| Battle Cry for TheocracyPosted on May 11, 2006
Editor’s note: In this opinion piece, a young activist explores the frightening world of a Christian evangelical youth movement that is holding rock concerts and rallies at city halls nationwide this weekend. (First column a series of three. Second column here, third column here.)
If youve been waiting to get alarmed until the Christian fascist movement started filling stadiums with young people and hyping them up to do battle in Gods army, wait no longer. In recent weeks, BattleCry, a Christian fundamentalist youth movement, has attracted more than 25,000 people to mega-rally rock concerts in San Francisco and Detroit, and this weekend it plans to fill Wachovia Stadium in Philadelphia.
The leaders of BattleCry claim that their religion and values are under attack, but amid spectacular light shows, Hummers, Navy SEALs and military imagery on stage, it is BattleCry that has declared war on everyone else. Its leader, Ron Luce, insists: This is war. And Jesus invites us to get into the action, telling us that the violent—the forceful ones—will lay hold of the kingdom.
BattleCry is a part of the evangelical organization Teen Mania, and you can learn a lot about the kind of society that Teen Mania is fighting for by reading up on its Honor Academy, a non-accredited educational institution that offers directed internships to 700 undergraduate and graduate youth each year. Among the academys tenets: Homosexuality and masturbation are sins. Interns are forbidden to listen to secular music, watch R-rated movies or date; men cant use the Internet unsupervised; the length of womens skirts is regulated. The logic behind this—that men must be protected from the sin of sexual temptation—is what drives Islamic fundamentalists to shroud women in burkhas!
Teen Mania and BattleCry are multimillion-dollar operations that send more than 5,000 missionaries to more than 34 countries each year. Their supporters and members are some of the most powerful and extreme religious lunatics in the country. BattleCrys partners include Pat Robertson (who got a call from Karl Rove to discuss Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito before the nomination was made public), Charles Colson (who as President Richard Nixon’s lawyer was knee-deep in the Watergate scandal and who went to jail for obstruction of justice in the Pentagon Papers case), and Jerry Falwell (who blamed Sept. 11 on homosexuals, feminists, pagans and abortionists). BattleCrys events have been addressed by former First Lady Barbara Bush (via video) as well as former President Gerald Ford. This weekends event will include Franklin Graham, who has ministered to George W. Bush and publicly proclaimed that Islam is an evil religion. What most of these figures have in common is their insistence that the Bible be read literally and obeyed as the inerrant word of God. And, because Ron Luce leads youth to say in prayer, I will keep my eyes on the battle, submitting to Your code even when I dont understand,” it would be foolish to expect that there is any part of the Bibles literal horrors this movement would be unwilling to enforce, including stoning disobedient children and non-virgin brides (Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and 22:13-21), executing gays (Leviticus 20:13), and keeping slaves (Peter 2:18).
Luce’s followers staged a protest in March on the steps of San Franciscos City Hall because gay weddings had taken place there. Their answer to the scourge of rape and violence against women is to end the right of divorce, spread ignorance and insist on virginity - the very things that will entrap more women in these nightmares. And this Friday, they are planning rallies at 50 city halls nationwide. Of course, like the president, who gave Ron Luce an appointment to the White House Advisory Commission on Drug-Free Communities, BattleCry tells its share of bald-faced lies. For one, it claims that a society fortified by Biblical principals and a strong moral code ... is the heritage our forefathers fought and died to secure for us. But the word “God” never appears in the Constitution. After three and a half months of debate about what should go into the document that would govern the land, the framers drafted a secular constitution. BattleCry also claims America has been set aside for Gods purposes - a country established for good and fruitfully blessed so that we might take Gods message to the ends of the earth. It is revealing that for all its talk about the value of life and the evils of violent imagery, BattleCry never speaks against the real violence and loss of life being inflicted by U.S. troops in Iraq. Still, there is one thing that BattleCry gets right: This country is in the midst of a deep moral crisis. We are indeed living through times when business-as-usual is unconscionable. As the Bush regime wages unjust wars and conducts torture in our names, as it leaves New Orleans to rot and drags us closer each day to a theocracy in which abortion and birth control are banned, science is pulled under and gays are persecuted, it is no wonder that young people are searching for meaning and morality. However, the truth is that youth will not find the morality they need in a stadium listening to Ron Luce preach about religious war and intolerance. And they wont find it while buying BattleCrys keepsake dog tags. These young people need to be challenged to look around themselves and think for themselves. I am confident that if they do, many of them may find that the truly moral way to live is to throw their tremendous energies and dreams of a better world into stopping this madness and driving out the Bush regime. This generation - and its counterparts around the world - will have to live with the consequences of this culture war, one way or another. Sunsara Taylor writes for Revolution newspaper and sits on the advisory board of The World Cant Wait—Drive Out the Bush Regime. So people think God is domineering and controlling, and people think Christians are brainwashed...Well, if I’m brainwashed, I’m glad, because with this brainwashing I’ve seen miracles in my life and the lives of others! With this brainwaching I’ve found new hope and faith and a true reason to live and feel confident. People can say whatever they want about God and about Christianity but when it comes down to it, Christians win, so lay off. We don’t get bothered by petty comments, it just makes us pray harder for our generation. God isn’t a jerk. He wants me to love Him, and I do. He has healed me and my friends and family, he has kept me and my friends and my family safe, and that’s all I need to know. Battle Cry was an uplifting revival and God was there, and everyone who was there being appx 25,000 youth, was able to witness it! I was blessed, we were brought closer together, and I pray that all these people will someday find out how wonderful serving God really is. Who needs the world...It doesn’t last forever.

you make it seem that BattleCry is this horrible event.. but what if it was an atheist rally or a buddhist rally would you all be saying the same nasty comments...no probably not… so why is it you take your time to hate on our Faith in God..and no it doesn’t say in the Bible if your wrong you’ll got hell it says if you You don’t except Christ you’ll go to hell, and before you are going to hate on us Christians do research and no i’m not saying the internet i mean get a Bible or talk to Preacher or even contact ron Luce himself and ask him and stop making Christianity revolving around how we’re “anti-gay” theres more to it.

