Karl E. Meyer, Reviewer

Karl E. Meyer’s dozen books include The Plundered Past, The Art Museum: Power, Money, Ethics, and The Pleasures of Archaeology.  He is co-author most recently (with Shareen Brysac) of Kingmakers: The Invention of the Modern Middle East (Norton: 2008).  A longtime member of The New York Times Editorial Board, he earlier served as London Bureau Chief and editorial writer at The Washington Post, and from 2000-2008 was editor of The World Policy Journal, published at The New School.  A Princeton Ph.D., Meyer has taught at Princeton, Yale, Tufts and Bard College, and has been a Reuter Fellow at Oxford and a resident fellow at the the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (the Institute of Advanced Studies at Berlin). He lives in New York and Weston, Ct.
