Mark Sanford Beats Stephen Colbert’s Sister in Congressional Race

Yes, the same Mark Sanford who as governor of South Carolina in 2009 blew off Father’s Day for a love jaunt to Argentina just persuaded the state’s Bible Belt voters to give him another chance.
The Associated Press has called South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District for Sanford, who was running against Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, sister of comedian Stephen Colbert. In the November 2012 election, Mitt Romney won the district, which has not gone to the Democrats in three decades, by 18 points.
Sex advice columnist and hypocrite watchdog Dan Savage tweeted the following in response to Sanford’s apparent victory:
Perhaps the comical endorsement of Hustler magazine founder Larry Flynt, who called Sanford a “sex pioneer,” put the former governor over the top.
