Truthdigger of the Week: Ed HenryPosted on Feb 16, 2007
Truthdig tips its hat this week to CNN White House correspondent Ed Henry, who has doggedly exposed the contradictions between the Bush White House and the U.S. military on Iranian involvement in Iraq. Here’s what happened: This past weekend, U.S. Defense Dept. officials in Baghdad, speaking anonymously to reporters, claimed they had evidence that the “highest levels” of the Iranian government are supplying bomb-making materials to the Iraqi insurgency. But then on Monday, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace said that he had not seen any such evidence, “ ... but I would not say by what I know that the Iranian government clearly knows or is complicit.” CNN’s Henry jumped on this contradiction during a press conference with White House spokesperson Tony Snow. Watch it:
The next day, Henry put the contradiction to President Bush himself, asking him, “What assurances can you give the American people that the intelligence this time will be accurate?” And of course, Bush dodged the question. Watch that exchange here. Then, on Thursday, Henry reported that the White House was now saying that—oops—the anonymous U.S. military briefers in Baghdad had misspoken in claiming to have evidence that the “highest levels” of the Iranian government is supplying bomb-making materials to the Iraqis. Henry’s exchange with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien about this “oops” was appropriately skeptical and snarky. Watch it here.

As far as Iraq and Iran,,,the following quote from Goering( thanks to Snopes.Com ) sums up the situation.
Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.”

With all due respect, but why reward the media for at long last doing their job? Maybe if the media had asked the tough questions in 2002-2003 we wouldn’t be talking about Iran today. Instead the media along with neoconservatives launched full scale attacks on those credible experts that said the Bush Regime was lying-there were no wmds in Iraq. Scott Ritter comes to mind as being one of those attacked.I’ll never forget it. And to me it should go down as one of the most unconscionable actions in the history of the media. Let’s see how well and tough you people in the mainstream media stay as BushCo continues to bang the war drums.

Re: false-flag operations in Iraq. The destruction of the golden-dome mosque looks very clearly like an action of the US forces. It’s so terrible what they’ve done...ruining that mosque started the worst of the chaos in Iraq, too.
That’s obviously what this is all about—creating chaos. So that US forces have to stay there indefinitely. It’s not about democracy (we don’t even have that here at home).
False-flag terrorism - seen again and again, perpetrated by our gov’t and others. Pick a group that is agitating against the gov’t, bomb something and blame it on that group, then sit back and watch the money flow to the gov’t to fight that supposed group.
Here is someone’s response to George Monbiot’s article on 9/11 (published recently in Britain):

Ahh yes, the endless contradictions of the Bush Administration. Yet again, another loop of answering such a question to avoid the hidden motive.
URGENT NEWS! I have just recently found a way to make up the budget deficit. Every time a member of the Bush Administration is confronted on a contradiction and can’t resolve the inaccuracy; they simply put a dollar in a jar. By the end of his term it will finally be prosperous. That is unless he claims Iran stole his jar.

Given that recent comments here have turned to events on the morning of 9/11, allow me to add something I’ve yet to see defined the same way by anyone else. My comment will address the demeanor of Bush 43, and others around him, that morning and for many mornings thereafter.
Police detectives who investigate murders always pay close attention to the demeanor of the individuals they interview. In particular, these highly trained and experienced officers look for people who seem to be ‘Pre-Reconciled’ to the horror that most crime scenes represent. The reason is that most people require time to come to terms with such horrible events. There is a grief process that settles down on the emotions of ordinary people—a process that unfolds on its own timetable. At the least, most ordinary people would be visably distressed. While it is true that there are some individuals who are super-cool under extreme pressure, this extraordinary trait has never been associated with Bush 43.
Being ‘Pre-Reconciled’, therefore, tends to support the argument that such a person knew in advance any and all particulars of the crime. Ergo, they were afforded the opportunity to “come to terms” with the horror of the crime well ahead of the actual event. This theory holds on crimes that involve only one or several murders. It is, therefore, profoundly more valid in a fact-situation involving thousands of murders.
With regard to 9/11, who is left to believe that Bush 43 and his crew are not capable of an evil, unlawful, treacherous, and surreptitious act on this scale?

How can any American citizen find any credibility in any thing that comes out of Bush’s mouth? The incredible 6 years of scandal after scandal should be an embarassment to every American citizen. Forget about if you are registered as a Republican or Democrat. When you are looking for a credible candidate for the White House people have to look beyond mainstream media which has been and is intimidated, coerced, gullible or just plain stupid. Turn off the talking heads and pundits. It should be a death knell to all who have had ties to the Bush / Cheney cartel who have political aspirations. Especially you Condi!!! There is no credibility in the Bush Administration!!!!