I’m one of the youth that went to the “rally” and I can tell you right now that just about everything you’ve stated here on this page is untrue. I’m sorry if people think they can live a life of sin and then feel guilty when they hear the truth, but that’s how it is. One day everybody will see the truth and they will know, unfortunetly, it will be too late for some, but you’re ngative comments aren’t helping you. And if they help you sleep at night congratulations but homosexuality is a sin and that’s all there is to it. No one said we were discriminating. God’s word says not to judge, so it’s not our place. Don’t put words in their mouth. R-Rated movies are full of sex and inappropriate language that those interns don’t need to see or hear but don’t make it sound like it’s a bad thing. That’s what they’re giving up for God, if you don’t like it, don’t become an intern there. If you don’t want to follow God you can take it up with Him, don’t bash us because we love the Lord and worship him in every way we can. I suppose your next move will be to back Spirit West Coast. That’s cool though. But don’t discriminate against us, we haven’t to you or anyone else. Thank you and God Bless.

A little bit down I wrote something. Why won’t you atheists and anti-Christians answer it. Oh and one thing I forgot:
Note to author of above article: I looked on your link and one was a link to a communist website called revolution. So since you are affiliated with communists you will understand why I don’t take you all too seriously.
Oh and if you guys are going to bring up the crusades like all anti-christians do:
Report thisThe crusades were started to stop the spread of radical Islam. I read several books on this and I am not so gullible that I take what people tell me. You might want to pick up a book on the crusades before you start talking (some guy mentioned them here earlier).

Worst Human rights record in history?
In the Inquistition, Crusades and Religious wars of Christianty all put together, about 40,000 died. This was not protastant Christianty at fault, but the corrupt, power-hungry cotholic church.
On the other hand, Atheist regeimes have slaughterd more people in the last century than all religions (including Catholicism, Islam, Protastantinsm, Zoroasterianism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism ect.) have since the beginning of time. put together.
Hitler killed over 8 million Jews. (no true christian would slaughter any race, least of all the people whom Yeshua (Jesus) came from.)
Stalin killed over 40 million of the russians, and turned the lush breadbasket of the Ukraine to wasteland.
Mao Tse Tung massacred over 300 million of his own people during the Cultural Revolution.
The list goes on and on. Pol Pot, Moussilini, Saddam, Idi Amin, Kim Jung Ill and so on and so forth.
Battlecry does not seek to take over the government. Last time Christianity was made part of the government, (Under the reign of the Roman Emperor Constintaine.) it was so altered and corrupted that it took it over a thousand years (Until the Reformation) to recover.
God bless you all!

So your organizations gave 2 million to katrina relief - true giving is giving with conditions - without preaching - w/o spreading the ‘word’. Give because it’s the right thing to do - not because you feel you need to brainwash millions more into believing fairy tales. Why not just donate the money without making sure people ‘get the message’. You can’t - you all have an ulterior motive - brainwash and convert.
And you take anyone who opposes you as an attack? Who calls upon credible and obvious correlations to your groups and some of the worst human rights offenders in history? If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.....

Part 2
But then again, who are YOU to say that I can’t believe in what I believe? Who are you to say that Battlecry is nothing but a bunch of Holy rollers who want to suck money out of us and to “brainwash” us? Who are you to say such things? You get angry because I disagree with what you’re doing, but do you see me insulting you? No. Do I see you insulting me and my faith? Yes. Look at that. You’re afraid. You cannot accept what I can accept, and that angers you because you cannot sway me to think otherwise. Me, and hundreds of millions of others, are the same. Granted, there are a lot of cultural christians, or hypocrits, out there, and unfortunately those are the ones that people look at when they see Christianity, and that’s really unfortunate, because there are a lot of us who do a lot of good.
Report thisAnd as far as ATF not doing anything: they donated over 2 million dollars to the Katrina relief fund, not including food, clothing, materials to rebuild homes and schools… ATF is just ONE of MANY Christian ministries whose sole purpose is to bring the message of Christ to the world.
If you think that Teen Mania is “trying to suck money out of kids”, think of it like this: Would you rather have kids spend money on cigaretts or drugs or alcohol? What about excess clothing? Or movies or porn? That’s what a LOT of people spend their money on, and Teen Mania helps them to see that if you give your money to a better cause, then you’re doing a great favor to the world. ATF brings the message of Christ to hundreds of thousands of people, many of them in pain, at their wits end because the world cannot help them. They want something more, and Christ WORKS THROUGH people like Ron Luce, WORKS THROUGH the bands that appear, to bring hope healing and love to them.
Adrian is right, you simply don’t understand. I think that if you did, you wouldn’t be insulting something that’s done so much GOOD. If you actually ATTENDED AN EVENT, you’d see for yourself that what you think isn’t true. Look at it like this, teenagers aren’t the only ones who go to those events. Thousands of parents do too, and do you see any parent who went to an event complaining on this site? No. You see a parent who had a child go and that parent didn’t understand why her child felt the way he /she did. Because that parent didn’t go to an event.
Plus, Battlecry isn’t the only one sharing the message of faith, there’s THOUSANDS of churches across the country doing the exact same thing, on a smaller scale. you’re spending so much energy on trying to prove that Battlecry is a bad thing that you aren’t looking at other churches, bands, singers, performers, actors, writers, producers, who are making a difference in the world and they aren’t being persecuted.
Also, we ARE living in the end of times. The Bible says that we are, and though it was written 1500 years ago, God worked through those writers of the Bible, he USED them to write it, and God doesn’t operate based on time. He exists outside of time, a day is a thousand years to him. Read up on Biblical prophecies, you’ll see what I mean. There’s plenty of them, and they all came true, the last one happening less than 50 years ago.

