem to have the back bone for the task.

So what will happen? I dont know but will speculate. We have rivals in the world that have the capability and intelligence to stop the neo-cons plans of world domination. China is the joker in the deck. China is very dependent on foreign oil and I doubt that they will stand by and see the neo-cons take over mid east oil and then dictate oil terms and prices to them. India is in the same situation as China. There is a new organization in Asia called the SCO or Shanghai Cooporation Organization. Members include Russia, China, India, Iran (as an observer), and other Asian countries. I believe that this group of countries intends to act as a counter balance to US hegemony in the world.

I hope that the rivalry between the US and the SCO counties leads to a return to a mulit-polar world. Perhaps that would lead to the US to a return to the Constitution that we all want and away from the fantasies of neo-con world domination. Anyway, here is to hope!

Somebody made the comment about not hearing these kinds of people on the Main Stream Media. And, that is because we are not expected to hear these people for obvious reasons.

She talks about the permanency of the bases in Iraq, and hence an American presence in the region for a long time to come. This is bad news and I am sure the message will be coming from the MSM as well.  Just to remind us of course, in case we forget.  That is their job to indoctinate us, to educate us, and to make us conform and to believe.  It is all so sad, but true.

To watch the newly elected Democrats perform in the midst of all of this is heartbreaking as well.  They have all bought into the scheme of permanency too.

What I am hoping for, however, is sort of a ‘Night of the longknives’, so to speak.  Somebody with some power in that Congress has to take the initiative and start the ball rolling.  You have to work with what you got.  You elected them to do a job.  They are it.  Someone has to start the impeachment game going and simultaneous hearings into 9/11.  The neocons have to be overwhelmed with democracy, it would be like sticking a dagger into their hearts.

It is disturbing for those just now discovering how much information has been kept out of the public’s eye. With no thanks to the traditional media for making it possible, the Bush administration managed to further a dangerous agenda in an unprecedented usurpation of power previous administrations dared not. This is why whistleblowers play such a prominent role in America today.

At great risk of being singled out whistleblowers, like Karen Kwiatkowski, knowing the possible consequences, face being discredited based on false statements. They also realize speaking-out might cost them their job and/or will endure other injustices.

It takes courage ... a lot of it to blow the whistle!

Whistleblowers are vital for a healthy democracy. They care deeply about this nation and deserve our praise and appreciation for doing the honourable thing.

Karen and all the other whistleblowers, thank you, for trying to stop America from falling over the brink.

It takes a lot of courage for doing what you do, your bravery is to be commended.

This article hits it smack on the head. In addition to the four permanent American military constructed by Bush, Cheney, Haliburton and Co. with the pretense that this would be used for Iraqi construction with moneys from us, American tax payers it should also be mentioned that this same conglomerate has built the largest and costliest U.S. Embassy in the world.

Why, you may ask, would such an embassy be built in a relatively small country? The answer is simple; this “embassy” is to serve the purpose of being the U.S. colonial capitol of the entire Middle East.

This neocon plot, which is in the process of unfolding, MUST be stopped in its tracks, now, before it’s too late. In spite of 70% disapproval by the American we still that the neocons and their stooges in the government are as undeterred as an out-of-control train speeding to a collapsed bridge.

However, there is a real note of anguish in her words and the comments that follow over our apparent powerlessness to affect the course of events taken by our government. How can we effectively communicate our desire for real change? Even the results of the November election have been badly misrepresented by both the politicians and the media. Maybe the time has come (or is fast approaching) to re-think our form of government.

I would like to know about the war profiteering of the Iraq war and what individuals and corporations will profit from going into Iran. I am convinced if war profiteering was illegal, there would be no wars as they occur now. I feel we are following the path of ancient Rome and if we do not change we i.e. USA will certainly fall.
Rome expanded its borders and forced its citizenry into militarism while an elite wealthy base became debauched. Because they were not manufacturing their own goods, they needed to keep taking over more and more territory (in modern terms: oil) then with expansionism, their nation eventually weakened internally and fell. Near the end of Rome, there was torturing and mass executions and the US with Guatanamo and using other nations for torture etc. and focus on violent media as entertainment….well, can’t you see the similarities? Also, towards the end of the Roman empire, fanatical insane leaders tore down their culture and stability…i.e.Bush et al….
If the US doesn’t reclaim our integrity, freedom, and ingenuity…..and continues on the militaristic path set by
Bush and his partners in corporate crime….we will fall, and fall hard.
I don’t want to see it. We need peace and the chance to rebuild our own country, one job at a time….We need to care about our people and to build a system to nurture and care for each other, not one that continually takes more and gives less.

