A woman scans the near-empty shelves of a Brooklyn food bank.

Sasha Abramsky discusses his new solution-oriented book about the millions of Americans who work 40 hours a week and still go hungry, “these forgotten communities and these forgotten families who are doing everything they’ve been told they need to do to survive and ... they’re still being pushed backward by economic forces that they really don’t control.”

The working world has turned into a Wild Wild West. One of the things that makes it so wild is that the employer has too much power over his employees because things have been so bad for so long. I don’t want to bore people with personal details but every job Ive had has required huge amounts of unpaid hours. Things like attending meetings, and programs, and classes all unpaid.  All paper work had to be done at home unpaid. etc etc. Pretty soon you paycheck is so thin and employer’s resource and time demand is becoming usury. Single and young women might as well call themselves TOBY. My advice to single women, wear a ring at work. They know you need them and they will absolutely abuse the situation.

We must have Unions and Labor must not bow so ONE CEOs can make a BILLION Dollars. Don’t even get me started on Employer provided Health Care. Employers will literally threaten you like a slave if they control your health care. It’s sick.