One thing that Ron Luce tells us every time is that we need to live what we preach, and that if we choose to become Christians, then we need to PROVE that we are Followers of Christ, and that we need to be “in the world but not of the world”. I hate to admit it Rob, but you’re right on one thing: some kids who go to ATF return home like nothing ever happened, and some people are hypocrits… but you aren’t giving credit to those who DO decide to live a radically different life, those who decide to take the world head on. One thing, John, that you have to understand is that you have no right to demand from God an answer to your prayer right away. It took God 3 years to get through to me, or rather, it took me 3 years to ALLOW God to get through to me. Who are you to demand from God an immediate answer, to mock me and say “(big yawn) The fire and brimstone crowd have been saying it is the end of times for centuries now. Dont you think that line is getting a little old.
Heres a bet:
You pray to Jesus that hunger will end or the poor will be healed or the liberal internet will burn in hell or the blind will see or WHATEVER YOU WANT.
Ill pray to my dog that tomorrow morning the world will be pretty much the same as it is today.
Lets see whose prayers are answered.”
You have absolutely NO faith in Christ, so obviously your arrogance towards Christians and towards Christ will appear. You don’t understand, Christians have been mocked ever since Christ was crucified, but the thing that matters most is, nothing you say can affect me. I AM BRAINWASHED, in the sense that I’ve come to know and accept something that you disagree with, and that scares you and annoyed you because you’ve grown up in a society that has grown away from God, it’s become custom to do whatever you want and to have no one to answer to. I think the thing that most people are fighting against is their own comfort, because they are so used to living a certain lifestyle, that once someone says that what they’re doing is bad, they freak out and say “Wow, you’re really creepy, who are you to say that?”

“Battle Cry is the best thing that happened to San Francisco Bay area.”
Oh of course. I mean, I happen to live in South San Francisco and I never stop hearing people talking about some wonderful neo-conservative fundamentalist youth movement preaching theocratic rule in America!
<sarcasm>
“Secular America is not America”
You know....the problem is that I’m looking that pesky old document known as the Constitution, and....well don’t ya know it? I don’t see any mention of culturally-exclusive gods or martyred crucified messianic figures. In fact, there’s pesky paragraph that’s called the First Amendment that makes it very clear.....
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”
So Tom, I’m sorry to say there’s really nothing in the Constitution that states that this country is for Christians only.

It is indeed amusing at how the liberal crowd insults Christianity. We are fascists, stupid, and ignorant people because we are against gay marriage and abortion...because we pray and go to Church? We are fools for not being atheist, agnostic, or for following our religion. Yet you , for all your rudeness and insults, are enlightened and open-minded people. Your hypocrisy and arrogance astounds me.
Report thisBetter idea: instead of insulting and berating Christians understand why we believe what we believe. We are not blowing up buildings or even advocating these sort of things. Christianity built the western world. Don’t believe me? Go read a book. Oh and yes I have read books and I am about to major in history by the way.
If teens protested that abortion and gay marriage should be legal then you would be happy and proud of them and would never dare insult them.
P.S.-note to author: I like how you called our troops “elite killing machines” and talked about how they murdered people in Iraq. The reason you can write the things you just wrote is because of those men who are trying to stabilize that nation and help the people in it! Once again you never once DARE to criticize the terrorists. Instead you criticize the people keeping you alive. Guess your not as wise and enlightened as you claim to be.
I’m not normally this curt but that article I found very rude and offensive with your insulting our troops and calling Christians fascists…

I had initially said my goodbyes to this article because it seems the majority of replies were coming from people who supported Teen Mania and Ron Luce’s lunacy, but it is nice to see some rational people popping in.
Report thisJohn, you are absolutely right, people have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years at this point. By the logic of most “end of times” prophecies, the world must have ended 80 times by now. The scary thing is that, in the fundamentalist Christian mindset, the worse things get, the better things will be. World War 3 would undoubtedly be a clear sign to these folks that their savior superhero would descend from the sky and save the day, and that is a terrifying prospect.
It’s also interesting to note that Battlecry doesn’t really do anything. They hold pointless protests, enjoy pyrotechnic shows, complain about pop culture and nonbelievers, listen to horrible Linkin Park and Creed-copy bands perform, and listen to High Priest Ron try and rouse them to some sort of Evangelical version of China’s Cultural Revolution.
But at the end of the day, when the show is over, the kids return to their normal teenage lives and go about their day. Talking about accomplishing great things and feeling good about yourself because some omnipotent god is watching over you isn’t the same as actually accomplishing social change. People have been trying these fundamentalist youth revolution organizations since the late 60’s with little success.

