
In the last week alone, those warning of a civil war in Iraq included: America’s top commander in Iraq, Gen. George Casey; Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace; Centcom commander Gen. John Abizaid; and Britain’s ambassador to Iraq.
But what does Bush hear? “Yadda yadda yadda.”
Of course, as Rich Cohen argues today in the Washingon Post, many of those generals were saying as recently as a year ago that they weren’t foreseeing a civil war right around the corner (despite the fact that a second-grade knowledge of the recent history of Iraq would have pointed to one).
