Audit Lays Bare Bush’s Myopia, Naivete on Iraqi InsurgencyPosted on Feb 2, 2006A newly released audit from Congress’ Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction lays bare the stunning myopia, naivete and incompetence that accompanied Bush & Co. on their march to Baghdad. As the AP reported:
Leaving aside the question of whether America should have invaded Iraq in the first place, reports like this audit continue to highlight the near-criminal negligence of war planners who failed to anticipate the need for greater post-invasion security measures. The AP story continues:
Sen. Russ Feingold was right to seize upon the magnitude of this audit, saying in a statement:
Really, did anyone think the president was up to this job? Did anyone really believe that a man so ignorant of the region’s history and its people, so openly hostile to nuance, so unflinchingly self-righteous, so contemptuous of international alliances, was the right person to try to refashion Iraq into a democracy?

My continual question is:
Report thisWhy is military recruitment falling? The polls show Bush with 42% approval. That’s 126,000,000 people who approve of Rebublican policies. The most overarching policy is war on Iraq. Why are there no young republicans enlisting? Do they hate freedom? Do they love terrorists? Do they want this country laid bare by a horde of Islamists? Do they want to see their parents strung up like goats and disembowled? Why are they not enlisting to save liberty? Where are the Republican sponsored enlistment rallies? Where are the Republican parents to encourage their sons and daughters to don the glorious uniform of the U.S. military and march off to the Global War on Terror? Why do I not hear and read more about courageous young wealthy Americans joining the Army or Marines to spread freedom to every inch of the Earth? Can a Republican blogger answer these questions? I believe it is the duty of every American Republican to demand that their offspring help President George W. Bush in his vision of a world free from dictatorships, one party governments, and monarchies. The biggest difference they can make is not in the classroom or on the job or taking a year off college to travel in Europe, it is on the battlefield in the Global War on Terror. It is in Iraq in a Humvee wearing body armor carrying a 50 cal machine gun. That is the only true place for young Republicans to actually make a difference. I ask again, where are all the young Republicans? Mothers and Fathers, your children can make a difference in this war. Demand that they enlist. Demand that they serve. It is the ONLY patriotic action that matters.

The world, including we of the USA, pay the price for allowing stolen elections to come to pass within the most heavily armed nation on the globe. When will it all end.

“...Really, did anyone think the president was up to this job?...”
What job? We went there for the oil; we are in charge of the oil; we have no interest in rebuilding Iraq or freeing its people; we aren’t even interested in freeing our OWN people.
As for “the president,” did anyone ever think that this moron was ever in his miserable life up to ANY job? There is one thing for which we can be eternally thankful: Bush is a puppet (and a moron). Can you imagine how horrible it would be if the Bush cretin were actually the one making decisions? Thank your lucky stars that some warmongering totalitarian dictator hovers in the background giving Cheney the marching orders in his “undisclosed location.”

The question isn’t whether George W. Bush thought that his administration could or would bring democracy to Iraq. They really didn’t care one iota about democracy in Iraq or anywhere else for that matter. The question is; “How come the American people didn’t stand up after the FIRST Bush coup and make sure the right and legally elected candidate got his place in the Oval Office?” Answer; “Because Americans have been lulled into a zombie-like state over the last several decades by mainstream propaganda. Americans for some reason just can’t believe that our political industrail complex/corporate industrial complex and our military industrial complex would EVER lie to us. But when I see some poor slob driving down the street with old Bush/Cheney stickers on their windows and bumpers, I have to wonder why they voted for them in the first place? Seeing as how their votes had nothing to do with Bush getting into office in the first place. Those poor slobs with the stickers aren’t millionaires and the Republicans and their Corporate Masters could care less about them in the first place. But they are fooled by the propaganda and the retoric, the lies and disinformation that the corporate controlled media spews forth 24/7. The REAL question is; “How long will the United States last as a union?” I predict that within the next six years the country you grew up in is going to split apart violently. Hopefully, I will have left by then and taken my family with me.

Noble? Or Ignoble? Our Senate and our Congress are worthless. And now the Supreme Court and the presiding injustices are worthless. America the beautiful is at the very begining of it’s inevitable implosion. There are no more Egyptians and there are no more Romans and there are no more Anasazi… etc. so forth and so on. And now there is no more U.S.A.

The are no words to describe the man. Dubya and his Republican neo-conservative bastards are literally accelating world polarity and destabilzing the world at an alarming pace. Im stunned at the decline this administration has brought the US in world standing , and honestly feel the U.S. is the biggest future threat for Canadians and Canadian policy. Can you beleive the administration had the odacity to convey America does not recognize Canada’s sovereingty
in artic waters JUST A FEW DAYS AFTER Steven Harper, a conservative mind you, won the prime ministership in Ottawa??? Does the administration recognize the sovereignty of any foreign nation?? Do the republicans view the world as their playground to fulfill american interests only???
Sure seems that way.

I wouln’t put it this way as Ed Ashby did. In my opnion, the Congress is a big part of the problem; the majority of them voted for the evil war in Iraq. Noble people in Congress could be counted on the fingers of one hand. I was once entertained when I read a car sticker that read,"Congress is an Israeli occupied territory.” As the latest news about the culture of corruption among members of Congress came to light, one can also say, “Congress is the lobbyists occupied terrritory.” And there will always be some connection between the lobbyists and Israel. I always held the belief that veto power or lobbying and true democracy are two mutually exclusive things! American democracy of late is only a diminished shadow of true democracy! Thanks to 50 or 51% percent of misled Americans, both Congress and evil Bush will continue to lead our country to the road of self-destruction! Bush latest speech made me feel like throwing up; and what almost made me sick was all these numerous artificial applauses after almost every paragraph he spit out; it was the worst display of the herd mentality!

why did the Congress go along so meekly? Was it the “stigma"of being “unpatriotic”?The Democrats are behaving in the most unpatriotic manner by not fighting this administration and calling a lie a lie!! So too the mass media. Barbara Oshin

From Curic in the A.M. to Leher in the P.M. the entertainment or profit generating operations using the public air waves have been distorting and exagerating the previously honorable profession of Journalism. This is not only an assault upon the intelligence of the public, but the base on which our young will be influenced by the corporate media.

Unfortunately, too many people voted for Bush because “he’s just like me. I don’t know where kosolvo is either”. Amazing when dummies get the chance in the voting booth to exercise a little power, they make a “comfort decision” rather than a choice of compentency.

The actual State of the Union is in “denial”! Voters must get involved and insist on electing legislators in 2006 that will work for America’s future and for all people. The Cancer of Corruption, that has erupted, and is finally being exposed in this administration, is the real security risk facing our nation!

I realize it is impossible to question the military. However, what if we did as questions?
1) Why was there no plan to contain Saddam’s convention weapons? 2) How can it be that a nation that spends half of its disposable income on military armaments is loosing two wars to two third world nations that do not even have air power?
Our plan for Iraq should include 1) full employment for Iraqiis. 2) a trust fund of say 25Billion that Iraq can apply to for rebuilding. The fund would be audited by two agencies say the U.N. and the U.S. GAO. 3) the US Military should move to the western boarders first to secure the perimiter and as they move they can remove any weapons caches they do find. Then move out of Iraq.

I never thought he was up to any part of his job as President. He has NOT answered any questions about his military service(show us a copy of that Honorable Discharge). If he doesn’t like a question on any of his decisions, he either ignores or refuses to answer. AND NO ONE PRESSES HIM ANY FURTHER!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I guess this will continue for the next 3 years.
