Weekly Video Roundup

Check out the best of this week’s Truthdig-flavored videos. Among them: Scottish MP George Galloway ripping into a Sky News anchor; a 1960s TV reporter sounding off on the threat of sexual perversion; and antiwar vet Paul Hackett showing up Stephen Colbert.

No. 1

George Galloway, the Scottish MP who came to international prominence for his outspoken opposition to the war in Iraq, engages in a heated (and abusive) debate with a Sky News anchor over the morality of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. We don’t agree with Galloway on everything, but this is the rare shouting match with substance.

No. 2

Check out this ultra-campy educational film from the 1960s about the rise of pornographic culture. Money quote: “We know that once a person is perverted, it is practically impossible for that person to adjust to normal attitudes in regards to sex.”

No. 3

Jon Stewart had a roundup Thursday of a bizarre recent trend: Armageddon ?news? coverage.  Behold this montage of shame, in which every TV news outlet from ?Good Morning America? to MSNBC seemed to make an appearance.  CNN, in its quest for fact, checked something called a ?Rapture index,? while Fox News demanded a Rapture timetable, prompting Stewart to comment, ?That?s the timetable Fox News is demanding we have.”

No. 4

The ex-Senate candidate and Iraq war vet Paul Hackett asked Stephen Colbert, “Do you really think we’re going to spread democracy with the business end of an M-16?” Colbert’s response was classic. Check it out.

No. 5

Jon Stewart presided over a mock game show on Tuesday, during which he played highlights of Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice and Alberto Gonzales contradicting themselves and refusing to answer the simplest of questions.

Why does everyone have to look at it one sided?  Both sides should be heard and then it should be decided which story is credible.  I thank George Galloway for at least letting me see the other perspective.  I am sorry guys but he seems more credible. Also doesn’t it say in the Torah that they are not suppose to have a land of their own?  If the first world countries can house so many religions why can they be okay with a non-muslim or non-christian or non-jew.  If the Muslims are okay with the Christians living in Lebanon I am pretty sure they would be okay with humble Jews living there. This conflict is never gonna end is it, huh?

Nice montage for this week’s installment of “As Insanity Turns.”  All were striking in relevance.  All were engaginging in issue exposure.  And, all worked to reinforce the causal dynamics that have put the whole world, it seems, in harm’s way.

In the end, the absurdity of Condi Rice giving us, on national TV no less, what amounts to a 7th grade social studies observation of the Chinese culture was downright insulting.  Also, it shows how much she is willing to brown-nose the China since that country owns most of our national debt. I’d hate to meet this WH gang in a dark alley - that is, if they were on my side .  -Kevo

In re # 18099

Talk about conspiracies, whenever a Jew makes a rational statement involving other Jews, it’s another World Jewish Conpiracy this time launched by the Jewish Military.

Well actually I’m going to disclose out biggest secret. Our global communication network is actually facilitated by Jewish women that contact us telepathically by means of those funny little caps like the Pope wears? Except we all get our own.

We’re actually a Homosexual phallic worship Godess cult. I know that’s too many words, but you know, commie faggot Jews. It’s all centrally planned. And the head of this vast world conspiracy ... Mory and his wife.

That’s right, the nice couple with the deli. They don’t make a big thing. Nice people.

“Do you? If not they blow up your house and then the Scottish MP and other Anti-Judaics blame it on Israel, Liberals duped by the world Jewish Conspiracy &c, &c.”

Good to see that people are making full use of that free Megaphone software from the Israeli government. In a day or two I fully expect to see a paen to IDF appear on my Etch-a-Sketch.

We need a sheriff to take back our country.  Do we have a George Galloway in this country?  Can we find one.  The home of the coward.  Except of course the people who are fighting and dieing for these dispicable, lieing, cowards.

Well, well, well.  It seems as if rightwing lunacy is on full display for all the world to see.  The Win, Lose, or Withdraw segment with Jon Stewart was excellent.  It put the precise emphasis that was needed on the Bush White House to show just how radical and foolhardy these people are.

This matter with the Scottish MP is actually far more important than many realize because it provides a window view on that part of the anti-war sentiment that makes it 50% or more opposed - viz., “populist” anti-Judaism; it’s a Jew Merchant leech conspiracy to dupe the Crown of England, destroy Israel makes the Jews conform to Western Hegemony, &c, &c.

For even more insight into this situation, imagine yourself in a typical single family residential district and a bunch of “your” people - e.g., ‘Hi we’re Irish so you have to let us hide here’ demand to hide out in your house after blowing up some building or people on main street a few blocks away; and that this continues over an extended period of time until it’s really no longer a secret that you and your neighbors are accommodating these people. So local government decides one day to give official notice ‘okay this is your last clear chance to relent’. Do you? If not they blow up your house and then the Scottish MP and other Anti-Judaics blame it on Israel, Liberals duped by the world Jewish Conspiracy &c, &c.

But the thing that really astonishes me in all of this is the analogous situation where the KKK went “legit” had Lynard Skynard Charlie Daniels &c (condemning Neil Young’s “Southern Man” and “The South’s Gonna Do It Again” bosh) and this whole ‘movement’ was “protected” by the jaw boning of Strom Thurmond and ironically Jimmy Cracker.

Strom is dead. So is Arafat. How long before this reality catches up to these people?

Let’s see. Bush vetoed stem cell research because it kills innocent human life that will instead be tossed in the trash. Condi postpones a push for a Lebanon cease fire to avoid the endlessly repeated “status quo ante.” So, I guess the administration feels innocent human life only exists at the pre-natal stage. Kids killed by US smart bombs in Beirut were probably going to end up as terrorists carrying smoothies aboard jets. Yeah, right. Good thing the Bushies have not gotten involved in wife beating and child abuse.
