Carter Disses Blair and Bush

Former President Jimmy Carter is not a fan of the Bush administration’s approach to international relations, calling it “the worst in history” in a recent interview.  While he was at it, Carter took aim at British Prime Minister Tony Blair, calling his compliance with Bush’s policies “a major tragedy for the world.”

Britain’s support for the war in Iraq was a “major tragedy,” former President Carter said Saturday, as he criticized Prime Minister Tony Blair’s unwavering backing of President Bush.

Asked how he would judge Blair’s support of Bush, Carter said, “Abominable. Loyal. Blind. Apparently subservient.

“And I think the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world,” Carter told BBC Radio.
