Why are there only two polytical entity’s (parties) that always hold the power?
It is a well thought out system to keep individuals thinking that they have an option.

This is an extract from a mysticl treatise but this is where we all stand today upon Earth. The people in the uSA particularly so….
“Man today is beset by strange fears which imprison his actions, his very outlook; which imprison his mind…... Fear is a weapon being now used by the darkest forces to cause you to become their ignorant pawns.
Break away from this fear by delving deep within yourself and discovering the Freedom which is latent there. Break away from this tight bondage by so Enlightening yourselves that this weapon may be rendered useless.
Study fear for what it is. Study it coldly without emotion. You will discover that it is but a state of mind which you have formulated for yourselves. This state of mind is the result of Karma, environment and present outlook.
Karma—you can, at this very moment, make for yourself a Karmic pattern which, when manifested, will not bring vague fear as a result. You can rise above environment, for it is a changing thing, it is not real.
Knowledge gained by adherence to the Unchangeable Laws can bring to you that stage of Enlightenment which dispels fear. A state of mind can be changed at once for good or for evil. It is just as easy to have a state of mind unclouded by fear as it is to allow it to be warped by this intrusion.
Have this outlook upon Life. Act in this way and fear becomes non-existent. When fear has been transmuted in the fires of applied knowledge, tempered by Love, you become Wise. In your Wisdom there is fortitude and BRAVERY.
The First Freedom—dispel fear. Go forth into BRAVERY and you will know many things, for you will have taken an essential step upon the ladder of Evolution. There will come a day when you will be examined in this Light….”

Ahh the streets, that great restorer of the balance of nature, that panacea for what ails the democratic process, the cure all for all that ails us…...
I took to the streets any number of times, first in 1961 for a Ban the Bomb demonstration in our capital, met some very interesting folks there, later joined SDS slightly before there was such a thing, saw the first draft of the Port Huron declaration in fact.
Later I marched in a large number of anti war rallies against our involvement in Viet Nam, some of which turned rather violent in fact. I was in Chicago, stood next to Pigasis, that worthy candidate for the presidency, before the Chicago police dept rudely seperated us…..
I would note that millions turned out world wide to protest Bushs’ coming invasion of Iraq, and a good thing too, otherwise he might have actually invaded the place….oh wait.
So do I have a point here you are probably asking, if you are even still reading. Why yes I do in fact.
Demonstrations have a place, and actually good does come out of them, mostly raising the consciousness of folks and putting like minded folks in contact with one another. But I do not personally know of a single such gathering that has altered policy or changed a nations direction.
It causes the testosterone to flow, yelling how we should all ” take to the streets”, it is an adrenaline rush to be certain to march a hundred thousand strong through the streets of our cities, and then go home feeling much personal pride in participating in the political process..bah humbug!
If you are serious about making essential changes
Report thisto the way this nation works, or perhaps fails to work, you should be very prepared to toil long and hard, not just run around the streets and feel so good about it.

How can this happen?
The bottom line is:
Should we allow a person to get away with a crime?
And that would include the president and all of his accomplices.
The Republican’s argument that there is no factual proof only highlights the Republican’s mastery of manipulating the issues and their expertise at hiding the evidence by not testifying or submitting incriminating documents.
In other words, without an impeachment, the Democrats would be aiding the Republicans in their cover-up.
In the end, politicians only serve themselves not their constituents and the media is their tool.

Mr. Cohen, I suggest you check the law, the only funeral your allowed to promote, is your own. It is still against the law, to pronounce someone else dead, or someone elses democracy for that matter, too.
Before, you people bury America, like you always keep trying, but somehow, she always manages to crawl back out of the grave, please note, we are alive, vigorously alive. Do not, believe the meida drivil, and if you believe anything reality TV teaches you, you are an idiot. We, are happy with our freedoms, and we keep exercising them, no matter what Bush’ and company do on the hill.
From, now on when you want to pronounce someone elses, freedom, dead, just climb in the hole you dig, and pull the dirt over you. If, one keeps digging a hole, and finds they cannot dig out of yet another hole, one should just stay, in this last hole, and rest comfortably, forever after in peace.

