At least seven people were injured and 11 went missing Tuesday night after an explosion went off on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the coast of Louisiana. But by late Wednesday morning, the missing workers were reportedly located on a lifeboat, according to The New York Times. —KA
The New York Times:
A spokesman for Plaquemines Parish said that the 11 missing workers had been found by rescuers before noon Central time, but a spokesman for the Coast Guard said he was not yet able to verify the rescue.
“Everybody’s accounted for” said Kurt Fromherz, the parish spokesman. “They were found in a life boat.”
Mr. Fromhertz added that the 11 people rescued were alive, but he did not know whether any of them were injured.
