Obama, Facing Old Messes, Tells GOP to ‘Grab a Mop’
Posted on Oct 20, 2009
Certain members of the Republican Party need to stop knocking the current administration’s attempts to clean up the messes caused by the previous one and “grab a mop,” President Barack Obama said during a Democratic National Party fundraiser in New York on Tuesday night. Obama also urged “all the Democrats who are in the house” to “stay focused” on health care as the battle over reform legislation continues in coming weeks. —KA
The president also noted the support healthcare reform has garnered from big-name Republicans such as the former Senate GOP leaders Bob Dole and Bill Frist.
“You’ve got a whole bunch of Republicans who are saying ‘Yeah we should do this” except those are all retired Republicans – Bob Dole and Bill Frist - and last time I checked they are not socialist,” Obama said. “And they think it’s important to get this done. That’s a model for what everyone needs to be thinking.”
