Congressional Women Looking Over Their ShouldersPosted on Aug 29, 2010
The upcoming midterm elections may be a regressive event on two key fronts. One, the GOP tide of conservative Republicans could make large strides in picking up seats in the House and Senate. And, two, the number of women in Congress could actually drop for the first time in a generation. One congressional analyst says a strong GOP showing in November could mean as many as eight fewer women in the House and one or two fewer in the Senate. —JCL

Does anyone know of a relatively objective, recent, reliable national poll or study comparing men’s and women’s stands on key questions like public education, economic welfare, health care, war and immigration?

Suppose, though, by some chance the Democrats increased their representation in the Senate? No more filibuster excuses! Reid would have a hissy fit.

Nothing will change. The obfuscation being rammed down the
voters throat only enhances the ‘compulsive consumer’
syndrome so that the final decision for so many ‘compulsive

And compulsive or not, just what choice do the people have? A
hard core republican/conservative, a blue dog dimocrat which is
a republican in sheeps clothes or an actual dimorcrat/liberal?
And the only ‘difference’ is not the differences but that they are
the same no matter what the allegiances are ‘supposed’.

I don’t know. Maybe everyone will get a pleasant little surprise.
That’s not your father’s Republican Party out there any more. If you’re old enough you’ll remember when Republicans at least tried to appear respectable.

The people of this nation seem intent upon bouncing back and forth between the reactionary/fascist Republicans and the slightly less reactionary Democrats. Both parties are hopelessly corrupt and incompetent and intent upon reaming the middle class with a deep purple shaft. Most Americans have no idea what’s happening to them. Even when the time comes and they wake up in the gutter, they still won’t know what happened.

I don’t see why the Democrats should lose a lot of seats in November. It’s true that the Democrats’ performance has been poor, but the Republicans’ recent record of negation, obstructionism, and race- and religion-baiting doesn’t seem very attractive. I mean, what’s their program going to be after they rescind the First Amendment?