I feel sorry for all you brainwashed people. Unable to think for yourselves - take responsibility for your own actions and put your faith and actions in something that doesn’t exist.
You are the Brownshirts and Hitler Youth League all over again - except you replace Hitler with the name of your god.
Sad, sad, sad.
Grow up, get a job in the REAL WORLD, Pay taxes, worry about paying for health care, the rising cost of gas, the fact that we are the most hated nation in the world because of our prosperity and freedom and contribute something tangible to make the world a better place instead of a carbon copy of Iran with its oppressive rules against women (who are your equals whether you like it or not) and plunging us back into the Dark ages.
Start to pay your own bills, worry about how you’re going to send your kids to college, how you’re going to pay the rent - get your heads of your butts and stop thinking that your god will save you - he won’t. I don’t see rent payments and insurance payments and paychecks dropping from the sky. You all are idealists - well guess what kids, idealism doesn’t pay the bills and religion doesn’t either unless you get a slick conartist who preys on ypung impressionable kids to send all their money to him, listen to his ‘organizations’ mass produced media and whine to their parents they need more money so they can ‘spread the word’. If you all are soo passionate - fund it on your own - not on mommy and daddy’s backs. That’s right - move out at 12, 13, 13, 14, 15, 16 and get a job, find a place to live, but groceries, pay for insurance, pay rent, ultilies, transportation costs, school all on your own. You’ll soon realize what the real world is - and my friends - its not lining the pockets of Ron Luce.

You have to also understand that the Bible calls us to be a soldier for Christ (2 Timothy 2: 3)
“3Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
(ephesians 6:13)
“13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
(Psalm 35)
“Of David.
1 Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me.
2 Take up shield and buckler;
arise and come to my aid.
3 Brandish spear and javelin [a]
against those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.”
It is important to not confuse spiritual war with the idea that we are attacking people and expecting them to understand us without understanding God (and who CAN understand God??? He’s HUGE, there’s NO POSSIBLE WAY we can EVER understand Him) Teen Mania’s mission is to eliminate “Cultural Christians” by creating soldiers for Christ through actual lessons that people can relate to. If you ever go to an event, you’ll see that they do a very good job in relating with teen and young adult issues, they reach out to hundreds of thousands of teens for a reason, it isn’t like they’re spreading lies or teaching the wrong thing, they have it pretty close. They aren’t perfect, there are things that they can work on, but unless you attend an event, or look at a DVD set that you can buy, you can’t judge Teen Mania’s mission because of a mission’s trip, the two are very different. Please know that I am not with Teen Mania, but I do appreciate everything they’ve done for me, and as someone who went through his teenage years either in mental hospitals or suicidally depressed, I can say first hand that they aren’t going about it the wrong way, that they are very powerful BECAUSE they are relevant. They understand pain, because Teen Mania is RUN BY TEENS, yes, there’s the higher ups, but 95 percent of the whole organization is run by teens.
Report thislet me ask you something, what do you think Teen Mania is doing wrong? List specifics, because unless you tell them why you think they’re going about it the wrong way, how can you ever expect them to make you happy?
Also, Teen Mania isn’t trying so much to change society as much as it’s trying to form it’s own voice, to let society know that they can’t just SHUT Christianity out entirely like some people want to do. It’s important that Teen Mania is doing because we are creating an official VOICE that the world doesn’t want us to use because they don’t understand us. They want us to live in pain as long as they get money. The hospitals want us to stay there, want us to accept being gay as being normal, to turn to medicine instead of turning to God, to keep Christianity out of schools, hospitals, music, television, stores, you name it. Teen Mania isn’t trying to change anybody, just exposing the media and modern day America what is happening, how important it is to take a stand before we’re (christians) shut out of the picture entirely. Church attendace is dropping, the number of Bibles being sold is dropping, the number of suicides, drug and alcohol addiction, premarital sex, teen pregnancies and abortions are rising, and people don’t know who to blame this on. People expect us Christians to conform to the sick ways of the world and to perceive that as normal, and I’m going to tell you that that is NOT going to happen. Attend an event, you’ll see what I mean when I say that what they do is life changing for hundreds of thousands of people, and there’s a reason why San Francisco is afraid of them.

