Most Americans Support Arizona Immigration Law

Give us your tired and your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, because we already have an abundance of selfish, mean xenophobes. Polls show that most Americans support Arizona’s new immigration law, which makes it criminal to accept the Statue of Liberty’s invitation.

A new CBS News-New York Times poll found that 51 percent of those surveyed agreed that the methods of the Arizona law are “about right.” That backs up an earlier Gallup poll that found that 51 percent of Americans who had heard of the law favor it.  —PZS
