Schumer Sees Democrats Hanging On to Senate

Is Sen. Charles Schumer still a member of the reality-based community? The top Democrat confidently predicted on Wednesday that his party would retain control of the Senate in the 2012 election, despite having to defend way more seats than the Republicans. Meanwhile, Republicans are apparently consulting a different crystal ball.  —KA

Los Angeles Times:

“When you look at it from 30,000 feet, it looks bad,” Schumer said during a breakfast meeting at Third Way, the moderate Democratic think tank. “You look at it race by race, it looks good.”

... Brian Walsh, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, called Schumer’s assessment “out of touch with political reality.”
