in your next interview, would you ask Mr. Kucinich about impeachment. Has he heard Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley (frequently on Olbermann, video clips spread all over the web) speak on the subject?

Mr. Turley testified at Conyers’ basement hearing Jan ‘06, that Bush “admitted to an impeachable offense” and he felt it was Congress’ duty to reign in this renegade president. Kucinich was not present at that hearing, perhaps he is unaware of the fact that Bush admitted to committing this impeachable offense 30 times, or the fact that Bush lied about the illegal spying on the 2004 campaign trail, or that AG Gonzales lied about it during his confirmation hearing.

Mr. Scheer, please ask Mr. Kucinich what he thinks about impeachment- we the people have the right to know.

I know Pelosi and Conyers have taken it off the table, but someone needs to bring it back, and I’m sure millions of Americans would gratefully rally behind Mr. Kucinich if he did.

I was once a Republican...voted for Reagan...a terrible mistake.  Then I became a Democrat.  Next stop...the Green Party.  I’ve had it with the lies we keep hearing.  I can’t accept what I’m hearing from the Democratic leadership.  We hired them to end the Iraq War as soon as possible.  If they vote to continue funding the war instead, then that’s when I change my registration to the Green Party.  I won’t even care any longer if it might waste my vote and allow the Republicans back in.  Who cares if there’s no difference between them?  We have to start sometime.

With Nancy Pelosi saying that she would not act on measures of impeachment for Bu$h Inc. anyone expecting change in Washington is going to be terribly disappointed. She has hosted numerous panels on Sept. 11 conspiracy theories and suggested that Bush had prior knowledge of the terrorist attacks but kept quiet about it to allow friends to profit from the aftermath. She introduced legislation to establish a permanent collection of rapper Tupac Shakur’s recordings at the National Archives and calling for a federal investigation into his killing.

But it was her scuffle with a Capitol police officer that drew the most attention. McKinney struck the officer when he tried to stop her from entering a congressional office building. The officer did not recognize McKinney, who was not wearing her member lapel pin.

A grand jury in Washington declined to indict McKinney over the clash, but she eventually apologized before the House.

I admit to not knowing about Mr. Kucinich’s views until recently. I have to say that he, and people such as Ron Paul and Russ Feingold are giving me pause to reconsider my long held view that ALL politicians are for sale, and will go with the Washington flow when ample pressure is applied.

I believe that the terms Democrat & Republican are obsolete. The real litmus test should be to determine if all of our current and potential future reps. are ‘Globalists’. If so, then they should not be permitted to run for office.

We need to hold the new Democratic congress’s feet to the fire over the Iraq debacle - lest the current administration get their wish and expand the conflict to Iran, which is our current veep’s main goal before they leave, or are forced to leave office.

The situation in Iraq is being called “grave”, and rightfully so for all involved. Sadly, we also have a “grave” situation in the US, lack of responsible and accountable leadership, and the shocking indifference displayed by most of its citizenry, who appear to care more about Britney, Paris and Tom than our young sons & daughters who are in harm’s way, and last but not least, an Iraqi populace that continues to suffer greatly.

President Kucinich: an idea whose time has come.

The big showdown isn’t Dennis Kucinich against the Democratic leadership, it’s “Take care of number one” versus “Thy neighbor as thyself, being that it’s the outcome of this conflict that decides whether us human beings survive or not.  .

This war will continue as long as there is a constituancy for it.  Weapons manufacturers, the Pentagon, security providers all have a vested interest in keeping the war in maximum spending mode.
How about a gas tax at the pump to fully pay the expense of this war?  Every week middle America would get a reminder that they are paying for Bush’s war, and the connection between war, oil, and money would be reinforced every time at the pump.
Corporate America no longer concerns itself with health, education, environmental issues, or our deficit spending here at home.  They are global now, and they can buy and sell their products around the world.