I know the Battlecry people. I once went on a mission with Teen Mania Ministries to Australia when I was 17. I know that they have good intentions. They desire to see God glorified and to make an impact for Him. This is good.
But..
I also know that while alot of what they say is truth, they are going about expressing it in the wrong way.
“For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms” Ephesians 6:12
“He (Jesus) will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets” Matthew 12-19
“Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?” Romans 2:4
“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outisde” 1 Corinthians 5:12
It’s true that society is depraved, it’s true God hates sin (God hates sin not the sinner), and we should be upset how good is called evil and evil is called good. It’s very appropriate to want soicety to change, to live rightly, but you cannot expect the attributes of a Goldy society from one that does not know Him. This is backwards.
They are, in a sense, angry at a blind world for not being able to see.
Tomorrow I and several other believers will be City Hall in San Francisco to silently protest the misrepresentation of the gospel of Christ.
We live here, and while Teen Mainia Ministries and those involved have good intentions, they are creating and bigger mess for us to clean up, and a wider valley between us and our nehibors to cross.
This is a war, not for cultural purity, (this comes after people have been touched by God, not before) but for the truth of God and the good news that Jesus died as the punishment for our sins so that we could be made FREELY right with God to reach our nehibors.

part 2
our message will be even MORE effective because people won’t be able to say that we’re hypocrites. Guys, have fun, but above all use this event to learn more about God. ATF isn’t just about fun, it’s about surrendering yourself to God, allowing Him to work in your life, and using the experiences that you have to keep going, to “Light the fire and keep it lit the whole year, and beyond.” When I was twelve (I’m almost nineteen now, I attended my first ATF event, and at first I went because of the music and because it was fun. But after a while, I realized that I have to get serious with God or else why bother faking what I felt while I was with thousands of other people? What was the point? I needed to get serious about God within my church, other Christian friends, through my speach, in my life, throughout ME. Becoming a Christian is a lifelong decision, and to those who may not know, you can become a Christian in churches as well, don’t feel like you need to attend an event because there’s no where else where you can hear God’s word… but it is important to go if you’re serious about learning more about God because the way that they preach God’s message is absolutely stunning, chances are you’ve never heard anything quite like it, and their PASSION for what they do is different from most people I meet. Be a true warrior for Christ, which also means loving those who disagree with us and are trying to shut us out of society (funny, how a country designed originally for religious freedom is now a country designed for freedom from religion.... what’s up with that?) But, brothers and sisters, you need to also be aware that this is going to happen one day, being Christian will be illegal, we’ll have to be Christians in private and if someone knows about our faith, we may have to die for the cause. But, you know what? Living the lie (that Jesus isn’t God), is SO MUCH WORSE than death. Because death on earth is temporary, spiritual death is eternal. Things are going to get much worse as time goes on, as people who think they’re doing the “right thing” shut us out entirely, creating a country.... creating a WORLD, free from religion. The Bible says it’s going to happen, and that’s why we need to save as many as we can before it’s too late. THAT’S Teen Mania’s true mission.

I agree, we need to stop arguing about this and actually LIVE the Word! Those who have seen Christ work and do miracles are the ones who have strong voices in the Lord, and my voice is STRONG because I KNOW that Jesus is real, and I KNOW that JESUS SAVED ME. People, I am really excited that we’re in the end of times, because that means that things will heat up so much more than ever before in history. If you will read the book of Revelation or the Left Behind series, you’ll see an account of what the end of times will look like, and you’ll realize the awesome power of God. “Jesus is the Lord, He reigns forevermore!!!” It’s SO important that we NEVER even for one MINUTE sit down and be silent, because the enemy will use that silence to influence the unsaved that we are weak, and that they can trample all over us. You wanna know WHY it’s so important that ATF doesn’t leave San Francisco? Because if we leave, that’s running from the enemy, and how can God’s army RUN!? That would be a victory for satan, and we should NEVER give victory to the devil. We need to stand up and be strong, accept what people say with a smiling face, love, compassion, and the Truth. Don’t give up when things get difficult, because we need to ENDURE, God will have the final say, and we can’t stand up against the enemy without the power of Christ. I will not be going to the San Francisco event, but I will be going to the Baltimore one in May, and I’m VERY excited about it. As it is, they barely have a case, and the reason why San Francisco wants ATF out is because they’re AFRAID. Afraid of WHAT, I don’t know, because the reasons are different for each person. But, Sunsara Taylor is trying to convince people that we’re trying to create a theocracy.... several older friends of mine agree, she has absolutely NO IDEA what a theocracy is, a TRUE theocracy. She’s trying to preach radical ideas into the minds of those who don’t know better, which is like one blind man leading another blind man across the road. It’s dangerous, because she can’t see the truth, it’s dangerous, because a true theocracy would be like Hitler, and until she gets her facts straight and attends an event, she needs to be quiet for once, and stop telling US to be quiet. God’s army is STRONG, and if we can reach the “cultural Christians”,

I didn’t mean to sound politically correct at all, and I’m sorry if that’s how I came across. I agree with you, I was just a little confused as to what you meant by “Jesus is coming to San Francisco”, it sounded like you were mixing ATF with Jesus, and thinking they are the same… so, I apologize. People, please pray about the worship this weekend, San Francisco is trying to shut out ATF, saying they can’t have worship before 10AM or after 10PM, but consider this a blessing in disguise because that means that people who don’t know about Acquire the Fire can hear God’s music, and hopefully this attempt to drown us out will backfire on them and draw more to Christ! So, brothers and sisters, I love you all. You all rock, and if anyone is going to the Maryland event, I’ll see you there in May.

