video round up

In this week’s edition of the best Truthdig-flavored videos: Bush makes a stunning statement on Iraq’s connection with 9/11; a black “Daily Show” reporter rails on Republicans for not being racist enough; and Ann Coulter gets her comeuppance.

No. 1 Bush Admits Iraq Had “Nothing” to Do With 9/11

At this press conference, the president comes refreshingly (although just a tad belatedly) clean about the fact that Iraq played no part whatsoever in the Sept. 11 attacks.

A howler from Bush: “Nobody’s ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack.” OK, maybe not in those words, but how ’bout in these?

No. 2 CBS Islam Analyst to Stewart: We’re Losing a Marketing Campaign to Cave Dwellers

In an interview with Jon Stewart, author and CBS News analyst Reza Aslan calls America’s war on terror a “marketing campaign,” and then wondered aloud, “Now, how the United States is losing a marketing campaign to people who live in caves....”

No. 3 Black “Daily Show” Reporter: GOP’ers Aren’t Racist Enough

Jon Stewart’s “senior black correspondent” Larry Wilmore says that Republicans like Tony Snow and Va. Sen. George Allen are giving real racists like Strom Thurmond a bad name.

No. 4 Matthews, Hackett Demolish GOP Candidate

This one was so brutal it almost wasn’t fun to watch. Almost. NBC’s Chris Matthews and antiwar veteran Paul Hackett make mincemeat of Texas GOP congressional candidate Van Taylor, whom they repeatedly chastised for using meaningless talking points. Taylor was more out of his depth than George Bush at a Mensa convention.

No. 5 Faced With Reality, Coulter Walks

When conservative hate mistress Ann Coulter told two Democratic strategists on Fox News that Afghanistan was “going swimmingly,” they went to town on her, and Coulter cut her interview short.

I watch to hear both views. Not allowing people to respond and give their opinions is not done to jounalism standards, but a manipulation of the interview, intended to mis-report, and mis-represent, and deny me the right to hear all sides. Three cheers for Ann.

Great to see Coulter get the attention she should be getting. NONE.

Too often people like her get media attention because their views make ‘news’. The more extreme the better because it creates arguments and keeps people tuned in - like passing the scene of an accident.

Everyone has their own version of what is real, but her version is along the same lines as the guy who rides his bike around my town screaming obscenities at no one.

In my objective and sympathetic (really) opinion, the woman has mental issues.

Great stuff--Hannity doing his usual brow beating and talking over top of the guest etc, while Coulter smirks away.Apparently its quite amusing for her to have someone else raked over the coals, but when the richly deserved contempt is aimed in her direction she whines and cries like the disgusting spoiled bitch that she is,and then runs away like a whipped dog.Beautiful.

In one moment of lucid truthfulness, Bush FINALLY told the world outright that Iraq had nothing to do with the Twin Towers on 9-11.  I nearly fell out of my chair when he said it! Over three years in Iraq and the man FINALLY tells the truth! God help our country.

Why oh why did the party decide to undermine the “fightin’ Dem” from Ohio? He’s just what is needed in Washington. Too bad our Democratic process is still controlled by the boys in the (now non-smoking)back rooms.

I really appreciate Truthdig, Huffington Post, Crooks and Liars, and many others, for passing along these clips.
I no longer have the stomach for watching FOX for more than a few minutes at a time.

It’s good to see a person who acts like she knows everything shut down. It’s not often Ann’s superior, though morally groundless, attitude is given the ol heave ho. Kudos to Kirsten Powers! ‘Afghanistan is going swimmingly”? When did Ann Coulter lose her sense of reality? Oh yeah, when she sold her soul to the neo-cons.

I don’t agree with Coulter or really care what she has to say but I wanted to comment on the reference to her looking like a horse (pictured below the vid of her little tantrum.) Can we grow up and not deride how people look?  It also makes me angry when talented comedians make fun of people’s weight. Now THAT’S ugly. Why make fun of her face?  I’d like to see a picture of the person who’s idea it was to draw the equestrian comparison.  No, I don’t work for Ann Coulter!

Reading Russerts words in the link found in “A howler from Bush: “Nobody’s ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack.” OK, maybe not in those words, but how ’bout in these?”

I’m struck by how much of a cheeleader Russert is for the invasion - it’s almost like he’s goading Cheney and Rice to say Iraq was responsible for 9/11. It’s a symbiotic relationship Russert has with these people. He is no more objective than Anne Coulter but he is a lot smarter and much more subtle.

Sweet!
Looks like Hannity left her in the lurch. Ann looks so pathetic, begging for help offstage.

A true lightweight.
