Pilar Marrero is a journalist who for 25 years has extensively covered the areas of city government, immigration and state and national politics. She works for La Opinion, the largest and oldest Spanish language daily paper in America. She’s a senior reporter on immigration and politics there and a regular commentator for radio and television in both Spanish and English media. Her work has won awards and fellowships from New America Media, the New School, and the International Center for Journalists for her coverage of the issues and challenges of the Latino community. She’s the author of “El Despertar del Sueño Americano” published by Penguin Books. The English version of the book, “Killing the American Dream,” is published by Palgrave McMillan. Marrero lives in Los Angeles.
