Here’s a fun thing to muse about in these turbulent economic times: Who would you think is the wealthiest person in Congress? And here are a couple of hints: ketchup and John Edwards. Yes, it’s John Kerry, but as Gawker notes, a lot of his money comes from his honey.  —KA

Number two on the list is tiresome California Rep. Darrell Issa, with $160.1 million. You know how he made that fortune, by the way? Perhaps you’re familiar with the original Viper car alarm system, which made cars freak out and say “PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR” if you came too close? Not only was that Darrell Issa’s product, that was Darrell Issa’s voice.

Interestingly, Sen. Herb Kohl — yes, that’s Kohl’s department stores — has $254 million in assets, mostly from his ownership of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, but he didn’t make the list!
