Holder Says He Will Pursue Torture Wrongdoing

What to make of the administration’s policy on holding torturers accountable? Attorney General Eric Holder says he “will not permit the criminalization of policy differences,” but will pursue wrongdoing “to the full extent of the law.” The problem here is that when it comes to torture, policy differences just might be criminal.

Some Republicans are accusing the Obama administration of seeking to prosecute over policy differences.

“I will not permit the criminalization of policy differences. However, it is my responsibility as the attorney general to enforce the law,” Holder told a congressional hearing. “If I see wrongdoing, I will pursue it to the full extent of the law.”
