Obama’s E-Mail Dilemma
Posted on Nov 17, 2008
The president-elect is a notorious gadget hound who has been known to carry multiple cell phones, but he faces a looming downgrade. Because the public has a right to presidential records, Barack Obama will probably give up his precious Blackberry—and quit e-mailing altogether. However, he is likely to be the first president with a laptop on his desk.
Here’s hoping, for the sake of our country, that they uninstall solitaire first.
Presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush both gave up e-mail in office, but Mr Obama will be the first BlackBerry user to occupy the White House.
As well as the problem of the Presidential Records Act, which could open all presidential emails to public scrutiny, there are also security concerns.
