Judge OK’s Wiretap Lawsuit

A federal judge has denied the government’s request to dismiss a lawsuit against AT&T.  The Electronic Frontier Foundation is suing AT&T for its involvement in the NSA’s wiretapping program.  The government argued that the lawsuit would reveal state secrets, but the judge didn’t buy it. 

“Dismissing this case at the outset would sacrifice liberty for no apparent enhancement of security,” he wrote.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Vaughn Walker also rejected AT&T’s argument that the plaintiff could not demonstrate that it had been spied on.