You may say that Jesus is their? But is Jesus King their? Is His Kingdom established in California? It isnt about ATF or Battlecry or Church. It is about the Kingdom of God. What is the Kingdom of God? It is more than mere words but a demonstration of the power of God. It is peace, love and joy in the Holy Ghost. The Kingdom of God is inside you. So when Christians go places for events, they take Jesus to the lost. Colossians 1:27 says that Christ in us is the hope of glory. And the Bible says that the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of His glory. So what is my point? Unbelievers are sick of hearing about Jesus. We can’t afford to have a form of godliness anymore. We need the power of God. The Bible says to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead. Freely we have recieved now freely give. We are the Bride of Christ. Why are we not walking in that power and authority Christ has given us? Ill tell you why. Because of our relious mindsets. Our traditions. Our programs. Jesus is life. He is our Savior and Healer. He can He us all. Acts 1:1 says Jesus went and around the town teaching and doing. We need to show the the power of God. God is raising up a generation who will walk on the frontlines. Who will walk with boldness, stand in the face of the the devil and of hell and snatch every single soul out of His hands. If Jesus be God serve Him whole heartedly. If not then quit with being politically correct. If we call ourselves Christian then be known as one. Not some religious person. But show them the love of Christ. Heal the sick. Raise the dead. Why dont we have power? Because we don’t have holiness. But Christ wants to ressurect us with His power according to Romans 8. Quit the judging and start the loving. Jesus is the answer. Not compettitions. Not argueing but showing them the love of God. Reaching out to the community and loving them. Being a voice is great. But what are shouting out? Religion? I hope now. But this world is so hungry for truth that is real. Something they can bank on. And we have is. Jesus. Nothing else. Nothing more. Just Jesus. Christ the King. Taking His Kingdom everywhere we go. Loving God. Loving people. Being Christ like.

Rene, I’m glad that you’re very exciting about the upcoming San Francisco event, but there something you need to realize. Jesus isn’t “coming to San Francisco”, He’s already there, He’s always been there, Acquire the Fire, or “Battlecry”, is coming to San Francisco...... not to be mean, because I am the LEAST mean person there is, but there is a difference between the two. Always remember that ATF cannot take the place of Jesus, but they merely promote Jesus to those who’ve never heard His message before. ATF is a tool. To Rob, Jesus IS doing supernatural things, but you are so set on not seeing them that you convince yourself that they don’t exist. The reason God doesn’t show Himself to us like He used to is because we’ve turned from Him, He’s in Heaven and He left us the Bible, a guidebook to help us see Him again. I want to REALLY see God, but who am I to demand such a supernatural thing? Who am I to turn from God? I have to walk in faith, there is no other way to live. Don’t live in ignorance, because then it will be you that is the fool in the end, because our life here on Earth is very temporary, life in Heaven, a place we cannot travel to on our own, is complete in and of itself.
Report thisAnd to everyone else who think that we are using the Bible as a crutch, that we are using God as a crutch..... you’re right, we are. If you had a broken leg, you would need a crutch to get around. We are blind in this sinful world, we need the Bible, we need other Christians, and we need Jesus to help us survive. Jesus is my crutch, and He is all I have going for me. Jesus is enough, Jesus is more than enough. I love you all, and have fun at the San Francisco ATF event, and don’t let the sins of the world keep you from your walk in the Lord, keep running and don’t look back. But remember, ATF is NOT a substitute for the one living God.

Report thisYou (and I) are sinners, breakers of God’s laws (yes, the God you don’t believe exists);
We have all resisted Him, we’re all born with a “want-to to do things our own way.” Yes, He loves us (something of course you find hard to accept, denying His existence). He could have made us all robots without choice, but He loved us enough to give us free will. You’re certainly using yours to reject Him. Try explaining conscience and moral law without God, though with your keen mind (no sarcasm intended) I’m sure you’ll think of something. We are all without excuse, as He truly has revealed Himself if we CHOOSE to see! Only God can also heal the VERY DEEP hurt and wound that is festering in you. I pray you let Him. “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” God bless you, Rob. I love you too.

If only superstitions and ancient folklore can bring me “true happiness, love and strength”, well I guess I prefer to be “unhappy” and “weak” in your eyes and considering I have been through a lot in my life I don’t need an omnipotent invisible friend to validate that or to validate the love, happiness and strength I have today.
Sorry that I don’t view the world as this evil deceptive place that you do. It just is what it is, you shouldn’t be so hard on a simple planet just doing it’s thing. It’s the only home I will ever have, and this life is the only one I have, so I like the world just fine. I know, being “worldly” is uncool to you folks.
Most of you claim that I don’t need evidence, all I need is faith. Well, according to the Old and New Testaments there wasn’t too much effort on God’s part to display evidence for his existence. It was no small task for him to test Moses in the desert, or to display his abilities via Moses to his fellow Jews. Throughout the Old Testament and New Testament, we read of amazing miracles, terrifying plagues, resurrected souls, angels with flaming swords, etc. All religions validate the existence of their gods by referencing ancient writings describing incredible and supernatural events. So my question to you is.....what happened? Why don’t we see those things happening today? Why did God cancel performances of his special effects shows? It happened then supposedly, why not now? The so-called Holy Land of Israel has been a killing zone for the past 60 years, I don’t see God coming to the aid of the Jews, who supposedly promised that land to the Jews in his role as an omniscient real estate broker. Nor do I see him coming to the aid of the Muslims, who say he carried their prophet Mohammed to heaven on a winged horse, yet winged horses are hard to come by these days. If fairies, ghosts, dragons, angels and demons were readily observable today, I might not be so skeptical.
I predicted at least on of you would go with the by-default comment of “You want proof God exists? Look around you”. That’s not proof, that’s supposition. I could say that the world around me is proof that the universe was created by a giant space octopus named Jerry, and the only thing I would have to go by is faith. So far proof of God’s existence these days seems to be attributed to natural disasters smiting non-believers for their sinful lack of belief(as was shown to be the sentiment among many after the Tsunami in South Asia) or far-fetched and obscure tales of some hick yokel in backwoods Alabama claiming to have seen the image of Jesus in a gravy stain, or some person in Italy claiming to see a statue of the Virgin Mary crying tears of blood or something. Hearsay simply doesn’t cut it. There’s no point in putting absolutism and faith in something that cannot be measured by empirical evidence.
Again, it’s obvious this debate is already nothing more than a ping-pong effect of us bouncing our opinions back to one another. I’m just confused, because I was pretty sure that was truthdig.com and not JesusFreaks.com or christiandiscussionboards.com. I guess I was mistaken, therefore I will take my leave.
Good day to you all

