Gone Tuesday were Sen. John McCain’s campaign manager and chief strategist as the 2008 presidential hopeful attempts to revamp his foundering White House bid. McCain’s campaign has been plagued with rumors about the sorry state of his fundraising efforts. McCain did not turn down the volunteered resignations of top aides Mark Selter and Terry Nelson.

Still, McCain was apparently not happy with the state of his campaign, even after the paring back that took place last week. According to one longtime McCain supporter, the senator complained to Sen. Lindsey Graham while the two were in Iraq last week.
“He was concerned about how quickly the money was being spent and how overstaffed he was,” said this source. McCain expressed some wonder that the campaign could’ve raised $24 million, but just had $2 million left in the bank.