It means seeing through the pious cloak of false Christianity and false patriotism that Bush has assumed.
It means facing the terrible danger we are in, of losing every ounce of precious freedom our forefathers fought so hard to obtain, and that we so take for granted.
It means looking frankly at our helplessness, our gullibility, our willingness to accept any form of hypocrisy, as long as we are allowed to go on shopping.
It means realizing that Bush controls vast portions of our society- that many people must know that 9-11 was an inside job, and won’t step forward and say so, out of bribery, intimidation or both. A few brave souls have spoken up about the “power down” at the towers the week before, the evacuation of building 7 several hours before it, too, was brought down by preplanted demolition charges, the confusion at air traffic control when NORAD failed to intercept the planes that were so far off course- but not many dare to speak out. Why not?
It means realizing that the situation is so dire that we need help from a higher power, and should start praying, as sailors do when the ship is sinking.
Six years after 9-11, We the People are starting to recognize that we, too, have power. Some of us have been praying steadily, and the fruits are starting to show.
We’ve seen through the lies that took us into Iraq, and understand more about Bush’s hypocrisy, and willingness to “fix the facts around the policy” as the Downing Street memo puts it. Osama is another convenient “fact”, like WMD’s in Iraq.
We’ve seen that we have been blessed with the internet, with which to hunt for the truth, disseminate it, work with one another to reach new depths of understanding of our situation.
We’ve come to understand that under our precious Constitution, We the People are sovereign, and don’t have to tolerate another King George.
We’ve won an election, despite all the dirty tricks and voting machine fraud. We’ve even pushed the incoming Congress to censure Bush.
Our higher power has helped us all along to value truth above convenience, to fight with words rather than guns, to operate out of love for each other and future generations.
Perhaps now we are ready to face the truth about 9-11. The whole “war on terror” is based on 9-11, and is seen for the sham it is, once we realize it was an inside job. Once we do, our outrage will be so great that we will force Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney, the real hijackers.

Why the resistance to 9-11 truth?
by Carol Wolman
Part 1:
Anyone who has studied 9-11 at all knows it was an inside job.
Bush was not surprised. His brother Marvin’s security company closed down one tower the week before and brought in lots of cables and other equipment. The towers, including building 7, were dropped by controlled demolition. The planes provided a dramatic cover story- great pix.
Rumsfeld had control of scrambling planes transferred to himself, exclusively, a few months before, and then disappeared that morning, so no planes intercepted the four hijacked airliners. Instead, there was a “stand-down” of NORAD. By some strange coincidence, a military exercise was being run that am which simulated planes crashing into buildings, so that the air traffic controllers were confused about whether the “attack” was real or part of a drill.
The buildings were pulverized, but the passports of the hijackers were miraculously thrown clear and quickly “discovered”. There was no investigation, only a coverup that blamed the CIA and recommended police state measures to prevent future “attacks”.
Then there’s the lack of plane parts and small hole at the Pentagon. The flying out of the Bin Laden family the next day. The millions made on selling airline stocks short by those in the know. The confusion about passenger lists. The rejection of FBI reports about possible terrorists at US flying schools. And on and on.
There are so many videos that its hard to choose, but my favorites is 9-11 Mysteries at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6708190071483 512003 If you are not certain that 9-11 was an inside job, please watch this video. It’s 1 1/2 hours of factual material that will convince you. You owe it to yourself and all the rest of us to learn the truth about 9-11.
Most Americans, even those who are working for peace and impeachment, are reluctant to believe that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest actually planned and implemented 9-11, even though their long range plan (PNAC) clearly states that they need “a new Pearl Harbor”. The Reichstag fire is a better parallel, since it was also an inside job.
Polls show widespread skepticism of the cover story, and suspicion that Bush allowed 9-11 to happen, ignoring warnings from abroad and from his own intelligence service. But to think that he actually helped plan it, that demolition charges were set in the Towers by his brother’s company- that is a depth of evil that most of us can’t even begin to contemplate.
Why is this? Why, when we all know so well what liars and connivers the Bush people are, how little they care for human life, or truth, or honor, how greedy they are for power and how ruthless they are in pursuing it, why is it so hard to believe that they planned and carried out 9-11?
The degree of denial is astounding.
The cover story is paper thin. Osama was blamed within 24 hours, with no investigation. It’s obvious that the 9-11 Commission asked the wrong question,- not whodunit, but why were the signals missed? It’s obvious that Osama, no matter how bright and charismatic, could not have orchestrated such a massive attack from caves in Afghanistan. It’s obvious that the Saudi hijackers, if that’s who they were, were allowed into this country with no screening, allowed to take flight lessons, allowed to get on airplanes with box cutters- but how could all this be known, when the twin towers were pulverized? Etc. etc.
When denial is so strong, it’s because people don’t want to know the truth. The implications are too overwhelming, too frightening. Facing the truth about 9-11, that it was an inside job, planned and carried out with the help of the Bush family and administration, means facing the fact that we are saddled with a monster, a satanic creature, that will stop at nothing to gain total power.
It means facing what fools we are, what cowards we are, not to call a spade a spade.

Henry was doing his job and it was refreshing! MSM reporters cringe in their seats and have been acting as supplicants in fear of losing their jobs.
A conflict of interest exists when only monopolistic corporations control the press. If corporations profit by decisions made at the White House, executives would prefer reporters who do not probe too deep, in fact reporters have been acting as “PR guys” for George Bush.
So what does that say about freedom of the
Press, when one is considered courageous IF they do their job?
The forte of the psychobabble experts at the White House, is to state two unrelated facts and then allow the public to link them together, and reach their own fraudulent conclusions; i.e., we were attacked on 9/11 and Saddam Hussein has WMDS—-so Saddam must be responsible for 9/11; the Shiites are responsible for violence in Iraq and Iran is a Shiite nation—-so we need to be aggressive towards Iran.
It’s a sneaky strategy that works all the time, these psychobabblers can always defend themselves by saying; that’s a conclusion that only you reached.
As the war drums beat stridently toward Iran, more Henrys will need to surface, and challenge every misleading statement professed by the White House “experts,” whose sole purpose is to persuade the thinking of the public with “subliminal deceitful messages”—-let’s hope for all our sakes that all reporters will do their job.

It’s not another contradiction, they just got caught in another lie. It’s so bad that they can no longer get their lies straight. At least have everyone telling the same lie so for maybe a month it takes someone to figure in fact you are lying. No truth has ever come out of this Whitehouse, and when you get tired of lying or try to tell the truth, you are either fired or you quit. Most Americans can’t wait until Bush is out of office.