I agree, faith that is seen is no faith at all. You want physical evidence in a world where evidence can be construed to mean to million different things. God showed us proof at one time who Jesus was, Jesus performed miracles His entire life, and people STILL didn’t believe that He was God. So, two thousand years later, why would God do the EXACT same thing when He knows we won’t believe it even when it’s right in front of us? I’m not looking for a debate, because I know that in the end God will win no matter what, so what you or I in the mean time think is highly irrelivant. You want proof that God exists? Look around you. You don’t want the usual stuff that we say? What do you want? You will only accept what you want to hear, which I guess you can turn back on me and say the exact same thing. I have faith, I have God’s love that has kept me alive, God’s strength that He has given me to get through over 19 months of the hospital, I have proof through my life that God exists. I believe that if you need PHYSICAL proof then you won’t accept it. You will not have faith, you will not believe. If you don’t have faith then God is not in you, and if God is not in you then you are blind and cannot possibly hold a breath of hope of ever finding true happiness, love, and strength. The world wants you to believe that there is no hope beyond what we can do as humans. The world wants you to believe that there’s only us, there’s only this. If you don’t want to accept what I have to say, like I said before, that’s up to you, but God loves you, you may be very tired of hearing this, and that’s a shame. But it’s true.

christianity.... well most people view it in their own opinions… but once you understand where they are comming from then you will start to realize why god is so important to the world… i understand that all you want to see is evidence, but evidence is beyond what we can find… if you were a god and you want your creation to seek you and know that you are the creator, you wouldnt leave your footprints behind right??… because people who believes in this god beleives through faith. i’m sure you are familiar with the word “faith” ... it is “believing without seeing..” but one thing to be clear though… “Truth” .. it could be my truth.. our truth.. anyone’s truth… but it will always be through “god’s truth” to be true.. we dont force people to accept the truth but we “christians” just want to share to people who dont know about “god’s truth” or heard of “god’s truth...”
we are not looking for a debate partner but we do offer our love through christ jesus… hope you understand where we are comming from.. God Bless

How can you say Christianity isn’t culturally exclusive? Christianity is a culture! Culture is defined as “shared, learned behavior”. You’re telling people that the creator of the universe only approves of one in many shared learned behaviors.
*sighs*
*rubs eyes*
If someone wants to debate me about this subject, is it at ALL POSSIBLE THAT YOU CAN ARTICULATE ACTUAL AND FACTUAL EVIDENCE INSTEAD OF READING OFFERS FROM THE BROCHURE? I’ve heard the brochue, I’ve heard the tag-lines many times. I’m bored with the brochure, I want the actual guaranteed evidence of the product that that the brochure talks about. Merely reciting and regurgitating the brochure doesn’t get us anywhere. In fact, that’s what pretty much all of the competition does: reads from the brochure.
There is a difference in refusing to accept your “truth” as you say it or simply not buying it because it’s a load of bologne. We’ve heard it, we accept it’s what you have to say, and we also see it for what it is! Fairy tales! Myths! Legends! Imaginary friends! Superstitions! Contradictions! On the contrary, I would imagine it is you who has a hard time accepting the facts that a bunch of contradicting fairy tales strung together(poorly)in a 2,000 year old book of fabrications doesn’t hold much water in a 21st Century world.
So please, no more poor sad suckers who CANNOT think for themselves and merely can regurgitate fairy tales and boogeyman stories. I want someone who can present FACTS!

Okay, I know I said I wasn’t going to say anything more, but there are some things that you need to understand. First off, Christianity is NOT culturally exclusive, if you did a little bit of research you would know that “us” (which has no meaning to me) Christians are reaching out to thousands of people around the world on missions trips, thousands of people within the us such as homeless shelters and on the street. There is nothing to be exclusive about when it comes to Christianity, we are with open arms, it’s YOU that has to accept what we have to say. If you don’t accept that Jesus Christ is God, then that’s your problem, not ours. Second, yes, you will hear me say the same things, why? Because there is only one Truth, Jesus Christ is King of the whole universe and everything in it. The reason why so many people are responding exactly the way you thought they would is because you don’t want to hear or accept what we have to say. So once again, that problem is yours, not mine, or anyone else’s. That’s up to YOU to take up with God, not me, or any other “culturally exclusive” Christian in the world. If your life ends in destruction, that is your own fault, not anyone else’s, and I’m going to say that Jesus is always willing to forgive you, but you have to be willing to trust that He will forgive you, and believe that you can live a new life through Him. In the End of Days, which according to prophecy is very soon (Peace in the middle east is the next prophecy to be fulfilled), you will HAVE to answer to Jesus, EVERYONE will, Christian or not. You say you won’t now, but you haven’t witnessed the amazing power of God. HE created you, and HE WANTS you to know that and to believe it. If you don’t listen to what I’m saying, or to what anyone else says, then it’s your own doing. I tried, so did everyone else. But, to make one thing extremely clear: I’m not going to be quiet about Jesus, and in the end, Jesus will win, whether you like it or not. You can say this is hate all you want, it is love. You just don’t know what true love is. And you won’t until you repent to God, Jesus Christ. The world will lie to you, make you believe in WORLDLY things, and they are doing a very good job of deceiving you. Answer one question: If the world has all the answers, why isn’t there world peace yet? Why are unborn babies being murdered (90 million each year)? Why are suicides on the rise? Why are drug addicts on the rise???? You think we preach hate, but do the math. Who has more love, Christians, who want to see them be saved through the loving power of Jesus Christ, or the world, who couldn’t care less about the people in it?

