Iranian Ex-President: U.S. Mideast Policy a ‘Joke’Posted on Nov 2, 2006

If you knew your current history you would realize he was elected. Just because he has his head covered doesn’t make him a murderous fanatical dictator.

Another joke article on this site!!
Report thisThe day these arab & muslim dictators, who call themselves leaders appointed by Allah, are gotten out of power, will be the day when peace will come to that part of the world and Islam will become a peaceful religion !
Same thing happened to Christians in Europe, when the kings of England, France & Spain said they were appointed by G-d to rule. Only until they were overthrown, and democracy came to Europe, did Christianity become a peaceful religion !
Learn from history, there is no place in the world for fanatics who claim they rule or kill in the name of G-d !

For too many years the United States has gone around the world ostensibly promoting democracy when what she’s really promoting (and protecting)are capitalism and capitalists - and the world is finally beginning to catch on.
Other than that, there is a strange disconnect between those who promote religion as a necessary part of government in our country while, at the same time, decrying the admix in other countries - most particularly if their religion ISN’T Christianity. Veiled women? Despicable. An ecclesiastical government in my body, my sex life, my bedroom and my school? Perfectly acceptable.

From the first comment.....America’s Foreign Policy is a joke, and the joke is on the American people. Politicians set up and administer our goals and demands to other nations. Goals and demands that are not voted on by the American public. Politicians can not burden themselves with the time it would take to explain to every American why we demand or set goals for nations to adhere to. If nations do not do as we demand or expect we sanction them or set up an embargo or cut them off from resources that they need......in other words, we bully the hell out of any nation that does not see things our way!!!!! This leads to American discontent around the world, and the politicians play dumb.
Report thisThey play dumb when it is discovered that they send marines into other countries to help freedom fighters/terrorists/gurellas against factions we do not support(see Osama Bin Laden)
They play dumb when they are exposed for breaking their own laws in the international community by “do as i say not as i do” policy.
(see Iran Contra)
They play dumb when America or their intrests get attacked by foreigners.Remember the look on the presidents face when he was told that the towers had been hit......dumbness.
The American public does not sanction other countries and put them in despair and ruin...American politicians....Democrats and Republicans....Have put us all in harms way without us knowing it.....but do they accept the blame??? No. They want us to blame those that attacked us without giving us any compelling reason why. They think we are all stupid so the best excuse they can give us is that there are people in the world that hate our freedoms? What Freedoms!!!!!!!!! Bush and his cronies have run the White House like a plantaion!!! If you are good and tow the line, we will treat you kind, but if you open your mouth against us expect a whipping you will never forget!!!!!
Pay attention to what other leaders from other parts of the world say. If you are dissmissive about their comments because you do not understand them them you should get to learning so you can understand.
Do not belittle what other world leaders have to say about situations within the world caused by other leaders.....regardless of what you think the United States do not own the world, but are doing a heck of a job trying.
Too many non-military crackheads are in positions of power that put our military in harm’s way when they do not need to be. Militaries do not start wars, politicians do.

Bush is traveling around the country campaigning and asking what is the Dems plan regarding Iraq. There has been several including Jack Murtha’s of withdrawing American troops to bases in the area. Bush seems to be saying “I have screwed up in Iraq so bad I defy you to tell me how we can get out.” Of course even he knows “stay the course” is not a plan and he’s waiting for James Baker to bail him out.

I sincerely hope the learership and people of Iran do not make the mistake of considering the policies of the Corpgov of this United States a joke. More than a million dead is no joke.
These people are deadly serious. And to consider these policies only the work of the present administration is also a mistake. These are the policies planned for 60 years ago. These people are just more unattractive in their presentation, but make no mistake, the body count of the other administrations is as bad.

Bush’s foriegn policy in the Middle East had no noble aims, just some noble rhetoric that has grown quite tired. Mohammad Khatami is not an extremist, he is a moderate who was undercut by extremists. We are the ones who have systematically undermined moderates such as Mohammad Khatami while propping up extremists, or engaging in ill-conceived policies that increase mainstream support for extremists. American foriegn policy continues to make the soil furtle for more radicalized fanatics.

There’s nothing funny about any of this. If any ship in the Eisenhower Battle Group is hit by anything, it could launch WWIII, and since US Special Forces have been operating inside Iran for over a year, anything could happen.
Forget the elections, one can only hope the less-than-Strange-Love faction of the oligarchy has authorized enough limited hangout to undermine them. That lot retains at least enough sanity to motivate their moves to rein in the madmen. This could be part of that sequence.
Again, if WMD go off, don’t look to the cave, to the laptop, to bin Laden; don’t look to the Axis of Evil. Look to Cheney and Cheney’s handlers.

Have you ever been to Iran? I am curious to know if your opinion is based on your iranian experience in Iran or spoon fed by media.

Great. Forget noble aims right? Let’s listen to an extremist and agree with him. A joke is how there is NO freedom of expression in Iran. May I remind you that people of Iranian descent can live freely and openly in America which is the way it should be. Get off the pot.

I think the word joke should be replaced by blunder. It is a blunder to introduce democracy in the Middle East countries because it gives the clerical power. We end up giving power to those who are most undemocratic.

Khatami makes sense. You cannot export Democracy to foreign,Islamic,or any other dialect: Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Who are we, the USA, telling others to adapt Democracy or not have bombs, when we have all of these weapons here in the US? Bush & Cheney getting us involved in Iraq was a big mistake. We should have gone into Afganistan and not given up until we found bin Laden. Then consider going into Iraq to get Sadam (Bush’s father should have gotten him in the Gulf War) This is all nonsense at Billions of Dollars per hour! Speak up Americans on Nov. 7th