One of the great “moments” in American history, in my opinion, happened in the 60’s during the Viet Nam conflict and the civil rights movement, when the college students and the hippies, then the Blacks, hit the streets.  Why haven’t we learned from that?  Why isn’t there civil disobedience?  Why isn’t there a general strike?  No one seems willing, myself included, to DO anything about the egregious behavior of congress and the Bush administration.  Maybe we really are a minority opinion.  Why are there no leaders like King and Hoffman and Malcom.  This is all BS, apparently.  Change will come when our government gets its peoples’ message, like in the 60’s and probably not before.  They like blood.  Say, the army’s away on call, how ‘bout a coup?!?! In my previous comment, I talked about the ‘08 election primarily as a form of pressure on our Representatives now.

The World Cant Wait is right.  We need action now.  If the Dems dont come through promptly, it’s time for a lot of direct action.  Anybody else remember how the Vietnam War ended?  The war came home to Washington, right there on the cover of Time magazine, and ultimately the soldiers mostly refused to fight.  And then, of course, the Vietnamese won.

One reason to get our troops out as quickly as possible is that the situation could go really sour in a big hurry.  If the Shia decide they don’t need the occupation any more, and there are signs of an alliance between them and the Sunni insurgency, the whole thing will be over very quickly.  And very badly.  This I fully expect; only the timing remains unclear.  So, we need our people out of there as quickly as possible.

Well, Dennis, here’s a ‘new direction’ on Iraq, OUT, as in ‘any point on the compass in a distance equal to or greater than the mean average radius from the center of the country of Iraq. War’s been over for 3 years, at some point, the people of Iraq will, themselves, have to assume governance of their own country. It’d be really really cool if some of our legislators started taking a keener interest in fixing domestic problems, like chronic federal and state overspending for starters, and start figuring out how to kill off the national debt. I hope that Congress et. al. will stop trying to lead the country down the proverbial garden path, and instead start working on rebuilding our national infrastructure, and strongly exhorting the leaders of other countries to start doing the same. I think our military has done what it can to try and stabilize Iraq or whatever, what comes next will largely be up to the people themselves, and their neighbor countries. Some things, you just gotta do yourself, no one else can do it for you.

Every year this whole thing continues, it represents billions more in national debt. That debt already stands at 8.5 trillion, and it’s climbing, Dennis, every year. Maybe you could write to Texas Instruments, and see if they’d be willing to do something along the lines of ‘Calculators for Congress’ or something like that, and then go to Wal-Mart and get yourself a stencil kit, and some red spray paint, and go outside on the steps of Capitol Hill and every third step or so, make your mark on Washington
by putting down words on the steps like ‘public accountability’, ‘national debt’, ‘recall election’, ‘voter polls’, ‘do the math’, ‘change begins at home’, ‘no taxpayer left behind’, come up with some of your own slogans, too, don’t just use mine, but here’s some more, if you’re so inclined:’energy independence’, ‘global population growth’, ‘oil wars’, ‘impeachment is legal’, ‘anti-trust’, ‘lobbyist regulation’, ‘term limits’, ‘fraud investigation’, ‘ethics hearings’, so forth and so on, you kind of get the idea…

Anyway, that’s the principle of the thing, to my view, the ‘way forward’ in Iraq is again, any distance traveled in a straight line as measured from the middle of the country equal to or greater than the mean average radius, as in ‘out’, kind of like ol’ Sesame Street, ‘inside’, and ‘outside’. That should be a bout Sen. Kennedy’s speed, there...there, I’ve vented my spleen, I feel better…

It’s as Nader always said--the dems are just another bunch of bought-out crooks like the republicans.  They (both parties) keep this war going because every day it puts another 1/2 billion dollars of tax-payer money into various business pockets.  Kucinich for pres!

What is really interesting is people think the Democrats are better than the Republicans people they are of the same cloth. Not one has called for the impeachment of Bush nor stripping him of the powers Congress foolishly gave up. People need to make sure that these democrats know that they too are not secure in the majority.

As far as Rahm Emanuel, people need to know that Emanuel is not his birth name. Do research on Rahm Emanuel and you will find he has dual citizenship..US&Israel;. He is the spy in the white house. Rahm Emanuel you will find that he went to fight a war in Israel while claiming to be a US citizen. Now he is advocating more money for war?