Think that’s bad. Wait until you see the latest “EXECUTIVE DISORDER” originating from Bush. It is nothing less than a “surge” against the Constitution
You are simply not going to believe it. Go to the White House website at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html# and read the July 17, 2007 Executive Order in which Bush announces that he plans to give the Secretary of the Treasury power to, among other things, seize all assets of anyone in this country even suspected of posing a “significant risk” that they might disagree with any Iraq goals or policies of Bush. It supposedly will be confined to those suspected of undefined “acts of violence,” but considering it extends to future suspected acts as well and considering Bush already has the Secret Service arrest even spectators at campaign event for merely wearing a contradictory t-shirt, not to mention he often conflates all dissenters and opposition as traitors, there is good reason to fear how he will interpret the possibility those he does not happen to like or trust might commit supposedly violent acts.
Executive Orders have the force of law and this one is scary as hell in its implications. Remember, it is mere suspicion by an Executive branch official, not a judge or jury, that triggers this really drastic result. Combine that with destruction of habeus corpus and searches without warrant already in practice by this Administration and together they effectively nullify most of the Bill of Rights not to mention the powers granted to the two other formerly equal branchs of government. Unfortunately, except through the Ron Paul website, no one in Congress or running for office seems to have even mentioned it.
Frankly, I would not want any President to hold such power, no matter how much I might agree with him or her on other things. And, my by now well justified lack of trust in the Bush Administration is infinite. I cannot immagine they would not immediately and capriciously exercise such total power to silence opponents.
My guess is not even the most rabid right winger on the Republican Supreme Court would uphold it when and if tested, but in the years it would take someone to fight it through the courts, they could be without access to a dime of your assets the entire time. It gives the power to seize your home, your paychecks, your car simply because of suspicion, not proof or conviction.
If this particular Executive Order is not a “High Crime or Misdemeanor” against the Constitution as well as a violation of the President’s Oath of Office, what the hell is? This is exactly what the impeachment remedy was designed by the Founding Fathers to protect against. What does it take to get our elected representatives and senators off their rear ends and convene for the process? If they won’t impeach Bush, then we need to start recall campaigns to remove our present representatives and senators and replace them with others who will do what is increasingly necessary. Tell them by phone and e-mail today. There apparently are only days left for Congress to act to prevent this Executive Order from going into effect.
The only saving grace in this whole frightening effort by Bush and Cheney to apparently grant themselves essentially unrestricted control is that they have so broken our military, our domestic law enforcement agencies and our obviously ironically named “justice” department, they might not be able to accomplish their hoped for effective abolishment of the Constitution’s ideals.

The list “that goes on and on” that he ticked off at the start of the interview is not fascism in the minds of many Americans, those people who wrap themselves in the flag and keep saying that there is a worldwide battle of ideologies of good Christians against bad Islamists. That is why, contrary to so many on the left who believe otherwise, fascism is very likely to happen here—real, true fascism of doors being kicked in at night and people being hauled away without recourse. Mexicans and Arabs will just be the first victims.

I think the fascists have a great deal of control, however they don’t have it all. They never will. Fascist regimes have been “put out of business” again and again throughout history. Sometimes the words, “fascism” or “the Nazi’s”, take on a surreal aura in people’s minds. Sometimes it’s associated with overwhelming fear and dread, for some it is like looking death in the eye. What everyone needs to remember is that “fascism” is a real thing. The Nazi’s were real, but also just men. Dangerous men but flesh and blood just the same.
It makes perfect sense for fascism to surface in America. First of all, half the damn Nazi brass ran and hid in America when they knew they were “finished”. They’ve been spreading their rhetoric for decades! Secondly, our laws make it easy for all types of perspectives to flourish. Third, capitalism, which is based on greed, lines up rather well with fascist philosophies. They are experienced in the use of religion to control and to gain the support of the people. America, at least professes to be, by majority, Christian. They were easy targets.
If you think that blogging/commenting here does nothing to change things, I’d say think again! The Nazi’s/fascists first agenda was propaganda, which may seem like nothing more than words. But is it. The fact that they want to “censor” the Internet is proof that what we are doing here WORKS! What was Bush’s latest approval rating….25%..?
I say take to the streets! Blog! Put up signs! Talk to your neighbor! Sign petitions! Attend meetings! WriteCongress! Do it All! AND KEEP IT UP!
WE WILL WIN, IF NOT FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT WE CAN’T AFFORD TO LOSE.

The Burlington Declaration
Report thisNovember 5, 2006, Burlington, Vermont
We, the participants in the First North American Secessionist Convention, though representing many different and diverse groups and constituencies, agree on the following principles as representing the truths of natural law and historical experience:
1. Any political entity has the right to separate itself from a larger body of which it is a part and peaceably to establish its independence as a free and legitimate state in the eyes of the world.
2. Governments are instituted among peoples, deriving their just powers from the consent of their citizens, and whenever any form of government becomes destructive of the legitimate goals of life, liberty, prosperity, and self-determination, it is the right of the people in democratic fashion to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government in such form as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.
3. Any government formed by and dependent upon a constitution to regulate its actions and affairs has certain legitimate powers delegated to it, but any powers not so delegated are reserved to the people of that state and their democratically chosen political bodies.
4. Nations once independent should engage in peace, commerce, good will, and honest friendship with all nations, and observe good faith, justice, and harmony toward all, but establish entangling relationships with none, nor engage in colonial dominance, political or economic, over any.
5. Direct democracy, with one vote for each and every citizen (as the polity shall designate citizenship), has proven to be a desirable form of governance among people, but it can operate with justice and equality only when at a small enough scale that each person may be known to every other person; when representative forms of government are undertaken, they should likewise best be established at a scale small enough so that each representative can be informed of the opinions and beliefs of the general run of the people in the constituency or community which that person is chosen to represent.
It is within this body of principles that we ask all governments to operate and it is by them that we ourselves, individually and the organizations we represent, intend to be guided.

