U.S. Department of Defense

On Monday, The Economist published an infographic showing, by millions of people hired, the world’s 10 biggest employers. The U.S. Department of Defense topped the list with 3.2 million employees.

Although the graphic shows how oversized the U.S. Department of Defense has become, it does not take into account proportion by population. For instance, although employees for the Defense Department make up about 1 percent of the U.S. population, England’s National Health Service employs 1.4 million people—almost 3 percent of its population. —BF

The Economist:

The private sector has been slow to generate jobs, and government-spending cuts usually end up cutting jobs. And governments employ a lot of people: in our chart of the ten biggest global employers, below, seven are government-run.

The educated and foreward looking intellegent members of our founding fathers, knew the dangers of too much power, if it was Religious or be it political and military. That is why we have so much in our Constitution which tries to create hurdles for anyone trying to monopolize power. That is why the intention was to have a military only for defense.

The reason we are losing control of this issue is the huge amount of Money the Military-Industrial Complex controls and it is our tax money, our citizens lives on the line. We have much more to fear at this late date from our own military and the bought and paid for leadership that is blocking the protections of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The political climate we have today was never the intention of the Founding Fathers. They blocked the small group that wished George Washington to take up the crown of Royalty, but now “what has happened?”.

Scandalous.  3% of the population involved in actually healing people, instead of
breaking them?

Communism in the pure sense.

It’s funny how alot of these military retirees will get out at 40, get retirement and medical insurance paid for the rest of their lives and become Republicans.

A sense of their own entitlement will overwhelm them as they try to deny it to others, besides police and firemen, that is unless they are union.

Very revealing—though not exactly fresh news. Shows why we are always trying to drum up a war somewhere. Also shows what an unhealthy country we are, mentally and spiritually, that we allow ourselves to profit from an economy that thrives only because of manufacturing murder and destruction, plus low-wage non-union “service” jobs.