This all points to a plan for world domination by the multinational corporations, using the US military as their cannon fodder.  Any dissent against this ‘war’ is called out as ‘treason.’  IT IS NOT TREASONOUS TO BE AGAINST THIS ILLEGAL WAR.  YOU CAN BACK THOSE WHO SERVE AND STILL BE AGAINST THIS ILLEGAL WAR.  OUR PEOPLE IN SERVICE ARE BEING HORRIBLY ABUSED BY THIS ADMIINISTRATION AND THESE CORPORATE HYDRAS.  WHEN OUR TROOPS ARE DENIED THINGS LIKE PROPER BODY ARMOR; WHERE DO YOU THINK THE MONEY GOES—TO HALLIBURTON’S COFFERS.  WHO ARE THE REAL TRAITORS?
I am ashamed of this government and ashamed of the mainstream media which acts as a defacto propaganda arm.  Both democrats and republicans are guilty on this one.  We have to end this war, end our dependence on fossil fuels, and return to being that virtuous city on the hill.  Somewhere there has to be a leader that can achieve these goals.  PS: I love you Mark (MVE), and am still ready to join you.  Just call me ‘feisty.’

Many of those commenting on the Iraq fiasco seem to forget or are unaware of the neocons driving force behind all this. It’s called the “Project For A New American Century”. Among it’s founders…Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, ad nauseum. Their vision is one of the USA as the preeminent military force in the world and where their idea of “democracy” is forced upon all of the other nations. Translating this previous sentence … world domination by the United States. The invasion of Iraq and the removal of Saddam has been on their agenda since the founding of PNAC (early-mid ‘90’s). In order to accomplish this goal, they needed a front-man, dupe, stooge… and along came “W”. They also needed a cataclysmic event (“like Pearl Harbor”). When they had both of these elements in place all they had to do was twist some (so-called) intelligence and it all fell in to place. All of this is presented on their website including plans for the invasion of other mid-east nations… Iran, Syria etc.

We need to get serious about putting these people out of business. We need to start with the impeachment of the “covers” (Bush/Cheney) and follow up with the criminal prosecution of the behind-the-scenes felons… the PNAC cabal.

Retired Air Force Col. Kwiatkowski seems to have it exactly right. There were covert plans involved in the invasion of Iraq all along.

These plans had to do with having permanent bases there to insure access to oil and to protect allies in the region.

Other goals of the inasion of Iraq included the funneling of billions of dollars to war profiteers, to obtain political power within the US, to control Americans at home and other motivations we probably cannot imagine.

To understand the invasion of Iraq, and scenarios for an attack on Iran, we must look behind the scenes. For more on this, the article below may be helpful:

You know, how many times must I be humiliated by reading something that I feel is absolutely shocking that I didn’t know before, until I realize, really realize how removed we are as citizens from the rooms where the strings are being pulled and the plots are plotted.  I am always one who po po’s conspiracy theories and too much paranoia, but reading this scalding exerpt from Josh Shear’s interview with Karen Kwiatkowski is truly chilling in it’s obvious truthfulness.

Are we lost?  Where to go?  I enjoy TruthDig interviews.  However, when will the tax paying people stop paying there taxes?  Taxies fund the war machine.  This country was founded on the ideal of taxation without representation.  Thus, the only way to get out of this quagmire is stop paying taxes.  So, what are we going to do?

And, the insanity of pouring excess amounts of our resources into the military complex, while the important issues of global warming and the development of human potential are underfunded, will continue until Americans decide to stop the insanity.  One important step toward stopping the insanity is the formation of a U.S. Department of Peace and Nonviolence.  House Resolution 808 currently has at least 60 co-sponsors.  Call, write or e-mail your representative and ask them to support this resolution.  Go to http://www.dopcampaign.org to learn more.

I am heartsick over these bases, and over the bullying of Iraq and the rest of the world by the U.S.A.—killing any real people’s self-determination and establishing U.S.A. hegemony (empire)!  I will use all my energy as an American citizen to work for dismantling these bases (and the 733—!—other permanent military bases this nation has in other lands)and for taking the U.S.A.‘s rightful place as only one country in a world where we need to accept all people as equals, with the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS!
