Well, I think that the polls are showing that most of the mud slinging is being brushed aside. Good. Obama will be better than McCain. Or, that is what so many smart people think that I have to believe it. In any case, my (probably uncounted) voteis of little consequence.
Nino—I’m just wondering—why is China the “world’s worst terrorist nation”? They are doing huge military buildup (its our biggest export to them!), but the US is hardly in a position to judge that. It is also true that their people do not really have a free press. It is probably even less free than ours, although , again , the uS is hardly in a position to judge on that one, either.
Starting with Nixon, the uS has been encouraging capitalism and empire. It’s what we do. It just turns out that they do it more efficiently than we do. As for the Chinese taking our jobs, they didnt really—our govt gave them to them.
Maybe yu are referring to Tibet, Tawain, and other countries that China seems to feel is part of its own territory. It does seem like a real mess. And, with the lack of fair journalism, it is really hard to know what is going there.
I guess I dont think that there is such a thing as a “terrorist nation”. The rest of the world might say that the uS is the biggest terrorist nation. Many would agree. But, you know, and we all know, that most of the US citizens do not want to run around the world terrorizing people.
I fear that the Chinese citizens have even less power over their govt’s actions than we do over ours. I know you were referring to teh Chinese Govt., but, I just think we have to be more careful about how we use the word “terrorist”, now that it has become so “hot”.

McCain supports NAFTA which has ruined our made in America produce line..millions out of work,,many now poisoned by the worlds worst terrorist nation..China..and this clown grunts and waves the flag in disgrace..the mom of the century has the charm of a cotton candy treat..looks great but soon one realizes there is nothing there..just air! Another Hobsons choice by our ruling class…two nags and two goats….and all we wanted is a choice…not these four left-wing clones.

Senator John McBush has no plan for the recovery of the economy and he’ll continue the Iraqi “War” (corrupt takeover) for as long as he can get away with it. I’m tired of fear tactics, out and out lies, and the economic mess that the right wing has caused using our tax money. GWB and Chaney should be indicted and convicted for crimes against the people of the United States and crimes against many citizens abroad. Obama will win the election. There are enough people hurting to finally get rid of these political demons. Unfortunately, a tremendous amount of damage has been done and his leadership task will be formidable. We must overcome.

As many have already commented, yes, of course it will work! History proves it.
The critical question is, will it be enough? While the mud-slinging and name-calling (a mainstay for the Rupret Murdoch’s faux media empire) definately solidifies the right-wing, religious zealots, racists and other assorted morons, I hope beyond hope that the American public as a whole is smarter than that.
It’s hard not to be baited by the sleazy tactics. So far, Obama has kept to the high road. For that alone, he is a better man than most. I can’t wait for tonight’s debate.

Sen. John “McWorse” McCain and Gov. Sarah “Betcha” Palin are mean and nasty campaigners and their underhanded approach will continue up to election day. McCain and Palin live in a state of denial, they feed their know-nothing rabid mob vituperative political-drivel in an attempt to demonize economic reality and steal the presidency. The Republicans have large corporations, the rich and corporate media in their well paid corner. I hope Americans can see past the lies and deceit, realize what is best for them and vote Democratic. Vote for Barack Obama for president.

If the MSM and CNN aired the story out completely when Hillary Clinton brought it up in one of their debates in the primaries, it probably wouldn’t even be an issue now.
They chose to protect him instead so it wouldn’t tarnish his baby-fine reputation and have an impact on the race at the time.
As a result, there are many people out there who are undecided, and that never knew of Obama’s questionable associations with extreme left wing government hating radicals such as Ayers and Wright and they have a right to know.
This is a fair debate!

