Gore Vidal
Zuade Kaufman / Truthdig

Gore Vidal reads from his essay, “Hail and Farewell: the End of the American Empire.” The iconic author, historian and patriot suggests that perhaps there’s a more sinister explanation for the president’s fiascos than mere incompetence: he’s out to destroy the American empire.

George W Bush must have lost his mental capacity (or) he is deliberately trying to destroy America.
Even school children are aware he is devoid of common sense !

Gore Vidal is trenchant, acerbic and relevant as usual but there is one glaring inaccuracy for which he should be ashamed. Robert Duval, a brilliant actor, as we know, was fired before the opening and replaced by Ted Van Gretheisen (sp). I know, I understudied both and played Ottakur’s unflinchingly loyal lieutenant with “Perfect Courage,  Absolute Sincerity, Complete Faith, Total Obedience. ”  Best Regards, Gore, Ed Sherin.

POWERFUL INDICTMENT OF OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT AND HIS WAY OF GOVERNING OR NON-GOVERNING. IF HE IS NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS TRASHING OF ALL WE HOLD DEAR, I DO THINK WE LOSE THE USA AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT.
CAN NO ONE IN THE GOVERNMENT CALL HIS BLUFF OR DO I STAND ALONE IN DESPAIR AS I SEE MY CHILDREN’S FUTURES IN THE BALANCE?
