It seemed like a case of “hate the war, but hail the general” as the U.S. military commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, faced criticism and tough questions during his and Ambassador Ryan Crocker’s congressional check-in on Monday about the current status and future direction of the Iraq war.
AP via Breitbart.com:
A moderate midwesterner, [Missouri’s Rep. Ike] Skelton blended his praise for the general with sharp questions about the military mission he leads.
“Tell us why we should continue sending our young men and women to fight and die if the Iraqis won’t make the tough sacrifices leading to reconciliation.”
“ ... Are we merely beating a dead horse?” the congressman asked.