People do not sleep on the democrats they too are bought and paid for by crooks and criminals. It time to clean both houses and both parties. These people have been there too long. They are a bunch of done nothings also.

Are Americans so damn stupid as to realize they need to get rid of foreigners in the government who are only serving their countries and not the US.

They call themselves “Cultural Warriors” these arm-chair vigilantes who themselves do not do any fighting beyond shouting on the airwaves an in books - the Limbaughs, O’Reillys, Coulters, Savages, and the Becks. Vile people who never offer solutions; only hatred of anything differing from their fantasy image of what America should be: white christians in nice homes with a working Dad and a stay-at-home breeding Mom. All people “of color” need to stay on their side of the border thank-you-very-much.

These “Cultural Warriors” egg people on though, don’t they. This War would not have happened if enough people actually were educated enough to know that a military occupation NEVER GOES WELL NOR AS PLANNED AND ALWAYS HAVE COSTS VASTLY GREATER THAN IMAGINABLE.

This is not “Dubya-Dubya-Two” where our Audie Murphy’s kills all the “bad guys”. This war was ordained to be a mess from conception. Only people who have learned their history by WATCHING MOVIES would have thought that the U.S.A. could possibly have turned Iraq into a “beacon of democracy” by force and invasion.

Occupation is a violent act. Occupation makes people angry!

In this country we have millions of people in an uproar when their electricity goes out for more than 12 hours! When they are inconvienenced in line for the latest Playstation!

Can you imagine living in a country with hundreds of thousands dead over five years by another countries bombs and soldiers? With foreign tanks blowing up houses? Foreign troops kicking down doors and arresting your neighbors? You would be so angry you’d want to fight back any way you could!

But, no. Our “leaders” want to be written about as “heros” who brought democracy to the Middle East.

But at what cost? At what cost!

I’m 100% positive that many TruthDig readers KNOW that there is sufficient grounds for impeachment.

Is there not a single Congressperson that is capable of taking this truth to the public. Dennis is saying great things about Iraq, but he doesn’t ever address the case for impeachment.

Why can’t one single Congressperson state clearly that there is a very serious case for impeachment, for charges of treason to be brought against the criminals in the Executive Branch. To state this and demand a real debate, open to the public, broadcast on C-span. And I mean Demand it- To go outside the “Today” show and bang on the windows during taping, then maybe they’d let him in to talk… after a week or two.

Like all bully’s, the United States will not stop being the world bully until it gets a real bloody nose. I’m afraid that we people who oppose the war can only wait until that happens. No amount of logical analysis and persuation is going to stop a national leadership that persists in sustaining the attitude of a bully. And believe me, when it comes to “bully attitudes”, there is no difference between the two parties.

Ah!  The other wing of the War Party has finally shown its colors!  People, the time has now come to shut down the Democratic Wing of the War Party once and for all.  I am voting for the Green Party all the way in 2008!

I stopped voting for Democrats, even in the last election, because it was obvious they weren’t going to change a thing. . . and they are quickly showing I was right. As near as I can tell, Kucinich has been, for quite some time, the only honest man in Washington, and I hope he runs again for President.

The members of Congress have for so long been sucking on the lobby tit that they really don’t feel much of a need to do what their constituants would want in regards to Iraq, Health Care, or just about anything else. The sad fact is that there is precious little difference between the parties. The republicans blindly goose-step behind Rove / Bush and the democrats with but a few exceptions are too afraid to stick their necks out on any principal. Your are hard pressed to identify what any of them stand for except what their party leaders tell them. Rep. Kucinich stands out almost alone as one of our politicians who somehow is able to remember why he was elected to the Congress. To represent the people of both his district and the nation as a whole. Its time we start demanding some actions on the issues that really effect us all like our pathetic health care system, the ridiculous cost of higher education, a tax system that favors only the wealthy, and holding this administration accountable, finally, for causing so much damage to America. Its time we vote out all the politicians who are not working dillegently on these issues.

