Satire: Bush Gets GroundedPosted on Nov 19, 2006In yet another setback for President George W. Bush, his father, former President George H.W. Bush, appeared in the Oval Office today and demanded that his son give back the keys to the White House at once.
For the elder Mr. Bush, who has largely taken a hands-off approach during his son’s first six years in office, the decision to demand the keys to his erstwhile residence was regarded as extraordinary.
After the 41st president reprimanded the 43rd president for invading Iraq, the younger Mr. Bush attempted to offer a defense for his unilateral action, telling his father, “All of my friends said that it was a good idea.” “Oh, and if all your friends told you to go AWOL from the Alabama National Guard, would you do that, too?” his father thundered. “OK, well maybe that wasn’t the best example, but you get the point.” Speaking to reporters later, the 41st president said that he forbade his son from spending time with Vice President Dick Cheney, calling him “a bad influence.” “I told George to spend the weekend mowing that big lawn in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” he said. “I want him to think long and hard about what he’s done.” Elsewhere, the bipartisan Iraq Study Group issued recommendations for winning the war in Iraq, including putting former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in charge of the insurgents. By Margaret Currey, November 22, 2006 at 1:34 pm # The reason Hitler almost won was that the people were dissatisfied and the wourld was in the grips of a Great Depression, if the presidental powers are increased and the congress is just a stamp, than we have no more democracy, remember that Bushie Boy still has the power of the veto, and even though he did not use it last year that is because there was no one who want against the Boy with no clothes, I just hope that the rest of the neocons get impeached, there is still time to mess up. By Eleanore Kjellberg, November 20, 2006 at 5:16 pm # Did Bush have a set of keys--I thought he broke into the building, with the help of the Supreme Court.
By Warren Greer, November 20, 2006 at 5:01 pm # #38839 by bob on 11/19 Please don’t misuse ‘begging the question’ any more. It has fallen into disrepute by teen-agers using it to mean ‘asking the ‘question,’ *** LOGICAL FALLACIES
By AnnaCatherin, November 20, 2006 at 2:48 pm # Who’s running this show anyway? Picture this going on in any other country. The administration is coming unglued. Old Bush, Kissinger, Baker, et al just waltz in and take over. These old geezers don’t put me at ease. They’re in this to cover butts over things that happened a long time ago. There’s so much wrong here. The Whitehouse is in chaos. It’s just crazy.
By republicanfreezone, November 20, 2006 at 12:09 pm # Is 43 capable of safely operating a lawnmower? GASP!
By chuck, November 20, 2006 at 9:36 am # W is nothing without Daddy’s, Cheney’s,& Rummy’s advise & counsel. W is inept about domestic affairs/priorities:healthcare for Americans, social security, the environment, the deficit, the balance of trade & only knows International, ie: The Axis of Evil. He also is seeking more advise from Baker’s group because W doesn’t know what to do now about the chaos in Iraq. He is the wrong guy for the job at hand.
By Larry Anklam, November 20, 2006 at 9:03 am # Has America ever had a MORE IGNORANT man as President of these United States???
By MARIAM RUSSELL, November 20, 2006 at 8:30 am # So, just how badley do we need the ¨Bush Dynasty¨or any other ¨Dynasty¨in this country? WHEN ARE WE THE PEOPLE GOING TO WAKE UP TO THE TOTAL DISDAIN, SHOWN BY THE MONEY PEOPLE WHO RUN THE REP PARTY AND DIRECT THIS SORRY SHOW, FOR THE CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTRY BY RUNNING AND CAUSING TO BE ELECTED THE LIKES OF RREAGAN THEN THE BUSHES AND QUAYLE, AND CHENEY. TO PUT THIS CALIBRE OF PERSON IN THE POSITION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE GOVERNANCE OF THIS COUNTRY IS THE SLAP IN THE FACE THAT SHOULD HAVE SENT THE ENTIRE POPULACE ROUND THE BEND. AS SORRY A LOT AS THE DEMOCRATS HAVE ELECTED, AND I SAY SORRY BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN TRUE TO TRUE DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPALS AND HAVE DANCED TOO MUCH WITH THEM ¨WHUT BRUNG EM¨I.E., THE BIG CORPORATIONS AND THE TRILATERAL COMMISSION, AND EVERY OTHER SEMI-SECRET SOCIETY WHITE MEN WITH POWER SEEM TO DELIGHT IN. THEY, KENNEDY, JOHNSON, CARTER, AND CLINTON COULD AT LEAST ¨READ, RITE, AND REASON¨, AND WERE NOT CARICATURES OF REAL PEOPLE.
By The Freewheeling Socrates, November 20, 2006 at 6:11 am # What is the truth about the events of nine one one, 2001? If you recall, nine one one was the trigger for marching the United States into hell. What part did Bush Sr. play? What’s really going on? The average net surfer of alternative websites will have ingested the 911 Truth Movement. But the truth is buried under proliferating layers of obfuscation and CIA patsies such as “Osama Bin Laden,” and “Al Qaeda.” We can not know what is going on now until we know the truth about the events that took us to this place in history.
By Bukko in Australia, November 20, 2006 at 3:29 am # Borowitz forgot to mention that Daddy took the keys to Air Force 1, but he forgot to confiscate the starter to the family Abrams tank, and the snotty kid looped donuts across the White House lawn instead of mowing it…
By bob, November 19, 2006 at 10:34 am # I must say that one of the most ironic outcomes of last weeks midterm elections was the redemption of the former President Father George Herbert Walker Bush’s legacy. For “Sonny” has done more to repair his “Dad’s” image with the destruction of his won. I mean standing next to his father’s record the senior Bush looks like a genius. Which begs the question, just who’s side of the family did Boy George take from? Obviously he was no Fathers son. Because for the last 6yrs he acted in a way that was the total opposite of dear old dad’s way of thinking. So the only conculstion I can come up with was that it be Mom’s side of the family. For he’s acted just like a mamma’s boy for the last fifty some odd years. Now there is nothing wrong with that either, so long as there has been demonstrated long the way the proper parental restaint of behavior. Yet my guess is that he must have been allowed to get away with whatever he wanted to, without any checks or balances. I mean ‘Lil, Georgie” must have never been capable of doing anything wrong in mamma’s eye’s. Hence he has become the grown up arrogant monster we see today. Which brings me the point, as I look back on all the world’s former dictators; I find a very common thread; they were all arrogant idiots. Could it also be they were all as well, mamma’s boys too? If I am not mistaken one the most infamous was; Aldolf Hitler was.
By Vigilante, November 19, 2006 at 8:40 am # Daddy’s friends are going to have to go to more trouble to get George out of Iraq, than they had to go to keep him out of Vietnam.
By Quy Tran, November 19, 2006 at 6:46 am # Is that a big buffoonery playing between the two clowns ? I never trusted both of them. The King father in one interview with R. Scheer said that “don’t break the law, don’t lie” but he himself lied a lot. How many time his son broke the law and lied to the whole civilized world ? You name its. The King son put his father’s teachings under his throne and sits on them. A big big farce !