Fortunately my country isn’t trying to take over the world and what little role it is playing (in Afghanistan) is under increasing critical scrutiny. Thankfully it is looking like our poodle, Prime Minister Stephan Harper, is having second thoughts about his perch on Bush’s lap. This has been accomplished without resorting to rioting in the streets.
If its any consolation I’m acting locally where I can and thinking globally when I do. I’m working through various local committees and boards to strengthen local governance and regional management, for the day when distant governments collapse under the weight of their own crap, as they most assuredly will.

The Truthdig interviewers are doing a disservice by the too strong comparison to the Hitler regime. The threat is more gradual than represented unless the extreme happens and BushCo has a devious plan to extend their leadership. For this to happen BushCo really would have to engineer a terrorist attack—something I don’t think was done before intentionally. As was pointed out, we are far more vulnerable then ever before with the corporate media, the tyrannical leaders we now have, the inattentive and apathetic people, money-infused politics, and corporate power.

This is what we get for letting our economic and political leaders cut deals with authoritarian dictatorships. Instead of these dictatorships becoming more democratic and free as a result of trading with democratic countries, democratic countries have become less free and open societies. The authoritarian capitalism growing in China and Russia is the bottom we’ve all been racing towards because it’s the most efficient way of feeding greed.
Of course these sorts of economies have proven to be entirely unsustainable due to corruption and pollution will only compound that. I doubt if this Cowardly New World will last long on a planet of diminishing natural resources. Big cities will definitely be places to avoid. Isolated communities especially on islands is probably the way to go.

I am afraid the problem runs much deeper than media control and uninformed public. I have debated many a American and they are convinced that they are very well informed and will scorn at alternative news sources. Alternative news sources are usually labeled as left/ communist subversion and that argument is quickly followed by examples of communist evil and how likeminded people like them finally defeated communism. Even though the majority of Americans today are against the war in Iraq and are critical of the Bush administration, the PNAC view of the world is a good representation even of the mainstream America, despite so many good critics like Elliot Cohen.

We see what American Corps. are doing to the people of America. The larger question is, if we do not stop them, what will happen to the WORLD. This is no joke, or a liberal apparition. As the decline of the American worker’s rights took place and the very obvious institution of “kiss-asses” in place of actual knowledgeable individuals took place any reasoning person just had to wonder, “what’s going on here”?
Americans are in an extremely dangerous position since this has ensued. It is obvious that these groups (the Bush administration being just one of them) are working to attain WORLD power. A psychotic aspiration as history has shown. Corporate America has gone awry and the very future of humanity is at stake, not just here, but the world over as well.

As tax slaves to an ever expanding government that has shown time and time again that its people’s interests are the furthest things from their collective agendas, we can rely on no one but ourselves to restore our republic. I agree with Verne Arnold the ONLY way to take this country back is through action. Pontificating endlessly may sooth the mind temporarily but does nothing to change the situation we’re in. We owe it to those who have sacrificed everything to give us what we had and who will sacrifice after us to keep it. No one ever said that a single revolution would be enough to get and keep our freedoms. If the founders of this country thought that the government of England was out of control in their time to take the action they did, what the would they think of ours now.

Normally i would consider this sort of thesis to be pure delusional conspiracy theory stuff. Unfortunately this seems to be whats happening.
And now we see that the Brits new PM Brown-nose, is not what the voters had asked for as a replacement for Bush’s Poodle.

This is very good stuff, duh. Elliot Cohen is right on and has validated the very thing I have been saying about going to the street. We are sliding down the last slope of our democracy. Many of the most prolific posters here claim this site and blogging in general are more important than going to the street. For the last time, I submit to you, if you maintain this fallacy you are doomed and you are wrongÂ…flat out wrong!
If we donÂ’t exercise our right of free assembly we will lose it and that I promise you, it is coming soon to a city near you. I donÂ’t want to live to see that day, but itÂ’s looking as though I may.