Has anybody here actually sat down and talked with Mr. Kucinich? I interviewed him a few years ago. Unfortunately, folks, he is way, way too intelligent and honest to be elected President.

There should be an income tax “war surcharge” levied every time a war appropriations bill is passed.  After all, we have to pay for our little wars. right?  So for each of your senators and your congressman who voted “yes” you get a 10% surcharge.  All three voted “Yes?” Fine.  Add 30 % to your “tax owed” line on the 1040 form.

Put THAT law on the books and then let’s see who in Congress really thinks we ought to continue funding this “war.”

This administration has continually outwitted the democrats on Iraq. I voted for democrats this last election because I truly felt that that they would fight to end this war while knowing in my heart that this bunch of clowns would be no different than the last. The only way we, the people, will ever be able to make a change in Washington is if we vote against the incumbent every election until they finally get the message that we will hold them accountable.

To support more funding for the war, democrats are pushing their luck. Voters aren’t going to forget this.

Whoever supported this WMD to war in Iraq ought to be kicked out in the next election.

Whether we all agree with Mr. Kucinich or not on the question of withdrawal of US military from Iraq, it is an affront to our democracy for the matter not to be debated. Congratulations to Mr. Kucinich and to his supporters for making the option of withdrawal relevant.

BTW, I hope we all know by now, Kucinich has declared his candidacy for President in 2008.

The Democratic leadership in Congress need to understand that they have run out of excuses; the voters took those away in November.  They will now pay a terrible political price if they continue to support the Iraq war. 

I’ve been saying all along that if someone votes for the war, votes to continue funding the war, and generally acts as if they support the war, we can safely assume that they SUPPORT THE WAR.  The reasons simply don’t matter; maybe Halliburton is paying them off under the table, maybe they’re afraid of political repercussions, maybe they’re afraid of being locked up as enemy combatants.  And maybe they’re just imperialists.  Remember, Viet Nam was the Democrats’ war.  If they refuse to stop it, it is theirs, and we will have to vote accordingly.  And about time.

You can contact your Representative to say so; you can also do something more dramatic:  change your registration.  There is a progressive party in this country:  the Greens.  Sure, they’re feeble; that’s because so many progressives lack the courage of their convictions.  So far, we’ve let ouselves be bamboozled by the Dems. 

Tired of bait and switch?  Suspecting that it’s absolutely deliberate and they’re not going to stop?  Join the Greens; let’s all work hard on our campaign apparatus and offer Kucinich the Presidential nomination in two years.  By then, he’ll be ready to switch, too. 

A party is only as good as the people in it.  ‘08 is going to be an interesting year:  Bush will have put the Republicans deep in the toilet, and the way they’re going, the Dems will be there, too, with the Iraq albatross stinking around their necks.  It’s going to be a very good year for new parties.  So let’s all make it happen, if the Dems don’t shape up fast.  And tell your Representative THAT.

Yes we have to create such an uproar that Congress rejects this supplemental bill to fund the Iraq war.  Why?  Because if we don’t the slaughter continues and who else but ourselves to blame, being that we’ll have had our chance and failed.

This soon after the election we should not be having to make lists of possible motives for the people we just put in power in Wash. to be doing an about face on everything they know we wanted..but here goes the list....#1. how many of them owe their eyeteeth to AIPAC? 2.Do they really believe that the Rove’s, the neo-cons and other vampires who have control of the GOP will go for that “let’s just all be friends and make a better gov’t.”, stuff? If they believe it then they haven’t been keeping track of the traps the Republicans have set for them many times and they are walking right into another. Certainly by 2008 their neo-con media troops will be out in force saying it was the Democrats who wanted to stay in Iraq, and they’ll pull up the number of Dem. votes for the 160 billion to prove it. By 2009 they will have at least half of the Americans convinced that the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was really more a DEM. idea than a REP. one.

The new democratic leadership has given up their moral principles in exchange for political advantages and practicalities.  They have breached their constitutional duties by agreeing not to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney when it is obvious form publicly disclosed documents that war crimes have been committed by his administration.