I am still of the opinion that George W. Bush never won an election to the presidency. He cheats. The republicans cheat.
Having said that it’s important to recognize why these people are sleazy. They do it for mainstreammedia. That way the “journalists” don’t have to get out and dig for a factual and interesting story. All they need do is grab the muck flying by and pass it on. And since a scary percentage of viewers would rather gossip than self educate, it keeps the “viewership” up.
Then, when the liars and cheats, AKA republicans pull their fix out of the bag, everybody accepts the obvious erroneous results, crediting the mud-sling as having turned the stupid narrow minded American voter to choose the candidate who throws the vilest shit load.
Now the American voter is left with some unpleasant choices. First and foremost accept that mainstreammedia and your republican “president” think you are too stupid to duck when the muck comes flying. Too uninformed to question any lie they tell you. And quite incapable of remembering what any of them did a few days ago.
Or, get madder than hell and demand the “outcome” be investigated and even call for a new election if necessary.
So the two halves do just that. Accept or demand. Unfortunately up to this point, the majority falls into the first group. Stupid, uninformed and short of memory. Even the last democrat candidate fell into that trap.
And the “madder than hell” folks pushed back until they ran head first into the wall of indifference that makes up the rules that govern the election. And that’s where we need to lead an assault!
Whether or not McCain-Pain and the republicans take the country by theft and deception again, we need REAL REFORM in our election laws. We also [I use to love that word] need to have the ability to “recall” our Congressaurs when they chose to ignore our best interests. Like when they refuse to take action to stop clearly impeach-able actions.
I still wonder, what would the crisis look like today, if congress had demonstrated enough courage to do the right thing and impeach Bush, way back in 2006?

Vacuous; the campaign! Cynic that I am; just watch as McCain/Palin pull this off and dishonor and demean the last remnants of the shell that is America. And we will have given it to them; we Americans; the scared, the racist, the bigoted, the gullible, the just plain silly, the lazy, and the just plain uneducated; which by the way has nothing to do with having a degree (that is irrelevant)! Uneducated is a total lack of the ability to think critically, if at all. With that quality we give ourselves over to the McCains, Palins, Bushes, Cheneys, Rumsfelds, Roves, Novaks, Kristols, and on and on and on. Good night America, your run was short by historical standards, but then you ran with cretins. And your light was dim as well! Bye, bye.

What will be interesting to see will not be whether dirty politics come into play(they will, we are after all, americans) What will be interesting will be the mark it makes on the final election results. Will negative campaigning work? Why not? It always has in the past.
Since neither of these elitist morons has even a faint clue how to deal with this economy, or healthcare, or medicare, or anything important for that matter, the voters will be faced with the same choice that they ultimatly face every election, Who do I like/trust more? The perseption of who a candidate is still holds more weight with most americans than what their policy positions are. Reagan seemed to be a personable guy, yet his views were just to the right of Herman Goebbels. We elected the idiot anyway, TWICE! Why? Because we liked him. He did indeed, seem to us like a “Joe Sixpack”.
Explain Clinton to me, as well. He was a nobody governor, from a nobody, hick state, with a lousy economy and awful education system. Yet we voted for him, TWICE! Why? Because BushI proved himself to be an out of touch old rich guy and Bob Dole, well, was Bob Dole. He was about as charismatic as cheese. But ‘ol slick Willy aw-shucks’d his way into the white house.
The poles in 2000 and 2004 showed that most americans thought that Gore was boring and Kerry was out of touch with the average american. Yes indeed, “Joe Sixpack” would rather have a beer with W than Al or John.
My point is this, many americans vote for someone they persieve as most like them. That is what is keeping the poles much closer than they should be.
If this latest economic crisis had waited to raise it’s ugly head until after Nov 4th, McCain would have had a good shot at this election.
He may still, so long as he can re-enforce and enlighten the american public on the fact that the alternative is an uppity black man.
Assuming, of course, that the economy doesn’t completley collapse by then. And who would want to be president anyway?

When all you have is your dubious war record and Palin as your running mate, no substance to your platform and no stand on issues that two Americans agree with, your party’s in a shambles, you’re beginning to see how stupid your VP pick was—in short, you know your goose is cooked—you have to resort to desperate tactics.
This is the last we’ll hear of McCain/Palin. Save your signs. They’ll be worth a fortune in a hundred years, or so, when this great country is finally run by the people.
McCain is a classic loser. Look for him to retire because the world has passed him by.

I think that it is worth noting that he had Palin do it—she has a way of looking defenseless and silly—so she will be harder to attack, directly.
I hate to see all this go down. But, hey, the country is very divided. She drew first blood.
