AP / Haraz N. Ghanbari

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, arrives Saturday on Capitol Hill to listen to President Barack Obama address the Democratic Caucus on health care overhaul.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich predicted Saturday that the health reform bill will win passage in the House on Sunday by just one vote. Kucinich likened the bill to “the political equivalent of castor oil” but said he has been working to get remaining holdout Democrats to vote for it. The Ohio Democrat, who earlier was a holdout himself, made the comments in an interview conducted by Truthdig Managing Editor Peter Z. Scheer and podcast producer Joshua Scheer.

I’m not one who is going to chew Kucinich out on this one.  I understand the forces he is working against and believe he will continue the good fight. We as citizens have a responsibility for allowing the insurance/big pharma companies that sabotage universal health care to exert so much power on government.  We have a responsibility to take campaign financing out of their control.  This charade, and our continuing economic dependence on the MIC, reveal how weak “the public” has become. It is at the public level that change has to occur.
