It’s Wait and See as Egypt Counts the VotesPosted on May 25, 2012
The official results of the Egyptian election won’t be known until Tuesday, but the outlook points to a strong showing by Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi, the possibility of which has scared some Egyptians into voicing support for a candidate from Mubarak’s administration. One likely contender for Morsi is the independent Islamist candidate and former Muslim Brotherhood member Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh. Morsi is expected to compete with Aboul Fotouh or one of three other front-runners in a runoff vote in mid-June. —ARK
