Posted on Apr 1, 2010
Israeli planes and helicopters were witnessed firing missiles at targets across the Gaza Strip on Friday. Haaretz reported seven strikes on targets ranging from a refugee camp to a cheese factory, but no casualties. The BBC reported 13 strikes.
Update: Israel said the targets were facilities used to make and store rockets. AFP reported that three Palestinian children were injured in the attack. An Israeli official later threatened escalated military action if rocket attacks from Gaza did not stop. —PZS
A fifth missile hit a cheese factory in Gaza City, setting it on fire, witnesses and Hamas officials said. Hospital officials said two children were injured by flying debris.
Helicopters struck twice in the central refugee camp of Nusseirat, destroying a metal foundry. There were no casualties.
Israeli warplanes have carried out at least 13 air strikes on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources have told the BBC.
They said several of the strikes took place in Gaza, with the rest hitting the towns of Khan Younis and Rafah.
