Zionism Gets a Turbo BoostPosted on Apr 25, 2010
Some Israeli settlers are taking Zionism to a whole new level. Some 200 settlers, living illegally on occupied Palestinian land, marched on the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan in East Jerusalem to assert their supposed right to live on occupied land as well as to affirm “Jewish sovereignty over the whole city.”

As an American Catholic, I couldn’t have said it any better.
It’s always the same: the spiritual morality of the Jewish faith and the civic virtue of the Israeli nation are so often co-opted by the bold and sensational tactics of their most vicious and fanatical members!
Thank God for people like Jeff Halpern and Arik Ascherman, and for groups like Rabbis for Human Rights, Israeli Committee Against Housing Demolitions, B’tselem, Peace Now!, Ta’ayush, and finally for auxilliary groups like Christian Peacekeeping Teams and International Solidarity Movement who work in concert with the above domestic resistance groups.
Those groups, each individually and all taken together, represent the best aspirations of human care for the downtrodden and courage in the face of extremist fury in making a stand.
Far-right zionism may get a turbo-boost, but eventually it is groups like this who will rise to power and broker the peace that will set all parties to work towards their own and their mutual prosperity.
I salute these groups that don’t take crap from former Kach party members like Noam Federman and Baruch Goldstein (likely shown above, if you’re familiar with these two fiends).

May the next Intifada spread beyond the borders of Palestine…