And Mormons aren’t really Christian? Well, according to Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and the thousands of other Mormons living today it is you who are not the true Christians....see what I’m getting at? All religions, all faiths claim infallibility and truth over the others, even though those others do exactly the same. Jeff, Michael, all of you responded exactly the way I expected. Constantly preaching your bogus “values” and “morals”, putting words in my mouth and still fawning over your culturally-exclusive anthropomorphic being and his crucified zombie/savior son.
Jeff, I never said I was pro-abortion. In fact, I honestly couldn’t give a rat’s ass about abortion. Like I said, it’s a fairly minimal issue in the whole worldly scenario of human suffering. I’m not a woman, it’s not my call. If my mother aborted me, well, I would be dead....what’s your point? You pro-lifers use pointless circular logic. In fact, all people are technically “pro-life” and “pro-choice”, it’s for or against abortion that is your stance. You seem anti-Bush and anti-Iraq war but I wouldn’t be surprised if you voted for him because of his idiotic “what would Jesus do?” speech. You’re right about corporate corruption and the fact that this country needs a coup big time. Bush is a liberal in a conservative suit? Ahhh, so what would be a true conservative? Reagan? Whose trickle-down Reaganomics screwed us big time? Who helped arm and fund the enemies we are facing now? Who gets credit for ending the Soviet Union because he spent the hell out of us? Who granted amnesty to thousands of illegal immigrants? And suddenly I’m a supporter of the ACLU? Nice way to put words in my mouth, jackass.
Of course, it’s pointless to argue with a bunch of superstitious folks such as yourself. I expected a bunch of tiresome boring garbage about “Ohhhh Jesus loves you! He wants you to be in Heaven! Blah blah blah”....please spare me your culturally-exclusive omnipotent being nonsense. If this was 2,000 years ago you would be promoting Mithras(the original Jesus)or Wotan. If we were in Morocco you would be singing praises Allah and his prophet Mohammed. If we were in India you would be cheerfully telling of your devotion to Lord Shiva or Rama or Krishna or whatever. All religions are the same. They all believe the creator of the universe authored their book, and they all believe they are right and everyone else is wrong. Well guess what....THEY’RE ALL WRONG. There is no God people! That’s what I mean about 21st century thinking! It’s pathetic that we as a species haven’t learned to discard a bunch of superstitious nonsense from time periods that were rife with ignorance, oppression and fear. There is no way to prove the existence of this culturally-exclusive anthropomorphic deity you speak of, no empirical evidence whatsoever. The only way you can back up his existence is with the usual circular logic("Well, why do you think we’re all here?")or by flipping through the pages of your holy books and using some silly fairy tale detailing an event that supposedly happened thousands of years ago, but those said events don’t seem to happen today. Battlecry is merely a politicized youth organization branch perpetuating the same tiresome ancient lie that serves us no purpose in this day and age.
So to you I say continue with your belief that the creator of the universe favors white conservatives with money and dopey kids who hold rallies on the spot where Harvey Milk was murdered, because while you continue to do so millions of Arabs believe the creator of the universe favors young men who strap explosives to themselves and blow up public market places. Ohhh, but I forgot...they have it wrong, right?

i dunno what you are sick of? because ill tell you what i am sick of. im sick of this generation believing the lies that the media feeds them to get our money. i am sick of how all my friends are wearing there hearts on their sleeves and getting into relationships they have no business getting into. i am sick of the 4000 babies that get aborted everyday by my generation. i am sick of the way this country worships money like it is god. i am sick of how we beg to keep the 10 commandments on the wall when the truth of the matter is that we have jesus christ. that he came and died on the cross so that the law, the ten commandments could be obeyed. we are such an unholy people. we fall so short of the glory of god. sin is so enticing. and it people just allow the devil to grab a hold of what is inside of them and anger and bitterness spills out of you toward my Christian friends because you have yet to experience the love of Jesus. Sure everyone has tasted religion and works but when Jesus Christ becomes your Lord and Savior, when you feel His presence and power and it transforms the very core of who you are you just don’t care what anyone will say and do. A radical prophetic is rising up. A Judah Generation known for their wild and crazy praise for Jesus. Because Jesus Christ is King. He is the Lord. The Creator. And I just challenge you and beckon you to awaken to the affect of the Father’s heart toward you. Jesus loved you so much that He came and He was brutally beaten so that you could be healed ev
