Record numbers of African-Americans came out to vote for Sen. Barack Obama in Georgia’s Democratic primary on Tuesday, giving Obama a big win at the kickoff of a long evening of waiting for other states’ results.
ABC News:
A record turnout of African American voters, who account for just over half of registered Democratic voters in the states, surged to the polls and overwhelmingly voted for Obama.
The Clinton campaign quickly downplayed Obama’s win.
“Unlike the Obama campaign, the Clinton campaign never dedicated significant resources to Georgia,” read a Clinton campaign email sent to supporters Tuesday night.
